What a little gem of a place with a unique style all of it's own!!! As a group of 8 we were made to feel very welcome with tables moved around to accommodate us. The staff were so friendly and served us with a scrumptious selection of cakes, soups and crumpets all washed down with generous mugs of coffee and proper tea!!!! Lovely!!

The most wonderful friendly welcome. The tearoom is quirky and lovely - and dog friendly. Tables outside at the front so we could sit and watch the world go by. We had excellent bacon rolls, and we were given a back of treats for our dog. The hot chocolate and coffee were great - the overall experience was so warm and lovely - we'd recommend a visit to everyone.

We stopped for a pot of decaff tea and an americano, the tea was lovely and strong and served in a China tea pot with a cup and saucer, a shortbread biscuit was provided on the side. A very generous amount of milk in a jug also provided. The service was prompt, polite and welcoming, a most enjoyable experience. My only complaint would be overhearing other tables being asked to pay after they had had consumed their refreshments and we were asked to pay as we ordered, was this due to our southern accents? Perhaps a coincidence!

We stayed in staithes for a week commencing 10th August and came in Dotty's for 5 out of 7 mornings for coffee, cake or toasties. The kids had chocolate milkshakes or full on hot chocolate and we had tea or coffee, all were lovely. Cheese toasties, bacon rolls and cakes were enjoyed at varying points over our week. the only reason we didn't call in on our last morning was because they didn't open until 1030 and we wanted to be on the road by 11! We are coming back to Staithes next year and are hoping it is still there as I understand it has been put up for sale .

Lovely cafe in Staithes, full of character, plenty of choice of food and very friendly staff. My wife and I each had a toastie, which are served with salad and crisps, and there was a lot to eat. On a not very pleasant day last week we called in at Dotty's for a hot drink and cake. We were greeted warmly and invited in. It is a very interesting place - somewhere you can sit with your drink/cake and just look around your surroundings for ages. The coffee and tea were great. The Victoria sponge was one of the best my wife has had. We will certainly visit again the next time we are in the area.

We loved it!! The Victoria sponge was exceptional. Lovely, friendly staff and a nice atmosphere on the most horrendous of wet days. Okay…we waited a bit for our treats - but there was a notice up to explain short staffing and training. If the training turns out staff like this then happy days 👍 PS: To ‘The Owner’ who we bumped into in the horrendous rain with her lovely Romanian rescue pooch and who asked us, ‘What’s it like’ when we said we were heading towards her place…the answer is ‘top notch’. You should be proud!!!

Fantastic place! Make it a stop on your visit. Great Coffee and food, but the atmosphere, friendliness and feel of the place is worth popping in. Starbucks/ Costa ... they're a bit sterile, but this wonderful example of an old style tea room will make a stop for refreshment something you'll remember as part of your day. The staff are super busy, and it's informal, so if you need your skinny latte in 25 seconds, and will be tapping the table... keep walking. Order your items and sit and enjoy the surroundings, take a moment to actually enjoy the time with the person you went in with. Trudy has built a fantastic hard working team, I love her work ethic ('grafter', doesn't do her or them justice!)

We had the Mackerel Pate and the Bacon Brie and Cranberrie Toastie and both were delicious. The tables were full (only outdoors open at present), so we got take-away - very practical box for the Pate and toast (choice of white or granery), and a good foil packet for the toastie (same choice), kept it warm while we made out way up the steps to the seats above to town for a great lunch with the best view.ALSO the lady serving (Dotty I presume) was so helpful regarding my wife's lost jumper. We asked in every shop, but she was the only one that told us about teh community hub and posted a request on it for us in case anyone had found it. We stopped at Dotty's Vintage Tearoom on bank holiday Saturday and was fortunate to get a table - only seating is outside and the space not huge! The lady - possibly Dotty - who served us was perfunctory. We ordered cakes and scone and hot drinks. The cakes were a bit overly sweet and the scone not warm and a little on the dry side. Drinks were fine enough but still served in take-away disposables. Given the lack of options in Staithes, I am sure they do very well, and it would be nice to return when we can sit inside and soak up the purported atmosphere. I am sure that this will add to the experience. Have we had better? Yes, but it wasn't so bad to stop us returning. We'd just be more careful in our selections.

Staithes was a delight. Far less crowded than the vastly overrated Robin hood bay near whitby in my opinion. It's a charming little harbour village and Dottys is typical of the friendly welcome here. A small roadside cafe essentially but the staff are a delight and the method of service to cope with our current madness is efficient, hygienic yet charmingly casual. Now I'm not talking haute cuisine here, it is what it is. But unlike the nondescript cafes other so called visitor spots, Dottys provides good quality food, charmingly served at a great price. Well done Dotty. Many thanks for reading. Andrew M

After hearing how beautiful Staithes was myself and my family decided to visit for the day. We parked at the top carpark and walked down to the harbour but as we got there apart from a busy pub right on the front there was really nothing else to see or do. We walked back the whole 10 foot to the very small main street which had 1 pub, an art gallery which had a random old man playing an organ with a hippy type person singing badly and what could be described as a wooden shack kind of cafe with a wooden deck with 3 old cable drums for tables . There was a hatch no more than 12 inches wide that you had to place your order through but the queue to order was so close to a table the social distancing was none excistent.Thank goodness we only had a coffee as a family ordered bacon sandwhiches and it didnt looked cooked. The tables were absolutley filthy and the decking looked like it hadnt been swept or washed in years plus the coffee when it came was awful.Covid or not it should have been cleaned?

