Gorgeous outdoor dining which is what attracted us on a hot July day after Loch Ness shops nearby. Tiny menu and pretty expensive, cashing in on the tourist trade I assume. Ordered a cheeseburger for £15 and to say it was basic is an understatement. The chips were like nothing I’ve ever seen, looked like someone had hacked away at a potato. We also had a tuna melt panini, could have played a long game of “spot the filling”, disgraceful for a £10 panini. First time I’ve paid £6 for a 330ml tin of IPA. Service was sloppy, the young lad looked like he wanted to be anywhere else and could barely be bothered to speak. The only redeeming feature was shortbread which was delicious but at £4 for a small slice - so it should be! I can only assume they are not relying on repeat custom and cashing in on tourists who will pay the prices, just for the location.

If you want to step back to the 70's , this is the hotel for you . Wallpaper hanging from wall in Bathroom ! , dont know what was on the mirror in room ( I hope it was toothpaste ) Olive green bathroom suite with pine bath panel. Felt really sorry for the forgein visitors that were staying there , if they thing this is what visitor hotels have to offer . With the price they are charging , breakfast extra ( cheap ingredients ) they should be able to update the rooms . Checked in , only to be told we could not eat that night as there was a party of 18 in ? Good job i phoned the pub / restaurant around corner as they got fully booked . The staff were friendly but overall , will not be returning ! The photos on website must be when it was new .

We visited in late August of 2022. We were part of a Seniors Discovery Tour with a total of 23 people. We stayed three nights and my husband and I were accommodated in the building over top the Loch Ness Gift Shop. Our room was small with two single beds. The window would not open with, no place to put luggage except on the floor. Our breakfast was exactly the same for three mornings. We had to walk outside to get to dinning room down a flight of stairs and down hill across a driveway... Staff was accommodating and the dinners were acceptable. Rooms need updating and windows should be able to be opened especially in warmer weather - which we had.

Whilst out and about yesterday my family decided to go into the eye catching restaurant. When we entered we were greeted by the reception staff and then taken through to the seating area. We ordered 4 pizzas between us and got them within 5 minutes! what wonderful service. The chef explained how the pizzas were made which was amazing to hear the process! The staff were so welcoming, After our meal we were given a brief tour of the establishment. It was amazing and inspired my family to stay in the foreseeable future. Will definitely be back! Thank you to all of the team!

Warm Hotel and welcoming staff! I will definitely be back!! Well done Donald ~ you have an amazing team 👍👍

Please dont take notice of any previous negative reviews as this has to be one of the most friendliest and warmest of welcomes received in a locally family run cafe. We all ordered x4 pizzas which were very quick in arriving to table also great credit to Donald as he completely described the whole pizza making process which would explain that the timings have to be just right before his team would serve to customer to ensure perfection so dont understand previous review saying it was under cooked - Well done guys as best pizza ever tasted..... We were so impressed with the service etc we enquired about the hotel rooms linked to building and after given a brief tour of hotel rooms we now booking room for Valentines weekend so tbh what more can you ask for - pizza, wine and well presented hotel rooms all on one site. We were staying on a boat and therefore walked up to the lovely village of Drumnadrochit, calling at the Loch Ness visitor centre on the way up (the historical experience is well worth visiting by the way). By the time we had finished the tour, it was 1:55pm so we headed to the Cobbs cafe which is part of the old hotel (now the visitor centre). We asked for a Pannini for our son and were told that the kitchen was closed at 2pm and no Pannini's were available (it literally was 2pm and we had been in the queue for several minutes). Not thinking it was a problem, we ordered a toasted sandwich (one of the packet ones like you get at Costa) for me and a sausage roll for our son. When the food came, the sausage roll was not even cooked. The pastry was raw and the sausagemeat was awful (I would not have given it to our dogs). To compound the problem, one of the waitresses came out of the kitchen (clearly on her lunch break) at 2:15pm, with a PANNINI and continued to eat this in front of us, despite telling us 15 minutes earlier that the kitchen was closed. We left and walked into the village and found a lovely cafe in the courtyard where we were able to get some proper food and really good service. Avoid Cobbs at all cost and head the extra 2 minutes into the village where there are far better places to eat (and with great service and a much more pleasant experience).

We were looking for somewhere to eat and like others thought you couldn't go too far wrong in Drumnadrochit. However we were cautious and decided to have a cup of tea first. When staff eventually came to the counter we ordered. Well cups we didn't get - two of the cardboard mugs. Okay but people after us got proper cups - maybe we looked like we couldn't handle china! Anyway we took a couple of sips and it was disgusting. We left and were pleased we didn't waste real money. Looks like management don't comment on reviews - probably says a lot.

