Dram & Haggis in Mendip

Had a day out in St Andrew's on Saturday 11th May as it was a lovely day,so we pop in kinnettles Hotel for a few drinks. As there's outdoor sitting on the pavement so we get a table outside. As it was very hot day my friend took off his T-shirt,staff take our order with no issued at all didn't even mentioned or bothered about his not wearing a T-shirt. After our forth rounds of drinks, this man passed our table bend over to my friend in a impolite bad mannered way and tell him in my Hotel you can't dress like that and he walk away.We where shocking even other guests having a drinks think he was rude. I pointed out to the staff and she tell me not to worry about it, we didn't have a problem plus you guys where sitting outside. The Owner should know better how to talk to Guests he was so unprofessional, and we will not be going back.

Starters were decent but mains were badly cooked, service erratic. Careful with tips, service charge built-in on the bill. Won't hurry back.

We had a truly lovely lunch. The staff were genuinely friendly. Nothing was too much trouble and we felt welcome even with a toddler. The amazing menu suits all tastes. The food was freshly made and perfect. I can’t recommend The Dram & Haggis enough. A definite to visit again.

Lovely food using our Itison vouchers. Our waitress was charming and so friendly. The steaks were amazing! I loved the Belly Pork and crispy kale. I usually hate kale but it was delicious as were the chips. Yummy. Tried it on the itison main meal deal and we would definitely come back. Wine decently priced and good quality. Glad we came. There is a 10% service charge so no need to tip. Lovely place. Spotless loos too. There is a bar for just a drink...and a bar menu.

I and my sister finished a steak sandwiches and smoked salmon salad, with two coffees. To me the steak sandwiches is close to perfect, if the steak is cooked hotter I would consider that as perfect. The steak is juicy. Fries are cooked good. People serving us are nice, polite and care for customers' needs. The environment of the restaurant is good and spacious between tables. Not cheap one.

We visit this restaurant every time we go to St. Andrews the food is amazing lovely staff and very reasonably priced the location is great too hope to visit again soon

We were visiting St Andrews for the first time and found the Kinnettles Hotel and went to the bar Dram and Haggis. The bar was nice and clean, the staff were welcoming and friendly. There was sufficient choice of drink, the place was not to crowded and was a nice place to sit down and talk, the chairs were very comfy. We weren't very hungry but we decided to order nachos and they were nice and tasty to share. We went back a second time and again a nice experience, I would recommend going there if you want a nice quiet drink with a nice astomphere. I would definitely go back.

Sadly we were underwhelmed by both the menu choices and the service level here. The food was acceptable but nothing to rave about. The promotional material leads you to believe that this is something special … but it was Chicken breast and burger level. The service was okay but the waiter and waitress appeared as if they’d much prefer not to be working on a Sunday! They did enough to get by but didn’t engage with the customers at all. They were going through the motions. All in all - not somewhere we’d return to. I don’t expect a response from the owner, as I see that they don’t comment when they get a negative review! I seldom have time to give reviews but I think it’s important that this venue takes heed and tries to improve.

We recently went here for dinner. It turned out a wee bit disappointing. The restaurant is off the reception area at the hotel. We were invited to chose our table which seemed a bit unprofessional when we had booked and weren’t just a walk in. The restaurant is a bit drab with brown walls and no real decoration or style. It felt like an old coffee shop. The staff were very welcoming. I think however a bit of staff training was required especially in up selling. We were given our menus but not offered a drink. Nor were we given water as every other table had. We eventually asked for a drink. A pet hate of mine in restaurants was evident here, the print on the menus was difficult to read in places particularly the yellow or gold print giving the details of each dish. Added to the drab lighting it was particularly difficult to read and is such an easy thing to sort. The food was okay but not particularly inspiring. I expected a stronger Scottish theme given the name of the restaurant. Haggis Bon bons and venison seemed to be the extent of it. Chicken supreme seemed a bit dated dish but tasty enough. My starter of Thai fishcake was good, light and crispy crust. I ordered lemon meringue tart but, for some reason, got apple crumble tart instead but it was good. No further offer of drinks or coffee, so we just left. I don't blame the young waiting staff but the owners or managers need to up their game as they are missing out on a bigger customer spend. We'll not be rushing back.

