Double Dragon Cantonese Restaurant in Blaby

We went in for a takeaway - food was ready within 10 minutes - the taste was bland and the and the food was overcooked. Won’t be returning.

Always ALWAYS check what they are delivering is what you expect to receive. Could be something minor but it all adds up quickly

Possibly one of the worst take aways ever. A few people have given this place the thumbs up, i unfortunately am not one of those. Chicken Chow Mein - As bland as. Sweet & Sour Chicken - The batter was soggy and thick. Chicken Satay - Had mushrooms in it. Salt and chili chips - Cold and no chili. Curry sauce - More like a salt sauce. And £35 to boot. Rubbish, will end up in the bin. Both Blaby and Whetstone are better, in my humble opinion.

The standard of the food was really good, probably some of the tastiest from a small place I've had in a long time. The small seating area was cozy enough for a few tables, The staff seemed friendly.

Ordered from here tonight, food came in under one hour. Chicken balls way too salty, made my tongue feel funny after just one bite. The curry sauce tasted too potent & the shrimp tasted like swamp. Rice was cold. Spring rolls were really nice but i definitely won’t order from there again. Usually like the food but Florence the lady in store was very rude & refused to accept the food wasn’t edible. Told me not to buy from them again & refused to even apologise let alone compensate.

Excellent food and service. All clean and lovely. We ate in, but there was a constant stream of people collecting take aways. Lacked lustre dinning room. But food perfect. Service perfect.

Nice place, a little bit chilly but not enough to really bother anyone. Only had to wait about 10 minutes for our food, which they maybe went a little overboard with the salt on, but still delicious. Staff were friendly and helpful and good choice of food on the menu. Overall good experience.

The restaurant is our go to place for a takeaway but last night we decided to dine at the restaurant for a change, the food was absolutely sensational, the chilli salt and pepper king prawns are incredible. 10/10

The new prices are far too expensive for us to order from here on a regular basis. It's a shame as we were regular customers but the recent price increase will see us seek an alternative.

Order placed at 17:55 we were told it would be within the hour, which was fine as busy usually means popular for a reason... Just before the 2 hour point, we called to chase up our order. The word "sorry" was very briefly mentioned, just... but without any shred of sincerity or empathya and with no explanation as to why - not good customer service. 2 hours and 20 minutes after the order was placed , the food did arrive but was barely warm, the chicken in particular was cold. I can forgive an unexpected busy night but not lack of value to customers. Business must be good to be so flippant about customers waiting over 2 hours for food promised within the hour. It's a shame because the food seemed like it could have been really good.

Fantastic take away food, and at a reasonable price. Always very friendly and quick.

Ordered a takeaway. Told 1hr for collection. Got there another 20mins. Went back another 10mins which turned into 20mins. Another takeaway taking more orders than they can handle. Shoddy.

This Chinese is brilliant but the crispy chips that are too crispy are such a let down, they are so over fried my son can’t eat them, this is every-time I order they are the same. I will be taking my business elsewhere

Ordered a take away on Sunday 3rd July 2022. Ordered at 17.30 meal arrived 19.00hrs, the meal was cold the crispy chicken was not crispy, a total let down Would think twice before we order again Dissapointing as it used to be a good place to order a take away from.

Had our first Takeaway from Double Dragon tonight. I can fully recommend giving them a try. Food was Amazing, piping hot and very very Tasty.

This is my go to place for Chinese food and is easily the best in the area. All food is fresh and tasty and the staff are lovely. I honestly can't recommend this place enough!

Decided to eat in the restaurant to save washing up, at which point they doubled the price!! What a dump, doesn’t even look like a restaurant, crap service, £81 for 2 adults one teenager. Awful.

Best Chinese in our area in my opinion. Yes sometimes you might need to wait a bit for delivery but it's so busy because it's so good.

Having ordered a Sweet and sour Cantonese style takeaway. I had to knock on the door and wait for some one to answer. A couple of minutes later asked for my name and door closed in front of me. No access to customers here. Another five minutes later, out in the cold , handed my meal. This obviously had been made on the hop, as the sweet and sour sauce certainly wasn't the Cantonese sauce. The peppers and onions had been dropped in at the last minute and were still raw. I subsequently found out about their 1 in 5 hygiene standard. I won't be going back there

Had a meal delivered was very disappointed the meal was cold on arrival & we had to warm it up so we could eat it there was no apology at all.

Stay clear! Listen to the 1star reviews! They are here for a reason! Delivery arrive wrong order, called to notify lady was completely unsympathetic told next it will be right. Also rice was mushy and cold chips refried!

Solo visit (on business) to this, ‘off the beaten track’ restaurant. Pleasant and accommodating staff in a quaint, but friendly, setting. An abundance of tables with ‘spinney’ things in their centre which is great if there are many of you sharing your choices. Crab & sweetcorn soup for starters was both plentiful and good, but piping hot which made it initially hard to eat. King Prawns (8 off)with garlic and black beans on a sizzling platter with crunchy red and green peppers and fried rice were very good. Small forks, small plates (you’ll see what I mean if you visit here) with big taste is a winning combination. Well worth finding if you can!