Having just driven over 4 hours from the east coast of Scotland my partner and I were getting quite peckish. We had originally planned to stop elsewhere, but with it being closed we thought we'd continue to send what else we found. We parked up as we came into drumnadrochit and decided to search on food for somewhere to eat. Not looking for too much fuss, we assumed a cafe on an area swarming with tourist groups would be a safe bet. Ordering food was straightforward enough, although the waitress didn't advise on what came with the panini (more on that later) and proceeded to ask if I wanted chips or peas with my fish (much more on that later), I put it down to a simple mistake and cleared up that it should come with both. We had been waiting around 15 minutes with no sign of food. Not a big issue as we usually prefer a slightly longer wait to know our food is cooked fresh. It also gave us time to observe the waitresses half cleaning the tables next to us. A table of 4+ sitting behind us received their food around this point. I thought they were behind me in the queue, but couldn't be sure. About 5 minutes later a table of two that I know were served after me received their food. I was starting to get suspicious. A couple of minutes passed and a member of staff came over to ask if we were still waiting on our food(panini and fish and chips, 25 minutes wait) we said we were and he disappeared without a word. Another 5 minutes passed, I was just away to get up and cancel my order when two plates came towards us. Placed down with little mention of a sorry for your wait and the server disappeared like a magician. The first thing I noticed was the lack of peas on my plate, instead replaced by a selection of "seasonal veg"(soup of the days ingredients we suspected). Second was the teaspoon sized puddle of coleslaw on my partner. We called the server over to explain some things. First, where were my peas, and what is this other veg? I was told that they had ran out of peas. When questioned as to why they had not informed me as to what I would like instead I was told again that they had ran out. Seems he was unable to grasp the point I was trying to make, I'm not sure whether they ran out before taking my order of while they were giving food to the people behind us in the queue but they had over half an hour to let us know. I know it is different veg so it's unlikely, but i could have had an allergy to what they had given me. If they'd ran out of fish would I have been served chicken? He said he would let his manager know and we asked them to be sent to speak to us. The manager comes over to ask if there is something wrong with our food and we explain our situation. Hoping the manager will be able to shed some light on why the different food had been plated and again was told they had ran out, incompetent from top to bottom. When asked about our wait as well I was told there was a mix up with the cheques (so they forgot). Several apologies came our way but she had no real explanation as to why they wouldn't mention this to us when the server came to ask if we were still waiting on food. She offered us a cake or coffee to make up for the appalling service. We took a cake(tray bake) to go, it was not anything worth mentioning. The actual food we did have, once we got round to eating was not really worth the cost, and certainly not worth the wait.

Didn’t visit the centre but went to Cobb’s cafe and bistro. Good range of lunch fare including sandwiches, soup and paninis, available until 2pm. We arrived at 2:03pm and asked if we were too late to order paninis. A member of staff said they would check. They returned from the kitchen to say that they were sorry but the kitchen staff had just turned everything off. We accepted that and bought some (warm) soup instead. However four more tables were served paninis after we had sat down, meaning the “panini-making machine” had not been switched off and to add insult to injury, the very same member of staff who had lied to our face sat down at the table next to us at 2:30 with a freshly cooked panini to eat. We would have accepted the line “no more orders for hot food food after 2pm” without question as that is what was advertised but we take exception to dishonesty and, as such will not be making a return visit.

Dropped in for coffee and cake - the piles of uncleared tables should have been a give away. Noticed a really unpleasant acrid smell which turned out to be congealing vinegar under the bottle on the table. The next table was no better. As I watched the tables eventually being cleared I could see why. The trays and plates were picked up but the tables not wiped down. Wiping the tables would seem to be a once a day task and does not involve shifting the condiment bottles.

As guests of the Drumnadrochit Hotel, it was recommended that we visit the restaurant upstairs for our dinner, this is also where breakfast is served. Hotel restaurants aren't always my favorite, I prefer a local spot with freshly made foods to order. Well, all of my fears were quickly put at ease. Ricky was our waiter, and he was wonderful! His recommendations were spot on and he attended to everyone in our party of 9. He went the extra mile with our kids too. Our main courses were not only beautifully presented, but everyone was satisfied and the desserts were wonderful. Breakfast didn't disappoint either, except that Ricky wasn't there. The dining room was packed, so a couple of us did have to wait a few minutes for the hot foods to be replenished. I do not mind waiting for hot food though, especially when it's quality. There was fruit, yogurt and toast available if one was wasting away. We'll look to include this stop again on our next visit!

