Dragon in Hastings

My mother and I went to Hastings for a holiday and we found this place. So awesome chilled food was delicious white bait and chips atmosphere was amazing great place to go to

We stumbled upon the Dragon while enjoying Hasting's Old Town, saw their lunch board and decided to pop in. Firstly, the decor is great and it has that cozy vibe that makes you want to stay all day. The music playing was just our cup of tea and not too loud and not too quiet. The bartender was friendly, attentive and helpful. But the star of the show was the food! I had the autumn borlotti bean stew with polenta chips and goats cheese and my partner had the wild boar sausages, creamy mash, kale and a red onion gravy to die for!! My stew was amazing and a large portion for a reasonable £10 lunch meal. What a lovely find on a wet and windy day in Hastings.

Omg amazing food honestly really is and brilliant atmosphere. I had moules vongole frim the lunch menu I dont usually eat muscle but wanted to try something different I was superb and and only £10.

Wondered down the old town high street and stumbled on this place. The food was amazing, plus great atmosphere and music. We sat inside and could see the chief in the kitchen working his magic. We had 5 tapas dishes and shared them, they were lovely. Unfortunately I didn’t get a picture but would highly recommend a visit when your passing next.

We had lunch here by chance on a short trip. We were blown away by the food. We weren't expecting too much as the lunch specials were only £9 but it was top notch. We had fish and chips and a burger, all cooked to perfection. The best burger I've had, even though I'm usually paying upwards of £15 for one in a pub these days. The staff were very friendly and they had a great soundtrack playing. Just a good, relaxing experience all round.

Fantastic midweek pizza and a pint £10. Great selection of toppings ,You can't go wrong ,Warm and cosy with great friendly bar staff 😀

We had a dozen fantastic oysters with a delicious dressing of fresh dill and pickled onion, some creative and delicious small plates and cocktails. Wonderful staff and food.

Great find on our way home from a weekend break. Nice pub, friendly staff and the roast beef was really good. The prices are very good too. Added bonus of being dog friendly.

We came from very far and just driving by, we stopped here for a quick meal. Yet the service we got, was very attentive and considerate, and by the way the food was pretty good, especially my thick, delicious burger, but also a soup and a chicken burger. Pricing definitely fair and appropriate. So... thanks a lot! PS. Dessertswise... in Italian you write "panna cotta" (literally something like "cooked cream"), not "panaccota"! ;)

Unfortunately we were very disappointed. The quality was good, but the portions were not adequate and did not reflect the price we paid. Cauliflower cheese is extra which I found a bit rich! It was a tiny portion anyway. We would not consider eating there again, unless the portion sizes increase.

Recently 'discovered' (yes, all on my own) Dragon Bar and cannot wait to return. The building is beautiful - exactly the type of 'rough luxe' style that gets my aesthetic juices flowing with antique lamps, bare brickwork, original floorboards and, when I visited at Christmas, thousands of twinkling lights wound about branches and boughs that provide a sort of 'lost in a fairy forest' vibe and make you want to stay for hours and hours. The atmosphere is so welcoming and comforting. We ordered a variety of dishes including the sea bass, vegan beetroot and butternut squash 'wellington' (the most delicious vegan... anything.... I've ever tasted), rosemary fries, pizzas and sampled a few Bloody Marys, too - perfectly spicy and a delight on a cold winter day. The staff are great - friendly and welcoming and clearly utterly into making sure Dragon Bar earns a reputation as a greta choice for lunch or dinner in Hastings. I've been back since and it was just a lovely as the first time. I'll definitely return.

I have been to the Dragon Bar lots of times but this time was extra fabulous - from the taste full decorations beautiful lights stunning food and friendly staff it was an evening myself and my 6 friends really enjoyed - really started our Christmas thank you

Right on the Main Street of Old Town, we loved this spot for drinks, light bites, main meals and people watching. Service was friendly, music good and prices were excellent. The food came out piping hot and delicious. Highly recommend and we will be back.

Having recently moved to the area we discovered the Dragon Bar on their Pizza & Pint night. Really great food and value for money. A few days later whilst out walking the dog, we got caught in torrential rain and stopped in here for lunch. They are dog friendly and we had the afternoon menu. Again great good and value for money. Absolutely will be back again and again.

