Great service great food 10/10. Would definitely recommend to tourists travelling as a spot to have a great lunch. Plethora of options.

Popped in to have a coffee and panni. The shop is very nice but I was surprised 2 coffee's and one panni cost nearly £20. The coffees weren't very hot and not enough coffee, a few sips at most, more froth than coffee. Sadly I won't be returning.

I’ve just unwrapped probably one of the best Christmas tree ever. The service was excellent. I was a little anxious that it was wrapped up, but Mark explained that they are premium trees and graded to show that. I can honestly say that I wasn’t disappointed. Will definitely buy from East Side next year. Thank you so much!

Was having coffee with a friend. Was asked by the owner, Julie, to move over so that two men could sit down to have their food, at our table. What! Firstly, we did not know these men, and secondly, would not be a good idea with Covid around. We decided to leave as were upset by how rude she was being and asked for a refund for a further coffee that had been ordered. She refused to refund so had the further coffee at a table outside. I was particularly upset as it was the first time my friend had been to the place. I have been going there for several years. This is how she treats regulars! Needless to say it will be the last time I will be going there. Fed up with her sour attitude!

Served by a rude lady, who told my children to sit down whilst ordering. Menu needs updating as ciabattas have changed from panini’s. Felt unwelcome with children and aggressive customer service. Food wasn’t great

We have been shopping at easr side deli for quite a while now and have never been disappointed.Home made pies are really worthwhile trying as are the cakes.

This is always our first choice for a nice breakfast out. The food is delicious and the service excellent. It is of a very high quality, freshly prepared.The deli stocks a wide range of local cheeses and other tasty goodies. I picked up some truffle oil there which is amazing on potatoes! I would not hesitate to recommend this place - can't wait to go back there again.

We visited the cafe at lunch on a Saturday after a walk around the airfield, and found it very cosy and welcoming. There was a large range of food to choose from and the staff were very friendly. It was helpful as it is a dog friendly cafe and so we stayed for hot drinks and something to eat with our dog. There was a range of ethically sourced food including : vegetarian, vegan, gluten intolerant and dairy free meals. I would definitely visit again.

We have walked passed East Side a few times but never had the occasion to pop in. Wish very much that we had've done as it's a lovely place with excellent coffee and a long and temptimg menu. We normally take an Americano, get the real flavour, and East Side's offering was smooth and well made in both regular and larger cups. We decided to go pancake and these were fully satisfying a filling: maple syrup and bacon. East Side appears to be well run and for both table and take away service. We really couldn't fault it but realise that word of mouth and reviews are the best ways to inform other 'brunch lovers'!

Lived in area for a while . Always passed this place . Today went in for first time with a colleague, just needed a coffee and a place to sit and chat for 15 minutes . Really refreshing to find people who are so welcoming , coffee was superb . Like the fact that this is not a big chain . Some nice food produce for sale as well . Will be back and I can only apologise for having passed this by for so long .

Great range of QUALITY products. Personall bought Cheese, Cream, Bread and Oils here. Always excellent very personal service and nothing is too much trouble . Its an absolute must visit shop on the hill

We visited this morning for eggs Benedict. My friend had never tried it it was a special occasion for her. I did ring the deli the day before as its not on the normal menu and they were very accomodating. They were delicious. This is a lovely cafe and the couple that own and run it are very pleasent. Everything is gorgeous and cooked to order. I recommend you try it soon. Many Thanks for a great brekkie x

Just came back from having a lovely lunch at East Side Deli with my mum. I am about to give birth and received such a warm welcome. They were really accommodating offering free water and a loo for me to use!

