The set-up in this relatively remote location (with wonderful Eilean Donan Castle within ten minutes’ walk, well worth a look) is a smallish hotel, under new management, and at the other end of the building a pub and a modest restaurant. Our dinner there was sound, if unspectacular. The beetroot falafel burger was good, the fish and chips were adequate, and the pulled pork tasty but unspectacular: all slightly expensive for what they were (£18/£19 each main dish). At £9 each, the puddings were over-priced, so we shared a chocolate brownie and a crème brulée. Unmemorable but adequate.

The restaurant is a smallish room off the busy bar, but efficiently staffed and with speedy service. I had the tomato and basil soup followed by smoked mackerel noise (both starters but ample portions) and my husband had the pulled pork burger with salad, all of which he raved about. Prices were very competitive. Would recommend.

Very crowded and the meal was in the Pub. Dining room is open for breakfast in the other building. We were seated quickly and hen it all slowed down. Drinks came and eventually some really good food. But drinks were not topped up. It was really crowded, and the bar patrons were standing making it appear worse. It was also quite noisy with so many people.

On a Monday evening there is no other choice in Dornie. The menu is a bit limited. The restaurant is essentially a side room to the bar. Plain and unfussy. The food was OK, nothing you could complain about. But nothing to get excited about. The stew was meaty and a decent size though the potato portion was a bit small. Domestic food not restaurant food. Fish and chips is always going to be just fish and chips. The prices felt a little high for simple food in a plain rural setting. I expected more from a £12 cheeseboard but it was dull. Nothing that made me say 'that was nice, what cheese was that exactly? The toffee pudding was , I guess, just as it came off the suppliers van. When my wife asked for custard rather than the offered ice cream (in October) the reply was a terse "we don't do custard". Who doesn't have custard in the cupboard? So, yes, it filled a hole but if there was any local competition I doubt this restaurant would last long.

Was recommended to eat here whilst staying in Dornie. The place has transformed from the awful reviews online. 3 had surf and turf, I had the seafood platter (look at the picture). It was the best platter I have ever eaten, and I just made it, it was fresh, plentiful and tasty. This was the best quality meal and service in our 7 night tour of Scotland.

I would like to review the food here but can’t because: We turned up and ordered our food, one of the first people to do so, sat inside in the cold and waited, waited waited and waited some more. We waited for over 45 minutes but held out because we were hungry and there isn’t much else around. When other people who turned up after us started getting their food I asked where ours was. We are just checking was the reply. Another meal for another person after us came out. Enough was enough. We left and got no real apology, just excuses as to why we didn’t get our food. How generous of them to let us off from paying for our drinks, which wouldn’t have amounted to much anyway. Do yourself a favour and find some where else. I have reviewed many places and I don’t very often give a 1 star review. If there were the option for zero stars this place would get it.

Have no idea how this place is able to big up their food and seafood….and then serve what they do on arrival! The worst meal I’ve ever had. But the fact that it was a wedding meal, I did not complain as to not offend the married couple. Pate - just tasted off. With some sort of stale bread. Seafood platter? The langoustine had hundreds of little orange eggs underneath? The rest was either not fresh or just badly cooked and ruined. Chicken and rice main course. Bland and dry and wasn’t even told what it was. Dessert was a dry chocolate cake. To top off of, one of the young female waitresses kept on hanging around the men at the tables watching the football and even sat down at the wedding meal and ate a dessert! Mind blown that this was all paid for, and I don’t think it was cheap.

We’d previously taken dinner when the chef ran the Seafood restaurant in Kyle, the move to the hotel has maintained the excellent quality of food, choice and presentation, now in a larger room. We had three courses each, with all of us selecting the monkfish main. It was delicious and moist, the mash potato side was rich and creamy. We thoroughly enjoyed the meal and the ambiance. Service was efficient and the staff were helpful and very friendly without being over officious. We were so pleased that the transition of the restaurant from the railway platform to a hotel hasn’t lost any of its special quality. We are travelling again in April next year and this rest will certainly by on our list.

The chairs were all covered with crumbs and there was rubbish on the floor. The food was very average for the price. We decided to order a starter each and share the fish platter, as the waitress advised us this would be adequate, and if we weren’t full, there was always deserts. After a short while the waitress returned and advised us to pick something else as the kitchen had run out of oysters and langoustines. I asked if they could do a reduced platter with the stock they do have, and then me and my partner would additionally share something else on the menu. After speaking with the kitchen she confirmed this was possible. The meals arrived and we were more than satisfied with the quality of the food. The issue came when we were brought the bill and the fish platter was still itemised at full price (£35 no less!). I questioned this and the woman serving nipped in to the kitchen as she was not aware of what had been arranged. When she returned she said the other items had been doubled up to compensate for the missing oysters and langoustines. I accepted this and paid, but couldn’t help but feel I had the rough end of the bargain! Why were we advised to order more if the portions would be compensated? I also looked at some of the pictures on other reviews and it doesn’t look as if the portions were doubled at all (see photo). A real shame as we were looking forward to the evening but this left us feeling a bit ripped off!

This is an excellent place focusing on seafood. I suspect previous review may reflect a different chef. The seafood is superb. I had the chowder to begin, which was the best I have had. There was a langoustine popping out the surface but below there was all sorts of goodies. The radios platter was very good. Nice and fresh and well presented from local catches. The smoked salmon was excellent and the langoustine were lovely and sweet. Desert was cranachan and was done nicely. It was difficult for dessert to come close to the seafood. Other diners choices all looked very good too.