Great little restaurant behind hasting seafront , our group had a variety of tapas and paella, all tasting fantastic. The drink selection was very good too. On the whole great experience,great food and happy with prices too.

Told to keep the noise down and asked to leave! Very rude pretentious staff! Full of teenagers. Very odd way to run a business. Good luck!

Booked in for a few days - felt at home straight away - enjoyed a peaceful nights sleep- a hearty full english ( included) and finished the day off with a tasty burger - roll on tomorrow - 👍

This is a small but adequate place, we decided to have lunch. The menu's are on blackboards and you are encouraged to take a photo to see what is on offer. They do individual small tapas dishes to larger main meals. Every dish is cooked fresh and it you request the paella you are advised that there is a wait of 25-30 mins. Whatever you decide it will blow your mind! I had the chicken caeser salad, it was absolutely lovely, lots of chicken, bacon, anchovies, sauce, lettuce and parmesan cheese. My partner had Seaford Tagliatelle. WOW he's looked amazing, mussels, clams, king prawns, squid all cooked to absolute perfection. He very very rarely leaves a tip but he left £10 for the chef it was that amazing. We would even travel from Kent to Hastings just to eat there again. If you go you will not be disappointed.

We had super tapas in the sun at the Dragon Bar. It was all very lovely and we had a nice chat with some of the locals too.

My partner and I enjoyed a selection of dishes from their blackboard menu for a late lunch. We ordered at the bar and food was delivered to the table in good time. All the dishes were well presented and staff were smiling and friendly. My only criticism is that the place could do with a deep clean - not that it’s filthy and the tables and chairs were clean. But even still, it’s a little dark in there and could do with a scrub here and there.

Been really looking forward to trying this place. Ordered a roast belly pork, fat hadn’t been rendered and potatoes under cooked. Pizza dough raw & the steak tasted old and soaked in oil. Chef came out and argued until we physically showed him how poor it was. Never going back!!

I went in for lunch with my husband and ordered 2 full meals with drinks. I had red wine but ordered a second drink, this time an Aperol cocktail which I was disappointed to see came in a small wine glass with little or no soda water. I mentioned that I am used to this drink being served in a large round glass with plenty of soda, perhaps a slice of lemon... When I paid my bill they had removed the cost of the cocktail, not that I had asked for it. When my husband returned to his seat I mentioned that I would have preferred the cocktail as I am used to, and immediately the owner said she heard that and said we had to leave immediately, She called the police and said she had asked me to leave 3 times (not at all true, only once a minute before),.... I could not believe her brazen behaviour, I was not drunk and had not done anything wrong. Then I noticed she had immediately taken my bag and put it outside on the doorstep. I live in that street but will definitely not be going back until the 'owner' has left for good. I have never in my life experienced this shocking reprisal for not appreciating which way a drink is made! While I am at it I might as well mention the potato salad was served cold when the menu states it is served warm, which is one of the reasons I chose that particular meal from the menu. I am a happy bunny now, a little shock, but nobody gets me!

Excellent food. Lunch for only £8 and generous portions too! Superb service. My new favourite place to eat in Hastings!

A place for the younger urban crowd with deep pockets, Dragon Inn is a typical modern style pub in Hastings Old Town. Real ale drinkers will find little to enjoy here, but the area is nice, the seating (inside and outside) is pleasant and relaxing...

Disappointed with portion - would rather pay more then have two tiny half potatoes- 2 slither of carrot. Broccoli and kale never turned up and although we passed on cauliflower cheese we weren’t given an extra thin slither of carrot! Nut roast was over whelmed...

Came across this wonderful tapas bar during a walk in Hastings old shopping quarter! It’s fantastic, exquisite food, soulful music and excellent service. Dog friendly and even let humans in! Can’t recommend it enough, great night of eating, drinking and talking….loved it!

Not overly impressed with the tapas, which ranged between £5 and £6 each! Calamari were chewy and overcooked and the salt cod fish cakes were more potato than anything else. £9.50 for a Pina Colada...which I left as it tasted horrible! Shame because I love...

