Eat Tokyo in Kensington and Chelsea

I do not recommend this place to visit, terrible service. When booking, they refused, but when I got in line, I saw how they continued to book a place for others. The kitchen is not clean, considering that they work with fish, there is a doubt about its quality and freshness. We will not return here again

I had to go to urgent care i got food poisoning…. the deep fried crab was not fresh and was very off.

The food at eat Tokyo is great, and the menu is massive so there’s always something for everyone for a wide range of prices! The Notting Hill location has some exclusive specials and lunch offers too. I made sure to book as like the other locations there was a queue.

Quick service, tasty, and big portion. Very reliable restaurant. The food is always tasty, in this branch as well. Quite big seating. The food came quickly after we ordered. We had softcrab tempura, sushi set A, agedashi tofu, green tea, mushroom teriyaki (which was quite tasty actually), kara age, kabocha croquette, and wakame salad. These totalled about £71 for two people in 2025. We were very full, maybe also order a bit too much but all tasty nevertheless. My favs are still softcrab tempura, sushi, and agedashi tofu. Chicken is halal, but some may have non halal ingredients, which the store has mentioned clearly.

Affordable prices, authentic taste, generous serving.

We recommend the salmon teriyaki bento. The price is cheap at 10 pounds and the quantity is just right. When I'm having trouble finding food, I come here to eat.

Eat Tokyo is my go to place when I don't know what to eat. This has become my comfort food and comfort place in this new city. I have been to their branches in Holborn, Tottenham court road and notting hill gate. The food, service and staff are all incredible. Everything on the menu is just so amazing and affordable.

The food quality has definitely declined. Teriyaki Chicken was over cooked, almost precooked in advance, and subsequently recooked before serving. The bathroom facilities could be significantly improved. The takoyaki was unusually chewy. The prawn tempura was exceptionally good.

Everything was delicious and the prices were very reasonable for London.

A great find for an authentic Japanese eatery experience. No frills, but great service, good prices and really delicious food. Will be seeking out Eat Tokyo around the rest of London now too. Really happy to have found this place.

A firm family favourite have been coming here over 10 years now. The maitre d’ is so wonderful and welcoming even in the busiest moments. Our favourite waiter Kiran always makes a huge effort to make you feel at home and this is the reason me, my family and friends have been coming back again & again for years.

Ordered through Deliveroo, took 90 mins for food to arrive, half order was missing , what was as delivered arrived cold. Was only reimbursed part of my rather than a full refund. Really disappointing and won’t be ordering from here again.

This chain appears to have declined a bit .The fish did not have that supreme taste of freshness however, which I have tasted from other Camden sushi places. The salmon is meant to roll off your tongue as you bite into it. This tasted of nothing, the wasabi is supposed to give it a kick, with the soya. But the soya was very thin quality. The tofu was better, okay. There appeared to lack that passion which transfers to the food. The tempura was too oily, particularly the vegetables… The Yuzu sake was again ok, not the best. The waitresses in their traditional outfit which was gorgeous could be a bit more friendly, maybe it was a hard day. The atmosphere was good, pleasant and clean. Hope they pick up

The food here is undeniably good, but the service was a significant letdown. My wife and I ordered two dishes, which arrived separately, with a 20-minute gap. When we questioned the delay, we were told it was due to the dishes originating from different kitchen sections. This explanation was unsatisfactory, given that both items were on the same order ticket. The significant delay between our meals severely impacted our dining experience. I would be hesitant to recommend this establishment unless they address their service inconsistencies. Not the first time either..probably the last however. Shame the food was pretty good 🙃

I visited the restaurant today, I absolutely love it . I was served by Tun thank you very much for the friendly and professional service ( I hope I wrote the name right) The restaurant was very busy I didn't have to wait for a table maybe 5 minutes , food came out fairly quick and it was delicious 😋.

amazing prices for london and i will be back because of that, however sashimi in the chirashi don was not that fresh. especially the tuna which had a strong fishy taste and the tobikko tasted funky too. otherwise really large portions, fast service and the spicy salmon roll was good

There are several branches of Eat Tokyo in London and they all offer tasty Japanese food at reasonable prices. I used to live in Japan and find the food at Eat Tokyo to be very authentic and of good quality. However, the Notting Hill branch has to be my favourite. What sets it apart is the excellent customer service provided by Nobuko San and the entire team. Everyone is very friendly, professional and welcoming. The menu at Eat Tokyo is extensive and varied. They have everything from sashimi / sushi to various bento boxes. They also have some dishes which you cannot find at other branches, such as the Buta Kakuni and Hanpen Cheese Fried. I definitely recommend Eat Tokyo if you want to eat authentic Japanese food at a reasonable price. I will definitely continue to be a happy, regular customer.

Best service since sliced bread!

On my second visit to Eat Tokyo Notting Hill, I was fortunate to get a seat quickly without having to queue. On my first visit, however, I had to wait 20 minutes for a table. The key takeaway? Visit during off-peak hours—somewhere between lunch and dinner. As for the food, I have no complaints, especially when considering the price-to-quantity ratio. You can get a full salmon teriyaki bento set for just £10, which is excellent value. The service was also impressive—the staff refilled tap water, and the food arrived quickly.

Mucha variedad y precio muy razonable. Mi Atún Teriyaki Bento era solo £ 10. 00 . Muy buena relación calidad-precio. Vino con sopa de miso también. Muy bien presentado y muy generoso. La comida sale bastante rápido. El personal es amable y agradable. Servicio eficiente. Lo recomendaría.

