Dolphin Fish And Chips in South Gloucestershire

I’ve been having deliveries from here for years and previously been good. Last time I ordered pizza and I think the delivery guy had it on its side as it was squashed up on the side. Today I had a pizza delivery and it tastes really bad. Some of it isn’t cooked and the bottom of the base has green mold on it. So very disappointing

Wow I can't believe how bad the food has got. I've been having food from this place for many a year. Tonight(28.06.2023),I had a Deliveroo...and it was disgusting. Kebab was meant to be large...with onion and mint sauce....came small and dry with nothing. Battered sausages were not crispy as you kind of expect. Will definitely not be using ever again

Perfect for a late evening belly-filler. chicken and lamb donner was very tasty and was nice to have it with proper chips unlike most places! Delivery via uber was very efficient

Very poor quality food I wouldn't recommend. Kebab was inedible. Service was quick but the food was disappointing

I ordered 100% chicken shish, lamb shish, kofta, chicken donor & lamb donut served with salad in pitta bread and I didn't get lamb shish, I didn't get salad, the potatoes were very full of oil, I ordered sprites and pepsi came . So the order was grade 0. I called and he replied that there is no lamb in the menu, but it is a lie. Unfortunately we could not eat the french fries (especially the children), and on the other hand we did not receive any apology in response. my job is: Head chef .............

on 8th June 2020, my partner and I were on our way home it was about 10 pm we were looking for somewhere to get something to eat that was still open we saw the Dolphin fish bar so we stopped and I went in to get some fish and chips what a mistake that was when i walked into the shop the guy behind the counter just looked at me in a way that said what are you doing here he totally ignored me for about 5 minutes talking to the other 2 guys that were wandering about behind the counter in their own language trying to look busy then he said hello and waited for me to tell him what i wanted i ordered 2 large fish and chips he then told me it would be about 15 minutes i said ok and got my bank card out to pay for the food he then said in a very loud voice CASH ONLY i am a pensioner so he obvously thought i was deaf my food came to £13.60 i handed over my money the guy took it he was wearing gloves but no mask he gave me my change and i sat down on one of the wooden chairs that were pushed into one corner of the shop I sat watching him as he continued to talk to the other 2 guys in the shop then he bent down and appeared to scoop something up from the floor or from a container on the floor and proceded to throw it into the fryer every other fish shop I have been in always tips the chips straight from the container into the fryer they don't throw it from the middle of the floor then finally my food was ready he asked if i wanted saltand vinegar i nodded and said yes then he picked up a box from the side shelf and put 2 small scoops if chips in it then he stuck his hand in the box and proceded to move the chips around with his finger still wearing the same gloves he handles the money with added the salt and vinegar then added the fish and closed the box and sorted the second box without even changing his gloves he had been handling money all night from different people then he sticks his hand in my food needless to say when we got home this food went straight in the bin so i had wasted £13.60 on something i couldnt even eat my partner said this used to be a really nice fish shop run by different people clearly their food hygene standards have slipped dramaticly since changing ownership I WOULDN'T RECCOMEND THIS SHOP TO ANYONE AND WE CERTANLY WONT BE GOING BACK THERE AGAIN.

Called in after working in the area. Standard sausage and chips but thought the chips were extremely greasy to what I normally have had hence the three stars.

Every time we visit these guys they are so lovely and full of banter. We're known as the cheesy chips people and sure enough, we love their cheesy chips. The portion sizes are decent and the price is well suited to what you get. It's definitely better to go up and get your food from the shop, but they always seem speedy when they go out on deliveries. It's also better to ring the shop directly to order if you do want delivery. All in all, friendly staff & simple good food.

Not best meal and won't be ordering again food was cold edable. But was not impressed . Nore was my partner

Fish and chips arrived wet with grease, after over an hour wait. When I called them to discuss, I was hung up on after being spoken to extremely rudely and denying that anything was wrong with my food. I would like a refund and would also advise people to avoid dolphin fish bar.

The food was absolutely horrendous and disgusting. Chips were actually floating in grease and the supposedly large cod was so small my 9 year old son ate it and was still hungry, the fish was greasy, soggy and cold. There was so much grease in the fish that the box it came in fell apart from how soggy it was !! If you want to waste your money on greasy and vile food I suggest you order from here. I'm currently making my family a meal because the £33 I just spent on inedible food ended up being given to the foxes because I won't feed my children with it. I will never order from this shop again because you apparently pay for garbage. Inedible, cold, disgusting and vile slop that is extremely overpriced and not worth the time it took me to order it. If I could give zero stars I would without hesitation

Great fish and chips, arrived earlier than expected and then I received an SMS text to say it was on it's way, oh yes, the garlic bread was not as expected and didn't taste of garlic but was just a greasy dough.

I haven't had a takeaway from Dolphin for a cpl of years, and I wasn't surprised that it hasn't changed, was still excellent food

dreadful. chips were old and soggy. the burger bun was so soggy it crumbled like a sponge. The chicken wings were abysmal, its not even fried it's some different coating. foul.

read a few bad reviews before .. had a family get together and ordered and the food was top class .. will be ordering again as was not a compaint from seven of us .. the fish was just perfect as my family members commented .. along wth all the other food.. well done guys x

Ordered food, delivery time was an hour from when ordering and then they added on an extra half hour, not to happy as had kids to feed, food was good and hot but slightly soggy. Not happy about the time it took

I ordered fish and chips, steak and kidney pie and garlic mushrooms. The chips tasted like they were fried in last week's oil... the fish was over cooked and the pie.... I wouldn't give it to my dog! I DEFINITELY won't be ordering again.

