Downey's in Sunderland

Después de un día ajetreado en el trabajo pasé por esta tienda de patatas fritas alrededor de las 7 de la tarde solo quería algo rápido y fácil opté por salchichas y patatas fritas... ... ... gran error cuando llegué a casa las patatas fritas parecían como si hubieran sido cocinadas 4 días antes y se recalentaban todos los días ya que eran marrones algo quemados y como cuero de bota vieja asqueroso la salchicha no era mejor y estaba fría de arcilla pagué £ 5 : 70 por esta mierda todo el lote se fue a la papelera. Lo habría hecho y debería haberlo devuelto, sin embargo, después del día que tuve no me podía molestar, así que decidí volver a la mierda lo servido dejando un 0 sobre 10 reseña... . . Nunca oscurecería sus puertas de nuevo absolutamente vil.

Una vez más patatas fritas muy decepcionadas viejas e insípidas nunca más escoria absoluta. lo mismo que antes no volvería. parece que han arruinado un buen chippy.

El peor Fish & chips que he tenido, soy un hombre de unos 60 años y católico, así que el gas fish & chips ha estado en el menú todos los viernes durante más de 60 años, incluso el fish & chips del ejército era mejor y eso era RANK & Downey's tiene la peor calidad.

Peores desventajas, no te lo hagas a ti mismo y solo ve a las aguas abajo de la marmota. La anciana de ahí es grosera, tiene la mejilla para ser rápida sobre la falta de personal cuando falta la mitad de la orden. Incluso hasta lo básico, las patatas fritas están clasificadas y el pescado está mal cocinado o se ha dejado fuera demasiado tiempo y seco. Qué pena realmente como 2 minutos de mi casa, pero preferiría tomar los 5 minutos para ir junto a Seaham y obtener comida que es realmente agradable.

La anciana era grosera y consiguió 2 patatas fritas grandes y salchicha por 15 libras. Básicamente no había patatas fritas en la caja y la salchicha gigante parecía la mitad. El servicio también era malo.

Went to Downeys at the Barnes a Family meal fish n chips, sausage n chips two kids meals two tubs of gravy all put in a plastic bag, got home hardly any chips cost nearly £30. Half the menu they did not have. Last Time we go there they. Did not know rationing had restarted. The thing is one chap she knew got just chips he could not close his box as it was so full she must of gave him ours.

This used to be one of the best fish and chips in Sunderland. However this is no longer the case. Thin piece of fish, which was dry, due to over cooking. Chips were tasteless. The only redeeming feature were the mushy peas. Sorry Downey’s. Won’t be visiting again. No longer a good experience. Completely down the pan.

Fish ok but the quality and amount of chips was disgraceful for the price !!! Used to be the best in the area but not now !!!!

Really Really Poor .Onion rings were burned to a crisp. CHIPS were stone cold. Service was terrible, avoid at all costs go to anyone else

Staff member serving was rude beyond belief! Walked out and drove to Bells in Seaham. Better fish and chips there anyway. Will not be returning to Downeys!

They`ve always been top notch , but since one of the brothers who used to run it & fry left , it was still pretty good as Danielle used to fry on occasions with the then new fryer , but a couple of month ago a new fryer started , batter on fish was soggy and chips were poor . My wife went in on the 20th after not being there for a few weeks and might i add i was a regular every week , the chips were rubbish had i not opened them before going home i would have took them back . So come on get it sorted and get back to your normal Quality food . I believe the brother who left due to back & knee problems now goes round keeping check , well let`s hope he reads this and get it sorted , he`ll know who i am i think .

Massively overpriced and not worth a penny of it. All hard chips and I really should have taken them back as I parked up to eat them. They never put salt and vinegar on them and when I went back the woman was sour faced. Terrible place, avoid!!

I love good fish and chips, what I received can’t even be described as poor. Dry, extremely thin fish portions, chips that were rock hard and bone dry inside. For the price (I know the ingredients have increased in price) there should be a lot more effort put into getting the end result right and the service improved. A highly anticipated chippy tea turned into a massive disappointment. We won’t be going again.

This place is a joke !!! We never get what we order !!!! Will never go back…..The person who served us seemed as though she didn’t want to be there. What happened to good customer service ???

Are Downeys Flash frying now, never had such an anaemic fish lot. Skin wasn't cooked still wet, and chips were white, never again going to the Barnes chippy.

Use this fish and chip shop regularly. Great service Very pleasant staff Competitive pricing Great food

Was here yesterday for tea as couldn’t be bothered to cook hubby had large cod and chips I had half and half which is small cod and linguistines they were delicious one bag of chips between two is enough as you get loads staff are lovely and friendly and they are sticking to the Covid rules will be back

Hubby was here last night for large cod and chips it was huge and cooked to perfection he asked for batter which they kindly obliged the staff are lovely and friendly will definitely go back again

Hubby and I went here for tea, usually get lovely food. However, not on this occasion! Cold food, and they have cut back on the portions certainly not on their prices.! Will look to go somewhere else in future. Very disappointed

Was here Friday for our supper to take home I had fish bites which were lovely chunks of white fish hubby had large cod which was spilling over edge of box I asked for batter and was given loads was delicious staff are lovely and friendly will be back

Was her on Saturday tea time for fish and chips it’s made fresh to order and worth the wait I like lots of batter and the staff are lovely and friendly and piled up the batter mmmm delicious

This is a great chip shop where everything is cooked to order and always fresh. We go here regularly, the staff are really friendly and the service is efficient. The portions are generous and they have a great range of items on offer, including healthier options. Would definitely recommend 😀

Called here Saturday for tea take away I got cod and chips for hubby and I had scampi and chips it was all cooked fresh and big portions also a portion of tartare sauce staff are friendly and helpful
