The Falcon in Stratford-on-Avon

Had a lovely meal with family on Saturday evening. Our waitress, Vicki was most attentive and pleasant. She made a fuss of our new puppy, Ruby who sat patiently under our table whilst we enjoyed everything at the Falcon at Warmington.

We enjoyed fabulous food with very thoughtful service. Our son wears hearing aids so rhey seated us in a quiet nook which meant we could chat and hear each other.

Courteous and friendly service with attention to detail. Very patient staff while we took ages to order! Great food.

Lovely surroundings but you can’t enjoy the full garden as the smell of sewage hits you. The food seems to be declining in quality over the years. Have been customers since it opened but don’t think we’ll eat there again, as much better places locally.

Lovely place. Stopped there on the way back from Worwick with my family and a few others. The food was really nice and the kids loved the garden. I wish the place was close to where we live, Maidstone, but regrettably we won't go back there any time soon. The staff is friendly and helpful. The views from the garden are stunning. Go there when you can.

We came here today for the first time and very happy with the service. Beautiful setting outdoors looking across the most amazing views. Lovely

My friends and I had booked a table over a week before and when we arrived the table was allocated to a part that wasn't open, we ended up outside next to the bins or freezer, however George was our waiter and what a lovely professional young man, he couldnt do enough to make sure we were looked after, he was very attentive with our orders, drinks he made our evening even more enjoyable thank you George you are a credit to the Falcon, first class service what a joy to see someone enjoying there job Happy

COLD "BBQ" food. The food on the BBQ menu has nothing to do with the BBQ itself in my opinion. BBQ sauce Chicken wings worse than ALDI's. I think we could have received better quality food in Wetherspoons. Not a single individual item that we ordered was warm, not to even mention hot. No knives available, just one large fork, and one small fork. 👎🏻 Nice view though.

This place has been a let down for food and food service for the last 3 times. Avoid avoid avoid! Only worth going for guest ales

Visited here for the first time on a Monday evening with family. The atmosphere here was absolutely lovely, so relaxed, and even though it was fairly busy for a Monday, the staff were very attentive, and it felt spacious, we weren’t crowded. The food was delicious and as I’ve said, the staff were great I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this place again or indeed to visit again

I agree with all the other reviews on here. Very overpriced for the standard and portions. I ordered the Hake and got mostly cabbage with a piece of fish that was approximately 30cm square and thin. The steaks were half the thickness of a normal steak. The service was poor and slow . The food didn’t come out together and we were forgotten about despite being a party of seven ( not that, that should make a difference).

I have been to The Falcon probably half a dozen times in the last two years and it has never yet disappointed. This last visit for a luncheon was particularly notable due to the above and beyond help I received from the Duty Manager -without having called for him- who assisted with explaining various dietary allowances the kitchen could make and how to navigate both their table side and online menu in order to understand them. I am on a temporary FODMAP diet and trying to work out what is and what is not compliant is complicated. The staff and the Duty Manager were both exceptionally patient and helpful in making sure I was making the right choices. Thank you for looking after me and my guests we will be back!

Beautiful large pub with lovely grounds. Definitely want to come back.

This occasion was a wake for my beloved wife, The Falcon catered for 50 + guests and set aside a considerable area of the premises exclusively for the occasion over a lunch period of 3 hours. The staff were continuously attentive without being intrusive and could not have been more helpful, including the supply of a projector for a photo montage. The buffett lunch was superb, continuously available, it also included some dietary requirement options which were of equal quality. The staff were first class, their communication and organisation spot on and of excellent value overall.

Disappointing visit for afternoon tea. Food was not, in our opinion worth £25 a head. Dry, unimaginative sandwiches, a piece of chicken bone found in one! Also, who puts scones and cream next to quiche and pork pie on the serving plate! Very odd and a shame as it was a birthday treat. Had been before and not a patch on previous visit.

This pub is in a great location and we love the covered outdoor area in the summer. Unfortunately, our last two visits have left us feeling disappointed. The actual food was mostly OK, but not excellent as it used to be. For instance, the potatoes were undercooked. Now that the weather is warmer, we were looking forward to sitting in the outdoor covered area. We discovered that you now have to order at the bar if you sit there. I understand that perhaps they have had people leaving through the garden without paying, but surely the serving team could have a tablet for ordering and taking payments - we even have this in our village hall! As things are, you have to go back to the bar to order and pay for each course and round of drinks. Of course the food (which was slow to arrive) then arrives and starts going cold. Our table was dirty, with dried food that had obviously been there for some time. We really hope that things improve and return to their previously high standards.