We have visited the Waterside seafood restaurant when it was in Kyle of Lochalsh, and it was a wonderful experience. On the same trip sonme years ago we also ate at the Dornie |Hotel - not in the least memorable. This visit to the new Waterside restaurant in the Dornie hotel was excellent. The service was very good, the food was extra special, and I really liked the decor [including the Janet McRorie paintings which they brought from the old Waterside]We had squid as a starter, beautifully cooked, light and tasty, then He had the lamb shank - the meat just fell of the bone and that lamb had big legs because there was loads of meat and creamy mash with it. I had an enormous dish of langoustines, large ones with plenty of firm meat - loads of meat in the claws too! He had a Tia Maria Trifle which he raved over and I had the cheeseboard with a selection of local-ish cheeses and fruit and chutney. It was a superb meal and more than lived up to expectations.

We recently stayed in the Dornie Wigwams which is a short drive from the Dornie Hotel. After a full day of exploring Skye we decided to stop at the hotel for dinner on the way back to our wigwam. It was the only bar/restaurant open in Dornie at this time of year. The bar/restaurant is a little dated but it's cosy and the staff were lovely. We had the haggis tower to share as a starter then the chicken penne pasta and fish and chips as mains. All of our food was really tasty and good sized portions. It was good hearty pub grub which we couldn't complain about after a busy day of sight seeing. They also allow dogs which was a bonus for us. We would visit again.

I ordered a steak and ale pie. While the flavor was nice the meat was incredibly tough and hard to chew. The creme caramel was surprisingly bland.

This was a great place to stop for lunch after a long drive. Good smoked salmon, great chicken, generous servings and a welcoming atmosphere - well worth the visit.

Pour boire quelques bières (un bon choix) et avoir un repas classique mais copieux, c'est le bon endroit. Le cuistot parle un peu le français et partager une bière avec lui devant le feu de cheminée fut agréable (surtout début mars...).

Eileen Donan Castle is Scotlands best looking castle. Make sure you are there when the sun is setting as it is very good for photography. Lots of history and a vedry good museum close by. Stay in Dornie as it's a very quaint village.

We came here for late lunch after visiting Eilean Donan. Pub is a bit small and crowded but none the less the food is declious! Would definitely recommend the burger or the goulash! They serve some of the best chips around.

We stopped off for a meal with friends, the food and atmosphere were amazing. The bar was in full swing and nothing was too much trouble for the kitchen who had to put up with a bunch of picky eaters. Our waiter was a great laugh and we all felt at home. Can't wait to visit again!

We had breakfast here after spending the night in the hotel. Average food prepared well and served by an unhappy person best describes it. A return good morning should not be a labour for someone in the customer service industry and simply placing food on...

Credit where its due the food was very good (even though the sweets were very expensive!), however, one particular member of staff stood out for the wrong reasons!...the Scots describe the attitude displayed as "dour" (excuse the spelling) her being miserable, unfriendly and frankly unwelcoming....definitely in the wrong job and requiring a crash course in customer service!

Ottimo sea food platter, molto abbondante (non siamo riusciti a finirlo in due persone, avevamo preso anche un piatto di salmone e scallops di antipasto)

Service was excellent. Highly recommend the Cullen Skink and Scallops. You might need to book in season. The bar area for eating could do with a bit of a refurb though.

Had dinner here twice while staying at the hotel. We enjoyed our meal on both nights. Seafood platter was fresh and well presented, chicken in mushroom sauce very tasty. Key lime pie was also enjoyable. Service could be a liitle more attentive but in all fairness they were very busy.

We were recommended to try the Seafood Platter at the Dornie Hotel restaurant. 'Sorry,' we were informed on arrival, 'no seafood platter and no langoustines.' Disappointed, I opted for the vegetarian alternatives. Starter; baked camembert and Main; vegetable curry (with carrots, cauliflower and potatoes. The Camembert was lukewarm but I was hungry. The curry - god what a disaster! There was one piece of cauliflower and seven small roast potatoes (presumable left over from Sunday roast), floating in a sauce of chopped tomatoes, peas and chickpeas. Not a carrot in sight. Spices were equally unapparent. The rice was okay and the onion bhaji on top did slightly resemble one. The final straw was the blank look on the waitress's face when I asked for mango chutney in a desperate attempt to jolly the dish up. This is the worst review I have ever given and it is well deserved!

Personale gentile e disponibile.

We all had Sunday lunch (£22), service was good and waitress was friendly. However the Roast dinner was lukewarm, the beef was far from tender and the Yorkshire pud was clearly reheated and very greasy. The bar wasn’t able to provide many of the beers/lagers on tap. Altogether a very disappointing visit. We were here last year and I still remember The Venison I had. Clearly new management/chef. Definitely give it a miss.

No food on offer other than crisps, ice cream and a meagre offering of cake, shocked as we were there for a 1pm show and had travelled over an hour thinking we would be fine for lunch at the theatre. Staff were fine, no hint of getting things done in a timely fashion and not much interaction with customers. Decor is depressing, such a big space makes it cold and echoey. Just no atmosphere whatsoever. Very disappointed and won't be back.

Avoid this place . Poorly cooked frozen fish and staff who see you as sn inconvenience. They add a 10% service charge and offer rubbish service.