A last minute choice to eat in the Bistro in the Drumnadrochit Hotel. The Bar Manager was very helpful and attentive on our arrival. One of our starters was moules marinière, but there was a notable absence of any garlic, parsley or cream in the sauce. Main courses were supposed to be chicken breast stuffed with haggis etc but there was obviously a shortage of haggis on our visit as none could be found in the chicken ! Other main was a 'medium-well' rib eye steak which came out 'very, very well' done, whilst the chunky chips were undercooked and inedible. Interesting that the waiting staff only asked diners if everything was okay when empty plates were on the table. After complaining and being told that the same issues had been raised last week ! We were offered a complimentary bottle of house wine and told the issues regarding the food would be raised in the kitchen.

Our meals were okay - Caesar salad which was one of the better ones we have had in Scotland. A steak was cooked to order - medium rare - with chips that were fairly tasteless - guess they were frozen ones reheated. The food was reasonably priced however I am sure there are better places around to eat if good food is all you are looking for. Ate here today the food was really nice and the staff great, it was sort of home cooked food which was lovely. The staff were happy and smiling but the only down side was the slightly dirty floor and tables. I would eat here again.

A group of four of us ate in the restaurant while we were staying overnight in the hotel. On the basis of the food I would have rated higher but after having used the vinegar and eaten some of the chips my friend noticed small black items in the bottle which on examination appeared to be small flies. The waiter was advised and his response 'It's ok we won't charge you extra for them.' They also didn't charge us any less for them. I didn't take any vinegar on my meal but if the staff don't see flies in the vinegar what else are they missing.

The staff behind the bar and in the restaurant were lovely throughout our stay. Shame they couldn't work their magic on the food. The starter sharing platter was all deep fried in grease and had lost most of its taste. The fish was dry for main course, and the meat in the steak pie was a little too strong for fresh meat. Veg was clearly microwaved. It might be priced cheaply, but it shows.

My daughter and I received the best service from a young male waiter and the Restaurant Manager, the food was excellent and plentiful and the local stout went down like a dream. We visited in July 2012 not 2014

The restaurant was grossly understaffed when we reached, but we were served by a very friendly and cheerful waitress who seemed to be the only one holding down the fort (she also did check ins for the hotel). We ordered a beef burger and chicken curry. The curry was decent but the burger was terrible. Patty was so overcooked, burger was so dry!! The coleslaw was not fresh. On the plus side though, the chips were good.

Loved the Venison. I have been here before, 2 years back. And the quality of food & service remains amazing. Not a very expensive restaurant. Great for a Scottich vacation.

Ate here with my family while cruising up Loch Ness. Restaurant busy but greeted by very friendly Australian waitress who sat us in the bar and got us a table quickly. Food was delicious and not over priced. Service good and great atmosphere, nice, clean, modern décor. Would recommend.

De bediening was super als zowel ook het eten en een leuke wijnkaart, de entourage vonden we wat minder maar niet storend.

Right next to the Loch Ness Centre and Exhibition and you can also book a cruise on Loch Ness here so it was very useful to be in there whilst waiting for your cruise. Good food at a good price but it is more like a cafe than a restaurant.

Visited mid May 2014. Food was beautiful and the hot chocolate was loverly too. They serve home baked scones and also home made soup of the day all of which very loverly. The service was very friendly to. This is right next to the Loch Ness exhibition which was worth a visit although maybe slightly dated but still more up to date than some places ive visited. How ever the Bistro/Cafe/restaurant was very modern clean and tidy. Only a short drive to Fort Augustus too how ever i found the cafes is Fort Augustus to be more pricey and not worth the money.

Terrible food, terrible service, had to ask repeatedly for water glasses, wine we'd ordered, no one asked how the food was, tables being rearranged around us, deserts served stacked leaving food on the bottom of plates and Will Young on repeat for 2 hrs.

O restaurante serve uma comida refinada, de boa qualidade.Oferecem pratos para todos os gostos. Apenas o lugar, pela qualidade da comida, creio que poderia ser um pouco mais aconchegante, mais decorado e romântico.

The hotel and restaurant is now under new management. The food was delicious and you did not have to wait ages! Steak night on Saturdays - 2 steak dinners and a bottle of wine for £20 is great value. All meat comes from butchers in Beauly 10 miles away. I will definitely go again and would highly recommend.

