Went to Folkestone for day trip. Friend recommended we visit this place amongst other things. So we turned up on spec and were asked if we had reservation and replied that we didn't and were then asked to wait couple of minutes for a table to be cleaned. Phew, yippee we're going in. And how glad am I that we did? The food in here is exceptional, really really good plant based grub that is tasty and filling. Lovely staff who looked after us well and really nice space to eat. Drinks were great, my partner thought her home made lemonade was as good as she's had and I had a DFL cos I was today. Thanks folks, hope we can get back soon.

Excellent food, lovely ambiance, friendly service. Six of us had dinner here last night. We shared delicious home made flatbread and hummus, and the pickled vegetables for starters. Three of us had the burgers which everyone loved, another had sausages and beautifully fluffy mash and me and another had the pie with root veg mash which was absolutely top notch - crisp pastry, rich gravy - really tasty. One of our group is a dedicated meat eater and even he thought the burger was excellent, so everyone was happy. Sadly we didn’t have room for dessert as they looked delicious. We would all highly recommend this place whether you’re vegan or not. There’s not a huge menu as the food is all freshly cooked with quality ingredients which is evident. We will definitely return.

Wonderfully creative vegan food, that deserves a Michelin Star ⭐⭐⭐ There is something quite delightful about not having to ask "is this vegan?"! We're always delighted with flavour profiles, the inventive team come up with. We shared 4 small plates, and only just had enough room for pudding... Which you must not miss! Cosy and intimate, but not stuffy. If you've not been, do it!

Dr Legumes is an absolute gem in Folkestone for vegan dining. I've been several times now and every visit leaves me more impressed. Their breafast options are nothing short of spectacular. The flavours are vibrant and the portions are generous. In partucular the seitan burger it's honestly one of the best burgers I've ever had. The texture and consistancy is spot on and combination of flavours in every bite is just perfect. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming with that laid-back modern/natural vibe and the staff are super friendly and clearly passionate about what they do. If you're in Folkestone and haven't tried Dr Legumes yet, you're missing out. Whether you're a vegna or just love great food, this place is a must visit! Highly recommend it!

We had breakfast here on Jan 3rd 2025, and it was amazing! Bit pricey and a bit of a wait, but worth every minute and every penny. I had the full breakfast and every single element was just perfectly elevated, with so much care and attention...and a clear love and appreciation of good food. I'm still thinking about that baked tomato (I mean that's supposed to be the boring bit, right?). I can honestly say it was my best breakfast EVER (vegan or not). Partner had the fritata which was equally elevated and delicious. These guys are doing awesome things, really really well, and are definitely worthy of support! #Veganuary

Exceptional food and exciting flavours that made such a welcome change !. The three of us tried different dishes and all of them were scrumptious!. I will be back for sure . Expect to wait a while for food as everything is prepared fresh .... It's all well worth the wait

A fantastic vegan restaurant in the heart of Folkestone. Incredible food, inventive and delicious menu, would wholeheartedly recommend to anyone including meat eaters who fancy trying something different.

What a surprise this place was. I wasn't expecting great cuisine in Folkstone so was more than happy to find a plant-based dinning option. The food was sublime, and the intimate space made the experience even better.

Went here the other week for an evening meal. The food was amazing, great value for money, plenty of options, even desserts! (High five to the chefs) The front of house staff were amazing, polite, attentive, and considerate. Overall, just a really great evening / meal out with my partner. Could not have asked for more.

The food was tasty, the portion and price were fine. However, I was tempted by the menu on the website, which had a large selection. On site, it turned out that there were only two options for lunch: a burger and a sandwich. Unfortunately, that's not enough. We ordered burgers, which were tasty. An update of the website and an up-to-date menu would be useful. Unfortunately, this lack of good information discouraged me from coming back and affected the overall assessment. The service was nice and able to explain everything. I thought this restaurant would be a great experience, but I was wrong.

Food so tasty! Despite not being a vegetarian, this food is so tasty and full of flavour that it will convince any meat eater that this place is a great option. Thank you to the friendly staff too!

Creative and delicious vegan small plates. We first encountered Dr Legumes when they were based at the harbour where we had a memorable birthday lunch for my wife. Pleased to see they appear to be thriving and now located in a pleasant part of town. The service was friendly, the upstairs seating cosy with plants and artwork creating a lovely atmosphere. The food is all made fresh to order with a focus on local ingredients, all dishes had fantastic flavours and were beautifully presented. The heritage tomatoes with sourdough croutons and the tempura oyster mushrooms were highlights but we could have eaten the whole menu! The sticky toffee pudding with ice cream for dessert was outstanding too! All washed down with a local brewers Docker DFL (LOL!) IPA. Definitely going back again. Yum!

The food is simply sublime and unique. I've never eaten what they create anywhere else. Highly recommend.

The pea pancakes were a surprising hit - even for our pea-skeptic child! Paired with yogurt and stewed fruits, it's a flavour combo that works. My nourishing bowl of kale, sauerkraut, tempeh, mushrooms, and rice was a wholesome delight. The relaxed atmosphere and good tunes create a perfect backdrop for people-watching as Folkestone's tourists stroll by. Ample seating options cater to all preferences. A solid spot for vegans and curious foodies alike. Definitely worth a visit when you're in town!

