Outrageously overpriced. We had 1 quiche, which arrived with no salad garnish. We asked the waitress if it should come with salad, she said oh yes and took it away. Came back with a very small amount. When we got the bill it was £3 for Salad and £9 for the quiche. One piece of cake was £7. We had tea for 2. A very small pot enough for one small cup each. Charged £9. For tea!!! Absolutely overpriced. Quality of quiche was good but carrot cake was not exceptional for the price. Service fine All seating now downstairs only so a bit cramped. As you can tell I will not be going back. Shame.

DO NOT VISIT HERE!!! We visited as tourists and decided to support a local small business. Really wish we had went to costa down the road. 15 pound for 3 coffees! There was a dog (owners dog) freely wandering about frint of house and in the kitchen. Owner seemed abrupt and rude. NO SIGNS ANYWHERE WITH PRICES! Toilets are upstairs in a cluttered room. Really avoid this place.

My wife and I love a nice coffee shop /tea room where we can sit and enjoy the surroundings. As mentioned this place is not cheap but that said we are always happy to pay a little more if the experience is worth it. Unfortunately this place is 100% NOT WORTH IT. We ordered a coffee and a tea plus a couple of slices of homemade cakes (Victoria Sponge and Brownie). Older lady who seemed to be the owner took our order and was very rude so that should have been the warning for us to leave. Drinks when they arrived were nice but when my wife tasted her sponge and immediately spat it out as the cream was sour and hard sponge. These things can happen so I raised it discreetly with the owner to not make a scene. She snapped at one of her team to "sort this now" and walked away. The lovely girl went to remove the cake from the unchilled self but the owner again shouted at her to "Just leave it". We felt very awkward and left as quickly as possible leaving our drinks and the other very dry cakes. We walked past this place for the next 3 days and that very same sour gone off cake remained on the shelf potentially to be sold. We know it was the same cake due to a finger print in the cream so she clearly never replaced it. This lady treats her young staff with total disrespect and obviously has no health standards for her products. She didn't check the cream so can't help but wonder of it had been raised before so who knows how long that cake had been sat there. Did also notice the place was busy but lots of people leaving full plates of food says it all. Plenty of other places than here.

Hugely overpriced mediocre food. £4.75 for one pot of tea which gave me about a small cup and a half. I had fried egg sandwich £7.50 and partner had full breakfast at £14. I mean it tasty fine but adding on the price, it’s way way too high. Yes we should have looked before we went in. I agree with the other comments, loads of food uncovered and at those prices probably sat there for days. We didn’t check the toilets, probably best idea! We most definitely will not return.

Please don’t take the negative reviews too much to heart, this place is wonderful if you like character and excellent food (good sized portions). Lovely Tara is great front of house and made sure we had exactly what we wanted and were happy. All other waiting staff great too. The place is tight for space but that’s part of its charm, together with each item of furniture and decoration having interest and no doubt some history behind it too. All in all a super experience, will definitely return and unreservedly recommend.

We were visiting Berwick and unfortunately hadn’t checked out the reviews before trying this cafe. It looked good on entering with attractive cakes, scones etc. This said, appearance can be deceptive. On paying our bill we were shocked that the lattes were £4.75 each! We didn’t realise this price until we received the bill. We go out for coffee several times a week and have never been charged this price even in capital cities where prices are generally higher. Clearly this is an issue that has been identified by many other customers which makes us feel that clearly the owners do not care that their customers feel ripped off. The scones were average and lacked flavour. This was a very disappointing and expensive mistake. We would certainly recommend avoiding this place unfortunately.

It seems like a nice place but I was truly shocked that a simple black coffee - all I had - cost £4.75. This not Manhattan or Tokyo but Berwick upon Tweed. Tesco's finest Colombian coffee 227g costs £3.90 and you must be able to get 11-13 cups of coffee from that. A tea would have cost the same - £4.75 - but 40 Twinings tea bags cost £3.60 at Tesco. It must take less than a minute to pour hot water onto a tea bag. I've lived in big cities so know coffee is more expensive but I've just returned from Madrid where a standard coffee - coffee and milk - can be bought often for 1.5 euro. There is no justification for such price gouging in a small town such as Berwick upon Tweed. Using the 'Deli' name does not justify this. Make a profit on the food but - £4.75? really? I hope you take this constructively as it did seem a nice place (but I was not willing to order food if the mark up was so great).

