My daughter went in to Dragon inn to place an order at 5.30pm to be delivered at 7pm when her husband would join us for dinner. The food turned up at 6pm. We rang to complain and we kept hanging on for 10 minutes. We asked to speak to the owner, We were told the owner doesn’t speak English. Oh yes she does. They said “ eat it now or re heat it later “. We said this wasn’t what we wanted to do so ask to be refunded. Then was told “ bring the food back. “. Did do and collected a lovely meal from Rangamati next door. Dragon inn customer service disgusting.

I had some friends round so I ordered online requesting a delivery. Order was placed at 6:10pm on a Saturday evening. I guess this was a busy time but was still surprised to see a delivery estimate of 1hr 40 mins. On that basis I went ahead expecting food around 7:50pm. At 8:20pm there was no sign of food and their tracking showed the food was still 'being processed'. After a number of calls, I finally got through and was told food was on its way. When the delivery guy arrived I explicitly asked whether the food had recently been cooked (not happy if its has sat in his car/van for the two hours we were waiting) - he assured me it had just been cooked and apologised for being late. Was the food hot? Hell no. Lukewarm at best, other bits were cold. We were so hungry we ate it anyway. As it happens the food was not bad. I just like it hot and delivered on time - If Rangamati (the Indian next door) can do it, why can't Dragon Inn? My advice..... on a busy day - go collect. Do NOT order a delivery. If you want food delivered, get it from somewhere more reliable.

Their faux duck is incredible - people don’t notice it’s not real duck until I point it out. Def worth doubling up on the sides with the duck pancakes as you get a hella lot of duck. I love the seaweed without the fish crumb- really tasty.

Take away order- Informed staff member who answered phone we were vegan before placing our order. Mushroom rice had egg in it. When we rang back she said some vegans eat egg!! Obviously has no idea so if you have dietary needs or allergies I would avoid. Refused to refund us for that dish - expected us to drive back and swap it. Didn't want another 15 min drive when we had already started eating our meal. Not good customer service. Last time of using Dragon Inn !!

I'd like to make a formal complaint about our order last night. I didn't call you at I was so furious and your line was busy (no doubt taking more orders you can't actually cope with). We always order our chinese from as your food is undoubtedly the best in the area. However, last night was the second time this year that we've treated ourselves to you food and been bitterly disappointed. Firstly, our food was 45mins late. 45 minutes!!! That's absolutely ridiculous. When I called to ask where our food was, I had to ask not to oay for our prawn crackers by way of apology. They weren't offered.... not great customer service guys! Secondly, when our food arrived the order was wrong. As this point we just despaired! Instead of my husband's chicken chow mein, there was a special fried rice. Given that my husband doesn't eat fish or prawns this was his meal ruined. After all this, and because it was so late in the evening and we were so hungry, we ate the food.... it was COLD. Simply horrible. I'd like to know what you're going to do about this as I can only assume you're taking people's orders and money when you can't actually cope and deliver decent service?

We ordered here for take away this week and food was tasteless , stale and some of it had to go direct in the bin . The chicken was hard seems like it was not cooked at the time of order but was sitting for a long time and reheated for the order . Rice was ok ! Even though could not make out if it was egg or something else in the rice. The fried tofu was horrible and went straight to the bin once we got it home. Don't waste your money here the quality of food has really gone down . We have dined here before when it was restaurant but the will not be ordering takeaway any more !

I've used Dragon Inn as a take away service for years - it became our go to as the food was good and their delivery times were always less than they said. But over the last few months the delivery times have got longer and longer, to the point where today we were told food would be 45 minutes to an hour - after 80 minutes we got fed up and phoned them (this was not the first time that they'd exceeded the delivery time recently) and got told that it hadn't been sent yet; that they'd had a lot of calls and the kitchen had gotten busy after they took our order (so why did that effect our order unless you're prioritizing other people higher?); and that it would be another 20-30 minutes. The food is good, but they have become so unreliable that there is no guarantee when you will get it, so I would recommend avoiding them and using someone else as they've just done a good job of ruining my entire evening.

It’s such a shame that this is no longer a restaurant anymore as it was pretty good back then. It’s just a takeaway now - they always seem to be pretty busy and the phone’s constantly ringing so they’re obviously doing all right. The foods pretty much as expected - nothing wonderful but perfectly ok. Prices are in line with other Chinese takeaways and they do the usual dishes and throw in complimentary prawn crackers as most do.