They were expecting a large party to come in but as we didn't want a full 3 course meal they managed to fit us in before. It was really scrumptious food, well presented and well cooked. 5 star standard in my eyes.

Out of all the places we ate in Drumnadrochit this was my least favourite. I'm not saying it was bad, it just wasn't anything special. There was nobody else in the restaurant when we arrived (6pm ish) so I thought that perhaps they weren't open until later. We hovered for a while, then just as we were about to leave, a girl came up to us.Service was ok, the staff weren't rude just a bit disinterested (with the exception of a man - perhaps the manager - who seemed to speak good french and was very charming). The meal was average though the sticky toffee pudding after was delicious. Overall it just average hotel food, just nothing memorable and let down by the staff and atmosphere. I wouldn't avoid the place, but I wouldn't rush back either.

A few us stopped for a bite to eat here after some had gone round the centre.I was very disappointed and embarrassed being from the highlands at the poor service and food.Disinterested staff mentioned by another's review kind of sums it up.Bit of a captive customer base but that should not need poor service and it was pretty dirty as well.Plenty of room for improvement

On12 August 2013, sixteen of my family reunion group members descended on this restaurant. The staff was very pleasant, efficient and helpful. Fish and chips as well as soups were what was ordered by most. No complaints! We sat upstairs which was very enjoyable.

Went to the cafe for a toasted sandwich. Doesnt get much simpler, I thought. Sandwich was cold, cheese not melted. Came with potato crisps that were stale and a salad that was limp and dried out without any dressing. The coffee was decent and hence the 2 star rating. Poorest excuse for a meal in a month of travelling around Scotland.

We stayed at hotel on a bed and breakfast basis. The cooked breakfasts were dreadful. The bacon was cold and looked as if it had been microwaved as the colour was insipid and unappetising. The sausage was also cold and anaemic looking! On the following days we kept to the safe option of beans on toast. Extra toast took forever to cook on the help yourself toasters! However the staff were kind and helpful especially a young man called Paul who was attentive and cheerful every morning hence the 5 stars for service.

After walking from Invermoriston we were looking for somewhere comfortable and casual for a drink and bite to eat. We entered the bistro to find it didn't start to serve food for another half hour but our drinks order was taken and we were shown upstairs to wait and our drinks brought up to us and added to the bill. The upstairs area was empty and we chose a nice window seat which offered a great view. Drinks were delivered by friendly staff who let us know when our table was ready. The menu was varied and reasonably priced considering it seemed to be the main hotel in town. The restaurant area was nice and modern although it was a bit cold. Food arrived after a bit of a wait but was lovely, well cooked and well presented. Staff were attentive even though it got busy very quickly. For a quick bite in nice surroundings it was ideal for us. If we were passing through again i think we would be happy to stop in here again.

We decided to eat here on our second evening in Drumnadrochit despite hearing mixed reveiws about the place. After we eventually found our way into the restaurant (there is no indication of where to enter) the staff appeared friendly and helpful enough, unfortunately the place was very quiet and lacking in atmosphere-the food was ok though.

We only went here for coffee and cake after visiting the Loch Ness Exhibition, which is right next door. The capuccino was OK, as was the cake. The weather was good, warm and sunny, so we went outside. There's not much room there, just a small slab of concrete with at least one table too many. Tables and chairs are old and weathered, and not in a pretty way.The bathroom facilities inside (upstairs) were much the same. Just clean enough, but old and worn down. This place needs a make-over.

Booked a meal deal a month ago. Day before arrival got e mail asking if we wanted to upgrade to a meal deal. Arrived to a big electronic display showing restaurant and meal deal. Told at reception no evening meals available we could have a refund. Very poor. Nearest alternative Morrisons cafe (which had practically nothing on the menue or McDonalds. Ruined our stay .

Roads End Cafe is a lifesaver at this time of the year, we were on the NC500 and fancied a bite to eat when we got to John o Groats. It is such a basic cafe but still serves hot toasties/sandwiches, soup and small cakes/scones. The lady that served us was lovely, so welcoming and willing to go the extra mile, she even recommended the haggis and cheese toastie which I couldn't turn down. Since it was so quiet, it was takeaway only but she let us sit in due to the gale force winds outside. I have to say the toasties are the best I have had in a while and not even that expensive despite the location, absolutely fantastic. It is a little gem if you're looking for something eat when you reach the most northernly point in Scotland!