Incredibly slow service and when it arrived it was disappointing. The sea food tagiatelli was over cooked, drowned in a tomato sauce with a distinct lack of sea food. The burger was very average and the pizza took an hour to arrive.

Popped in on the off chance. Good and safe. Friendly staff and fantastic music. Food was great. Menu small but really well thought out. Something for everyone. Wild mushrooms on toasted ciabatta, and a smoked fish cake with remoulade. DELICIOUS.

Revisited the Dragon Bar yesterday after quite an absence. Enjoyed the Katsu Curry with perfect rice, skate wing which was fresh and succulent and my fussy daughter finished off a fantastic baked egg and prosciutto pizza. Excellent!

Popped in for an impromptu lunch, and was very impressed with the food, incredibly tasty and reasonably priced.

Such a shame this place has great potential but the cocktails are shocking like shockingly bad. Probably worst I’ve ever had. The menu is bizarre, nothing goes together. The pizzas are very average. Although staff try their best.

Visited with family for lunch. Most unpleasant food. Had tapas, limited choice but that's fine if quality makes up for it. It didn't. Prawns were small and nasty. Mushroom in garlic had masses of rosemary but very little garlic and they weren't fresh. The houmus was awful, tasted like it had come out of a tin. The service wasn't great either and cooking slow

The Dragon Bar makes perhaps the best paella I’ve eaten and I eat with a Spanish friend. Sitting outside on a sunny day makes lunch even better.

Whilst we have eaten and had drinks here on a number of occasions, this was our first visit in almost 2 years. For the first time we were underwhelmed. Sadly, the food menu was uninspiring - no one could choose what they wanted and nothing "stood out". When the food arrived, it was OK but not as impressively presented or as delicious as it used to be. There seems to be a focus now on the pizza menu rather than the dinner menu. Not sure if this was due to a change in management, kitchen staff, a cost-cutting exercise, or a mix of all three. Hopefully things will improve if we decide to visit again, otherwise we will choose The Crown up the road.

We were a table of four and had the best food in a long time,I had scallops with crispy bacon and chestnuts with lovely pea shoots,the best scallops ever Another had the cod with Langustines in a great sauce.The guys instead of a traditional roast,which we saw on the next table also looked Fab, their preferred dish was the Mushroom pie with pots and veg.We all very much enjoyed the dishes and the service was excellent.We will return very soon.All very good value for such perfect ingredients well presented.

Phoned up on the off chance they had a table available, and luckily they did and I thank them for it, we was in hastings on a day trip from Ramsgate and saw this lovely little place while walking around, the roast in this place is sooooooo good and amazing value for money, we will defo be popping back again when we visit,if you get the chance it's a must and a hidden little gem

Pretentious and unwelcoming! Would never eat here , it was really bad! I had some sort of soup that tasted like dishwater. the interior is dark and dingy. Nothing good to say about this place at all !!!!!

I had always heard of such good things of dragon bar, hip, trendy and delich I heard, well it wasn’t :( such a disappointment as it was my mums birthday meal, just eurgh food was bland, the pizza was one of worst pizzas we’ve ever had! The person behind the bar seemed distracted when taking my order she was looking past me as if keeping her eye on someone over the other side of the room it was very awkward.

We had an amazing time there for Sunday lunch. The roast was spectacular. The cocktails delicious and the staff were very friendly.

This is the 3 time I’ve been to the dragon bar and each time it’s been significantly worse. Arrived at 1.30 for lunch, about 10 covers in there and more arrived after; ordered some drinks and a pizza. The drinks were great, but very pricey. The pizza was taking a while; other people were getting there food quicker than hours. I’ve worked in the industry before I know how long it takes to cook a veggie pizza. The chef was kicking the oven, the waitress was telling me it’s because the temperature wasn’t high enough and will be two mins. Eventually around 2pm I was like this is rubbish, if they were busy I could expect to wait a little longer. But there was no honestly within the waitress telling us an honest time/ why’s it taking so long. I refused to pay and just before I left the chef called service. Now if you look at the picture, would you call that a cooked pizza? No it’s was cold still with raw cheese on it. Not planning on going back any time soon. If someone could get in contact with me to find out what actually happened that would be great and honestly that’s what the guest deserves!