Such a shame that this local Chinese restaurant has now just become a takeaway as back in the day it was excellent and Winnersh could do with some decent restaurants. As a takeaway it’s much as expected, perfectly ok but nothing special. Price wise it’s average and the food if you collect is hot and they throw in complimentary prawn crackers. They’re a little chaotic at times with one lady taking and handing out orders so would suggest you order early at weekends especially if looking to have it delivered as I’m told waiting times can be over an hour.

They made a mistake with my (delivery) order (again). I called them to get it corrected. They said they couldn’t correct it for 2 hours as they were busy and that what they’d sent was nice so why didn’t I just eat that. I didn’t want what they’d sent and said I couldn’t wait a further 2 hours (having already waited an hour and a quarter) and that they should prioritise the correction above new orders. They were’nt prepared to do that, so I requested the driver return my cash (they don’t do card payments any more). They said they were too busy to return it. I explained that not refunding my money was not a solution and the woman on the ‘phone finally agreed to drop it through my letterbox when she finished work (I will be in bed by then). I told her the food will be waiting for her outside. This is the 3rd time they’ve done this. Enough of this shoddy behaviour, I shall not give them any more chances, I’m not using them again. I suggest that you do not order for delivery unless you are prepared to eat whatever they care to send. AVOID!

Arrived with friends for a meal at 5.30pm on a Friday, en-route to the cinema. I checked on their website that the restaurant would indeed be open, and it was advertised as open from 4.30pm 7 days a week. So, we duly arrived and there was a scruffy hand-written note in the entrance hall stating that the restaurant was not open on Fridays or Saturdays! I had a sit down meal at Christmas here but you feel stuck in a corner with people waiting for takeaways standing around you. Two phone lines but only one person on the end. If they had both lines answered then the kitchen could not cope. My takeaway was good. So owners, noted that you have not replied to anything for two years or more what are you up to?

So, that there is parking available outside and always going to be a table available is clearly a plus. We dropped in soon after 9pm on a Friday and there were only two other tables in use which never bodes well. Mixed starters were pretty good although main courses have that MSG-heavy texture and the chicken lacks texture. My Thai curry was the least Thai curry like I've ever had, with no heat to it, just a pile of meat/veg with some sauce.

Visited here midweek in the early evening. Large room with lots of red chinese lanterns hanging from the ceiling, chinese wall decorations also on display. Clean white tablecloths and linen. We were brought a bowl of prawn crackers to munch on whilst we decided on our food. Food arrived promptly and was piping hot - sweet and sour chicken for me, char sui duck with black bean sauce for my husband. Both meals were very good, well cooked and full of flavour. We also had 2 bottles of Tsingtao beer (£3.30 each). It was only 5 yuan a bottle on the train from Beijing to Xi'an! Having finished our meal and waiting for some time to ask for the bill and to pay, we ended up going to the bar to settle up. Profuse apologies, lots of smiles and thank yous later we were able to leave. Very impressed with the place, the food and the friendly staff.

We went for dinner and took our toddler with us. All you can eat that is served to the table usually works well because he's kept entertained! He was actually being really good but the service was absolutely ridiculous. There was only one waiter, the restaurant probably wasn't even half full. Lots of people coming in for take away. We were there for 2 hours and only had two rounds of starters. Every time we needed anything including drinks or to order our food we had to spend ages trying to get the attention of the waiter. He forgot our drinks, brought the sauce we asked for after so long that we had eaten our food. Brought the cucumber and pancakes but the duck took so long to arrive that we decided to leave after paying a reduced amount. The food is average, not much flavour. Wouldn't be desperate to return!

For the 'all you can eat' here you order as many dishes as you like from the menu (limited compared to usual full menu). The food was nice and piping hot as cooked fresh, I wish the portions had been a bit smaller so we could have tried a few more dishes as there were just the two of us. The service was fine, the decor is a little run down in there, it could do with a bit of pep, as it's quite a plain setting. The food isn't extraordinary, but it is nice, and we would go again.

We used to go there a couple of times a month wither to eat in or takeaway. I believe that there was a change of ownership and the quality of the food has gone down hill drastically. I put it down to being a one off but the next takeaway was full of sugar and almost inedible.Apart from that, the service is fast and friendly, possibly due to the place not being overrun with customers. However when the waiter did come out he was welcoming. It was a very cold evening and the heating in the restaurant was not ideal - I sat with my coat around my shoulders for much of the evening, even my friend who rarely feels the cold commented on the lack of warmth. The starters of salt and pepper squid and prawns were ok but very salty(yes I know it is listed with salt and pepper but...) and rather oily despite what we had been told. The crispy duck was not the best. There is a very good takeaway in Wokingham which does a much better job of it. A shame I cannot be more positive from this outing. The waiter was friendly.

