Dragon Inn in Havant

Came into this establishment on a lunch break hoping to scran some salt and chilli chips and curry sauce only to find that they have a card limit of £20. As someone that has worked in customer service for years, I can completely understand the need to have a card limit due to taxation and the ability to maximise profits. However £20 is just complete greed by the business. After my friend went to a local cash point we were able to order, however upon return, we were waiting 10 minutes to be served and even longer for the single portion of chips. The chips were mid at best. Will not be returning!!

Would strongly advise avoiding this place at all cost!!! Have been using dragon inn for the several years even when living in horndean, unfortunately the second to last meal wasnt great and gave my family very upset stomach’s! (We all have cast iron guts)! thinking it may have just been a one off we ordered again from there last night 25/10/2024 and the food was even worse, they have clearly changed some ingredient's or started using more and more artificial products to boost the flavour along with msg, the 4 of us from 11pm onwards have been violently sick and have had diarrhoea this so far has lasted 12 hours and still continuing ! Its a shame because there service is always great and speedy delivery, it was one of the best chinese take outs in the area however as stated above they are either using alot of artificial products / too much MSG or just not storing / cooking the meat properly which i mention as all 4 of us had different dishes ranging from spare ribs to chicken curry, beef chowmein, and even spring roll. Very disappointed ❌

Just ordered kunp po chicken was really dark in colour and far to salty really dissapointed as have ordered from here before but this was horrible

Prices seem to go up regularly and the portion sizes/quality go down. Cold reheated chips, stale soggy batter really dissapointing. Not good value for money. I don't think I've ever had freshly cooked chips there. Stick to the Chinese food as that's good I will say that , but as a chip shop no.. At least there's a chippy , pizza place and Indian either side to spend money at now! Such a shame because the lad that works there is always friendly and welcoming.

Large cold was cold and wet between the fish and batter the battery wasn't crispy one bit..

Always happy with Dragon Inn, been using them for years. Never had a problem with food or quality. Lovely people and always so friendly.

Gone right down hill. Chips are dripping in grease soft and taste like they have been re-heated, food is always cold when delivered. Minimum delivery is Now 15.00. Won't be comming back no time soon.

The Chicken Chow Mein, Satay Sauce and Crispy Chilli Beef were.lovely. Will definitely be back!

A lovely take away, my newest discovery the last few meals have been absolutely top notch .And this place is right on the doorstep . I would recommend it to anyone. There is a choice of small or lage portions. I guarantee you won't go hungry. Well done to all concerned. P.s the batter on the balls is crispy and light, and cooked perfect everytime.

Absolutely the worst Chinese I have ever ordered. Chips soggy as anything. Noodles not even cooked, hard and congealed together. Prawn crackers like rock and chicken balls don’t even go there, same with the soggy ‘battered’ sausage 🤢. Don’t waste your money.

Told 40min for delivery 1hr and 40 mins later still not arrived despite phone calls and them telling me would be 10 more minits 40 mins later still not hear an when arrived its luke warm 😡

Ordered large chips, which to me where a small portion,had to go back out for another portion of chip plus they where very bitty not chips scrapings. Plus ordered fish cakes which where very over cooked, very dry. I Wish I had taken pictures. I will not be going there again what a disappointment.

So glad their up and running again, Great Food, Hot, Fresh and lovely, great size portions too.

Well what can I say just finished my meal which was mixed chow main with egg fried rice and sweet and sour sauce and absolutely stuffed. Now that was full of flavours and delicious.the portions were perfect size with some still left over. Very good quality Chinese food for value of money.. would recommend to anyone that wants decent Chinese 👌

I get takeaways from here all the time for me and my family and it is absolutely delicious every time!! Prices are good, service is great, very friendly and food is amazing! Definitely recommend! Perfect!

I’m ashamed to write this review, but each of the three dishes I purchased here was so bad I felt like I had no other choice. The Singapore Noodle was so dry and under cooker it was hard to believe! The little scraps of meat it did have was laid on top the rest was dried hard noodle. The Hong Kong Style was dry as a bone with a thin layer of sweat and sour sauce at the bottom. The chicken in Peanut sauce was the worst of all with terrible watery sauce and hard, yes hard boiled chicken. The whole meal had to go into the bin.

What a mistake that was. Chips were half decent but as for the Chinese food... I should’ve just eaten some gravel out of my garden! The prawn toast was dribbling with what I can only assume was the sorry detritus left in the fryer after a lonely prawn has been minced into a piece of hovis and had some smart price sesame seeds sprinkled on top. The shredded beef was, well, not like shredded beef. More like shredded 1980’s wooden golf clubs with some sauce on top. And the seaweed, well I won’t even go there. Imagine trying to eat a whole cabbage, mixed with a ‘milk and two’ cup of tea. Yeah, now you feel my pain. I won’t go into anymore painful detail but the experience was bad. Chips were ok though!

Always use this takeaway for both Chinese food & for fish & chips. I recommend the Singapore Rice Noodles, nice & spicy with fresh vegetables. Can get very busy but only shows it’s a good takeaway if so many people use it.

Best Chinese / fish and chip shop in the area

I went to get some tea with a friend and I ordered egg fried rice when I went to eat the rice if was almost black and was burnt

I have been using on a regular basis never had a bad meal. pleasant helpful staff at all times and the chips as is the fish excellent definately a must try for first timers. RECOMMENDED

Here for a lunch time Chinese take away. Large order and all freshly cooked, hot and not greasy. Easy off street parking whilst waiting for order. Also serves Fish and chips and burgers. A very comprehensive menu is available.

Have decided to have a rest from going here Friday eves. It is very busy with phone orders at that peak time and chaotic in organisation. Counter service is only as good as the young women serving and the most efficient ones seem to have left. Owner is shouty and sadly seems to be disrespectful of his staff on occasions. Portion generosity is unpredictable but everything is about 40p cheaper than anywhere else. Chips slightly on the greasy side but tasty all the same. Best visited mid week maybe.

Always enjoy the food from the Dragon in, have only had one incident when things were a little over done. Jaime who is on the phone at weekends taking orders is friendly and helpful, the reason I have given 4 stars is that we have been there on occasion and there seems like a war/arguments going on out the back (one of those times was the time our food was overcooked). However, we called to say things weren't right and it was sorted out in our next visit. I felt quite uncomfortable at how one man was speaking to the staff in front of customers. If the atmosphere was more relaxed I would have given 5 stars. But the food, is tasty! :)

Very nice currys been looking round for a decent curry for ages and now we have found it this is are regular curry house now ordered afew times and the quality has not slipped once perfect highly recommended

Food would probably be nice if it was warm when it was delivered, took 1hr 30min to deliver, not good.

Been going to this place for years never had a problem. And the staff are really nice. Keep up the good work guys.

Highly recommended. Best fish&chips & chinese around - quality product, perfectly cooked generous portions. Very friendly staff, both in the shop and when delivered. No order too small, or big - every order we have had has been treated with care and respect. Great choice of food, at a great price. What is also nice is that they will deliver fish&chips and you get proper chips - not the thin/stringy fries! Food is always piping hot when delivered. Loads of parking, if collecting food. Our only negative thought is that, sadly, they are not open on Bank Holidays, which is often when you have family over for food or fancy a treat. More than happy to recommend Dragon Inn.

Very disappointing after seeing two four star reviews. I pre ordered by phone and was told 5 to 10 mins so I turned up ten mins later to find they were still discussing if they needed two large haddock or not ! And at almost eleven pounds not much in it price wise with DB in Purbrook Food was hot but very greasy, sorry to say won't be using them again. Back to the other one in Purbrook fro me !
