Dynasty Cantonese Restaurant in Cornwall, Isles of Scilly

Very disappointed. Unfriendly staff, he forgot how to smile. Difficult for him to understand order. Food was average. Time place given a refresh. Toilets not very satisfactory. Charged far too much! Will not be going again. (Gone downhill when last visited 4 years ago).

I do like it here but it’s started getting a bit too pricey for me. Plus they took duck off the menu. The ice cream spoons need rinsing off more often too.

Ordered takeaway, food was excellent easily some of the best chinese food we have eaten. It was ready for collection promptly. No issues at all 5 star.

There is no denying the interior is tired but that should not put you off. We have been visiting this place for over 20 years and the food has always been great. The staff are quiet and very efficient, as its a buffet they ensure everything is kept well stocked. They are not invasive and clear away the plates constantly. The deserts are quirky, everything from lychees to jam tarts. This is a great place for families and excellent value.

Called in tonight for the buffet meal and it was very good. Despite all the negative reviews we couldn't find any fault with the staff or choice of food. £19 per head was very good value, with loads of hot food (had five plates). The choice of puddings were amazing as well. Don't be put off by the reviews it's a great place to eat .

Came on a Thursday night for the buffet, the staff were very attentive and the interior was cute! I kind of prefer when places look like they’ve been open a long time because it means they must be good! There was no point where anything in the buffet was running low, and a really nice choice of foods As a vegetarian it would have been nice if things were labelled for dietary requirements more, but I it’s not something most buffets I find do so can’t complain too much The actual food itself was crazy good, and clearly all cooked well. I’ve seen some reviews say that it was too greasy of hurt their stomachs but I feel like compared to other Chinese restaurants I’ve been to in the uk it really wasn’t, and mine and my meat eating partner’s stomachs felt fine after :D There was a lot of dessert choices, not really what I was expecting (e.g. Swiss roll, cupcakes, cheesecake) and maybe I would have liked to see more traditional dessert options, but if you like classic British sweet treats then there’s a good selection! There was 3 buffet station things, containing a wide variety of dishes If you have picky kids they had some options like plain chicken, chips, onion rings etc It was I think £17 something, pretty decent for a buffet in this economy, especially if you come hungry! Overall would recommend 👍

Wow, it was like going back to the 80s. Not in a good way!! You were greeted by a filthy carpet and a old swing bin.The decor, tables an chairs etc were tired to the point of sending things to the dump. The service was prompt but the people needed to smile at least once. You were not given a menu with the price of the "All you can eat food ." The food was average with quite a good selection but the presentation left a lot to be desired. when the food was being restocked the man picked up a chip and went back to the kitchens eating it! We had fizzy mandarins for a sweet and the deserts looked as if they came straight from Iceland. It was certainly an experience, no to be repeated.

We went as a family of 5 for my parents and sisters birthday . We travelled 100 miles as this is our favourite and stayed the weekend locally. Excellent food and great service, friendly and well priced so we will of course return! I would recommend the Buffet as its extremely tasty and a wide range of dishes to cover all needs. Even has a chilled desert cabinet and you end up going back multiple times. Great work and thank you we all very much enjoyed our visit :-)

This is a good colorful Chinese with a large car park. It offers a full menu choice or the opportunity to pay less and pick your own from a buffet selection

We saw a menu on the website, so we decided to give the restaurant a try as we'd seen that the carpark had been very busy for the past few evenings. We were shown to a table and ordered drinks. When the waiter came back he said go for the buffet when you're ready. No thanks, I said, we'd like the menu. No, only buffet. But you are doing take aways from the menu, no only buffet for restaurant. So buffet it was. It was just awful. Soggy spring rolls, slimey chicken in the sweet and sour, generally very greasy and unpleasant tasting. We had less than a plate full each but beside us was a table of 4 men who were repeatedly going up for more. So maybe a bit like marmite, you either love it or hate it. Also as we looked around we realised how dirty the place was generally and decided to leave. The buffet was £16.95 each and on paying the bill we saw we were also charged £9 for a glass of wine!

Dreadful food, very greasy and seems like all food cooked in same oil!! We had takeaway but that shouldn’t affect quality of food. I just don’t think the Cornish can do Chinese food as nowhere is good. I was poorly the next day, sick and tummy cramps. 🤢🤢🤢

Called in for the buffet, but it was very busy, waitress said the best time to call back would be at 8.30- 9pm the following night, we got takeout instead but these were the smallest portions we have ever seen. Went back the next night at the time they suggested, for the buffet, but was told although it's usually open until 10pm they decided to close it early, it had been closed for an hour when we arrived they tried to get us to have the sit down menu instead, but we have seen the portion sizes and the prices so that was a no! The place was full so I can't see why they would shut the buffet so early. We always used to come here but never again, found another in Penzance center, will go there in future.

