All of the staff I spoke to were genuinely lovely and so welcoming, the food is the best in town, and the outside seating is near the river which is beautiful.

I had a lovely time here. Alex had brilliant customer service and made me feel very welcome, the food was delicious too. Highly recommend!

Lovely burgers - and a hilarious servers

Enjoyed our dinner, standard fries could of been hotter but we're lovely, our sever Alex was great and postive was lovely seeing him train a new staff member.

The food was tasty...I had the burger with Kimchi and my hubby had the burger with the added gravy, both were delicious. The chicken burgers were tender and succulent. The sauces offered were a welcome addition. The loaded fries were tasty and plentiful for us to share. Emilia looked after us and really knew the menu so gave us needed advice. We felt very welcome despite the place being quiet she gave the place a nice atmosphere. We will be back in the future. The food was very tasty and well worth a visit. The outside space was a nice addition overlooking the river/canal.

Not only was the food and drink (get your cocktails mixed by Kai) incredible, the service was perfect - could not recommend enough!!

Staff were great, however I'd say the food was overrated. Pretty good for the price but definitely not amazing as some reviews seem to imply..

Only complaint is now I have to drive home before I can take a chicken nap.

Table wasnt very clean on arrival, food was pretty nice, beef burger is very sweet. Chicken burger was very nice. Overall very good and would likely go back, for £14 a person its worth the money

I had an average experience here. The food was okay and chicken is better than KFC but below average in flavour. The atmosphere is quite nice but can be better. Service was good. But overall I didn't find anything special.

Great burgers next to the cricket ground. Been twice now and excellent both times. Lunch deal for £7 is a bargain

I’ve been coming to eat the bird frequently for a year and I must say it delivers every time, the food is class and there is a new special every month. The drinks are always top tier but if you do come to eat the bird you better hope Emilia is taking your order, she’s easy to talk to and always gets the order correct no doubt she’s the best waitress there

Had the smash burger which wad nice but not the best I've had. Chips were terrible, were grey in colour and obviously cooked in old disgusting oil. Service was fine but under staffed which caused the whole experience to be very slow.

Greatest restaurant in Taunton. Their hot chicken tenders are amazing. If chicken is your thing theres nowhere else anywhere near as good as these guys. Highly recommended. If you need an awesome server ask for alex

Amazing food, amazing staff and an amazing story.

Do not eat The Bird. Never have I ever been more dissatisfied with any meal in my life. The presentation was horrible. The chips, wings, and burger were not enjoyable. I wish at least something had tasted good; then I wouldn’t have felt so bad after driving 45 minutes to get here, only to be disappointed like this. This is the last time I’ll ever eat at The Bird.

The staff is incredible and so welcoming. But the food is terrible. We left within 10 minutes of receiving the food. Didn’t finish it. The chips although’home made’ are very oily, the chicken was also oily.. the wings were cold on the outside like if they were warmed up in the microwave… the place has a lot of potential if the menu and food got a few major changes.. unfortunately won’t be back.. the staff is lovely though, would be a shame if the place had to close down.. it needs major renovation especially the toilets..

Got the limited edition “Pretty Fly for an AI” which slapped hard. Buffalo wings is always good if you like Parmesan.

Stopped off here on the way to Cornwall and can't explain how good the experience was. We sat next to the canal with a pint each and food was to die for - in particular the chicken wings. Highly recommend, service was also spot on.

Always go here for special occasions. But recently has got worse. Was there sat lunch time. Food was only warm. Our server forgot we only had cutlery for 3 out of the five of us. Have asked for jug of water and also forgotten. Maybe new staff but spoil our visit.

Normally, we have a lovely meal, but unfortunately, last time, it wasn't up to its normal standard in Taunton. It wasn't busy, but the fries didn't taste fresh. The chicken strips were overcooked but not hot enough. The toilets were overflowing with rubbish as well. I don't like giving poor reviews, but it s much better when the boss is present! 😟

You can't go wrong. Get yourself a double dip chicken burger. It's a chicken burger with gravy in it...and a side of gravy to dip in. That's all I'm going to say about this one.

Visited last Sunday (31/05/24) lunch time and the food was really tasty and plentiful. My better half had "The Chicktator", whilst I had "The Furlough with chips". The service was good but a little slow but then I guess it takes time to produce the excellent food so can not complain really. The atmosphere was good but the choice of music was not to my taste and a little loud (is this a sign of getting old or what?). Needless to say we will be back again (and again, LOL).

I only have 4 stars because my chips were really over done, I like crispy chips but these were not good, they were well over cooked, shame as everything was great.

Been a few times now and everytime is fantastic. The best chicken you’ll ever eat. The batter is so tasty. Service by Alex is the best. I’m very fussy so menu was explained well and helped me customise my burger to suit me.