Me encanta Eat Tokyo por su relación calidad-precio, sin embargo es muy decepcionante para los comensales sin gluten. Si bien el menú indica lo que está disponible, solo hay unas 5 opciones seguras para personas sin gluten. Incluso cuando pedimos cosas que el menú indicaba que eran seguras, el personal de camareros seguía diciendo que no lo era. Uno de los cuales sé cocinar y en realidad tuve que decirles que era, confirmado más tarde por ellos preguntando al chef. Sus actitudes no eran nada simpáticas y nos dieron el menú que no hay recomendaciones sobre qué hacer. Proporcionaron salsa de soja sin gluten, lo que no tiene sentido si no puedes simplemente hacer una versión sin gluten de salsas usando la salsa de soja... Muchos más restaurantes de Asia oriental están mejorando en la adaptación a las alergias y este lugar debería hacerlo mejor, en lugar de simplemente colocar una bandera en la mesa diciendo "alergias".

I stopped for an early dinner on a Monday evening. Big restaurant. Clean. Busy at the time despite it being early. Huge menu. You can page it for hours! A lot of variety and very reasonably priced. My Tuna Teriyaki Bento was only £10.00. Very good value. Came with miso soup as well. Nicely presented and very generous. Food comes out quite quickly. Staff are friendly and pleasant. Efficient service. Would recommend.

I understand the hype! Great food, super fresh & excellent value for money. Good vegetarian options & the restaurant was absolutely buzzing on a Tuesday evening! We were stuffed and only paid £20 each- for 2 mains, 2 apps and 2 drinks. Stunning

Really enjoyed my food here. Service was nice, the staff is friendly. The salmon felt a little old, it had a sharp bite to it because of the same. The ebnto box portion is large, I was not able to finish it so had to take it to go. Decent place.

I feel like my day couldn’t go any worse I got over charged in 2 separate places. Services was terrible, got the wrong order, miso soup was cold and came out mid meal. Workers were rude (not all). Guy told us you can max pay with 4 cards and I’ve worked hospitality I know you can do more. Shame because I’ve been many times and the service was never this bad

Good place for a quick noodle or rice. Miso soup really good and the pork cheeks were well cooked and flavoursome. Service a bit slow. Gets super busy with people queueing up the stairs (which tells you something). Will definitely go back.

Great food as always. Can't complain about that, but the wait for a table could have been made easier and more efficient if they had someone checking on how many diners are in each group. If there's a table for two, but all the groups ahead of you are asking for tables for 4 or 6 , then it shouldn't be a long wait for you if you want a table for two. The problem is that the waiter ignores this fact and you see empty tables for 2 paxs as you sit down. This issue was dealt with nicely in the Soho outlet but not in this outlet.

One of the best value for money sushi restaurants you will find. Been many times and they are consistently good with quality of food and portion sizes. Highly recommend.

Great place for Japanese food. A bit poor on the decor, but what a selection from an extensive menu! Fantastic service as well and good beers to choose from too. Lots of people so a busy turn around. Had the Sushi and beef with rice was lovely. If you want a range of Japanese food without paying ridiculous prices, then this is the place to come.

Without doubt the best place to eat if you want delicious food that is served quickly, a welcoming and friendly atmosphere and at a price point that cannot be matched. Second time eating here, got two bento boxes, salmon and chicken, nato and some tofu, all served with a delicious miso soup. Grand price around £35 that left both of us stuffed. We were at the location for less than an hour and we left happy. The staff were attentive and friendly in both welcome and exiting. It's great to find a place that has excellent quality Japanese food that is consistent.

We recently had the pleasure of dining at this charming Japanese restaurant and were thoroughly impressed. The sushi was nothing short of exceptional — fresh, beautifully prepared, and with a perfect balance of flavours. The standout dish, however, was the Wagyu steak; it was exquisitely tender, with a rich, deep flavour that left a lasting impression. The service was attentive and professional, and the atmosphere was both cosy and refined. A thoroughly enjoyable experience, and we’ll certainly be returning for another memorable meal. Food was good, but asahi draught was flat and not ice cold, glass was also not chilled like usual, told the staff, they just said it was the bottom of the barrel and that was that, nothing else offered. Like it or lump it. Shame as the food was good and service up to that point was efficient. Could have at least taken it off the bill.

Takeaway order. Oct 2024. Sushi set A (8pc nigiri + salmon maki, miso soup) Al a carte: yellowtail, scallop, uni I don’t this takeaway sushi is the move. Especially as this set comes with hot miso soup that is wrapped up with the sushi in a plastic bag that traps all the heat. By the time it’s delivered, the sushi is no longer cool. The sushi set A comes with 8 pieces nigiri: salmon, tuna, tamago egg, small fish roe tobbiko, yellowtail, mackerel, cooked prawn, sea bass. The tuna was the best, surprisingly the mackerel was also good. The yellowtail was really disappointing and I ordered a second a la carte not knowing it would come in the set. It was hard to eat and tasted old. The second one was even harder to get through. The scallop was also good. The uni was okay but didn’t taste very fresh and I wouldn’t order it again. The salmon maki also wasn’t great. The pieces of salmon were large but it also tasted a bit old. I would maybe try this place again in person but I don’t think I’ll be ordering nigiri anymore. Especially as the total was almost £60. Maybe I’d try rolls instead.

Nice place, good food, though might get crowded as many places in London tend to, with people standing on the narrow stairs waiting to get seated (and it wasn't even the evening, though it was on Saturday - I assume sometimes the queue could even get outside). The portions are quite fulfilling.

Worst experience in london so far. Asked about katsu curry when we came in and was told yes they have. Went to order it a few minutes later and they told us it was sold out for the night. Ordered a soda and when we opened it, it exploded. Then they forgot to serve my meal and tried to make us pay for it, even though we never recieved it.

Absoloutely divine Wagyu beef. Staff were very busy but still had an excellent time.
