The Falcon in Stratford-on-Avon

We waited ages for our food. We asked for water and it didn't arrive. The food wasn't hot and seemed to have sat for a while. Pretty underwhelming considering it wasn't busy.

Had a wonderful Mother’s Day meal and was so impressed with the excellent service and the wonderful food despite it being very busy. The roast meals were the best we’ve had in a restaurant, and giving mums a small bunch of flowers was a lovely touch. Highly recommended!

Had a lovely mothers day meal, only down side , didn’t get the same little details as all the other mothers today, would of loved to have felt extra special with the warm welcome and lovely posey of flowers given to everyone that set foot through the door, maybe next year i may get to experience that 🤞🤞🤞

Friendly with a good atmosphere. Always seems busy, although there is always someone available. Never had bad food here. Tomahawk steak was a great centrepiece for the table.

The staff were attentive, pleasant, friendly, helpful, and professional. The fayre was excellent, and we enjoyed our meal very much. The service was superb and second to none.A definite 'go to' place when in Warmington.

The Falcon never fails to deliver the food and amazing service. Amazing food, good quality, and great choice of drinks. Dogs welcome and well received, staff love to say hello. Booking a table is recommended as it gets very busy.

A really lovely pub, probably one of the best in the Banbury area for me. A classic pub menu with a great range of real ales, ciders and other drinks. Every time I’ve been the place has been very busy with a lively atmosphere.

First time for us last night eating, as staying fir tree, as soon as I walked in, I absolutely loved the place, lucky locals I say to have this on their doorstep, food was excellent, service was excellent, absolutely no faults...we shall return.....

Difficulty in sorting out the bill,manager abrupt and unhelpful

Booked a Saturday night meal only to be told we had the table for one hour only! Who eats out for an hour? Then offered one hour and forty five minutes when we objected. They even offered to ‘rush our order through the kitchen for us ‘…. But we didn’t ask for a rushed meal. Never again.

We had a delicious family lunch at this welcoming country pub. The staff were charming and efficient, the food was tasty and well presented. Highly recommended, we will definitely return.

Met friends here for lunch. Very busy and bustling. The food was wonderful. We all had different dishes- all excellent. The service too was excellent. Sophie in particular was absolutely outstanding. She has a natural talent for Customer Service.

We dined here a couple of weeks ago and it was excellent. Free Damm on draught, food was wonderful. Service excellent. We went again last week and the food was good but not quite as good. Perhaps because the menu has changed but it just wasn’t cooked quite so well. Service and atmosphere were still brilliant. Sadly the Free Damm had been taken off and a 0.5% Budvar had appeared in its place - a bit watery and not so good. Needed a top to make it better. Bring back the Damm!!! Won’t stop us going again though, as definitely no complaints from us! The 4* for food is just a comparison between the 2 visits. Thank you for a lovely evening

A lovely comfortable and welcoming pub that serves good food by excellent staff. I drive 1.5 hours to meet a friend here and we would not think about going anywhere else.

Ordered Fish and chips, when it arrived it looked over cooked in too much batter. When I tried to cut the fish, the Batter was so overcooked it shattered, revealing crumbling, dry overcooked fish. The batter also made up 60% of the dish, dwarfing the fish contained within. I complained and the chef and manager agreed it was not good. Despite which, when I received my bill they had not deducted the cost of my meal or compensated me for ruining my lunch. I complained again to the waitress and asked to speak to the Manager but he could not be bothered to speak to me and just deducted the cost of the dish from my meal. I will never go back to the Falcon and the Manager should be dismissed.

We come here fairly regularly for family meals, and the food is generally very good. My side of the family are vegan, and whilst we definitely know this venue is not brimming with options, it was a bit disappointing tonight. It took considerable effort to determine that the curried cauliflower pie was in fact vegan and not vegetarian as stated on the menu. Our waitress didn't know the difference between vegan and vegetarian. Our desert order was wrong too, and the chap who brought it over almost argued with my daughter as to what was ordered. Come on Falcon, you can do better.

