Ordered over £80 worth of food usually awesome. On checking the delivered food I noticed a dish missing so phoned and was told it would be delivered later, Once they'd quietened down.!!. No problem I said as that dish is not needed at the moment as it's for someone who isnt here yet (at work). At 20.45 we've heard nothing from them so I decided to phone them, to be told that they were closing, had been really busy, and couldn't deliver and would write a credit in the bloody book against my address so I could use it next time!!! No food for person who came home very hungry after work! We will not be returning! Keep the credit, very disappointed.

Quite possibly the worst chow mein I've ever had visited while I'm down on holiday food was awful I eat a lot of Chinese and needs to be really bad for me to complain even my wife and daughter said chow mein no taste to it very dark and greasy also never had stir fried mushrooms so bad unbelievable how poor

Top notch sweet and sour chicken. It's been our regular Chinese since the 90s and still more often than not is cracking food and fast service.

Had a chicken and sweetcorn soup and spring roll and was very shocked to see the size of the soup container. It was the size of the sauce pot. 12 spoonfulls to be precise. With only 2 very small bits of chicken in. It was tasty but just not enough of it. This is the second time they have reduced the amount. They need to keep the quality and amounts and if necessary put the price up a little. The spring roll was tasty but again it was full of bean shoots. They used to have other ingredients in. Eg.. bits of ham etc.. I get the feeling this is how they are copeing with the cost of living. They need to know customers have the same problems.!

Honestly disappointed and disgusted by the hygiene here. Whilst sat for food we watched our ribs be dropped on the floor and then picked up having bits picked off from where the ribs had fallen on the floor, then we watched them get put in the container and given to us. When mentioned to a family member they said how they’ve seen the staff thawing out food in the window, uncovered with flies all over the meat. We will now avoid at all cost.

Ordered a takeaway and it was delivered on time. Food was lovely and hot and was delicious.

Despite being regular customers, we are done with it. Frequent errors with orders, both delivered and collected. The dreadful response when contacted regarding wrong / missing items. Accused of lying- why? It is in no one’s interest to lie about an order. It’s just plain annoying when having to wait for missing/ correct food to arrive. The ridiculously long time expected to wait when ordering home delivery. Often a 1.5-2 hour wait. Obviously walk ins given priority. A take away is no longer a cheap and cheerful option. It has become more and more expensive, and you expect to receive what you order in a timely manner, with the food being adequately hot. It is also reasonable to expect to all be able to eat food together, not with one eating and the other waiting for food to be re delivered. The final straw, is the unacceptably rude attitude of the female staff member when we phoned to inform them of missing items. I was told “ it’s always you that has problems with your order “- clearly not, reading other reviews, and obviously not our fault! Her tone and attitude was disgusting, and she would benefit from some serious customer service training, or getting a Saturday job involving no face to face/ telephone contact with the general public. It’s a shame, as on the whole, the food is good.

We went back again because we thought last time when it tasted like they had lost the top of the salt pot whilst pouring was a one off, but much to our disappointment nothing had changed, very, very salty and inedible again, always went there for years until it changed hands and we have been very infrequent customers since then, won’t be going again and won’t be recommending anyone else to go their either

Rude guy working in the Chinese, arrogant and needs some serious training in customer care. Since dealing with this fool I have now after 25 years of loyal customtaken my business to Kungs. This Chinese used to be great when run by Kenny, but since he has stepped back it has slowly dropped from the best Chinese in St Austell to average at best. Other than the rudeness, portion sizes have shrunk and food quality deteriorated. Kennys son is a nice guy but he needs to care more about what’s going on and the staff he employs.

Unfortunately I feel the quality has gone downhill a little of late.

Popped in to try some food from here and it was the worst. The noodles were so incredibly greasy, overcooked and congealed. The worst I’ve ever had. I cannot understand why any establishment would let food like that leave the kitchen.

My partner and I ordered from Chinese kitchen as we have done many times. They where recommended to us by family and friends. Sadly this evening we where accused of falsely claiming that items from our order where missing. Having spoken to someone regarding the issues we’ve faced. We where called liars and told in effect accused of deceiving them regarding missing items. The items missing where chicken balls and chips. Why would we lie about them being missing we used this takeaway frequently to be told our custom is no longer needed for requesting all of our order be replaced as it would have gone cold waiting for replacements to be sent. After they collected the order and delivered a replacement we received a message stating our custom is no longer welcome. Claiming we had in effect lied about items being missing. I suggest you review your practices and perhaps undergo a customer service course and review how yourselves and staff treat the general public. I will ensure all our friends and family are aware of the way you’ve treated us. I’m glad you as a business are doing well enough to lose more than our custom. Very sad we’ve never had an issue with the quality of the food. The service however is another matter.