1.This place seriously needs decorating cobwebs & dust everywhere. 2. Overpriced for the basic food you receive. 3. They have a vent that blows cold all over you and your food. 4. Cutlery was dirty. Wont be returning. 5. Staff was friendly enough.

I have never eaten in house but always use for takeaway despite it being a 5 mile round drive. There is a local takeaway within walking distance but Double Dragon is much better.

Best Chinese place I've ever been to. As a veggie I find there's not a lot of choice or the flavour isn't there but this place never fail. I love it and would 100% recommend.

Since they stopped Sunday night buffet it is very expensive. Very quiet atmosphere

A little bit pricier than the takeaways in South Wigston, standard is good though. House special curry very tasty, sauce not too hot but plenty of flavour. Chips are good, and popular with my kids, as is the chicken fried rice with my wife.

Lovely hidden treasure in the middle of blaby with beautiful food

Went to this restaurant this evening service absolutely appalling went for special family occasion. It took an hour for starters to arrive and when it did was missing pancakes for duck. Asked waitress if we could have a main dish for our kids who were starving at this point plate of noodles arrived and that was it. No apologies just an explanation a chef was off sick carry out service was ringing all night whilst we were there and cleArly taking priority over restaurant clients this place needs to decide if it is restaurant or take away and stick to one. We left after one course as waiting too long they were still taking poor unsuspecting clients into restaurant!!!! Greedy ridiculous state of affairs highly unrecommended!!!! Worst Chinese restaurant we have ever been too!!!!

Really good food again. A group of7 of us again trying another wide selection of dishes for a change. We effectively ordered meals for 5 but it was still way too much for us all to eat, but we did as it was so tasty. Nice wine too and service good too. It is becoming a regular haunt for birthday meals out.

Only use the Resturant a handful of times a year but are never disappointed. We had the the diamond banquet for 4 people and everything was brilliant and plentiful. The highlight being the duck pancakes as always. Staff are always friendly and helpful.

Not sure what's going on here? Where is the consistency? Some times you get a take away and it's amazing. Other times it's gross. I've not eaten in the restaurant for a while, but I like to get a takeaway or a delivery about once every six weeks. The latest takeaway made me write this review. Food was late. It wasn't even delivered, I went and picked it up, and it was late! Parts of the meal were red hot, and others were barely warm. Makes for an unpleasant eating experience. They do tofu on the menu, but don't do a tofu chow mein, because "they don't mix them things". What a weird thing to say to a customer that wants to give you money. I'll be back because I'm a degenerate, but I really should try somewhere new.

I have been frequenting this establishment for a good number of years now, and it pains me to say that on my last couple of visits here it seems to be on a decline.

Been using Double Dragon Chinese for some time now and sometimes the food is really good and sometimes it is ok but tonight, it was vile. Not only did it take time to get through to them but when we were eating it, the chicken was cold and the chips smelt like s**t!! Not good at all

4 of us went for a meal Monday evening....only ones in the restaurant! Food was nice but everything seems a little dated in there from the tatty menus to the plastic tablecloths. The restaurant was cold....no radiators on. Seemed to be only one person taking the orders, serving the food and answering the phone for take-away. Waitress was slow to notice we had finished eating and never came back to offer desserts (however i'm unsure if the Cantonese are big on desserts) and didn't return to ask us at any point if the food was ok. After half an hour we eventually had to ask for the bill. Probably best as a take-away service although reading some of the other reviews this may take a while!

The foods nice however the delivery is always significantly later than promised the final straw was an order taking 2:30 mins to arrive. I rang and didn’t even receive an apology!

First time I've been tonight for my daughters birthday... Definite A*service ..food was good..advice to anyone having the set meals a meal for 2 could actually feed 3/4 people. 😊..i'd definitely go again 👍

We booked a table for a Saturday evening. The restaurant was quite quiet and we were seated quickly. The staff were pleasant - sticky plastic table cloths were not. We ordered the platinum set menu and I have to say that the starters and Peking duck were lovely. However our main course did not appear before we finally gave up and left. They are obviously so busy on a Saturday with takeaway orders that the restaurant is way down the bottom of the list. They need to decide their priorities but the restaurant is definitely second fiddle both in service and ambience.

Poor food very expensive not a place to go

I tend to get takeaway from here, though the resturant is just a good. Great food and nice friendly staff. Always happy to change a dish is you don't like certain meat or veg or offer a different sauce. They have a small bar area so you can have a drink while you wait for your food to be cooked. There is a large carpark located right next to the restaurant so parking isn't a problem either.

Well went to the restaurant for a meal & at first were a little put back as the restaurant was a little low key with plastic table clothes on the tables & wot look like school chairs however the staff were great friendly & funney + great service but the main excitement was the food great test & plenty of it .