We had the 3 course (which was actually 5 course) dinner menu with wine pairings, for the Folkestone food festival 2024. Food was exceptional, the best vegan food I have tasted, and wine was delicious. Highly recommended.

Wow wow wow, had a truly amazing experience here. I visit a lot of vegan restaurants and the food is really excellent, beautifully balanced and made with love. Came with non-vegans who also loved the food. Prices very reasonable too. Can’t wait to come back and try more!

Food easily deserves 5/5 stars, very delicious. The service sadly not, long waiting times (even though the restaurant was only half full), charging 13 £ too much (I only realised because I took a look at the receipt afterwards) and all that for 12,5% service charge which wasn’t mentioned beforehand.

We stumbled on Dr Legumes by chance on an unplanned trip to Folkestone. We had a great light lunch and it’s such a treat to be spoiled for choice with an all-vegan menu.

Absolutely delicious vegan food. We all enjoyed it (a family of vegetarians and a meat eater). Highly recommend!

After wanting to visit for some time now, we finally got the chance. We sat upstairs, surrounded by plants. We ordered an apple juice and home made lemonade, both were great, and was told there was a roast on the menu so both chose that. Drinks arrived promtly, followed by our roast. The pea meat was different to other meat substitutes I’d had before, for all the right reasons! And every vegetable on the plate seemed to have extra care creating a new flavour experience for every mouthfull. And my first Yorkshire pudding too! After we absolutly smashed that, we both shared a sticky toffee pudding which was amazing. Defiantly recommend atleast the roast. Can’t wait to try the rest.

Well what can I say .. it's Probably the best experience my body had in year ,ive always been a meat eater ,but just recently I went to a work shop there and sampled the food, not knowing what to expect, I didn't realise food could taste so good without meat ! It was bloody delicious ..I feel really converted..not only that I had the best night sleep ever that night ,not sure if it's Connected but I felt it was ...amazing place can't wait to go back and sample something else. Xxx

Fantastic first visit for us at lunchtime today, music, decor and service was faultless. 10/10 I had a superb passion fruit lemonade with a freshly grilled Reuben sandwich. Yum!

Very nice place with tasty vegetarian food. But the service is a bit slow and there is something wrong with the order and payment as well. It is better to have a more digital order and payment system.

Exceptional food. I chose the tart tatin and the tomato crumble tart…both were exceptionally well crafted dishes. Highlights were the zingyness of the whipped feta and the beetroot culture that came with the Tatin Greens on the side were full of flavour too and not just an afterthought like so many side dishes can be. Everything taken care of FOH by a charmingly affable chap Jimmy. I’d dock half an atmosphere star for the at times dodgy experimental music if I was being unkind but that just wouldn’t be right - not when a restaurant puts so much love into what they do ;)

My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our meal. Great service, amazing food full of flavours. High quality food packed with flavour, seasoned to perfection. Presentation of food excellent. We are not vegetarian or vegan but have returned to this restaurant due to the choice and flavours of the good food served. We would recommend this restaurant for a fantastic meal.

Йогурта для мюслей не оказалось, поэтому повар побежал за ним. Чтобы сгладить долгое ожидание, нам подарили свежую булочку с шоколадом, она была очень вкусная. Прекрасное место! Очень советуем посетить, если забрели в эти края.

We had an amazing experience at Dr. Legumes this evening in their new premised in the center of town. We decided to share some dishes and received such a variety of flavours, colours, smells. Every plate was gorgeous. I really recommend the Bombay potatoes and the beetroot tart. The staff is lovely, knowledgeable about the food/drinks and very welcoming. Would thoroughly recommend!

Staff here are so lovely, and the food is absolutely delicious!! The time it takes for food to arrive can take some time depending on how busy it is, but generally highly recommended place to eat!

Delicious food, beautifully presented

It's no longer at the address listed on Google maps... You'll now find it across the street from Sweet Rendezvous. The new place is charming albeit small, so it's best to make reservations. The food itself is simple, delicious and packed with flavours. We tried the banana chocolate bread, the breakfast ciabatta, Dr Legume's cooked breakfast and the good mood food plate. All were really tasty and visually stunning. The standout dish for me would be the breakfast ciabatta. Perfectly crisp ciabatta paired with vegan bacon and sausage, can't go wrong with it.

Very very happy vegan chef yesterday, popped in here for some food after doing a bit of business in Folkestone and I was not disappointed, fantastic service, superb food, nice beer and a nice chilled atmosphere. Can't wait to go back and try some more of the menu 💚💚💚

I am absolutely adore Dr Legumes! Delicious food, I would certainly eat here everyday if I could. The Valentines cook at home meals were out of this world. My favourite go to during the day is the Reuben sandwich.