After some time we we were told that as the total bill is less than £10 per head we need to order more as we are sitting at the big table!!(by the way the restaurant was almost empty). Have never heard this logic before. We didn't agree and they 'waived' it off.In the end, in the bill we were charged for the tap water!! (£0.50 per glass). Again a first time experience in UK. The lady 'manager' was rude and was talking in chinese and this poor waiter was translating in english but not fully but we felt he was empathizing with us. A group of 26 of us went for New Year's Eve, they could not seem to handle this size group. They decided they were too busy to offer the all you can eat advertised on the website even though the place was empty, they even said they didn't do the website so it doesn't count! We waited over half an hour for drinks and was boiling as they refused to turn the heater above our table off! The food was good but took a very long time & the staff were not friendly at all they were rude & seemed really unwilling to get drinks etc, even though we booked this weeks ago they seemed so unprepared for a large group!

Food is lovely. Service is attentive without being intrusive. Spare ribs are to die for. Not many decent Chinese in the basingstoke / reading area but this one is worth the 18 mile drive we made to come here !!!!!

Have used this Chinese for a number of years but our visit in Sept was not ideal. It was a Saturday and the Restaurant was almost empty. We all thought the food had fallen below what we knew it could do. The fact that it was almost empty also told us that something was wrong as we had never seen it like this before. The wine was very nice.

I do desperately need a local Chinese have over the years tried them for Eat in and take away. My verdict it's not nice food and over priced.Much prefer the Offerings in Wokingham. There isn't anything positive apart from the location in 12 years 2 times here and on average twice a month from Wokingham.

I rang this restaurant for a takeaway delivery for 4 people. The last dish I ordered was for a gluten intolerant person and I asked the lady if the dish contained gluten, she did not entirely understand me, which is fair enough, so passed me to the manager who spoke very good english and tried to answer my question. We have ordered gluten free food from this restaurant in the past and the chefs were helpful and understood this requirement, but on this occasion the manager told me they were too busy and decided to hang up the phone on me as he did not think we were going to order. I called back only for the lady to be equally as rude. We were regular visitors to this restaurant and for takeaways and have received good service in the past and the food is usually good, but the horrible way I was treated on the phone has put me off for good. Such a shame.

"This place has been getting a few rough reviews recently" - now I know why !Family visit on a Sunday evening: 5 adults, plus one child and a baby. Restaurant not busy - 3 or 4 tables in use - mostly couples. There was so much wrong it almost became laughable in a "Fawlty Towers" way. I cannot list everything but the main points were:Terribly terribly slow service throughout including between courses. Once drinks had been ordered - I believe the Coke/Pepsi (as stated on the menu) is the cheap and nasty bar mix (syphon gun type) beverage not the "real stuff" - and it was £1.90 a glass ! (no sign of a branded bottle). We then sat and waited until they discovered we hadn't been given the food menu. When our order was eventually taken 3 adults plus the child (4 years old) ordered the buffet and the remaining 2 adults ordered a la carte. After taking our order and waiting some time another waitress came to the table and abruptly informed us that everyone had to have the buffet. We pointed out that it said nothing about this on the menu - only that there was a minimum of 2 required for the buffet. One of the a la carte orders was not on the buffet and the other only wanted a small dinner - one item plus rice. We were quite curtly and rudely informed that buffet food was only for customers ordering the buffet and were made to feel most awkward about our order. We could see the waitresses watching us like hawks throughout our meal to ensure that buffet food was not being shared amongst our party - which it was not - and obviously talking about us. When the food arrived some of the items ordered on the buffet were not served and other items were served in portions for 4 where only 1 person had ordered - not great when the buffet menu draws diners attention to the fact that over-ordered uneaten food would be charged at full menu price. Another waitress was also suffering from a bad cough (not her fault) but was constantly coughing without covering her mouth. For over £100 (and they include a service charge !!! - fortunate as they would not have received a tip from us) not a great experience and one we will definitely not be repeating.

This place has been getting a few rough reviews recently - we've been before and enjoyed it, so decided to go anyway. We're glad we did - we had a nice meal out.It was a quiet midweek evening, which probably helps, but the service was prompt and friendly. The food was good without being outstanding - the sesame toast could have done with a few more prawns and some of the beef was a little chewy... On the other hand, the crispy duck was crispy, the egg fried rice was eggy, and three different chicken dishes were very good indeed. You have a choice between a standard a la carte menu and (except Fri/Sat) an "all the food you can eat" deal for £18.50. If you are very hungry this could be a bargain - but if you're going to eat a normal amount of food then it may be marginal and possibly cheaper to go a la carte. Whatever. Your choice.