What a poor excuse for a Street side cafe. Can't believe that during covid restrictions that this place is still open. No one way system to order, everybody ordering is on top of customers sitting outside. Tables & chairs are not being cleaned between customers, and I mean not at all. Served through an hatch were no one can see you or your ignored ( eventually after a 10 minute wait). Bacon sandwich was mainly all bread. £3.50. Crumpet(s) £1.85 for ONE crumpet with jam??A coffee that was weak and too milky. We asked to make a bit stronger. They charge £0.30 extra. For a coffee to be normal. Outrageous. I think they don’t get a lot of repeat custom. And won’t be getting mine for the remainder of this week. An over familiar owner who’s main concern is the public using her bins to dispose of rubbish. They need to focus on value for money and service.

We were staying in Staithes on a three night breakaway, Dotty's Teamroom was recommended to us and I'm so pleased it was !! Lovely little place, quiet quirky and nice tables with tablecloths sort of an old fashioned feel to it. I loved the teapot and cups that were used for our pot of tea for two, not matching but that all added to the feel of the place. Nice friendly service, we decided to share a scone with cream and jam, really good size !! We noticed when going for a short walk in the evening that when we passed Dotty's there was a box outside with leftover scones from the day with a sign saying £2 for four Scones !! What a brilliant idea, we got two cheese/two fruit scones in a pack, instead of food waste you are given the opportunity to buy them and leave your money in the box. Definitely would recommend Dotty's and we will be returning later on in the year.

Popped in to Dotties -being one of the few places open in Staithes for coffee on a cold January morning. We were so pleased we made this choice! The staff are most welcoming and good fun; the scones were simply delicious and the coffee was perfect. The decor is a slightly wacky - but we loved it!

Visited Staithes between Christmas and New Year and called in here so pleased we did. Amazing quirky atmosphere and such a friendly welcome for everyone. Great selection of cakes and scones and our Border Terrier couldn’t wait to return two days later for his selection of dog biscuits. We had walked part of the Cleveland Way and worked up an appetite, really enjoyed the toasted sandwiches. Didn’t want to leave, especially my hubby, who was given the iPad to choose music. Reckon he now sees himself as a DJ. Thank you ladies for your contribution in making our great holiday. Just wish we had a Dotty’s in our village

As good as ever... Everybody made to feel welcome with a warm and friendly atmosphere on the chilliest of damp days. The cakes and other goodies are irresistible. This little cafe reminds me of the film/book Chocolat ...with its wonderful feel good factor. Please don't ever change. ....And it must be good Mary Berry popped in whilst I was there (she was filming in the area). Somebody must have told her what an unmissable experience it is, to visit Dotty's

A rather eccentric cafe on the main street. More like an antique or second hand shop than a cafe, filled with bric-a-brac; some of which appears to be for sale. Very friendly staff serving standard quality coffee, though the cakes were quite good. It's very dog friendly and a couple of dog biscuits were served along with our coffee and cakes (for the dog, not us).

We have been here every year since it opened and managed twice this year. We also get scones from here on an evening from the honesty box to enjoy for tea. Would highly recommend best coffee in Staithes. A real must must must there is something for everyone and proper size slices of cake.

Our visit to the tearoom was everything I wanted it to be. The vintage style made you feel you had stepped back in time in the already wonderful village. Then you got a massive piece of the best fruit cake I have tasted with cheese to go with it and a pot of tea you could swim in .. all served in lovely china. The people serving were super friendly and the owner was happy to chat and spend time with you.

A very friendly and quirky cafe. There’s not a huge choice of food, but the food they offer is very good. We enjoyed a ham & cheese toastie and a scone with cheese and chutney. Dog friendly and a very comfortable spot to spend some time. Good wifi as there’s no signal down in Staithes.

Good food, really friendly staff, great atmosphere, and dogs welcome too. What's not to like? I had a cheese toasty and a tea, the tea came as a teapot with a generously large jug of milk.See photo. Much enjoyed! :-)))

Great cafe - great staff and comfortable, tasteful ambience. The food is good and I’d definitely recommend the pancake stack.

Second time having breakfast at The Pines for me, third for my mum and brother with whom I come on holiday to lovely Filey. I can see how the local older folk love this little cafe but you don't have to be old to appreciate its charm or indeed a good, reasonably priced English breakfast. Malcolm is a great host with his cheeky banter!

We accidently discovered this cafe while hunting around Whitby for something more "homely". The staff were very accommodating for our party of 7. They ensured we got seated and looked after us all the step of the way. The food was plentiful, tasty, and very reasonably priced. There was a good selection that suited both adults and children. If you want to avoid the mass of marauding tourists and seaguls. Take a stroll up the hill to Stokers.

We stumbled across this place whilst wandering around the old town. It’s near the swing bridge on Grape Street Small menu so we tried most of it - everything we had was great. Loved the kimchi dumplings and the sushi. The bowl of delight which I forget the name of was delicious as was the sweet chilli chicken. All freshly cooked and tasty! We will return to try what we missed!! It was very reasonably priced, friendly service and can’t recommend enough.