Scampi was good, chips tasted fine but the fish did not taste fresh at all....unfortunately ended up throwing it away.

Food was very unappetising and most went straight in the bin. Cornish pasty couldn't be further from the way to describe the 'pasty' we were delivered. Also ordered a cheese and onion pie and this ended up having meat in it. Very disappointed and certainly won't be visiting again

The food was fine, wasn't hot but was okay, they added an extra 20 minutes to the delivery time and took an extra 15 minutes on top, but the delivery driver said sorry and was quite polite

The food took an hour and a half when I rang up to ask they hung up on me and when my food arrived my desert being strawberry cheesecake was frozen

15 minutes late, no contact or communication from restaurant, I called up to complain and ask where my food was and the person who answered was blunt and unhelpful. All they said was "He'll be with you soon." No apology or explanation, and to be honest I was very dissapointed with the experience. I will not be ordering from them again. The food however, was alright. The cornish pasty was very tasty, just about saved the day.

Revolting, saturated in grease, chips were mushy and fell apart when you put a fork in them, batter pulpy and inedible, Donner chicken meat lots of small bits that looked like they had been scraped from the bottom of the catchment tray, covered in oil. If the oil isn't hot don't cook with it yet.

Here on holiday and have tried Chinese and Indian takeaways and this was by far the best absolutely delicious

Chips not cooked, pie was like a brick I couldn't eat it, burgers cold. It's a shame I've heard great things about them which is why we tried it. We will order again, maybe they were very busy.

Our chicken wraps were not 100% chicken (like it said on the menu), the food was cold when delivered, our chips were dried out, it wasn't even properly wrapped and the actual wrap was soggy and fell apart. Not worth the money.

The time was 1 hour from time of order then it was extended by a further 20 minutes. It was Stone cold when it arrived and didn't taste very nice. The pie was soggy, the chips were a mix of over cooked and undercooked, and the cheese burger was missing the cheese and was not very apparising

Garlic bread arrived almost cold, cheesecake was frozen so had to leave it overnight to defrost.. Chicken was nice though. Took two hours to deliver on a Sunday night....

So...sorry guys but you should sort this out! not the first time my delivery was late and food wasnt the best. I live 5mins by walk from the takeaway and delivery took 1.5hrs on tuesday night. That was only 1 half pounder burger and pizza, pizza had too much cheese and wasnt that crispy and too fatyy, chips were soggy and dry. Wont ever order again that was the last time. Good luck

After being pushed back by 30 mins the delivery was another 20 mins late. I can only assume that the driver drove to Newport for a shortcut as my food was freezing! Very disappointed would not order from them again

Was over an hour later than the orginal delivery estimate, and 40 minutes later than the revised delivery time. otherwise the food was good as usual.

we usually love this takeaway, however our meal tonight wasn't very good, my chicken was under cooked, the wedges were no where near as nice as they usually are and my daughters jacket potato was hard, very disappointed, we don't know if we will be ordering from here again

Food was good.but waiting almost 2 hours to turn up and no one answering the phone was very poor.

Food was dripping in obviously old oil, chips were horrible and the chicken burger was so oily the salad had turned to pulp. Fish batter was completely soggy and did not smell appetising at all. We binned the food and I ended up cooking as my children refused to eat it and given the fact the oil was leaking out of the polystyrene box as they were trying to put it on their plates I don't blame them. I can honestly say I will NEVER eat from here again as it was revolting. First and last time I waste my money here !!

I've eaten from here on a few occasions and it was nice but tonight on this particular occasion the food was awful. I had sausage and chips and it had a really weird tangy taste like the oil it had been cooked in hadn't been changed for a while and the chips looked awful they were soggy and brown. Also all of it was very greasy 👎🏻

Great food as always never a disappointment

The burger was correct and great but the pizza was completely incorrect. I had already started eating it by the time I realised and it tasted good (except for the onions and peppers) so I did not call to register a complaint. Happy to use again but there may be a problem with the 4 topping selection process.

Absolutley horrific food, the chicken wings and wedges were clearly just microwaved or cooked when out of date. The Wings bones were very flexible, not exactly great Everything was squashed ontop of a pizza that was partially outside the box when delivered. Putting everything ontop made the toppings of the pizza stick to the box and not come off. Diabolical

Food was ok and reasonably priced.. just slow delivery. They also changed our delivery time from what we were first told.. had to contact just eat to find out what was going on but nearly 2hrs later food finaly arrived.

Delivery time was good, have eaten out from here a few times. This time really disappointed me, it looked like it had been thrown together from the other side of the room and was ridiculously greasy. I asked they call me and not knock or call the door bell because of people sleeping. They managed to do the opposite! Shame because I used to like this place but last night made me think differently.

An hour late. Couldn't get through to restaurant to find out the problem. Eventually did and they didn't seem to care on the phone then hung up after telling me it was on its way. Never normally have an issue though. This was hopefully a one off.

Very nice fish chips and chicken buger was nice and also the cheese buger was nice