A favourite local place, especially good for bringing out of town visitors

We hadn’t been to the Falcon for a while but was very disappointed when we went with family for lunch last Sunday. I was going to order roast beef but was told it was being served very well done. I asked if someone had forgot to get it out the oven and was told that exactly what happened. I ordered roast beef and the other two ordered Steakburger and fish and chips. The meals arrived immediately so couldn’t have be cooked fresh. My Roast chicken meal was awful. The chicken was delicious and was a very big portion but the rest was inedible. The roast potatoes were pale hard and undercooked as was the tiny portion of vegetables. The other 2 meals were mediocre.It is quite expensive and I won’t be returning again.

Great location,with fantastic views. Fantastic out door eating area,though the indoor is very good too. Good selection of food on the menu and food we had was exemplary. I would recommend the steak burger personally. Good selection of beers and ciders, and great staff and servers. Only wish I lived a little closer. Great spot.

Not my cup of tea Food mediocre nothing special at all. Food pretty bland. Best thing about the experience was the prosecco! Will definitely not return!

Deputy manager was aggressive and extremely rude. We have been going here for some time as part of a car club and every month we arrive, order our food and pay as couples/individuals and the food comes out when cooked rather than waiting for everyone to be served at the same time. Works well and never had a problem until this occasion when Anthony the deputy manager informed us that the chef was in despair over the ordering system. Anthony was rude, aggressive in his attitude and would not listen to what was being told to him. This resulted in a heated exchange of words and he was asked to leave the private dining room to deescalate the situation. He then returned in a very heightened state of anger and accused our group of bullying, and using words towards him that had not been said. He finished his tirade with telling us that we were barred from the pub. As a group of sixty/seventy year olds we were shocked. Ladies were crying from the exchange and we felt we needed to leave for our own welfare. So, the end of the car club and its long established bookings. As for the rest of the staff, they are extremely helpful and professional. The food is on the whole good but expensive.

Delicious Sunday Roast, I had the lamb as ‘tis the season. Friendly, attentive staff. Relaxing atmosphere. Lovely big pub with lots of space. For larger parties, at this time of year, I would recommend booking well in advance to secure your place inside the restaurant - we booked for our party of nine a week ahead and the inside was already fully booked for us, which is a testament to the popularity of the place. So, we instead had to reserve a table under the covered terrace outside; I am sure this is perfect on a baking hot summer’s day, but in spring, being in the shade outside is simply too cold, even on a lovely sunny day such as this was 🥶 we were given fleecy blankets, and overhead were sparsely distributed heaters, but, seriously, book ahead, get your table inside. Otherwise, highly recommended.

Excellent place, but service a bit slow

A really friendly & well frequented pub with a great restaurant. This place has a great atmosphere & the staff are friendly & accommodating. The beer selection is good & the menu extensive. The outside area is really good, with a great covered area for food & the beer garden is well used. Due to the popularity of the venue, the car park is very busy & gets full easily.

We waited ages for our food. We asked for water and it didn't arrive. The food wasn't hot and seemed to have sat for a while. Pretty underwhelming considering it wasn't busy.

Had a wonderful Mother’s Day meal and was so impressed with the excellent service and the wonderful food despite it being very busy. The roast meals were the best we’ve had in a restaurant, and giving mums a small bunch of flowers was a lovely touch. Highly recommended!

Had a lovely mothers day meal, only down side , didn’t get the same little details as all the other mothers today, would of loved to have felt extra special with the warm welcome and lovely posey of flowers given to everyone that set foot through the door, maybe next year i may get to experience that 🤞🤞🤞

Friendly with a good atmosphere. Always seems busy, although there is always someone available. Never had bad food here. Tomahawk steak was a great centrepiece for the table.

The staff were attentive, pleasant, friendly, helpful, and professional. The fayre was excellent, and we enjoyed our meal very much. The service was superb and second to none.A definite 'go to' place when in Warmington.

The Falcon never fails to deliver the food and amazing service. Amazing food, good quality, and great choice of drinks. Dogs welcome and well received, staff love to say hello. Booking a table is recommended as it gets very busy.

A really lovely pub, probably one of the best in the Banbury area for me. A classic pub menu with a great range of real ales, ciders and other drinks. Every time I’ve been the place has been very busy with a lively atmosphere.

First time for us last night eating, as staying fir tree, as soon as I walked in, I absolutely loved the place, lucky locals I say to have this on their doorstep, food was excellent, service was excellent, absolutely no faults...we shall return.....

Difficulty in sorting out the bill,manager abrupt and unhelpful

We had a table for 15 at the falcon .The service was first class ,The food was really good and we had a brilliant night .Would recommend highly.