We visited to catch up.with some old friends and took a very long and lazy lunch. The lunch menu was very reasonably priced but restaurant quality. Service was great, personable, attentive and helpful. Made soggy dogs welcome too! Recommend.

We hadn’t planned this trip to the Dragon Bar, we just called in to see what was on the menu, which does vary depending on what fish has been caught fresh locally. However, on this occasion it was the paella that took our fancy and was this a great choice. Flavours where just wonderful. The service we received was excellent and we love the location, perfect for watching the world go bye as you enjoy a great meal and a glass of something to go with it.

We had to chase our tapas which took over half an hour and people who ordered after us got theirs. Waitress was snotty and treated us like an inconvenience. Then when we go our food was so rude when I asked for side plates. Then obviously this waitress took against us as she left us with our dirty plates in front of us for ages!Honestly owners of this restaurant take note we can spend our money elsewhere and do not need to put up with rude staff!

Sought this bar out after enjoyable meal last year. Wasn't quite so enamored by the food this time but we didn't order so well (two or three of the specials had sold out). Nonetheless, very good food accompanied by nice pint of craft beer. Staff friendly and welcoming as usual. Will return.

I was pleasantly surprised at how good the food was at this restaurant in the old part of Hastings. The four of us met on Wednesday 24th July for lunch at about 1 pm. We did not bother with starters but two of us had the 6 oz Burger and two had the Risotto. We had a jug of water with lemon, orange and cucumber plus some sparkling mineral water. We also had americano coffees. The food and coffee was superb. Very please with the ambiance, service. The bill came to about £56. If I was not driving I would have been tempted to try the 10 different beers on tap! I recommend this restaurant and bar.

Another fantastic lunch today we had paella fab u lous and us little devils we had a cocktail mine was cosmopolitan Pauline mojito and very nice they were then we wobbled back to the but highly recommend this bar we have been there loads of times it never disappoints the chefs are first class

We always come here, nice atmosphere and all round good place but Saturday night the bar man spilt coke all down the back of my legs and hardly a sorry, didn’t even offer me blue roll to wipe my legs, just wiped the bar!!! Paddy sort your staff out!!!

Food was okay at best, went with my boyfriend. We ate a burger and a pizza and found them both mediocre and on top waited a while to receive it. however we did see people eating the dishes off the specials menu and it looked a lot better than our choices! For what we got i would say overpriced but the specials looks very fairly priced for their standard. Drinks on the expensive but maybe fitting in with the area. Good atmosphere.

Just had a very poor meal. I dont know how a chef can make hummus, baba ganoush, whipped feta and something else(so dull I cant remember)tasteless, underseasoned, badly made etc etc. Awful. Won't be back. No-one else was eating so I guess the word has gone round.

On recommendation me and a friend had dinner here. Lovely menu, plenty of choice. Great food, great service, great atmosphere. So cheap had to ask if they had got everything on the bill. Can’t wait to go back.

My husband & I popped into the Dragon Bar for a late lunch & had the most amazing meal. I had lamb which was cooked to perfection & hubby had pork loin & pork cheek. It was the best meal we have ever had in the 10 years we have lived here!! Friendly staff & great service too. Highly recommend this place. We will definitely be back again soon.

popped in here on a late sunday afternoonn and enjoyed a most amazing chicken roast dinner which was probably one of the best one has sampled for a long time.

We had a great lunch of pork belly, scallops and black pudding with cavolo nero and sautéed new potatoes. It was a delicious combination of tasty, well cooked food. The food here never disappoints.

This place was a surprise, from the outside looking in it looked really dark but inside it was really nice with interesting decor. I had mackerel which was very tasty and my husband had the burger which he said was very good.

Saturday afternoon lunch for 4. No need to book in winter but I would do in summer. Tasty fresh fish dishes and desserts. Reasonably priced good wine. Friendly unfussy service. Decor is rustic and with a comfortable atmosphere. Prices are good value. Have visited before and will do so again.