This business prefers to go cashless (I prefer to pay cash), some would say that they need to go client less too ! I ordered the ‘special’ burger, I expected something special or spectacular, it wasn’t, just ordinary (no salad garnish either) but the chicken did taste good, but presentation poor, salad adds colour and the dish would look more appetising. With a vanilla shake, the bill was £21 (incl fries), no wonder it was quiet !! I didn’t think ‘eat the bird’ will survive too long if they continue being cashless :-((

The food here was absolutely banging! Really tasty! The oreo milkshake was to die for, so creamy and not lumpy! One of the best I've tasted! Kai was a fantastic, really happy, helpful waiter. Great with the kids. Nothing was too much! Would definitely come back again soon. Thank you! X

A great place to eat with friends, food is better than expected. Special mention to Alex that served us, very friendly and helpful. I recommend the chicken tenders and loved the frickles. Also the biscoff milkshake was amazing. Loved hearing the old school hip hop being played bringing back memories with De la Soul.

I can’t fault the guy that served us as he was great, but the burger was just ok, just tasted like an expensive kfc burger and I left most of the fries as not the best and a lot of them looked a shade of green/grey like the potatoes used weren’t the best. Won’t be going back which is a shame as heard good things.

Ate at ETB in the King Street Brew House. Was particularly excited after big hype on social media. Massively disappointed. Ridiculously salty, to the point I thought someone was actually pulling a prank. My friend remarked that it was like in Theme Park World where you make the food extra salty so punters purchase more drinks. Price was steep for any bar meal, but factor in saltyness and £13 for wings, fries and slaw is just daft. Super disappointed. Save your money and go elsewhere.

We can't review the food, service or atmosphere as when we turned up for our prebooked table we were advised we couldn't pay cash & that's all we had on us. Come on guys, sort it out, cash is a normal way of paying!!

Ordered twice recently as part of their lunch deal. First time it was amazing and was very happy. Hot, lots of chicken and overall a great experience. Today, however, the chips were cold, tasted like they were yesterdays and only received 2 tiny pieces of chicken which were also chilly. So disappointed with this as I was excited to have found a great place to get lunch.

Hot. The staff are always top notch. Can recommend the Cluck me Sideways with the Texas Toast and if you're feeling adventurous go Xtreme with the chicken tenders and feel the burn.

The worst food I have ever eaten, we have eaten here many times in the past and always been nice but tonight was terrible. Food was cold tasteless and just not good. We waited 20 minutes for a glass of wine. The bill was £100 pound with the majority of food left on the table as it was so bad. We complained about the food as it's was cold so they microwave it, it came back within 2 minutes so we did not touch as there was chicken in the dish. No one came and checked our food after this. It look like the supervisor was not really doing anything and the young girl was running around serving everyone. On our way out we let the supervisor (who we think was the supervisor) about our experience didn't care or really want to know.

Let me start with the positives. The chicken burgers tasted fantastic (Double Dip and Ol' Dirty Bird x2) - possibly the nicest tasting chicken burgers we (me and the kids) had ever eaten and the chips were tasty and plentiful. That's the postives done with. Now for the not so positives. Food took over 45 minutes to arrive (no apology from the staff), the Double Dip burger was luke warm, we ordered a glass of wine that never came and I had to go to the counter and ask for it and the vegan burger was tasteless and quite "sad" to look at. Staff were not all all attentive and we even had to go to the till to pay as we were waiting for ages after we'd finished eating to get the bill. Ironically, they add a 10% service charge to the total, and once they've handed you the bill, ask you if you want it removed! Most places I go to, give you the bill and there is a discretionary tip button on the card machine if you wish to give one. I kick myself for being typically Bristish and saying it was fine, but honestly, we just wanted to get out of there as we'd wasted enough time just sitting around, so I couldn't be bothered to get them to make up a new bill minus the service charge. This place has so much potential, but unfortunately, like most eateries these days, the customer almost seems an inconvenience. If you're going into the hospitality business, do the best job you can and make your restaurant the envy of the town, don't let it bob along on the waves of mediocrity, as Eat the Bird seems to have done. Such a shame!

I can see why the buffalo wings are award winning, best wings I have ever tried 👏👏👏 but it would be unfair to not recognise the rest of my meal as it was all excellent. Personally my second visit, just as good as the first.

Me and my husband visit here all the time, every single time the service has been great. Everyone is super friendly and helpful. The food is 100% every time, huge portions and the best fries around! Soo crispy! They happily switch out the meat for crispy halloumi or fake chicken. Both delicious. When we visited for lunch a few days ago we had 2 of the best spicy margaritas. Perfect for the start of spring sitting in the sun outside. They were made by a lovely member of staff and I'm sorry I have forgotten your name! He hadn't worked there long but sorted everything for us and was brilliant. This is our favourite spot to visit especially during summer when we can sit outside. We've taken lots of friends and family here and every time it's amazing, plus there's always something new to try. In fact, after reading my own review back I might have to go there right now.