I looked online see what would like to eat. Wasn't until we went to fetch and was serving it up, thinking we had wrong order....so rang them. To find restaurant/takeaway, under new management...and the online menu, is now invalid. Food was okay,bit salty to our taste... Completely different items of food, to what we thought we were getting. So be warned folks, set meals online, is not what their doing in kitchen

Our normal place East meets West was shut on Bank holiday Monday and despite the fact that The Chinese Kitchen cocked up our order the last time we used it we bit the bullet and phone ordered mixed meat curry, special fried rice and a pancake. We then crossed our fingers and said a silent prayer. Food to be ready at 17:15 I was reliably informed so I trundled off and arrived at eleven minutes past and paid the due amount. At the time 3 others were waiting for orders so I waited by the door. Several new customers arrived and placed orders and it got busy. Every now and then a chap would come out with a carrier bag, shout it’s contents and someone would gleefully take it. It soon became apparent that these new orders were getting attended to before me. I asked what was happening and was told initially that someone else must have taken the food (it was never shouted) and finally I got “well I know it’s been cooked 15 minutes ago so I’ll go and find it. NO YOU BLOODY WONT Money back and off to the chippy. That’s second and last chance. Steer clear of this place until it sorts itself out. Me .? I’m back to East meets West from here on in.

This was a local of ours many years ago and knew some of the family, so was always good. We went there last month and I can only describe the food as very poor, We had a very bland watery curry with chewy rice and a chow mein which I can't really give a description to, as it was that bad. I did note that when I went in there to collect the order the hygiene appeared to leave a lot to be desired so won't be back Very disappointed knowing how good it was years ago.

We returned here twice this year while camping nearby and on both occasions had excellent food. The service was quick and the orders accurate. Our food was absolutely delicious. The Vegetable Curry was excellent.

We do not normally have a Chinese takeaway but this one was delicious! My son is a very fussy eater because of his autism so we picked a safe option of chicken balls and chips and it was absolutely fantastic! The chips were hot as with the chicken being juicy and tender he was absolutely over the moon! The delivery driver was a very polite young man named Ben and he greeted us very well and was ever so friendly! We will definitely be eating here again, thank you very much x

Have ordered here many times but last order we got extra scourer pad bits to the Sweet n Sour Hong Kong Style. Although was a nice thought as a free gift but just doesn't sit well when nearly eating it!!

Have happily used this establishment for many years. However, I now find I am disappointed. Prices have unrealistically risen, add that to the containers of curry, rice and noodles getting smaller and a lower quality of food. Not happy.

I hate to be Negative. But I would crown this as one of the worst Chinese restaurants if had, that’s such a low statement but I honestly cant think of another way to describe this. And this is why. The sweet and sour soup was way too over spiced. Far to overpowering. Crispy chilli chicken was a soggy tasteless mess. Think chicken nuggets in a watery chilli gravy. Shredded chilli beef. *pictured* The beef tasted rancid. I hope it wasnt off. But a Similar source to the crispy chilli chicken stated above. Prawns and mushroom were bland. The classic watery frozen rubbish. The sauce just no flavour. Think a none stocky Vegetarian soup. The ribs were lovely we had barbecue And Cantonese again a tad overwhelmed with spice but very tasty and plenty of both. This was once a fantastic takeaway. Please holmbush. Dont take this as Negativity But the way of improving your menu

We tried this take away as our normal one seems to be closed due to Coronavirus. We asked around and a few people suggested this one so we thought we'd give it a go. The young man front of house was very friendly but the food was so bland. Loads of vegetables in every dish, though cut a bit too big for my liking, but it made all the dishes blend into one and due to lack of taste was hard to distinguish one from the other. Also noticed that the menu states free dish when spending over £40, which we did, but this wasn't offered to us.

Literally just finished our meal and I have to say it has got to have been the best Chinese we have had. The food was fresh and piping hot. I believe we live slightly further than their usual delivery routes however they accommodated us and we had our food in just over an hour which in the current crisis I feel is a great delivery time. Fingers crossed I can get delivery from here going forward as we will most definitely be ordering again 💞👌 thankyou!!!