Not my first visit to this gorgeous little gem in our town. On my first visit I had the pancake stack with blueberries and maple syrup, they were bloody gorgeous!

went here today for our first visit. My son and I loved it. I had the pancakes with bananas, ice cream and maple syrup and it was gorgeous. My son had one of their amazing sandwiches, coffee and milkshake. All was delicious and very good value for money. Its not a huge place and they seem to get really busy (not surprised) so be patient, its worth the wait. So happy they have come to Caterham, Soo looking forward to going back. Thanks so much x

This really is the best cafe, really relaxed atmosphere with amazing food. My whole family never want to go anywhere else and ask to come at least once a week! They have an amazing really varied menu and everything is fantastic. We all love the pancakes, paninis, scrambled eggs on sour dough and salads. The pashnshoot smoothy is Devine and the kids love their milkshakes. Would eat here every day if I could!!! Got to be tried.

I come here every weekend with my family for a delicious meal. The food here is always top standard and freshly made. The cafe has a New York vibe. The service is spectacular and the owners are extremely happy and very passionate about their jobs. I completely advise you to visit the cafe. You won’t regret it

Had a lovely sourdough sandwich avocado salad made specially for me but do offer vegan options cakes vegan as well.

Treated my husband to lunch today at East Side having previously visited for pancakes with my daughter and breakfast/coffee with friends. I am never disappointed with the quality of the food and coffee I have. The menu gives good variety. The staff are always welcoming and helpful. The only downside is it's size, I have on a number of occasions not been able to get a table and hope that they will expand in the future to enable more people to have this completely enjoyable experience.

I have now eaten here several times, and it is definitely something special!

We all have a friend who is impossible to gift for and then a friend showed me this cheese covered in wax from East Side and I thought about creating an artisan hamper. The owner was fab talking at length with passion about his products. So we have a hamper but also the chance to impress our foodie friend with really unusual cheeses with a story. Very friendly quant shop. Support these places if you can.

Such a brilliant addition to our village high street. Everything is good - service (with a smile and a dollop of banter), food - not the usual flabby sandwiches, but quality ingredients with flair, wide choice on drinks. The deli produce is a welcome bonus.

What a little delight East side is. I make sure I visit this lovely little cafe every time I stay with my sister. Whether it be for breakfast, brunch, cake and tea or to buy some lovely local cheese or home baked pies..and so much more. On walking In It oozes warmth and friendliness. Light jazz music in the background and quirky decor. The cafe is very small but that adds to the atmosphere and warmth. There is also seating outside and well behaved dogs are allowed in the cafe. (Very handy)

Full of character. Food is absolutely beautiful. So tasty and fresh. Friendly service and owner was chuckling away at us trying wrangle our 6 and 3 year olds. Very child friendly. Husband and I both agreed we would make an effort to go again.

Amongst a sea of big name companies, this is a cafe to rival any I've been to in London. Faultless coffee, service and the food is delicious. I've had simple marmite toast (with butter to die for) as well as their sandwiches before and the produce is locally sourced and delicious for it.

I don't really understand the previous review. The staff have always been lovely and friendly. It certainly doesn't have loud music. The coffee is delicious and a real passion of the owners. The pancakes are a delicious treat for a Saturday brunch with friends. The other goodies for sale are sourced as locally as possible with some fabulous breads and delicious cheeses. The cakes are enough to tempt even the most controlled dieter!

Always keen to avoid the corporate conglomerates I popped in to this little cafe as I had some time to kill and an urgent need for a morning caffeine fix.

We discovered this place several months ago and it's an absolute gem - by far the best breakfast / brunch you could ask for in the area, without a doubt.

This cafe is perfect for the area, not pompous just great food and great quality. Really comfortable atmosphere too. The staff are friendly &the; food is just simply delicious. I had the pancakes and I will for sure be returning. If this was in London it would be extortionate because the food is fantastic, however luckily for us it's perfectly priced. Fantastic gem and everyone should visit

What a lovely little place! Stopped by for a coffee - absolutely delicious. Nicest coffee in the area. Picked up some deli items too - delicious venison bresaola. Look forward to stopping by for longer next time and trying some of the other food on offer.

My husband and I went here a couple of weekends ago on a Sunday, after being told good things about this place. We wanted a change from our usual visits to costa in Caterham and wanted to support a local business.