My husband and i went there on Thursday 17th Jan for lunch and we had our little dog with us. We both had the chowder soup, a black coffee and a latte. I can’t believe we were charged £33.00 for 2 soups and 2 coffees. We have never paid that much anywhere in Berwick for soup and coffee I did query it and was told that was correct. So each bowl of soup was £12 . Sorry but that was a complete rip off. Are you sure the soup wasn’t £8.00 each and not £12.00 each? Photo attached of the soup and coffee and there current price board on there Facebook page. I sent them a message to query the price and at first all I got was a thumbs up until I asked what that meant. The most that is charged anywhere else in Berwick upon Tweed for “special soup” is £7.00 for lunch/dinner. The cafe was nothing special loads of tables and chairs squashed in. Even the soup and coffee in question was mediocre and definitely not worth a bill of £33.00. Definitely will be letting friend know and will not be going again. There are much nicer places in Berwick with a better ambiance and cheaper prices a better quality of food.it’s a total rip off especially for people who are on a budget😡

Food here is lovely, especially the cakes and crab sandwiches which are expensive but so hard to get now that the cafe on Holy Island has changed hands and don't seem to bother. Dog friendly too. However we could not get over the feeling of being ripped off for over £10 for a couple of very average teas/coffees. I hate writing an even remotely negative review about a nice business which is surviving in harsh times for the high street, but the owners really need to see reviews like this to address this because we would hesitate to come back (bad news as we have moved here and visit a few times a week). It would also be nice if the seating wasn't so cramped (there was an upstairs seating area closed off) and that the staff didnt choose the smallest/worst looking bakery products to dish out first leaving the most delicious/large ones on display (to be fair the bakers down the road does this as well, must be industry standard haha). Pick your cake and point to it.

£4.75 for a de-caff tea and just over £5 for a latte, payment on leaving, I was astounded, I had to ask the assistant if she had got it right, she said yes it’s an extra 50p for decaf, no prices on show, if there had been we would not have stayed. The de-caff tea was left as it wasn’t so great, the lattes were not even filling the cup and had to ask for extra milk. On our last visit, I had an amply filled fresh holy island crab sandwich accompanied by a piquant salad and my partner had a bacon ciabatta which was laden with dry cured bacon. We always try and return later in the afternoon for one of the delicious home made cakes and mellow coffee (highly recommend the carrot cake). The quality and flavour of all the food is second to none and for the taste sensations on offer, is excellent value for money. We return here time after time and can highly recommend!

This establishment offers good-quality produce and a decent, enjoyable breakfast and/or afternoon tea. In practical terms, the place is rather chaotic and chock-full of antiques and sundry fripperies; our table was, quite simply, too small to fit two breakfasts upon, forcing me to shift some...

I really like it here. They do an absolutely banging bacon ciabatta and all sort of sandwichy things, a good cup of coffee and lots of tempting cakes. A really nice attitude too. Sometimes not everything is available but it's all nice in my experience.

Popped in for a take away and bought two slices of quiche, and was staggered to be asked for £12. This is two slices in a cardboard box, not to eat in on a plate with salad and coleslaw. I estimate that the size of...

Excellent sandwich, good coffee and friendly service. Also very welcoming to our 2 dogs. Prices pretty much what you’d expect for quality food and drink.

Quirky deli in Berwick upon tweed. Upstairs seating area has style and charm. Went for lentil soup which was homemade and very tasty. Lakeland butter was very nice.

After walking round the walls and in need of a quick snack this was the first place we came to. The scones looked nice, both cheese and fruit. We ordered to take away and sat at their tables outside which were a bit wonky due...

Called in at lunchtime for a couple of drinks. This is the second time but no more. A man, the same on both occasions standing at bar had the foulest loud mouth He was actually talking to the barman and two others Every other word began with "f' He had a dog with him This time he pulled seat out at one of the tables for his dog to sit at Absolutely disgusting. My husband mentioned to barman who grinned and apologised Not good enough

Stopped off for breakfast and found automation had caught up with Morrisons, in the form of an automated ordering system. Finding our way around the screen wasn't quite as easy as big Mac and KFC equivalents but we did manage it, only just. Wanting to pay by cash, however, was even more difficult as the robot doesn't accept anything except credit cards so customer, much against the chagrin, had to use plastic. The breakfasts, when they arrived, was excellent and without doubt value for plastic.

Nice little hotel bar right on the Main Street of Alnwick I had drink several times during our stay in Alnwick. Margaret had the chilli which she said was nice. I wasn’t hungry so had the potato skins which came with a barbecue sauce and garlic mayo, which were ok but out of a bottle.

The cafe prices are ludicrous. £3.45 for a toasted tea cake with barely any fruit in it is ridiculous as is a fiver for two cups of tea and £9 for a cooked breakfast!! The staff are not the most pleasant either. Sadly the shop and garden centre prices are way off the scale too compared to most other garden centres. Definitely would not recommend or revisit.