I collected our takeaway tonight our two main dishes Chicken Chow Mein and Kind Prawn with mushrooms contained extremely undercooked inedible onions. This has never happened before but today we were 5th to be served after opening.Another time we will go later although I feel this is not an excuse.

As far as I remember 'Chinese' food should be simple flavours to compliment or contrast with each other. The Sweet and sour chicken had every vegetable imaginable in a sauce which seemed to have every spice conceivable mixed in together. Reading most information on chines cookery there should be chicken, peppers and onion.This seems to reflect the trend from many established oriental operations to Anglicise the menu. We probably don't get near real Chinese cooking but we would like to think we at least try.

Service was good, cash only in 2019 is a bit of a suprise, the food was cooked ok, but WAY to much salt on everything. The sweet and sour chicken balls were inedible due to the amount of salt on them. Had a portion of chips, wasn't asked if we wanted salt, normally don't since my kids are eating them and they where heavily salted. I like a bit of salt to release flavour but this was making my mouth burn. Don't know if this was a kitchen error or how they cook, but this was disappointing.

Ordered a collection.Arrived home to find that £50.00 worth of food was 'warm' and not edible. Telephoned the restaurant to complain especially with congealed sauce; told by a member of staff that I was making it up!Avoid this horrible so called place at all costs!

Found this place while holidaying. Had heard mixed reviews, but dont listen to them. Absolutely wonderful food. So good we visited twice. Well done guys keep up the good work. Will definitely be back!!

Just had another great meal for five from Chinese kitchen... excellent value for money,amazingly we get 10 meals from it...sat and sun tea sorted! It's excellent quality and flavour and even after a 30 minute drive home, it's still hot. Thank you

We ordered are meal from here as the Chinese we usually go to had put there prices up so we weren’t happy to spend that much on take away food so thought we would give this Chinese a try worst idea we’ve had! Our food was horrible the rice was so oily made us feel sick after a few mouthfuls then the chicken balls were soggy and tasted of washing up liquid for some reason so we didn’t eat them. The bbq sauce had no flavour at all! It was pink in colour which I’m sure bbq sauce isn’t supposed to be that colour, it was thick and jelly like so disgusting I almost vomited from the taste!Just very disappointed with how horrible it all looked and tasted we all had very upset tummy’s for days after! I’ve had some bad Chinese’s in my lifetime but this by far was the worst.

Very good food. Really enjoyed a Friday night treat. Everywhere else I've tryed in st austell was poor but here the flood was cooked perfect. And large amounts. Very happy that they finally do delivery. Quick service. Cant please everyone but I am pleased. Best wishes.

Been having food from here for 22 years. Always been excellent until now. Something has changed.Still plenty of it and good value for money but the chillies died a long time ago. Good luck for the future.plenty of chillies but not a bit of heat.

Great service, the food itself was ok but largely tasteless except for the satay chicken. Small selection of starters too. Had much better.

The last meal I had was awful, the curry was not spice enough and it was tepid in heat the rice was o.k but could have been hotter. I’m really disappointed

They were very good but they are under new owners and they tent to put to much salt on everything now same because they were wonderful before......

We were regulars but we will not go back anymore. Since being under new people the food is tasteless, not cooked properly, sometimes the peas are still frozen, chips are now horrible, fried rice wasn’t fried and chow mien indistinguishable.

We picked it up on out drive back to net Stephen where we were staying out in the sticks otherwise I would have taken it back.The crispy beef was soggy, chewy abd definitely re-heated. I can only compare it to dog food.And my beef in black in sauce, was roast beef in black water. We ended up eating pic n mix and chocolate oranges for dinner.

Kenny’s food is the best of all the St Austell Chineses, good sized portions, amazing flavour and good value. There seems to be a new lease of life as of late, this busy take away seems to be busier yet faster - there were two girls on the counter tonight and about 6 working in the kitchen. There’s also a new till! Food hygiene is rated a 4 so not bad. The waiting room needs to be improved as it’s run down and online ordering would be an improvement, however with recent changes I reckon online and deliveries will come soon. The beef and ribs are amazing, however being picky I think they need to get better quality chicken, however I’ve rated it 5* as there’s not a Chinese take away that can get close to this for taste in St Austell

First visit to Chinese Kitchen in Holmbush tonight and it won’t be the last.

Chips over cooked, sweet and sour chicken balls soggy, egg fried rice greasy, egg foo yung ok but not the best.