It’s on the road between Penzance and Falmouth, so conveniently positioned with plenty of parking. The food is ok and reasonably priced, however, it needs renovating; the gents toilet door is hanging off, for example. Also, my cup for my Jasmine tea had a wet napkin in it.

the restaurant is completely disgusting, it looks like it hasn't been cleaned in decades. If thats what the actual restaurant and exterior of the building looks like, I dread to think about the kitchen and behind the scenes. I bet its a matter of time before this place gets shut by health and safety. We was gonna give the place the benefit of the doubt, but it was actually shockingly grim.

We have visited Dynasty over the course of several years when on holiday in Cornwall. I can honestly say during that time we have never had any issues with this restaurant. Food is reasonably priced for an all you can eat buffet, is always hot and of reasonable quality. Yes, the decor is a little tired but has been improved over the course of the last few years. Staff are always very polite, helpful and efficient. On this our most recent visit we found it no different to normal, however after reading the most recent reviews we were a little hesitant. We were one of the last customers on a Monday evening and staff were anxious to ensure we still had sufficient choice and even cooked us an individual portion of noodles and chicken balls. Buffet hot serving counters were being thoroughly emptied and cleaned as we finished our meal. Dynasty is a good, reasonably priced Chinese restaurant. It is what it is, worth a visit for a quick meal. We have never had any issues.

I was dreading going as I read a previous bad review but was very surprised as the food was delicious and hot. Everywhere was clean and the staff were very attentive and very polite. Will definitely be going there again.

Food was average except for the deep fried seaweed which came covered in sugar!!! Tbh it was disgusting. As the meal was a takeaway I couldn’t be bothered to return it as it would have cost more in fuel. Restaurant could do with a refurb as tired. Wouldn’t recommend though.

So pleased I went with a previous recent diners recommendation rather than take notice of bad reviews. The food was glorious and plenty of it. Fantastic selection of dishes for each course. Offered clean plates no matte how often we went up. Staff were very helpful and polite. Can't wait to go back or even get a takeaway when passing.

Honestly disgusting. Do not visit here if you’re looking for a nice all you can eat buffet. Plates, cutlery and glassware all dirty/greasy. The hot food buffet stations are vile, months if not years of grime built up on the surround. I had a spider in my noodles, another guest had raw chicken. Will be in contact with food and hygiene.

Some of the food was ok however this place used to be packed however it’s dropped massively and I believe it’s due to the rude staff, I was seated for my birthday and I asked politely if they had any rums and the waiter put the menu in front of me and said menu as if to say look, makes me think he had no idea! When we went up to get food there was what looked like years of grease and mild build up all over the surfaces plus flies landing on and off the food! We all got our food and sat down and my sister then saw a slide in amongst her food! My glass wasn’t washed properly as it had a solid piece of what I can only describe as old food stuck to my glass! I’m just ashamed as I recommend this place to my family for my birthday meal, and it’s not how I remember it at all! Very upsetting to be honest and I’m surprised a health inspector hasn’t closed you down yet!!

We chanced upon this restaurant as a drive-by - it provided a reasonable selection at a reasonable value. We did not book but walked in shortly after opening time - clearly it was very popular as it was filling up as we left. We were provided with plastic gloves to use when serving ourselves from the buffet but no advice was provided regarding mask wearing which I think might well be a good idea given it is a serve-yourself buffet.

Sunday lunch buffet has lots of variety and choices. The food is all very fresh and the restaurant makes sure that everything is Covid compliant. Good access and parking.

Visited last night for the buffet. Mixed expectations when reading the reviews but decided to give this a try whilst on holiday. Food was terrible. Luke warm at best, most of the trays empty with little being topped up, rice, noodles, chips very dry and a lot of what was left was tasteless and poor quality. Very expensive costing over £100 for 4 adult and 2 children considering what was available and the quality of food. Will definitely not go here again and absolutely do not recommend.

Very nice food, £15 for adults and £7.80 for children. Little lady was very impressed with the watermelon & salad section & is adult we’re very happy with the other food on offer. I have asthma so I've been avoiding restaurants due to the covid risk, we decided to take a look to see if it was safe, as we'd been here before and loved the food. I need not have worried as this must be the most covid safe restaurant in the UK! I am so happy we went. First they test your temperature with a gun, then they give you gloves and ask you to wear a mask when you're not seated, you only get up to top up your plate or use the toilet, so it's not too long to wear one and it keeps everyone safe. Anti maskers are not welcome and that's what makes it so safe, I would not eat buffet food if someone had been breathing over it. The seating is social distanced and it's spotlessly clean, the toilets are clean too.The food is amazing, good selection of perfectly cooked food, the meat dishes have plenty of meat, it's top quality and tastes so good. One unusual thing is the huge selection of deserts, buffet restaurants usually have a poor desert selection, not here, there's the best selection I've ever seen! We loved it so much we went back later in the week!We also ordered take out and the special satay I had was wonderful. We had a very rainy holiday, but this place made up for it, I'm now on a diet, but it was worth it!

