Double Dragon in Isle of Wight

What a con…. Spent nearly £65 at this place and the portions are an absolute joke. Stupidly small! Barely fed 3 of us, let alone 5. We ordered a take away which we came back for as it took 45 minutes. Wouldn’t have even minded that, but to spend all that money just to have to cook more food because they serve such poor size portions is really bad. Value for money is zero! Mark up on food here is shocking!!

Ordered food and was warned that it would take 40 minutes. It took 35 minutes longer than that. Got home to taste 2 of the 3 dishes which were inedible. Portions are comically small and I was refused any form of compensation after requesting one and giving feedback. Imagine your cuisine being beaten by a Pot Noodle. Tragic. Would not commend.

Very watery sauces as per previous reviews! Hoisin sauce was like water! They must buy this in and dilute it! Mediocrity

Very poor dishes. The sauces in all the food we purchased were watered down, beyond belief. The only positive, was the young person serving being really polite and helpful. I would never go back there👎

Been going to jacks for years still the best Chinese I’ve ever had. Affordable, fresh food, not too greacy.

Normally go to the other Chinese but they were closed today so decided to try these, absolute waste of money, everything was so bland absolutely no flavour or spice in anything very disappointed will go back to our usual!

Portions really small compared to the main land I get near on double what you offer in my local Chinese Prawns were ok that's the only thing to salvage here

For our part, food always good and delivery service has been reliable on the few occasions we've asked for delivery.

My appetite is finally coming back and I just fancied a take away. Last time I had one a few years ago it was not good but last night food was really tasty, not greasy, just delicious, also the young lady who took the order was very helpful and pleasant

The food is Delicious 😋🤤 and has THE BEST sweet and sour chicken balls I've ever tasted. Nicely decorated. Comfy chair to sit on while waiting for food . Staff very friendly. 5 stars ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐. Very Underrated. Only bad thing is closes earlyish even on weekends - 9 or 10:30 pm .

Great food, best takeaway in West wight.

We've had 2 meals from this restarant. The firsr was okay but the portions of curry sauce are unbelievably small. Then approx 5 weeks ago I had sweet and sour chicken balls which was dire. The chicken was slimy and tasteless as if undercooked. Never again was a complete waste of money.

Salted & Peppered Pork Spare Ribs were delicious. Veggies in the dishes were crunchy and not overcooked. Fried rice was chock full of prawns, chicken and BBQ pork. Very happy.

Rank! Chicken balls were raw after them being recommended as one of their best dishes by staff! The noodles were swimming in oil! The rice was alright though. But overall the worst Chinese iv ever had in my entire life! Lusang in Bembridge is top knotch though and well worth the 40 minute drive.

Distinctly average, Customer service ok but could improve,

We are on holiday in the IoW and we had a delivery last night great service on time. Food was average very small portions and the 1/4 of crispy duck was awful it had been pre shredded well I say shredded cut up there was nothing crispy about it very fatty and the edible portion was minimal I just about scraped 3 pancakes usually at home a quarter feeds 6 pancakes and some leftover for my son to have just the meat. Overall really disappointed.

So bland and oily. Ordered Kung po , it’s supposed to have a bit of spice . It had no sauce just oily and no taste . Schzuan was a very thin bland sauce . Noodles didn’t seem to have any soy sauce in just oil . Small portions and disappointing

I have used double dragon for many years, consistently good Chinese, reasonable pricing and many different dish options. I would rate it as the best Chinese in the area in my opinion. Free delivery when exceeding minimum order.

On holiday at the bay colwell 30 minutes wait as expected delivery to are accommodation food better than expected not that expensive over all really good

Appalling Spring rolls oozed grease The noodles on the chow mien were burnt The crispy shredded beef, were lumps of flavourless dry meat The satay was a curry soup

The local area has two Chinese takeaways so we used the Double Dragon as it was cheaper. Not being a local the only real criticism was finding a legal parking spot so we could collect. We failed so ended up on a yellow line. The meal was tasty and hard to fault and of ample proportions. We would use again.

Very slow at serving if you don’t mind waiting a life time then this is the place for you

The most tasteless Chinese food I've ever tasted and I've had some bad ones. Staff were lovely but every dish we ordered were greasy and in watery sauce. Absolutely awful!