I made a booking online which was nice and easy. Options were to eat inside or out. We opted for the inside. We were seated straight away after we arrived (you need to go to the bar to get seated). They gave us a menu and checked if we have any allergies (they have separate menu listing ingredients and providing alternatives like GF). I had ramen and my grandma had a smaller version of beef. And we both had waffles. The food was delicious. The place was reasonably busy. It had a great atmosphere. The outside seating area looks nice and it has a cover to protect from rain. It is supposed to have a nice view, unfortunately I didn't get to see it as it got dark by the time we were having our desert. Inside it is huge, plenty of seating areas for dining or if you just fancy a drink. They do accommodate large parties too. It's definitely worth a visit.

Lovely place however we had a very long wait approx 50 to 60 minutes after ordering our food. The young guy who served us was friendly and knowledgeable and kept apologising to us. When we received our food it tasted OK but we won't be returning.

We enjoyed a lovely lunch at the Falcon on New Years Eve! It was busy but the staff were on top of everything and super friendly as always. No delays for food or drinks, and our meals were delicious.

This is a very large pub/restaurant and the atmosphere is limited by its size. The food is mass cooking that usually is consistent and a customer can know what to expect - however this NO gastro-pub. It's good enough if you are passing but it's definitely not worth a detour.

We’ve been to The Falcon on lots of occasions, but sadly, today was a total disappointment. We purposely waited until mid afternoon to allow the main lunch service to clear. Things started off well with our starters being served quickly, and being very tasty. There were 4 of us and two mains (steak burgers )came out only warm, we then had to wait a further 5 minutes for the other two mains to arrive, and to be able to send one of the steak burgers back, to get a hot version. It took over 10 minutes for a fresh burger to be brought out and made our meal very disjointed. We ordered more drinks and after about 20 minutes and a reminder to the waitress, we saw them sat on a tray on the bar for ages, so went and got the tray ourselves. The waitress although very polite, wasn’t overly busy and seemed not to be concentrating on diners in her area. We removed our finished main course plates to an empty table as they were left for ages, we were not the only diners to do this. We then waited at least another 20 minutes for our dessert order to be taken. We have had good meals and service on previous occasions but not the case today, such a shame as we had friends with us that had travelled quite a distance to join us.

We took parents for a treat to repay some kindness shown over the Christmas period. We were looking forward to the meal as we had eaten here before and it was very good, though this time they missed the mark a bit. One of our group ordered a Malaysian curry which was supposed to have Aubergine, Sweet potato and Spinach, it arrived with no spinach and one tiny piece of aubergine and three small pieces of sweet potato. We complained only to be told that the portion "looked" standard size, some veg was offered but we got the impression that this was a little bit of a chore, the waitress did fetch some extra curry sauce. We spoke to two waitresses about the curry issue and we're told that they did work in the kitchen so didn't really know what to say. Another one of our group had a pie which was not very hot. Two deserts arrived and the custard was cold, we asked for them to be reheated and was told that the custard would be remade as is would separate in the microwave, again this seemed like a chore and that we were complaining constantly, we just wanted a nice time! It was a lot of money to spend on a meal and we felt basic stuff just wasn't right. Another off-putting thing was the amount of staff hanging around doing nothing but chatting it took a good few minutes to attract attention as they all had their backs to us. I wouldn't say that the place was particularly busy when we were there, so don't feel that this would be a suitable excuse for the average food and service we received.

I’d like to say thank you to staff at The Falcon for making our visit so enjoyable despite them having a stressful day - an hour before our booking on Christmas Eve they rang to say their gas supply had stopped working so there would be a limited menu. We arrived to a warm welcome and nothing was too much trouble. My elderly father is frail with limited mobility so staff found him a comfortable chair. A special thank you to our waitress Karen who was cheerful, friendly and attentive. The limited menu was not an issue (and not that limited) - most of us had chicken pie, which was very nice and the puddings went down a treat. Thank you again.

Lovely country pub with great selection of drinks and the staff are very friendly. Love the open fire too. Will be booking a table for food soon

We have been here regularly and always had a great time. The food is within local standards and staff very helpful. We organised a 30+ person meal and had a custom menu for us which was great. The service was great as well. Prices are relatively decent for these days. Their Sunday roast in great.

The manager was fantastic, dressed festively and greeted us warmly when we arrived. We were given a fab table and an additional chair was provided which was perfect for our little girl.When I mentioned it was a meal for my mums birthday he went out of his way to give her a drink or dessert on the house.All the service was attentive and prompt, and the food and drink was great.We were really happy and will definitely be back!