Booked lunch with an Itison Voucher ,staff were friendly and helpful . Our starter was very tasty Short pork BBQ ribs and the main course was Hake on a bed of crushed potatoes with a side of Parmesan coated chips ,thoroughly enjoyable . The toilets were spotless .As was the dining tables . It looks like a good hotel to stay over a weekend and is 5 minutes from the shops

Just home from a lovely meal with my wife at the Dram and Haggis. Whilst the menu is fairly limited, the food we each chose was absolutely delicious and beautifully presented. The service was very professional, and the whole atmosphere in the restaurant was excellent. My wife can recommend the French Martini cocktail. We will definitely be back.

Having lived in St Andrews for 3 years I enjoyed sampling the food there. Dram and Haggis is by far the best restaurant in town. It’s ambiance is that of a chic restaurant with fine dining without the tragically small portions and pretentious menu. We enjoyed the chateaubriand that was cooked to perfection. Cocktails are delicious and the deserts (had the tea cake) just finished off a lovely evening. Top class service! Attentive without hovering. Sean and his team made sure we were looked after. Just excellent!

Fantastic experience from start to finish. We had an itison voucher, fantastic value. Food was absolutely delicious. Service great. We will return.

My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our lunch here. The food was excellent, from starters to dessert plus cocktails in the bar afterwards. The star of the show was the Chateaubriand (we pushed the boat out) which was so tender you could cut it with a spoon. Friendly, efficient staff without being overly fussy. We noticed another review suggesting the menu wasn't big enough, we disagree. We'd far rather have a small menu with food cooked to perfection rather than a large menu delivering average food. We will definitely be returning.

Had an itison deal for lunch Food was lovely My partner thoroughly enjoyed her ribs and chicken Neeps and tatties For me asparagus and kale and then roast hake The only part which really let down out experience was paying the bill between us we had 3 cards which were all declined on numerous occasions To the extent I had to leave to find a cash machine In a shop we used our cards successfully and my partner commented about the issue to be told by the owner of the shop that the wifi signal in st Andrews was very hit and miss We have been left with a bitter taste and won’t be returning due to this

Visited with our itison voucher and received a very warm welcome. The staff were very friendly and professional. Food was outstanding and the cocktails were scrumptious and potent! Will definitely return.

Enjoyable meal. Fish was cooked to perfection. Menu choice needs to expand if I was to bring my family.

Firstly the prices are not mentioned in the website and there was no prices on the dessert menu. (£9.50 for a pudding!) The food was okay but not much choice and not memorable. We will not return.

We received vouchers for birthday presents, starters were delicious. We both had the fillet steak main and finished with the restaurants own teacake for dessert. Steaks were cooked to perfection (med/rare), we both chose peppercorn sauce and rustic chips (OMG). We have had good steaks...

Fabulous restaurant. Fab from we were greeted on arrival. Lovely helpful staff. Fabulous cocktails and the food was amazing!! We will definitely be returning.

Had a voucher for the Dram and Haggis The food was average . I got the Chicken and Haggis however the haggis turned out to be a very small breaded haggis the size of a cherry tomato . Surely you can do better than this...

Top service! Pierre is the best barman in town! All the staff also are super friendly, diligent and excellent at their jobs!

New place in St Andrews, small but perfectly formed menu. Fantastic mix of dishes, every one of our group was really happy with the food and service. Definitely give it a try !

Delicious steak dinner and loved the large chips. Good selection of yummy cocktails. Decor nice and staff keen to ensure an enjoyable meal and evening. Hope to return sometime soon