A well established takeaway, which has been very popular in the village for decades. Jak and his family have maintained the standard of their meals. If you live locally, you have the option of a delivery service. Their delivery service is very busy Thursday, Friday, and Saturday early evenings, so be prepared to wait. However, they will give you an estimated time. It's better if you order and collect from the establishment early evenings at weekends.

The Double Dragon did go down hill a couple of years ago, and we stopped using them. However after the disgusting meal we had from another local take away, we decided to give it another chance. I am pleased to say they have got their act together. Food delivered on time, hot and fresh. Cooked well, and tasty. People who read my reviews will know I am critical of poor food or service. I recommend the Double Dragon. We use then often now and will continue to do so, as long as they maintain the high standards they have now.

Despite the negative reviews, thought we’d give them a chance… pfft! Never again! 👎 out of 7 people ordered for only 3 got their food. We had 4 dishes that weren’t what was ordered and 2 items ordered that were missing. when I called to discuss the girl on the phone blamed signal and was unable to offer a solution. The food that did arrive was not great! Really overly greasy and flavourless. Needless to say, we will not be using them again and should have taken notice of other reviews.

I highly recommend. Lovely food and friendly service. No lengthly waiting and reasonable prices. Curry could be spicier.

Jack is super friendly, was able to get food in 30 minutes. Had a gentle walk down from home to collect. Food was really nice, everything seemed to be just right. Not too greesy not to dry. Very favourable. Enjoyed all. We had chips, egg fried rice, vegetable fried rice, Singapore noodles, vegetables fried noodles, spring rolls, samosas and curry sauce. It was really nice to receive complimentary/accidental prawn crackers too. Made a perfect stay in evening hassle free. This was share between 3 people.

Good service but extremely poor food. The Thai food seemed to be made from paste, noodles were ok but bland and quickly re-fried, best thing were the spring rolls but they were not made by them. Until most of the Chinese/Thai food is freshly made then I wouldn't go again. Pre-prepared food is similar to going to a store.

Just ordered a second take away from here this week whilst on holiday. However this evening the special fried rice was inediable.....it absolutely smelt horrific as soon as we removed the carton lid, some of the ingredients has definitely gone off....assuming the prawns. 🤢 i called the restaurant to alert them of this and they tried to persuade me that this is normal and fine to eat!? I told them i could not even contemplate consuming something that reeks of a landfill site and the

Always good food and Jack is very friendly and caring. Never had a bad meal from Double Dragon in 10 years. Delivery service brilliant. Highly recommended.

Ordered king prawns with mushrooms, very tasteless, pancake roll....soggy,, beef in black bean sauce ok, not a very good chinese, will never bother to order from them again, what a disappointment, wish I had read TA first!

Ordered 18.15, told collection at 19.00. Turned up got told to come back, went back, order not ready, ready at 20.15. Lukewarm food, chicken schezwan usually from any Chinese restaurant a spicy dark dish, this one pale, no spice, no flavour... bland and dull. Char shui in a watery sauce lacking flavour and bulked out with beansprouts? Never had that before, hardly any meat. Just shocking, I ate some of the chips. Will never darken their door again. 2 hour wait for lacklustre food, rubbish. I'm going to be having a cheese sandwich for my new year's eve dinner. Cheers.

Shockingly bad, 2 hour wait for a collection when told it was going to be 45 minutes. When food finally arrives for collection it was lukewarm, bland and tasteless. The worst chicken schezwan I've ever had, char shui in watery sauce full of beansprouts to bulk it out. Only thin decent were the chips. Very friendly staff, the food is nice and serve time is fast. They offer delivery as well.

They obviously cannot cope with demand but still take your money. 2hrs late delivering and unable to call as they had turned the phone off. Just be honest and not greedy. I went in and got a refund as not even started my order. Avoid.

Decided to try Chinese as a bit of a change to the usual “pub fayre” we’d had for a few nights. Very pleasantly surprised with a really fresh, tasty well cooked meal. We had King Prawn noodles and Chicken with Black bean with green peppers and we loved them. It took only 20 minutes and they were pretty busy......felt sorry for the young girl behind the counter who was taking both phone orders and the walk ins....well done.