Just had the Friday night buffet and can’t fault this place. The staff are very friendly and efficient, temperature check on arrival, and they ask you to wear a mask and wear disposable gloves when getting food from the buffet stations, but that’s a small price to pay for the excellent food. We booked a table for 7pm. I’m exempt for wearing a mask due to asthma and was refused upon arrival due to a mask and basically told I couldn’t be served.

Passed this gem many times whilst holidaying and promised it a visit.Lunchtime buffet brilliant and I mean brilliant.Covid tested at door, masks and gloves provided and staff masked etc. precautions very impressive.Food fresh, tasty and plentiful. My husband and I decided last minute to go have a meal we both wish we had not . After being seated at a table for two we ordered our drinks the glasses were not clean . We then went up to the all you can eat buffet started with the starters cold chips greasy tasteless spring rolls could not eat them . Fatty cold duck again tasteless. Moved on to main meal all dishes looked like they had been sitting there since the afternoon. Decided on sweet and sour chicken and noodles . The noodles tasted of metal totally inedible and to be honest I had to spit the chicken out in to a napkin as it made me gag . Desert well cheap and cheerful . Coast 15 pound each and came away hungry total waste of money the place needs a deep clean . Don’t waste your money very disappointed and will never go again

Visited Packet Inn earlier in the week but wish we had gone to Dynasty instead. Excellent service, replenished buffet every few minutes and authentic Cantonese taste. This was the best Chinese food we have enjoyed in ages. The noodles taste as though we were in Hong Kong - we know - we lived there!

Had a takeaway from here whilst on holiday. It was for our wedding anniversary but was upset with the food. Would not recommend at all. Had crispy duck as a starter - they cut it up and left in bones and gristle - yuck. Then we had three other dishes which we had to throw away as tasted horrible. Couldn't be bothered to tell the restaurant but definitely would not get anything from there again.

The prices were very reasonable but the quality was variable: Toasted Prawn with Sesame Seeds not good and not much prawn noticeable **Chilli Spare Ribs bore little resemblance to ribs. All about 1 inch sections that were too tough to eat *King Prawns with Chilli & Garlic Sauce: very nicely cooked and great sauce ****Lemon Chicken : ok average ***Deep Fried Crispy Squid: batter soggy and chewy, flavour dull but the chilli sauce it came with was great **Deep Fried Prawn Rolls: prawns were ok but the rolls were chewy not crisp **Prawn crackers: these were great and free! *****Over all not recommended. Don't normally leave reviews and was shocked to see the rateing so low. I use to live in bodmin and go to a Chinese called wongs and I now live in pz I couldn't find one anywhere near as good until I explored and even made the risk paying for them to deliver to me. By far the best I've had even beat my old local in bodmin the meat just melts in your mouth. The sauce is mouth watering. Highly recommended to anyone. It's a must try 100% don't take my word for it you honestly got to try for yourself. Also got to add friendly happy service received

The three of us fancied a take away while we were in our holiday home about a mile away. We chose a variety of chicken dishes, chicken curry, chicken chow mein, lemon chicken, salt and chilli chicken, special rice, egg fried rice, sweet & sour sauce. Everything looked good on the plate, no gloopiness or grease as found in some other places. Nice and hot temperature wise, very tasty, good quality, clean, food at reasonable prices, the bill came to £30.10 for three of us to fill our faces. I'm quite critical when it comes to eating Chinese but this was good, and I would definitely return again.

You know what a squirrel looks like when their mouths are full of nuts,,,,That was me eating my takeaway,, didn't care about table manners or table etiquette, the food was too good. The duck in plum sauce melted,,, One of the best Chinese food I have had in my life, well worth the drive to pick it up. Full of flavours, wonderfully cooked meat. I fear this restaurant may seriously damage my monthly budgeting. A real feast, so tired of disappointing Chinese food but this was absolutely delicious, even the noodles were fabulous. Can not recommend it enough ! !

We have always been a bit wary of this place as it is a bit 'rough and ready' inside, but decided to risk a takeaway having not eaten from here for a while and were really pleasantly surprised! We ordered in online on their website and it was delivered very quickly, piping hot and really tasty!We will be back!

