Great pub, especially for sports

If we are out in bishops stortford we will always visit the dogs head. A fantastic atmosphere.

Went for a quiz night, well attended, good bar food, staff polite and efficient

Very (dog) friendly with a good selection of Rivertown beers. Not many places that accept dogs so very grateful for somewhere warm and comfortable in Bishops Stortford town centre.

Decent food and great pints! Great for the football too, more big screens than people!

Food was nice but felt pretty over priced for what we got. Collectively it didn't look like a lot of food for the money we paid. Staff were very helpful and friendly. Another customer brought a dog in and it was barking loudly quite a bit which wasn't very nice when we were trying to catch up over a meal.

Great experience overall. Food and beer are ok. Certainly the most appreciable thing is the environment where you can watch matches and spend time in company.

Came here to watch the rugby, the setting is great loads of tv’s showing a large selection of sports. A good selection of pints. We stayed on after the match for some food, had a decent burger but the nachos were shocking

Here on a Saturday night for a few drinks. Very busy but the staff were still attentive and quick. Prices are ok.

I come to stortford to visit family, quite often. Everytime I visit, I make a stop at the dogs head, in the past I have been so disappointed with the service and lack of care from the majority of staff members, however the last two times I’ve visited I’ve been blown away by the service from a staff member called Violet, she was brilliant, very respectful and a wizz at her job. She’s the only reason I decided to return, you’ve got a gooden Dogs Head! Please thank Violet on my behalf :)

Nice pub , good layout so you don't need to watch or hear the football on one side etc. Popped on Saturday for quick drink , ended up having cod wrap , which I was pleasantly surprised of how nice it was. Good pub

Went to the Dogs Head the other day for a spot of lunch and a pint. It was a really nice experience, and the rainy weather plus homy feel made for a cosy afternoon playing board games by the window. Lots of cute dogs which was a bonus!

Fabulous venue for salsa dancing! The side area is screened off for beginners and intermediate lessons followed by dancing until late.

Been past a few times but went in with a work colleague. Food and drink was good, especially the chicken katsu curry dish. Food is definitely reasonably priced. As we left, noticed they had a pub quiz on, perhaps another time.

I had the regular cheeseburger, can't remember the name of it. I've had it a few times now, and it's always been nice. The chips have always been good, though I wish there was more of them

We went the dogs head for a birthday get together on the Friday night they had a live music great atmosphere i would recommend going here

Went for lunch, it was quiet , no other customers were there except us, staff were friendly but it was more like a self service restaurant, so I could not comment on their service cos there was simply none 😅, food was okay, I had cod goujons wrap with chips, taste was average, when ordered food we were told there was no fish & chips, which was originally our first choice of food. Despite the restaurant wasn’t busy, it took quite a while (15-20mins) for the food to come, the overall dining experience was just okay to average. Maybe it would be nicer if you only come for a drink in the evening.

Worst burger I have had in any country. Insanely dry, no moisture in the entire sandwich. Hard, very overcooked meat with about half a kilo of salt in it. Incredibly disappointing.

Somehow my burger was both hard and super salty? I’ve never had that happen before I’m not sure this even counted as food

Decor and furniture really comfortable, and had high hopes due to previous reviews. Menu looked right up our street. My 13 yo has had more buffalo wings than I care to think about so she jumped on those, we also got the chicken strips with either siracha or gojujang (can’t quite recall), nachos with beef and a few rounds of fries. The wings came with blue cheese sauce coating which I’ve never seen before - usually on the side right? I asked if we could change, we couldn’t and that was fine but when 13 yo went to eat the chicken it was pretty grey looking, like they were cooked yesterday vibes. I should have sent them back- I just felt like they would feel only doing so because of the blue cheese. Anyway chicken strips were fine, bit dry and overdone. Fries fine. The nachos felt like a missed opportunity, seem like fresh cut nachos and the salsa was fresh but the like the beef, just didn’t pack any spicy punch. Disappointing in all 🤷🏻‍♀️

Had an early evening meal here. Served by James, brilliantly attentive and helpful. Service exceptional, much better than I've experienced in many fancy restaurants. Tremendous value food, huge portions and really good quality. Would really recommend this place

Burger not too shabby but took half hour as there were 3 or 4 people who had ordered before us. Standard fries dissapointing maybe try curly ones?