Went here for a brunch with the family we had scrambled egg on sourdough with bacon. Absolutely delicious! They make one of the best chai lattes I've tasted as well. The pancake dishes coming out looked amazing and I had some serious food envy looking at them. It's a very friendly atmosphere in there, I will say get there early as the place fills quickly and is almost a victim of its own success, in terms of space.

Great place, great atmosphere, great owners, great food and drinks, great deli selection. I visit regularly and am never disappointed. I'm a massive fan of their quirky sense of humour too. A New York style deli selling good quality homemade, Artisan and local produce. What's not to love?!

I've had several coffees here since it opened and it has been OK but this recent experience was horrendous and upset me greatly. As the staff member stated she was the owner then others deserve to know so they can make their own mind up about visiting.

Visited with a neighbour who hadn't been before either. Pleasantly surprised that they do decaf and soya milk and almond milk and gluten free cakes. Don't get that offended especially in a little cafe. They sell local cheese, eggs, jams, chutneys and lovely looking pies. The lady also said if you order in advance she will do a tray of gluten free cakes for you to take away. Lovely coffee and I would have given five stars but for me the coffee needed to be a bit hotter. The raspberry and white chocolate gluten free muffin was delicious and not dry at all. Will be visiting again.

We were kept waiting for ages as we didnt realise we had to place our order at the counter. Staff could see the 4 of us were waiting, yet nobody could be bothered to approach us. A grrat eaterie plaves great service on a par with great food. I manage a busy restaurant in London and my staff would have been reprimanded for their lacksidical service. i4

It is just lovely. Perfect for a a catch up coffee, breakfast, lunch or a take away. I have eaten in here and had take away sandwiches a few times now and every time is the same high quality, fresh food and great service.

What an absolute gem of a place. Doesn't look much from outside but a wide selection of cakes to go with your coffee, really friendly staff and preserves, breads, vinegars and oils etc to die for. Everything you could want from a deli, my favourite the chocolate and chilli vinegar!

We didn't know what to expect when we first tried out the coffee shop but were really pleasantly surprised by its authenticity. The coffee is excellent as are the range of food on offer. We did not eat but the pancakes being eaten by another table looked great. It is a shame the premises are so small as it does get packed and a couple of times we have tried to get in but it was too full. Good to see in the summer there was extra tables and chairs outside on the pavement - excellent. Wishing Eastside every success. We will definately go again. .

Yummy hot bread and friendly staff in the small town. Many local people eat here. The price is medium.

This is a lovely quaint place for coffee on the high street. The sandwiches are incredible and the staff attentive. So glad their is a place like this in the local area.

What a delightful place. The eggs were delicious, no dairy and use of seaweed product instead of salt. The visit was rounded off by the friendly and welcoming staff. A New York deli experience on the local highstreet.

It was lovely to have a good meal that suited exactly what I needed as I'm following the body coach plan. It was delicious and nutritious. I treated my friend to a stack of pancakes and she was in heaven! They obviously care about sourcing their foods which is fabulous and suits my ethics too

A lovely place for a quick coffee and a sandwich, full of fun and friendliness. I had a simple sandwich and a coffee, and enjoyed it thoroughly!

A bit disappointing. Although the service was friendly the coffee was bitter and the food slow to arrive. Not only that the goats cheese portion in my sandwich was thin and therefore hard to taste as it was overpowered by both the bread, which was tasty, and chutney.

Been in 4 or 5 times now. Very good choice of food and drinks, staff always friendly, what more could you want? Superior in all ways to the chain offerings we get everywhere, hope they do well.

Popped out to grab a coffee and a catch up with my Son home from University. I also grabbed a cheeky fried egg and bacon sandwich. Firstly the staff were amazing, really friendly, helpful and looked like they really enjoy being there. The food was really good too - I know it was just an egg and bacon sandwich, but it wasn't too greasy, the bread was hand cut and really soft, bacon cooked perfectly and runny egg when you cut through. Coffee was good too, nice and strong, just how I like it. What's not to love?