Absolutely Fantastic evening. Our meal was delicious, piping hot and the plates had such large portions we couldn't quite finish. Cooked to perfection. I had the Lamb shoulder and hubby the fish and chips. 4 different veggies plus roasties too!! The staff were all very pleasant and welcoming and nothing was too much trouble. They all appeared happy and smiling which is always good to see. The whole pub was beautifully decorated for Christmas and I'm sure we counted at least eight xmas trees!! The roaring fire added to the festive feel The Falcon is now top of the list for our evenings out . Thank you to all of you for our welcome 🥰

I absolutely love the Falcon. I've been there a few times and leave having loved my meal. It can get busy at times, which might delay service at times. However, the food is always worth waiting for, and in all honesty, the portion you get is worth the price you pay. Love this little gem!

What a wonderful lunch today! Warm welcoming staff who were so busy but enjoying themselves and clearly and happy in their work! The food was amazing and our dogs were made very welcome too! Particular thanks to Elliot who was a superstar 🎄

Unfortunately our meal and experience today was spoilt by a dog barking close by and being encouraged to bark more by it's owners which is unacceptable when we were trying to enjoy our meal. Unfortunately our table was was very close to an exit door into the garden which created a lot of cold draught every time someone went out into the garden which was uncomfortable. Unfortunately two out of four of our meals were served and we had to wait for quite some time before the other two meals were served once we bought this to the server's atttention. We have been going to the falcon for several years and I have never posted a negative review.

Initial service was a bit slow to take drinks order but staff accomodating, friendly and polite. The food was excellent and the atmosphere good, decor and surroundings also very good. All very welcoming on a cold, wet and windy day. Recommended!!

Have cancelled the booking I had for a large party due to the complete lack of communication. I have phoned over 20 times to ask some questions as the booking is for a big birthday & it is never answered. I have also emailed several times with no response and my Facebook messenger message has been read and ignored.

The atmosphere here at Christmas time is amazing. I love the Christmas trees next to beautiful Victorian decorations, completed with the fireplace in the centre of the main room. Food is always delicious. The staff is really friendly. Thank you for a lovely Christmas dinner.

On every occasion we have visited The Falcon for a meal, we really have had excellent service, the quality of the food is always absolutely first class, and all the staff we have met are, without exception, both very friendly and helpful. Highly recommended.

This was a bad experience, after several better ones. We were a table of 8 and in a side room with nobody else and zero atmosphere. The waitress was increasingly disinterested, and by the time we got to desserts, she shoved all the menus from the top of the table. It was so rude, we had to laugh. One of the mains came out 10 minutes later than the others. The wait for drinks was long. They seemed to have enough staff, but obviously struggle to motivate them.

Enjoyed with our friends. Good food. Like the way they handle French fries and chips.

The Falcon is probably our family favourite place to eat out. Kind of like our 'For Birthdays' type of place. The food is first and foremost absolutely delicious and always served really quickly. The service team are always a delight but this time we had a chap called Lochie and he was 10/10 excellent. Friendly, chatty (but not too chatty), warm and welcoming. Thank you to everyone at The Falcon, keep up the great work.

It's usually a good sign when the pub car park is close to full and it's 2:00 pm on a gloomy Tuesday. We found a big sprawling pub with a great feel to it - friendly staff and customers, with a comfortable buzz of conversation in the main bar area. We were given a table in a lovely alcove that was a little more private for the needs of the tiny baby in our party but still very connected to the rest of the pub. Service was a little slow but this seemed to be due to a combination of staff sickness and cover during half-term holidays. The food was very good and worth the wait, not a crumb was left. Complimentary flapjack was provided with after dinner drinks for the slow service - there had been no complaints from any of us, this was just a really nice gesture from people who clearly care about what they do. We all really enjoyed our visit.

We can't speak to highly of The Falcon... we spent a very enjoyable hour or two there today. (26/10/24) We had the pleasure of the lovely, and friendly Mel serving us and taking our orders. They make the most perfect G+T's , and our meal was perfect, delicious and gluten free.my dessert of hot drink ( mine was a delicious flat white), and a small dessert of chocolate brownie,rich chocolate sauce and vanilla ice cream . Again , gluten free and simply heaven on a plate!! Even though the restaurant was very busy, Mel was always on hand to check we had everything we needed. Our time there today was perfect, and in fact it is everytime we go there, for birthdays and family get-to-gethers, and the service and meals we enjoy are consistantly of a high quality and great value. Hope to be back soon!!!

