Eastern Spice in Charnwood

We had an absolutely wonderful family evening for a double birthday celebration last night at Eastern Spice. The food was superb and, although the restaurant was deservedly very busy on a Saturday night for both dine in and takeaway trade, we were looked after very well by the friendly staff led Mitu, whom we've known for years from his days in Birstall. A visit to Eastern Spice is highly recommended, but do book in advance.

Great place to eat, food is amazing

This place for me is a class above all the rest in Loughborough, its cleanliness stands out and the service faultless. The portions are generous and the taste very satisfying reminding me of the old days.

We just had a takeaway delivered from here for four people, costing over £80, and honestly, it was a huge letdown. While it arrived on time, that’s about the only good thing I can say. Most of the curries were shockingly bland, with no fresh flavors at all. The onion bhajis were like chewing on rocks and had an odd, unpleasant taste. The special mixed korai was a joke—barely any meat, and not a single king prawn as advertised! The naan breads were tiny and hardly worth mentioning. For the price, this was a massive disappointment. We won’t be ordering from here again.

A really good indian restaurant with excellent service and a great menu. The staff are also very good to recommend a dish if you need help. I've been many times and always had a great experience.

This place is consistently good. We were there New Year's Eve and it was really busy, however, this did not detract from the excellent service and delicious food. Everything was super yummy and nicely served. We've been using this restaurant for quite some years now and highly recommend it.

We have been several times now with family and friends, it is always excellent in every way. I am dairy intolerant and their attention to that is brilliant. The portions are generous so beware if it is a pre-performance meal! The staff, food and atmosphere are all contributing factors to our rating. Always a pleasurable evening out. Thank you to all.

I had lamb as a starter and main. Lamb was awful. My friend enjoyed his food but he didn't have the lamb. Will not be returning.

Tonight was the first time I ordered from Eastern Spice, and no issues whatsoever. Delivery was exactly as promised, food was still very hot when arrived, and everything was very taste and could easily tell it was fresh and quality ingredients. Not cheap, not too expensive, perfectly reasonable prices for what you get I think. Would 100% recommend and will defo order again. Thanks

Visiting Loughborough for UK School Games, Looking for a curry and so glad we researched and found this place. Food and service was top notch. Cannot fault it other than the portions wer almost too generous!! Would 100% recommend.

Eastern Spice isn’t just the best in Loughborough, it’s one of my best of all time! The welcome is always warm, service excellent and the food is delicious. Presentation is always interesting and varied and my particular favourite, tandoori tilapia fish is the best I’ve eaten anywhere!

Mostly takeaway but have had couple of dinings busy on 1 occasion and quite on other but over all great food my favourite lamb,goat on the bone hot with extra chilli with peshaware nan with cheese.

We moved to the area earlier this year. Being fans of Indian food, we were keen to find a good local restaurant and takeaway. We cannot rate Eastern Spice highly enough, for both take away and eating in the restaurant. The staff are extremely helpful, nothing being too much trouble. They will take time to explain about dishes and adapt anything to individual requests - from spice level to omitting certain ingredients. The food itself is probably the best we’ve eaten. Everything is fresh and piping hot. The popadoms are crisp, light and without grease…..complimented with a good range of pickles. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend a visit.

We have been customers of Eastern Spice for a considerable number of years now and are used to the excellent food with great flavours, the friendly service and attention to detail of Mitu and his team, and the very pleasant overall ambience. This visit we were with friends from Leicester who had not visited Eastern Spice before, but are most familiar with Indian and other cuisines. As we said our goodbyes, our friend said “That was a really lovely meal; we will be back!” We are sure that he means what he says.

Had a lovely meal here as a group of 6. Our group tends to come here once or twice a year and have been doing so for 8+ years as the service is always brillant, the staff are always friendly and look after you and the food is delicious. Tonight I tried something new which was the chicken sag with pilau rice and I will definitely be ordering it again. Very reliable as far as quality and always a pleasure going here.

Really enjoyed the food. Service was spot on. Had a friend with us who never had a curry out before and the staff really looked after him and made sure he would be happy with his choice. I had tandoori prawn stater 10/10 then Chicken Naga. Nice and hot but still so tasty. Would recommend based on our visit. We had a table for 15 and all were impressed.

Best indian food I've ever had. The people in service are always the same amazing guys, doing their best to make you enjoy your evening. Amazing Naans, these are must-haves. This is a hidden gem in the area, as from the outside it looks like just another weird place. Definitely worth going to!