Booked a Saturday night meal only to be told we had the table for one hour only! Who eats out for an hour? Then offered one hour and forty five minutes when we objected. They even offered to ‘rush our order through the kitchen for us ‘…. But we didn’t ask for a rushed meal. Never again.

We had a delicious family lunch at this welcoming country pub. The staff were charming and efficient, the food was tasty and well presented. Highly recommended, we will definitely return.

Met friends here for lunch. Very busy and bustling. The food was wonderful. We all had different dishes- all excellent. The service too was excellent. Sophie in particular was absolutely outstanding. She has a natural talent for Customer Service.

We dined here a couple of weeks ago and it was excellent. Free Damm on draught, food was wonderful. Service excellent. We went again last week and the food was good but not quite as good. Perhaps because the menu has changed but it just wasn’t cooked quite so well. Service and atmosphere were still brilliant. Sadly the Free Damm had been taken off and a 0.5% Budvar had appeared in its place - a bit watery and not so good. Needed a top to make it better. Bring back the Damm!!! Won’t stop us going again though, as definitely no complaints from us! The 4* for food is just a comparison between the 2 visits. Thank you for a lovely evening

A lovely comfortable and welcoming pub that serves good food by excellent staff. I drive 1.5 hours to meet a friend here and we would not think about going anywhere else.

Ordered Fish and chips, when it arrived it looked over cooked in too much batter. When I tried to cut the fish, the Batter was so overcooked it shattered, revealing crumbling, dry overcooked fish. The batter also made up 60% of the dish, dwarfing the fish contained within. I complained and the chef and manager agreed it was not good. Despite which, when I received my bill they had not deducted the cost of my meal or compensated me for ruining my lunch. I complained again to the waitress and asked to speak to the Manager but he could not be bothered to speak to me and just deducted the cost of the dish from my meal. I will never go back to the Falcon and the Manager should be dismissed.

We come here fairly regularly for family meals, and the food is generally very good. My side of the family are vegan, and whilst we definitely know this venue is not brimming with options, it was a bit disappointing tonight. It took considerable effort to determine that the curried cauliflower pie was in fact vegan and not vegetarian as stated on the menu. Our waitress didn't know the difference between vegan and vegetarian. Our desert order was wrong too, and the chap who brought it over almost argued with my daughter as to what was ordered. Come on Falcon, you can do better.

I made a booking online which was nice and easy. Options were to eat inside or out. We opted for the inside. We were seated straight away after we arrived (you need to go to the bar to get seated). They gave us a menu and checked if we have any allergies (they have separate menu listing ingredients and providing alternatives like GF). I had ramen and my grandma had a smaller version of beef. And we both had waffles. The food was delicious. The place was reasonably busy. It had a great atmosphere. The outside seating area looks nice and it has a cover to protect from rain. It is supposed to have a nice view, unfortunately I didn't get to see it as it got dark by the time we were having our desert. Inside it is huge, plenty of seating areas for dining or if you just fancy a drink. They do accommodate large parties too. It's definitely worth a visit.

Lovely place however we had a very long wait approx 50 to 60 minutes after ordering our food. The young guy who served us was friendly and knowledgeable and kept apologising to us. When we received our food it tasted OK but we won't be returning.

We enjoyed a lovely lunch at the Falcon on New Years Eve! It was busy but the staff were on top of everything and super friendly as always. No delays for food or drinks, and our meals were delicious.

This is a very large pub/restaurant and the atmosphere is limited by its size. The food is mass cooking that usually is consistent and a customer can know what to expect - however this NO gastro-pub. It's good enough if you are passing but it's definitely not worth a detour.

We’ve been to The Falcon on lots of occasions, but sadly, today was a total disappointment. We purposely waited until mid afternoon to allow the main lunch service to clear. Things started off well with our starters being served quickly, and being very tasty. There were 4 of us and two mains (steak burgers )came out only warm, we then had to wait a further 5 minutes for the other two mains to arrive, and to be able to send one of the steak burgers back, to get a hot version. It took over 10 minutes for a fresh burger to be brought out and made our meal very disjointed. We ordered more drinks and after about 20 minutes and a reminder to the waitress, we saw them sat on a tray on the bar for ages, so went and got the tray ourselves. The waitress although very polite, wasn’t overly busy and seemed not to be concentrating on diners in her area. We removed our finished main course plates to an empty table as they were left for ages, we were not the only diners to do this. We then waited at least another 20 minutes for our dessert order to be taken. We have had good meals and service on previous occasions but not the case today, such a shame as we had friends with us that had travelled quite a distance to join us.