One of the best Sunday lunches I've had, good staff,great ales and wine. Lovely Atmosphere. Well worth going. (Book in advance. Had a recent visit back to Falcon on a Monday lunch had the Fish & Chips idid not think it was worth the £17.45 they charged.

Staff very good working as a team. Food the best well done. And the inside and gardens fab.

Wonderful food, atmosphere and service at the table - unfortunately no chance to get a proper invoice for client dinner. I reached out in 3 emails but no response.. therefore I cannot recommend this place for business occasions

Great place recomend and easy to book in advance. Only fault was being sat by an outside door on a wet day where smokers went out to have a drag, annoying for a life time non smoker.

Booked a table for 8 people to celebrate my husbands birthday. Promptly served with drinks and food order taken. Delicious roasts ordered by all although the Yorkshire puddings were all cold but upon remarking to waiter, they were taken away and fresh hot ones supplied with sincere apologies. The meals were absolutely yummy and a huge portion. It was very busy and the staff were all working incredibly hard but we still felt attended to and we had a wonderful time. We would definitely come back for another Sunday lunch as was by far the best we’ve had in a very long time.

There were 4 of us & two very well behaved dogs my family had come up from the coast to visit so I had booked the table 6 weeks before as I knew I could be confident my family would get a good meal. The Meal & Service was Excellent despite it being very very busy we were served very quickly and the meals came very quickly. The Dogs were given Dog Bowls with fresh Cold water & we were asked if the Dogs could have a Dog Treat which was lovely. The Pet Friendly area is really nice it's open, spacious & well ventilated I will definitely be going back soon for Lunch. I highly recommend it to anyone who wants to get what you pay for an excellent meal, service etc.

We didn't have a booking. My Dad and I had tried to telephone a couple of times that morning but the phone didn't answer. We got there however and despite them being so busy, they found us a table really quickly. I had the roast beef and Dad had the roast lamb - both were delicious - staff were attentive and seemed happy - looks like a great employer Will be back and thank you

Great food as always. Waitress staff very pleasant with a smile, however bar staff need to listen, (a) when you say no ice (b) when you say only half fill with a mixer (c) having to ask for slice of lemon. Disappointing on that side of it, also make bar staff member when bringing second replacement drink slammed glass on table with a grunt, not acceptable.

Came across The Falcom whilst on holiday so called in for lunch. What a delightful place. Welcoming and warm atmosphere, a wide range of drinks available and an interesting lunch menu all served by very attentive staff, in our case, the very lovely June. Plenty of parking available and a choice of places to sit whilst enjoying a drink or/ and a meal.

An extremely poor night rescued only by the lovely waitress Belle. Lengthy wait for drinks and food. Three starters ordered to come together with main dishes yet 2 of which came as starters and one halfway through main course. Had to ask for heating to be put on as we were seated by a door. One vegan main, which was the obligatory curry (not all vegans eat curry) . No discount offered. But, Belle was lovely

We booked for a Thursday night and the place was buzzing and full of diners. Even on a dark, wet, autumn evening so that was a good sign. We were seated in a quiet corner and served promptly. The menu was varied and when the food came it was beautifully presented and ever so tasty. The desserts were fabulous too. Highly recommend. If we are in the area again we will definitely go back.

Once a discrepancy with our order was realised by staff, they rectified the circumstances immediately and the manager organised a fair discount too. The food presented was simply delicious 😋

After visiting their neighbours across the road our children were quite hungry and it was already 1:30ish. Stopped at the The falcon for lunch, it was very busy. Looked outside for some seating but every table and a reserved sign on. Went inside and a few tables had no reserved sign, so we can weren’t sure if they were booked. We sat down and my husband went to the bar to double check we can sit there and if not if they had any available tables. The hostess or whatever she was came over and started off nice and polite but as soon as she realised we had just sat down even though I tried to explain she rudely and loudly, other people at other tables started looking at us, told me we couldn’t sit there and to get up! I stayed seated until my husband came and said the lovely fellow at the bar said they have a table for us. She was rude and could have dealt with it better. I didn’t want to have lunch there after that but my kids needed food and home was an hour away. All the other staff are so lovely. Also, fix your cracked toilet seat! It pinched my daughters leg!