The place was closed the first time I visited. Did not reply to my email re opening times. Rang last Thursday, was open. Ordered food £25.4! Sweet and sour chicken was soggy full of grease, normally I have had this in a crispy batter! The beef was not what I ordered, but as it didn’t arrive until after 9pm it was too late to do anything. Will vote with my feet and not use again! Worst Chinese I’ve ever had.

Absolutely trash, paid £6.60 for a dried up over cooked bin food, the mains we had were bland and not worth the money we paid, money well thrown away, so be warned!!!

We tried this after the other Chinese in Totland couldnt deliver for a long time for being very busy. No problem move on....so we found Double Dragon. If you read the most recent reviews you’d not order from here but we decided to make up our own minds! And I’m glad we did Food was tasty hot and delivered when promised. The sweet and sour chicken and rice I had was very nice the OH’s egg foo yung received a very good reception Thanks very much for recovering our Saturday night

Wish I’d come online to check the reviews before ordering. Absolutely awful, just about edible. Lots of onion, pepper and lumps of tomato in dishes bulking them out. We ordered king prawn house special, there was 6 king prawns in the whole dish. The Singapore rice noodles were sloppy. Waste of £42.

This was the worst takeaway ever. Took an hour and a half to arrive. It was cold. After re-heating it was a greasy soggy mess. Totally inedible. Asked for refund and the owner and staff were rude and abusive. Still waiting for refund. !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! DONT WASTE YOUR MONEY IN THIS TAKEAWAY

Meal was an absolute joke. We ordered the following, comments by the side-Mixed starter - ribs very dry, spring roles were crunchy and chicken satay, dry, chewy and burnt, prawn toast curled up, all coldShrimp chow main - cold and tasted odd, my husband likes small shrimps but these were prawns, horridChilli crispy beef, not crispy and Luke warmEgg fried rice - clumpy as if heated from frozen and lukewarmDuck and pancakes this was the only dish that was good.We ordered for 1800 and got there at 1755 and finally left at 1815My husband called to complain and spoke to Jack ( sounded like Jeff) and went through our food, did not sound sincere as he said he would try better. Told us it is only a take away and not a restaurant but thanked us for our feedback and then hung up.Will not be back, what a dreadful experience and then not to be taken seriously

Waited Two hours for my order, which is fine, I understand the business may be busy at times. However, I then arrive at the establishments to collect my order to be disappointed! They had lost my order! They said I would have to re-order and then wait again!Not impressed! In fact, it really buggered up our evening.

Lovely food nice people great prices

This Chinese takeaway has been here for years. Somethings here are fantastic others reminds me of a 1980s Chinese!! The portions are very small so an adult could easily eat two mains. And for the price it’s poor when other takeaways are the same price but you get better portions and quality. All in all it’s great for a hangover!!

We ordered chicken satay, chicken with ginger and both were very tasty . My ten year old loved his chicken chow mein too and it came half an hour earlier. we would so recommend this restaurant and would use again when in this part of the world.

Good food in the typical style available that is Chinese style. Very reasonable prices. Our order took just slightly longer than expected but understandable considering the situation at the time. Parking nearby isn't easy so best find a place nearby and take a little walk.

Worst Chinese ever. Greasy, way too much colouring etc in sauces. Couldn't eat it.

Order our food turned up wrong and cold and chips looked like yesterday, duck in plum sauce Wasn't duck in plum sauce and special fried rice with no meet just onion took it back and the manger Jack was so rude and put it back in our face and said can't we read the menu, wft no refund and he didn't care.. Will never eat there again.. Bad from start to finish!!!!!!!!

I live in Southend-on-sea where we have the best Chinese takeaway restaurant ever, so I was at a slight disadvantage ordering from Double Dragon whilst we were on holiday in nearby Yarmouth, I ordered something similar to what my wife and I usually order locally and was surprised to hear that the price was considerably more than we usually pay. Still, I was prepared to give them the benefit of the doubt if the food was really good. Unfortunately the food was anything but really good. My wife's chicken with ginger and spring onions was slimey and the sweet and sour chicken balls were revolting. I had one bite and was nearly sick. The centre which should be beautiful cooked chicken was a messy pulp of something or other - not sure what but not really related to cooked chicken. When we got back to our house, I put them in the microwave for 5 minutes and they were still not cooked. The piece de resistance was the fact that when we opened our bag full of anticipation, they had not even put the rice in that we ordered.This was a disastous experience and I don't know how they keep any custom at all. they certainly won't be getting mine again!