We took parents for a treat to repay some kindness shown over the Christmas period. We were looking forward to the meal as we had eaten here before and it was very good, though this time they missed the mark a bit. One of our group ordered a Malaysian curry which was supposed to have Aubergine, Sweet potato and Spinach, it arrived with no spinach and one tiny piece of aubergine and three small pieces of sweet potato. We complained only to be told that the portion "looked" standard size, some veg was offered but we got the impression that this was a little bit of a chore, the waitress did fetch some extra curry sauce. We spoke to two waitresses about the curry issue and we're told that they did work in the kitchen so didn't really know what to say. Another one of our group had a pie which was not very hot. Two deserts arrived and the custard was cold, we asked for them to be reheated and was told that the custard would be remade as is would separate in the microwave, again this seemed like a chore and that we were complaining constantly, we just wanted a nice time! It was a lot of money to spend on a meal and we felt basic stuff just wasn't right. Another off-putting thing was the amount of staff hanging around doing nothing but chatting it took a good few minutes to attract attention as they all had their backs to us. I wouldn't say that the place was particularly busy when we were there, so don't feel that this would be a suitable excuse for the average food and service we received.

First class ambience, food and service. But please do not tell anyone

I’d like to say thank you to staff at The Falcon for making our visit so enjoyable despite them having a stressful day - an hour before our booking on Christmas Eve they rang to say their gas supply had stopped working so there would be a limited menu. We arrived to a warm welcome and nothing was too much trouble. My elderly father is frail with limited mobility so staff found him a comfortable chair. A special thank you to our waitress Karen who was cheerful, friendly and attentive. The limited menu was not an issue (and not that limited) - most of us had chicken pie, which was very nice and the puddings went down a treat. Thank you again.

We have been here regularly and always had a great time. The food is within local standards and staff very helpful. We organised a 30+ person meal and had a custom menu for us which was great. The service was great as well. Prices are relatively decent for these days. Their Sunday roast in great.

My first time at the Falcon, absolutely gorgeous place. Very welcoming and friendly and even the dog got treats. Food was amazing and a lovely open fire.

The manager was fantastic, dressed festively and greeted us warmly when we arrived. We were given a fab table and an additional chair was provided which was perfect for our little girl.When I mentioned it was a meal for my mums birthday he went out of his way to give her a drink or dessert on the house.All the service was attentive and prompt, and the food and drink was great.We were really happy and will definitely be back!

Absolutely Fantastic evening. Our meal was delicious, piping hot and the plates had such large portions we couldn't quite finish. Cooked to perfection. I had the Lamb shoulder and hubby the fish and chips. 4 different veggies plus roasties too!! The staff were all very pleasant and welcoming and nothing was too much trouble. They all appeared happy and smiling which is always good to see. The whole pub was beautifully decorated for Christmas and I'm sure we counted at least eight xmas trees!! The roaring fire added to the festive feel The Falcon is now top of the list for our evenings out . Thank you to all of you for our welcome 🥰

Massively overpriced and dubious, claimed size of steak. Fish and chips clearly baked (and burnt). Overall poor experience.

I absolutely love the Falcon. I've been there a few times and leave having loved my meal. It can get busy at times, which might delay service at times. However, the food is always worth waiting for, and in all honesty, the portion you get is worth the price you pay. Love this little gem!

Unfortunately our meal and experience today was spoilt by a dog barking close by and being encouraged to bark more by it's owners which is unacceptable when we were trying to enjoy our meal. Unfortunately our table was was very close to an exit door into the garden which created a lot of cold draught every time someone went out into the garden which was uncomfortable. Unfortunately two out of four of our meals were served and we had to wait for quite some time before the other two meals were served once we bought this to the server's atttention. We have been going to the falcon for several years and I have never posted a negative review.

Never been here before and the food was amazing and big portions.very clean and friendly staff.

Initial service was a bit slow to take drinks order but staff accomodating, friendly and polite. The food was excellent and the atmosphere good, decor and surroundings also very good. All very welcoming on a cold, wet and windy day. Recommended!!

The atmosphere here at Christmas time is amazing. I love the Christmas trees next to beautiful Victorian decorations, completed with the fireplace in the centre of the main room. Food is always delicious. The staff is really friendly. Thank you for a lovely Christmas dinner.

Have cancelled the booking I had for a large party due to the complete lack of communication. I have phoned over 20 times to ask some questions as the booking is for a big birthday & it is never answered. I have also emailed several times with no response and my Facebook messenger message has been read and ignored.

Lovely pub with very friendly staff and a good range of food. Sadly my wife's chicken pie was somewhat lacking in chicken, but it other meals were fine. Good portion sizes and fairly priced. Will definitely be visiting again.