Wow. Honestly one of the best restaurants we've ever eaten at. We've been here a few times now, and the food is always consistently excellent. The chefs here are true artists! Food is authentic & absolutely delicious. So happy to see some amazing vegan food in our local area! Hats off to them, great chefs, great staff. We called in for lunch without a booking and were able to squeeze in, but were advised that there was a bit of a wait. This ended up being minimal and we were comfortable with drinks whilst waiting for our food order to be taken. Hot chocolate was delicious. Would be nice to see some local beers and ciders on offer rather than Moretti and Westons. The menu offers loads of amazing options, my husband ended up going for the Rubens sandwich and I had the SFS (Southern Fried Seitan) fillet burger, both of which came with chips and a side salad. Even the little side salad was excellent, the pickled radishes were incredible. Skin on chips were amaaaazing, super crispy on the outside and so fluffy inside - mega chunky too! Both dishes were sublime. I love a burger and will almost always choose a vegan burger on any menu and this was probably one of the best, if not THE best one I've tried. The seitan was perfectly cooked and the spiced crumb coating was so tasty. We live about 45 mins from Folkestone but will definitely be coming back to check out the new venue when Dr. Legumes move to the town centre. We were also presently surprised when the bill came - great value. My only gripe was that the music was a little loud, it resulted in the room full of diners shouting over one another to speak to the others on their tables.

Beautifully presented food, full of flavour. You can also eat something different, no boring penne pasta near! It is also great to eat in an all vegan resturant, with no fear of someone putting something, non-vegan in your food by accident. Staff are friendly and service attentive. You can park right outside in the large car park (Harbour Arm car park). It's not the biggest of places, so would recommend booking.

My boyfriend took me here as a surprise for our anniversary so I was really excited when we arrived. We are both vegan and was pleasantly surprised to see such a wide range of vegan dishes! It was hard to choose from the menu as everything sounded delicious, so we decided to get 3 mains to share which was a good idea! We had the tart, the beer battered banana blossom and pea meat dish. We also shared two puddings (again, we couldn’t decide on one) we had the treacle sponge and the beetroot brownie.The presentation and attention to detail was amazing on every single dish. The taste was even better, the best vegan meal we have had so far. Would highly recommend (even if you are not vegan) and we will definitely be coming back! A must try for sure, we will be spreading the word.

What can I say!? Wow! The best vegan restaurant I've been to and located on the harbour arm in Folkestone. Great food, great location as well as friendly and welcoming staff. Order the Reuben, it was amazing 😋

Most delicious breakfast ever ! It’s a MUST TRY place , lovely atmosphere and authentic scrumptious food !!!

The best vegan food we've ever tasted. Tastes even better than it looks. Definitely coming back. It was a bit difficult to find when we first visited as there was an outdoor event going on in the car park, but subsequent visits have been fine. Its located next to the old Folkestone Harbour Station and Harbour Arm. The views back across the bay and along the coast are great. The staff are very friendly and polite. Its not the biggest place to eat, which means its best to book, but it also makes it a fairly calm place to eat too.

The food was utterly delicious. Beautifully presented. Friendly staff. I can personally recommend the sweet miso breaded aubergine, the Rubens pastrami, the BBQ slider and the seasonal greens. These young chefs seriously know how to impart flavour. Understated, utilitarian design inside. Limited seating inside, loads outside if weather is decent and wind isn't too bracing. Seriously, it's an absolute gem and I'd go back tomorrow to try more dishes if I could. Totes amazeballs.

Another delicious meal at Dr Legumes. We do not eat here all that often but have never had a disappointing dining experience. On this occasion there was a mixture of hail, sleet, driving rain and snow outside but we were cosily ensconced within. Unsurprisingly with the weather there was just one other group of diner's. Check in advance about opening hours, online they were listed as opening from 11 in the morning. Knocked on the door at 11 and they said that they are open from midday. Youngest offspring had a seitan burger & we were all (pleasantly) surprised by the texture that Dr Legumes had achieved with the seitan patty. Light and fluffy, not come across this with seitan before. Excellent. My salad was scrummy. Thank you to the team at Dr Legumes, lovely meal watching the dramatic weather over Folkestone harbour.

Little gem tucked away in a corner of the harbour. I’ve been just for breakfast and the porridge was amazing - probably the best one I’ve had so far. Yum!

Delicious food in a very relaxed setting. Our waitress Esme was extremely friendly and efficient making us feel very welcome on what was our first visit but it certainly won't be our last.

Such amazing food - some of the best vegan dishes we have ever tasted. We loved our dinner so much we came back in the morning for Sunday brunch - which was equally astounding. And then there's the fact it's great value, the people working there are lovely, the space is cosy and quirky. If you're a food lover this place is an essential visit. If you're a vegan food lover this place is pretty much the eighth wonder of the world.

OUTSTANDING We have visited many times as thankfully we live local to this incredible restaurant. Vegan food at its finest. Inventive, beautifully presented and delicious food cooked and served by passionate chefs. Small quirky venue on the harbour arm. You would be a fool to miss this place if you're in the area. Excellent food, really tasty, hearty and warming on a cold day. Nice space too. Don't go in if you're in a rush/after a quick bite as the food took quite a long time to arrive, but it was worth the wait, so if you've got the time then I definitely recommend it.
