Dudley’s cafe in Dartmouth is fabulous there’s loads of choice on the menu 3 of us had lunch and found it to be great quality food we can definitely recommend the jacket potatoes and cheeseburgers . For a sit down meal we found it to be reasonably priced. Free WiFi was excellent. We look forward to visiting for a meal next time we are down in Dartmouth

Our food wasn’t anything special, the place lacked atmosphere and wasn’t particularly reasonable. We wouldn’t bother again.

We were in Dartmouth for a couple of days and in search of one veggie and one vegan breakfast at reasonable prices - seems a tall order for most places who want to ply you with something fancy for a high cost. Not at Dudley's. A full English breakfast for both of us, vegetarian for my partner and vegan for me. Freshly cooked, delicious and service with a smile. We will definitely return if we find ourselves in Dartmouth again.

We dropped into this cafe as part of a flying visit to Dartmouth taking the foot ferry from Kingswear as part of the round robin. It is a small cafe and therefore you may not be lucky enough to get a table. On arrival we were met with a warm smile by the gentleman. Orders were placed and served very promptly. The English breakfast was big enough to fill me up and to accompany a pale ale of which they have a good local selection. If you are looking for cafe type food and wanting prompt quick service I would recommend.

The cafe looks very understated from the outside and is overshadowed by a livelier cafe virtually next door. However we chose to give it a try, and we were glad we did. Had a super breakfast so we came back everyday (except Wednesday when it was closed). Friendly gentleman who took our order. Food and drinks promptly served and they were delicious (please see pictures). My favourite was Eggs Royale (although Eggs Benedict was also good). Outstanding Hollandaise sauce and eggs nice and runny. Beautiful Cappuccino coffee in a large cup. Prices are better than next door too! Mastercard cards accepted. This is a hidden gem. You will be glad you ate here.

Cauliflower soup - thick and not much in the bowl. Small bread loaf plus pat of butter. STILL HUNGRY!! Had to ask for water, begrudgingly provided. Avoid.

We visited this establishment September 2022 and returned this year as we had enjoyed our meals there. We didn’t realise that it had changed hands and our experience this time was very disappointing. The staff were pleasant, but the food was a big let down, not the same quality as we’ve had elsewhere on our holiday. Two of our party had the ploughman’s; it was OK, but three of us had the quiche and that really was not a good plate of food, both to look at and to eat. The thinnest quiche I’ve ever seen, chips you’d expect from a supermarket freezer and a very bland portion of undressed salad. We’ve had better quality meals for the same price or less in other places.

Previous venue was a little downmarket from the Al Fresco offering but did some decent stuff. However this is now deep freeze to deep fat and not really a Dartmouth type thing. More Blackpool

Quite the worst crab sandwich ever. Very flaky meat, drowned in mustard and herbs, totally killing the taste of the crab. Absolutely zero value for £9.50.

3 battered jumbo sausages, 1 large chips Got it home, to discover the batter was soggy, greasy No crunch to the batter, sausage was anemic, needed cooking bit more, tasted disgusting. Large chips were a joke, most were raw. If I was nearer, would have taken them . Will give this place a miss

A truly gorgeous little spot for a couple of days exploring Totnes and the surrounding countryside. The staff were very welcoming and friendly from the moment I arrived and throughout my time there; I never felt overlooked or focussed on as a solo female traveller but always very well-cared for. I stayed in room 1 which has a tiny little terrace that it was nice to be able to open the door onto and have some fresh air inside. The room itself was lovely, very well presented and felt clean and cosy; there isn't a huge amount of space but absolutely enough for one person or two people for a night or two. Lovely lime washed walls, DIY compostable teabags and a great shower made for a very comfortable stay - worth noting they don't have all the same amenities you might find elsewhere (no TV or shower gel) but wi-fi is good if you want to bring a laptop to watch. Food was excellent with a great range of local and seasonal small - large plates and everything was beautifully prepared and perfectly cooked - the cauliflower and squash for dinner were especially good while the fried egg + greens on toast was a perfect breakfast to fuel a day of walking. I can also recommend the no-waste espresso martini as a sundowner with a good book in the fresh air! It's not cheap but the whole vibe is one of getting what you pay for which is understated elegance, a commitment to sustainability and a real desire to create something very special in the local community...I wouldn't hesitate to go back or to send others there.