Been in here a few times. They have some good deli items and the range is a little different. Some of the things are not cheap. Nice coffee and for to have two water early available as well. It can get busy and full so may not V always be a quiet coffee.

I have been visiting here for the last few weeks with my mum and over Easter have taken my children. Exceptionally friendly staff (very welcoming) great coffee and lovely food especially the pancakes and the hot cross buns. Definitely would recommend this lovely place.

I really recommend this much-needed independent deli / cafe in Caterham. The quality of the food and coffee is excellent as there is an emphasis on local ingredients. The great sourdough bread is delivered every day and is the only place for many miles around that has real artisan bread.

I had the blueberry pancakes with a tropical smoothie. The pancakes were clearly shop bought- they tasted exactly like the £1.50 Warburtons pancakes from the local Co-operative, and were dry in the middle. The blueberries weren't fresh, instead tinned, and too sweet, more syrup then blueberries. The cream wasn't fresh, but once again, shop bought and light. Even I could quite easily make this at home for half the price I bought it for there.

A much needed coffee shop in Caterham on the Hill. Julie and Mark are friendly and informative of where their produce comes from. They have a great selection of breads with lots of different tasty fillings. My favourite is the pulled pork and chilli jam - yummy. The tea is hot and the milk is served in old fashioned little milk bottles. There is a wide selection of oils, meats, cheeses and other delicatessen foods. I have been here several times and always delicious. The ambience is New York style so very sophisticated.

I had heard so many good thing about this place , so my expectations were high, It was extremely busy and very loud, there were several pushchairs in an already busy place, customers were squeezed in , and tables were very close together. It took three choices before the staff said they had the ingredients to fulfill the order, the food was ok . but the feeling of being hemmed in didn't , make for a pleasant visit . Coffee was good and the staff very pleasant and helpful, think if I go again it will have to be when its less busy .

Very nice, knowledgeable staff who know a great deal about the predominantly local food sold in their deli. The three Pannini we had were a delight, as was the coffee. Definitely a place to revisit.

Spent hours in this fab Deli chatting to a friend on our first visit.The owner was so knowledgeable about everything on the menu ( and the coffee choice ). I have never actually had so much help choosing what to eat before anywhere! I ended up being adventurous (very unlike me where food is concerned ) and having a " Hudson " tuna, olives, capers rocket an special dressing served on a lovely specialty bread. It was so lovely i am thinking i need to pop back in tomorrow for another one. You can tell the owners have put their heart an soul into this fairly new deli and that really makes a difference to me as the customer.

The coffee at East Side is the best for miles around, far superior to chain coffee shops. To add to that you have a great selection of local produce for sale and interesting American style sandwich/panini fillings. The staff/owners are really friendly and very knowledgable about what they are selling, I'd recommend any one to try it out.

I've been to this deli several times and had a different "New York" meal every time. It's a change from usual sandwiches and with so much taste and flavour. Mark & Julie make everyone feel welcome and have a wealth of knowledge regarding all the organic food they serve and sell. Home-made cakes add to the many on sale - I love Marks' bread pudding.

Visited here a couple of times and have been really impressed. Such a range of sandwich fillings to choose from. Had a New York Empire State in a ciabatta, so much taste, lots of filling, great for my lunch. They also do a range of deli bits and bobs (as well as cakes and pies), the rillettes is really good. Chewy white bread for sale is great, amazing as toast. Definitely worth visiting

Thought id give this new deli/ coffee house a go as I had read such good things on Social Media. It is a great new addition to Caterham on the Hill and just what the town needs a trendy, friendly cafe with a great selection of coffees, pastries and lunches. It even has a deli counter selling cheeses and pies to take away. I will be returning for sure, if only to taste the almond pain au chocolate again which was delicious.

Good new cafe in Caterham on the Hill - coffee shop and deli. Great coffee and cafes. Lunches looked good too but we didn't try this time. Will return.