I ate here alone on a business trip to Loughborough. After wandering around looking for a decent place to eat I discovered Eastern Spice. The food was excellent, the staff were friendly, attentive and good-humoured. An excellent experience, and I would definitely return again if I’m in the area again.

Had an overnight stay In Loughborough and looked for somewhere nearby to eat. Came across Eastern spice by chance. Best Indian I’ve had for years. Food was gorgeous, came very quickly and piping hot. Very well cooked and full of flavour. Staff very pleasant and very much on the ball. Nothing too much trouble. Would love to go again as the menu was massive. Only problem I had was I was absolutely stuffed. I’ve had worse problems. Get yourselves there

Two of us arrived at 10pm on Friday evening without a reservation and the staff were happy to serve us. We’d already walked past three curry houses in the town centre with no customers, but this place still had people in which I think must be testament to their reputation. Service was good and friendly, and we never felt rushed. Poppadoms fresh and addictive, king prawn puri and lamb chop tikka starters both really tasty. Fish curry (madras?) and chicken dansak for mains, boiled rice and a really soft fresh peshwari naan. If we’d only been having mains we might have found the portions a little small, but as part of a larger meal they were great. Would love to see some more dessert options, but the mango kulfi we shared was nice. A bottle of house wine at around £23, so not cheap but not extortionate either. Everything felt clean and cared for. Overall we’d really recommend, and we’ll be returning!

Brilliant Indian food from lovely people. Very experienced owners and senior staff which shows. Great “old fashioned” experience in contemporary surroundings. We ordered the celebration lamb special and it didn’t disappoint. Highly recommend.

A great restaurant, can definately recommend. Pleasant attentive waiters and excellent food. I didn't rate the samosas but my husband thought they were ok, otherwise nothing to complain about at all.

This restaurant is excellent, the best Indian I have been to. The service is very good indeed and the staff are very smartly dressed, they even hold the door open when you leave. Food is superb with a lot of choice. This restaurant really is exceptional.

Absolutely superb probably best curry I've had .excellent staff

We were in the area for one night having booked a trip on the Great Central Railway. We chose this restaurant from the good reviews it had and we were not disappointed. My shami kebab starter was superb as was my husbands onion bahji. For main I had the chicken tikka buns accompanied by rice and a garlic nam. It was all delicious. Service was exemplary and the complimentary liquor at the end of the meal was a lovely touch.

This is my go to restaurant in Loughborough when working in the area. Up until 18 months ago this was simply stunning with exceptional service, quality food and Cobra.I’m not sure whether it’s because it’s been a while and I’ve missed this place but last nights visit exceeded all expectations.The service as usual was top notch, even down to explaining every dish when we ordered. The staff are so friendly and helpful, just really nice people.The popadoms were warm and fresh, the prawn puri, tandoori fish, sag aloo and dal Nan were beautiful. I look forward to my next visit.

Friendly welcoming staff, great service and lovely food. The tamarind dip with the poppadoms is a favorite. Have been here on date night, with our kids and with a group of friends/colleagues and am never disappointed.

Wow. So much to say. I had the Korai with lamb chicken and king Prawn. The taste was sublime and a perfect choice. The owner was attentive. The only downside is I am not local but if if I am ever in the area again would not hesitate to book. They should rename the restaurant Eastern Gem 💎 because that is what it was.

Staff amazingly attentive; atmosphere just lovely; food was the best Indian we’ve had in the UK… we had a vegan in our party and the staff couldn’t do enough to accommodate and explain the ingredients. I had the Tandoori Trout… it was spectacular and looked impressive… could eat it all so took it home!! Thanks Guys

Staff are really friendly, food is amazing , probably one of the nicest curry’s I’ve had, with such a good choice of meals available.

Been a few times before when it was great but the cooking this time was sadly disappointing. Onion Bhaji was dense and cloying, rubbery even. Balti was loads of uncooked onion, it felt very far away from a true Birmingham balti. It’s a shame as we were really looking forward to eating here. Perhaps it was a different chef to normal.

Seven of us had a great meal, with excellent customer service. Really nice atmosphere and decor. we had a variety of main meals and sides, and all were very well cooked, presented and tasty.

I read the reviews before went to the restaurant but Food was not that good, too much colour was present in the food, we ordered Chicken Biriyani but it was just tasteless, they gave us gravy with that which was too sweet and restaurant was very busy so couldn't get proper service! And the main thing was they didn't have high chair for my baby! I won't recommend this for proper Indian authentic taste..!