We were visiting Charlestown on holiday and decided to have a Chinese on a Thursday evening. This was the nearest one and we are so glad we visited. Great food, great value and not a lengthy wait.

After a long days walking we decide to have a take out from here, the place doesn’t look great but the counter staff are very polite and helpful. We didn’t have to wait long for our food, the wife had sweet & sour chicken Hong Kong style and I had Singapore chow mien, both absolutely delicious, large portion too. Will definitely use again the next time we are passing by

The food was hot and tasty and the staff were warm and welcoming. There was lots of choices for vegetarians. I would highly recommend the evening buffet because the food was served promptly and the portions were just right... giving you choice to order more without wasting any food. Thank you to the staff team.

We visited this Chinese takeaway for the first time whilst holidaying in the area. After a very long drive to get here all we really wanted was some good easy food. We weren’t disappointed! The food here was so tasty!! So much so that we decided we would have to have another one before the end of the holiday! The flavour of both their their curry and black bean sauce is some of the best we’ve tasted! After only a couple of meals from here we prefer this to our local Chinese now and would happily come here again if in the area.

I love this place! Food is lovely. After a recent trip to London we had a craving for this that just would not die! After the five hour drive home, a steaming bowl of chicken balls chips curry sauce and prawn crackers was awesome. Portions are huge too. It’s only been a few days and I’m craving it again already!

Never got to try the food. This place does not take cards and suggested I go to Tesco to draw cash out the ATM ( a notorious way to have your card cloned!). The assistant seemed disgruntled when I said no and I would go to another one nearby.

First time ordering and ordered the crispy chilli chicken. Chicken was bland and chewy. Good portion size and the egg fried rice was very good. Just a bit more texture and flavour needed.

The exterior may not look appealing, the service can be a bit lacklustre but the food is always reliably good. Very decent selection with all the usual dishes served fairly promptly. Always visit when in the area.

La comida era aceitosa y sosa, donde la comida era supuestamente fritos como pollo y piña, el pollo había sido hervidas y una salsa de piña fue agregado en la parte superior. I had just finished unloading a removals van and was tired and hungry. It was 10pm on a Wednesday night. The Chinese Kitchen was chosen purely because it was open and close by. I'm glad it was. The service was pleasant and quick and the food was steaming hot and fresh. It was a delicious meal and I thoroughly recommend them.

Kitchen Special with noodles is definitely recommended. Plenty of hot food for a reasonable price. Chips, pancake rolls, prawn crackers also recommended. Ordered food by phone and it is always ready.

This place is terrible I used too eat here every Friday for 8 years it was brilliant when Nicki worked there if anything was wrong she would get it sorted and cooked fresh I decided too try this place in dec ....omg what a shock it's dirty and smelly what has happened to such a good Chinese the rice was unpalatable with a hint of burnt and the mix meat curry was shocking cheapest cuts of meat used I think it's such a let down compared too how well it used too be

Been having chilli beef from here for 10 years. Delicious every time especially if you ask for it to be crispy. Not like other chinese chilly beef, this is actual slices of beef and absolutely delicious.NOt had much else because the chilli beef is so delicious.

Long wait, but it was busy. £20 for meal for 2. Large portions but not nice. Thick soggy batter , prawns did not taste fresh, only ate half of mine as did not enjoy. The worst part was I spent all night being sick every half hour about 12 times. Cannot prove it was food but will not go back. Only have 3 on hygiene cert.

Had chinese there tonight and very disappointed. Had there once before and was not impressed with the cleanliness of the waiting room, very greasy and dirty all around the sockets, skirting and windows etc, there was no * rating on show and would have thought it would be very low (checked on line and it is 3). We had hot and sour soup - rubbish, chilli chicken - no taste and very dry, egg fried rice - worse rice I have ever tasted and dry, chips - these were the best of the meal and onion rings - OK but nothing to write home about :( also after taking my order was told that it was £26.70, I queried this as I knew it was no where near that price and was then told it was £12.60!!!!! Bet if this was an older person they may not have noticed. Won't be going there again.

The food is a very low standard, nothing has any flavour we tried a few items as it was a big order majority of the food was wasted, the best item was the chips as they must of finally found the salt at the end. First time using this Chinese and most defiantly the last! Didn't even taste like Chinese.. Worst Chinese I have ever had!

Since moving to this side of town I have used this chinese as my local takeout, as everytime I order here I know that I am getting good food. We try and mix it up each time we eat here and we are never disappointed. The staff are friendly, you can watch them cook the food and the prices are brilliant.