My partner and I regularly order home deliveries from The Dragon Inn and the food is excellent, we have also eaten in the restaurant several times during the week and again, excellent food. Decided yesterday (Saturday) to book a table and "eat in" - what a disappointment! Waited 5 minutes to be seated, waited a further 20 minutes to be spoken to to order drinks and food, 20 minutes later I was asked again what I ordered and then after a total of 30 minutes starters were brought out, but half of mine were missing and I was told I wouldn't be charged for the items they had forgotten! Waited a further 30 minutes for duck, then 30 minutes again for main courses... food was excellent as always, but service was absolutely terrible. On the last occasion drinks took so long to come that I asked if were they on their way, they finally arrived but on the bill I was charged twice so it appears if you chase up your drinks you get charged twice.Lesson learnt is that if there are more than 6 tables filled up then do not expect any type of service, will now only order home deliveries.

After eating here for 4 years, it's disappointing that I have to write a bad review. I almost wrote one a few weeks go, but my other half advised against it.In short, I ordered a delivery this evening, and my order was wrong. One dish wasn't correct. I put both of my dishes to one side and called to ask for a replacement. 26 calls later, I finally got through. After some arguing they agreed to replace both dishes. I then got a call back saying they would only replace the incorrect one. Now, I didn't want to eat a hot dish with a cold dish, so I drove to the restaurant to obtain a refund. After a long wait and a bit of two and fro, I was told they could refund, but first I'd have to drive home to get my other half bank card. 20 minutes later I returned with the card. Obtained a silent refund, no apology. After spending £20-£40 a week there for 4 years, I was disappointed that they didn't give a quick "sorry" for the inconvenience. Mistakes happen(a lot here recently) but it's the way they're dealt with that makes the difference. I'll never order here again

We stopped here and picked up a take away a couple of months ago and were impressed with the food, so Valentines day evening we decided to put an order in for home delivery. The order was phoned through just before 7.30pm, and we we're told it would be about an hour. By 9pm, no sign of our food, so we phoned the restaurant and we're told 15 minutes (no apology), our food finally arrived shortly before 10pm! While I appreciate it being peak time on a busy night, I do not think 2 and a half hours is an acceptable delivery time frame. Had we of been told this when placing our order then we would have taken our business elsewhere. To add insult to injury, we received no apology for the delay either! As for the food, maybe because it was a busy night for them, but the food was certainly not of the same standard we had a couple of months ago and the Pad Thai was probably the worst example of this dish I have ever had - tasteless! In short, we will definitely not be eating here again and will not recommend this restaurant either!

Having tried 2 other local Chinese takeaways both of which were very poor, we decided to try the takeaway service at the Dragon Inn. We got restaurant quality food, and as vegetarians were really pleased with the variety of tofu and vegetable dishes on offer on the takeaway list. Fresh, colourful and very tasty.

Over Chistmas we were late to book a restaurant as there were 6 in our party we were surprised to get a booking at the Dragon Inn l was told on the phone be there by 7pm or we would lose our table l was not offended at the time as it was Christmas after all.On arrival at 6.55 we were ignored till 7pm although only 3 tables were in use so not busy. There were 4 women serving none spoke fluent English when eventually asked what drinks we would like l was told to hurry up & decide on our set meal choices(18.50 each) as it was a busy time for them, the Woman who seemed in charge huffed & tutted on several questions & grew increasingly agitated with us as we couldn't understand her.throughout the evening we were ignored at one point my partner said sorry we seem to have made a bit of a mess with the satay chicken which dripped on the tablecloth to which one of the servers rolled her eyes & exclaimed loudly YES YOU HAVE!the last straw was when l discreetly collected a few small pieces of the left over crispy duck left over from our families plates to put in a serviette for my dog at home only to be spotted by one of the servers who loudly said NO NO NO that is for restaurant buffet. i said no this is left overs we paid for she then tried to snatch the plate from my husband he held firm so they then refused to serve us anymore & just dumped the bill on the table! l won't go on anymore about it except we will not return there ever to spend another £169.50 plus self included service charge, l did not leave an extra tip!