Best Chinese food in the area by far, we were staying at Totland Bay just a short drive away (no more than 5 minutes) the place we were staying recommend Double Dragon when we asked them if there was a Chinese takeaway nearby, glad they did as I to would recommend it, the staff are very friendly and the food was great, and good value for money. I believe they can deliver too, but we chose to collect our food.

Never answer the phone, are always out of half of their menu, food is always under-cooked, portions are way smaller than anywhere else and they tell you they're closed half an hour before they actually close so they don't need to make an effort. Just go to Sunbo.

I am a pescatarian so I only eat fish. I ordered the prawn fried noodle dish to be delivered and was half way through eating it when I realised it had pieces of beef in too. I am very disappointed that I unknowingly ate meat and will not be returning again.

Odd combination of dishes on the set menu for 2. More rice would have been good. No complimentary prawn crackers was disappointing, especially considering price. However, order ready for collection promptly and staff helpful on the telephone. Also positively - didn’t feel as unhealthy as some Chinese takeaways.

Rang up to order our food was told it would be about 30-40 mins after 50 mins I rang again to see what was happening. The person that answered the phone said they’d check, they came back and said it would go on the next delivery and I asked how long would that be? I was told 10-20 mins, I then said I was told it would be 30-40 mins originally. The answer I got was “uh hu “ which I found rather rude. I got a phone call about 20 mins later and it was the delivery driver who said he’d be about 2 mins, which he was. I met him and said I was sorry that I wouldn’t be given a tip as I’d waited over 80 mins for my food, he said “oh that’s about normal” and I said well I was told “it would be 40 mins” his response left me lost for words. He replied with” well it’s not a precise science” and then left. Fair to say I wouldn’t recommend this for food or will I return there myself.

The best in the West Wight, we always use Double Dragon. Have tried all the others but none can compete in my opinion. The food tastes great and very prompt delivery 99% of the time and we have used them a lot.

Lovely staff and really quick service. I always come to double dragon as I know to expect the best, I am never disappointed and would definitely recommend it to anyone visiting the west side of the island.

Ok so to start, Delivery was quick and it arrived within 40 mins on a Friday night peak time. The price was ok for what we ordered. Unfortunately the food was terrible! I have never never satay chicken like this ever! So so bland and in a strange watery sauce. Chicken balls dripping with grease. It all had the weirdest taste and so so bland. Please don’t waste your money!

Ordered sweet and sour pork balls to be delivered. Received a large portion 😁. However, the balls were full of grissle with little pork meat. The little meat that was there was under cooked and still pink. Phoned up and complained. They were apologetic and we agreed to a refund which didn't materialise 🙁

Had to wait over an hour after agreed delivery time. When phoned into ask where was told didnt know! Food was luke warm so had to re- heat. Wont be going back

Absolutely disgusted I placed an order for delivery I was told it will be an hour hour past nd still no food I tried calling but no answer two hrs later I got through to them I requested to speak to the manager I heard the manager say he was too busy just after I put the phone down our food arrived we didn't get an apology or anything. We have had a few take aways from the Double Dragon and have the food is alway consistency delicious. The only issue is, get your order in early as people had to wait two hours for deliveries in some cases and I waited an hour and I went to pick up. But the food is good and I think its reasonably priced.

We had been for a quick drink that turned out to be rather longer, and by the time we were headed home were very hungry. We passed this takeaway and on impulse went in an ordered. Had chicken and sweetcorn soup which was ghastly. Obviousle reheated, thick and tasteless. The mixed starter was poor and very small. The sweet and sour was bright red and looked radioactive. I hate to think what made it that colour. The beef was inedible, cooked and recooked in thin strips with a batter coating and tasted awful. No redeeming features, definitely will not return.

The dry food was good (spring rolls, pork balls etc) but anything in a sauce was flavourless and left a film in my mouth.