A brilliant night out in this time of strangeness. We ticked all the dishes we wanted to try and they were brought out the table to share. There was a good selection and plenty of food. We had one fussy eater and the staff were very helpful and got him plain chicken skewers and chips.The puddings were ice cream, fruit, cheese cake and chocolate cake. There were some sides of sweetcorn if you order sweetcorn then a bowl of sweetcorn will arrive.

We enjoyed a lovely buffet despite the fact that we absolutely messed up the ordering system as you can see in the photo! The kind staff couldn’t help us enough and proceed to bring endless platefuls of food to our hearts content even to the point where it was a struggle to walk out the door. Were pretty excited to get a chinese, but when we arrived we realised it was buffet only, for £15.00 per head. Thought we'd give it a try - the starters were okay, spring rolls, some kind of samosa and seaweed. Then for mains we realised there was only 1 vegetarian option (plus veg chow mein and rice), which looked like a grey-brown sludge, next to 20 meat options. We ended up just filling up on spring rolls, and leaving in a hurry. Definitely not worth the money..

The food here is tasty and there is an excellent variety on the menu. Lovely atmosphere and friendly staff.

We booked a table at 7 and the team were very well organised there. Good COVID-19 procedures in place, temperature checked and given gloves and face masks to don, whilst self serving for the buffett. Food was fresh cooked, well seasoned and very tasty. Thoroughly enjoyable time had and food was as good as it always is.

I came here with my family,for a meal out and was pleased to find they were still doing the buffet. On entering the restaurant you are greeted by a member of staff, who then takes your temperature, and hands you a face mask and glove to wear when you go upto the buffet. Tables were laid when you sat down, food was delicious as usual. Added bonus is they are part of the 'Eat out help out' scheme. Would recommend booking in advance.

Unfortunately food was not good. Fried rice wasn’t fried rice I used to eat, dishes were all same, just meat was different. I do not recommend.

Don’t expect the very finest Chinese cuisine here but do expect value for money and to leave fit to burst! The eat all you want buffet is always well stocked, plenty of king prawns and meats and they keep right on top of refreshing everything. An excellent variety to choose from.The place is desperate for a refurb and for gods sake a new carpet, but when you’re hungry and so are the kids it’s a great place to head to and fill right up for not a lot of money. It’s cheap, cheerful and does the job.

We went here last year in the July 2019, I went with my husband and a family friend. its the best Chinese buffet we ever had! We loved every dish, usually I only like about half of the buffet dishes, but here I LOVED every one! It also has a good range of desserts. when we came home we couldn't stop talking about it. The prawn dish was especially amazing This year our holiday was cancelled due to covid and we were more upset about not being about to come here than missing the rest of the holiday! Hope to be back in 2021.The only down side is that soft drinks are expensive,

My wife and i went here on the 15/02/2020 and had the all you can eat selection the choice of food was excellent nice and hot and as soon as something got low it was topped up straight away excellent value for money.

Great atmosphere, glad the miserable bloke from last time wasn't there. Could not complain coz apparently he was friends with the boss man. Great food, excellent atmosphere

We had the serve yourself buffet, all the food on offer was very good, the place was quiete busy but the staff were very attentive clearing plates and restocking the buffet, parking was easy , all together a very enjoyable evening

Ok, not the poshest of restaurants but for £12.00 a head (adult) we felt it was good value without complaint on the standard of the food on offer. Staff were very friendly, table cleared promptly between platefuls. Meal for four with four pints of coke was £60.00, cheap eats. Food choices were fine and sweet selection with ice cream was adequate. Worth a visit for an easy meal out.

The place was clean and the staff was friendly could Not fault that.When it came to the food the buffet choice was ok and it looked and smelt ok. I had not eaten all day as we was excited to try this place recommended by friend of a friend. The food was COLD it was not the end of the evening we got there not long after it had opened. The curry sauce was literally cold it made me gag and the food was lukewarm to cold. Everybody else round the table complained about it being cold even the kids. Now the taste of the food was ok not to bad nothing to write home about but the food was cold which has worried me for food possible food poisoning and my friend was worried too. The staff were polite so we just smiled rushed threw paid and left. We had stumbled across this place on a day out so really was excited to try it and left very disappointed it cost me just under 60 pounds for cold food and we left hungry. We went to Costa for hot choc later to warm us up. Won’t be returning shame cause it’s good size building lots of potential just need to step up on the food For a start making sure it’s to a temp that won’t make your customers poorly.

Food always fresh and a good selection, enough selection to cater for most people. If you leave hungry it's your own fault. Very pleasant and helpful staff.