We recently attended this restaurant just before Christmas. As soon as we entered a rather rude lady asked if we'd booked, we had, she showed us to our table. We asked if we could sit at another table and were told that we could not, this was our table. We stayed for about two hours, during that time only one other family sat down to eat so why we couldn't have used another table is beyond me. All tables were ready for diners. Food quality has gone downhill since I last visited, the fried rice was tasteless and the chicken wings had been pre-cooked and reheated resulting in a stale taste and dry, drab, overcooked chicken.Service was terrible and rude and it's worth remembering that cost was about £25 per head on average.Avoid, go elsewhere. Any restaurant that has barely any customers during Christmas is doing something wrong, this place used to always be packed. I found out that they're under new management now and these guys are terrible.

A wide range of vegetarian and vegan options available which was brilliant. I had the aromatic crispy mock duck, spring onion/ginger tofu and salt and pepper chips. Loved every single mouthful! My companion had one of the meat dishes and said it was really good too.Expensive compared to other Chinese restaurants in the area but I will go back due to the wide variety of veggie food options.

We used to visit the Dragon Inn quite a lot to dine in and sometimes takeaway. It was always about 50% more expensive than other Chinese restaurants around here but that was ok because the quality was much better and dishes were different and interesting. However, I think recently this has changed hands. The menu is now akin to your average greasy Chinese takeaway yet the prices have remained high. The Thai curry I had was the worst I ever have, had it not been written on the box I wouldn't have guessed it. Quality of meat is poor, small chips of beef (I think) and I would have sworn the duck was pork. The inside of the restaurant was never the selling point for this place but the now vacant fish tank is just depressing. Chopsticks in paper packets too, very very disappointing.Try the Haka in Wokingham if you want "greasy" Chinese - much much better and 2/3 the price. If you're looking for something similar to the old Dragon Inn (menu, prices and service), Kei's in Lower Earley would be my recommend.

A great restaurant , with fantastic staff. I have visited this restaurant on several occasions and each time feels as special as the last. The food is second to none and I have never had a poor experience. The staff are polite, and the management are really hands on with customer service a priority. TRY THE DUCK it is the best, especially on all you can eat Sundays when accompanied by two hungry teenagers !

Went for dinner on a Sunday night. They were short staffed and ignored us for some time. It was one of those, "I am going to walk out in a minute", however, we were glad we didn't because when the food came it was stunning. I had the pepper and salt squid deep fried in a batter, it was the most delicious squid I have ever eaten, and I have eaten a few. The chef is the owner and he is clearly gifted with food. You could taste the total care with which his food was cooked. Well worth a visit.

Having lived in Winnersh for the past 18 months I can safely say that I have found no better Chinese cuisine than at The Dragon Inn. Not only is the food delicious, but the staff are warm, friendly and welcoming. Use it for both takeaways and for eating in. Their 'all you can eat' buffets on a Sunday/Monday evening come highly recommended, all the food is cooked fresh to order which makes a wonderful change to my previous experiences of Chinese buffets.

Great Chinese food & Service. The staff are always happy & attentitive. Reasonably priced & I continue to dine there. New Year's Eve is always a great atmosphere with a great set menu. Sometimes you can find house wines terrible but their house red is very drinkable & goes well with the beef dishes.Always willing to cater for anything if you ask.A great little gem.

I have been to this restaurant a number of times over the past few years, the last visit before this one being Christmas 2012 with family. I suggested it as an option for a meal with my boss & 2 colleagues. l was slightly nervous that it lived up to expectations. I need not have worried. All of us thoroughly enjoyed the food & wine (we had the Sauvignon) & my boss has said she will be recommending to her husband for a meal there soon. Good value for money, we had the £18.50 eat as much as you like menu which I’m pleased to say you select from a menu & they bring to your table fresh from the kitchen, its not one of those 'slop tray' style buffet places!

Just spent £50 on without doubt the worst takeaway I have ever tasted Tasted as if it was cooked in candle wax no meat in spring roll Very very bad don’t wast your hard earned cash I never write a review ever Felt the good people of Steeple Claydon deserve better …

Tried this takeaway for the first time and found the online ordering very good but the food was a different story. All the dishes were swimming in a tasteless grey liquid and the food was soggy like it has been kept warm and not cooked in a wok. The chicken was very white and looked like preformed children’s plastic toy food and rubbery, everything lacked taste. Very average food and won’t be using again there is an outstanding take away nearby.

We love Kei's! Tasty, authentic food of high quality. Would recommend the all you can eat menu (£30.95 pp) instead of the a la carte menu, only because you get more variety of dishes and better value for money.