Lovely welcome. Comfortable seats and table with enough space to be very comfortable. The dog was very welcome and given a water bowl on arrival. There was also a dog menu! WE stayed as long as we wished and had a lovely time. The staff were friendly and efficient . The food was fine.

The food was very good bar food, and the drinks were fine. Staff were friendly and attentive, and given it was a Monday in January, the atmosphere good and friendly with a pub quiz going on.

Good basic pub food, very pleasant staff with good skills, and decent atmosphere for a Monday in January, with a pub quiz and sport on Teles. Drinks were fine to, we were drinking Guinness which was pretty good. Definitely recommend

I went with my daughter for a Sunday lunch. We wanted somewhere dog friendly and we found it here. The food was great the service was great and the dog was very happy. The atmosphere is also good. Vibrant and lively. Have also been just for drinks and again, lovely atmosphere and the best thing is, they take cash! So to me, this is great news. Keep it up guys!

Absolutely massive and well presented place/space. The food was good. My friend had the fish and chips which looked excellent and I had the cesar salad which I did enjoy although beware that they use cabbage instead of lettuce. Wasn't a problem for me. You have to order and pay at the bar which was fine because when we went it wasn't busy. Friendly staff. Would recommend.

Good food and ambience… great friendly service. Relatively good value too, which is important in this current climate. Had the burgers and nachos here, both of which are good… and importantly fresh. Big selection of drinks and beers on tap too. Now my goto pub in the town as a good step up from all those around it.

Only one cask ale on offer, luckily it was OK.

The food is the best pub food that I have tried in Bishops Stortford so far! We took our puppy there and the puppy was provided with free water and snacks. I love here!

Was killing time one afternoon while meeting a friend and fancied a pint and a snack, and conveniently the cricket was on. The service was excellent, one beer was off but I was offered tastings of the others. It got very noisy around 4:30, which seemed to be a work do, but it's large enough to cope with that. Overall s nice couple of hours.

Great food great staff and a great atmosphere. The live music is good but sometimes loud especially when sat close I recommend the lower bar area. Really lovely pub overall.

A funky and friendly place that gets pretty lively in the evening. Lovely staff, decently priced booze and food. Occasional live music including The Fabulous Feedback Band who played there on Saturday who were AMAZING!

Raspberry Ripple waffles was hard and horrible. Also Ice cream was melted before serving.

Saturday afternoon - short-staffed - food order took a long time

Good Food. We were a large group, there for a birthday. Able to run a tab. Able to bring in your own cake. Gave us our "own area".

They were out of a dish, which drew me in through the door. What I did have was lovely, staff where lovely, but despite being at only 5% capacity it still took half an hour more to receive our desserts. I would go back though to give them a 2nd chance.

Pub quiz on Monday is always a lot of fun. The host is a legend.

Went in for some lunch on Saturday, took our two dogs with us. Food was good, service was great. They even brought out some water and treats for the dogs.

Great pub with a variety of beers on tap and separated sections for sport lovers and the non-sport lovers. Dog friendly as well and takes photos of your dogs for the dog board!

Nice and quiet as visited during weekday lunch time. The staff was super friendly. The toilets were clean. Food arrived quickly and it the portions were really big.

Great place to go in stortford whether for drinks, coffee, lunch, dinner, watch sports, themed nights and a place to dance. This place really xovers it all with seperate bars to allow for different customers. Love it here always good vibes and the staff are amazing! Massive shout out to Kean the manager.

Great sports pub plenty of TV'S to watch the game on. Great food and table service too. Wide range of draught beers to choose from. I will be going back 🍻🍻

Fantastic sports bar with great menu for burgers etc Fine selection of draught premium beers & great cocktails, friendly staff. Centrally located in the heart of Bishops Stortford with all shops a heartbeat away, short walk to the train station too.

Dogs head Bishop's Stortford, don't bothered eating there.we order wrap it took 2 hr to come and has hardly any chicken in it. Dry and disgusting 😒 I will never come back to eat here again . I don't recommend to anyone.
