Ate at Rose Cafe for the first time today. I was very pleased with the food and the friendly service from a delightful blonde haired lady (who's name I ought to have asked about). I look forward to enjoying another meal. Keep up the good work.

A great greasy spoon cafe in the centre of Hertford which does a fantastic fry-up and selection of customisable breakfasts. I’ve never been let down by the fry-ups but have sometimes eaten other things off the menu, like the lasagne, which did not taste fresh or to my liking.

Visited May2024. Superb cafe, wide menu, prompt service, good basic nosh.

No frills cafe serving british ‘cafe’ classics…..quality of food is what you’d expect from a British cafe 😂 but portion size is huge and the service is pleasant

This cafe is always busy which I'd a recommendation in itself. I only bought a sandwich today which was good value and had a generous filling.

Deceiving staff, got a half pounder with added cheese 30p I get but to put salad on it costs £1 and costs for adding salad £1 isn't even on the menu Check before you ask as you won't know

Not British owned, not a representative of English breakfast. Just the usual Turkish breakfast, dust filled sausage and coffee is mostly froth. Better to find an Englishman if you want a real English breakfast

Not entirely sure how I managed to finish the plate put in front of me. The portion of bubble was probably a meal in itself: and really tasty. Perfectly cooked black pudding — three actually! — crispy on the outside; soft on the inside.

Menu wih different offers. Big portions. Taste was good! Service- very good! Good price!

Sausage roll completely over done. Sausages cut in have and about 2mm crusty outside all the way round the Sausage. Just through it away. Served with attitude aswell. Definitely not going back there

Visited June 2023: Cheap and cheerful cafe serving a variety of breakfast, brunch and lunch options. There is limited outdoor and indoor seating but well worth the visit when you get space. The prices are good and the portion sizes are very good too. Wheelchair accessible outside.

Clean, large portions and cooked well, waitress service excellent., room for mobility users. Ist time will visit again next year.😁

My first time visit but I really like the atmosphere and the food

I will not be returning. That was the worst breakfast I have attempted to eat. There are 'greasy spoon' cafes but this one likes to ladle it on your breakfast. Absolutely swimming in grease, enough to make you feel sick. Consequently, didn't eat it and left.

THE place to go, if you fancy a proper café 'Full English'. Also, though, great for takeaway bacon/sausage/egg* rolls (*delete as appropriate 😉). Good food, friendly service and it doesn't hurt the pocket. What more can you ask?

Love it We visited with my brother and wife for lunch all of us loved the food and the portions were huge. I really recommend the jacket potatoes. Very good customer service too.

Lady behind the till is so rude and miserable , it’s like your a burden coming in! no one smiles at you or even says hello.. total negative attitude. various occasions I said Thankyou , still to no reply back or even a smile. Got order wrong even though being explained to various times. Not sure I’ll be rushing back.

I always wonder how other people find sausages here as I think they are dreadful! Otherwise I like everything else and nicely priced.

I love this cafe. I've been going here for years. Today tho, was a rather strange one. We ordered our food and drinks and waited. My food turned up 1st, which was strange, bc my kids food normally comes 1st. We waited another 5 mins, watched as everyone else was getting their foods and asked where our food was. They said it was still cooking. They lied. I saw them make it after I queried it and started cooking it. We received the food, only for it not to be cooked properly. I had a rather disappointed child with me. We paid and left. We got to the car and I got pinged telling me how much I paid and it was too late to go back as I needed to get home. They had overcharged me. The food was not cooked properly and most of the staff were just standing around talking.

Had a very enjoyable catch up with a friend. Service is friendly and the food is good and fresh. I had a delicious omelette and several mugs of tea. This family business deserves support.

Had a lovely very late morning breakfast at the Rose cafe. friendly staff, nice clean tables and chairs. Nice food, good portion sizes and very reasonably priced. Coffee or tea included in the price and they took credit cards. . We will be going back again.

I love it here. Not a panini or Frappuccino in sight. Normal people and good English food. No iPhones. No earbuds. No NPC’s. This is where you should be eating.

Sunday early Morning in Hertford, desperate for hot breakfast - Rose Cafe open. Full English (without beans for me) and latte. Good quality and fast service. Toast was too greasy as already with melted butter.

Lovely cafe. It is clean and the staff team are very friendly and helpful. I must recommend it.

I visit the cafe a few times a year. Service: The waitress taking the order was surly, she did not even say hello. I asked for a glass of tap water and was presented with bottled water and at that stage felt too embarrassed to return it. Food: Portion sizes have gone down considerably. I ordered a jacket potato with beans and cheese - there was very little cheese on the potato. Price: The lady at the till made up prices as the amount we paid did not reflect the menu price. Hygiene: There is a larger lady who waits tables there, she was wearing a black t shirt and it was soaking wet and absolutely filthy with stains. Clean aprons should be provided at the start of a shift. Sadly, I will not return, this cafe was a hidden gem - not anymore.

I have visited Roses Caffe on a number of occasions and have always been happy. However, recently, on two occasions I have been sick with mild symptoms of food poisoning. Most recently this week. The first time I didn’t make the connection however immediately after my recent visit I became ill. I believe they have a new chef and I have to say the food I received this week was not the usual. I also witnessed a young member of staff back chatting her superior when asked to carry out duties and found this very unprofessional. I do not usually leave bad reviews however I think it is important to make the owners aware.

Just the Best . .proper fud great great service cannot rave enough about the service and menu. .too much choice? Nooo take your time all you want is there ..add to the set menus (bubble all day long and black pud) did I mention the fab staff ? Tea top up / replacement , after I accidentally over sugared . .as Tina Turner said (yes she was there on my Walkman 😜) "simply the best"

Went for a sunday breakfast. Coffee was good .had a fry up and poach eggs grilled tomatos.fried bread was good .it was ok.service was good .not rushed.coffee nice.

Quite literally the worst bubble I’ve ever had ,,, how hard is it to make descent bubble ffs And shouting and banging around was off putting

Popped in for the first time to have a quick sausage roll and cold drink, waitress service was terrible, not even a hello, the owner didnt have a simple hello or a smile, when the sausage rolls was finally ready they was placed on the table without a word spoken from the waitress, then biting into the sausage roll found that it was one sausage cut up into 4 to make it look more, but the final straw was that the roll was stale, never again will find a decent cafe that wants to cook good decent food and serve

We used to love going to this cafe as we were well received and the food is great. However just recently the plates have been reduced in size but the prices have remained if not increased. The lady that takes the money I’m sure just makes the price up as it has no reflection with the menu price. Disappointing I would say and I don’t think that I’m the only one to think so as the cafe used to be full the majority of the time and you had to wait for a table now seems empty. Improvement needed I feel.

We used to really enjoy this café over the past 5 years. Portions now smaller but still good quality. We were overcharged on our most recent visit and when we queried it were made to feel in the wrong. Not all staff as friendly as they used to be. A real shame but I'm not sure we will be visiting again.

Decent cafe and quite busy always a good sign, I really liked the coffee most cafes i dont.

Its not a bad cafe reasonably good food at a reasonable price..cheap sausages . Place is clean and tidy.The staff here qnd I presume the owner often feel the need to shout around the place rather then talk rather unpleasen also there is a big mirror near the front door that the staff are always fiddling with there hair in front off then carrying on with there work very unhygienic.

Excellent bacon baguette! Nicely toasted and big!! I needed a second cup of tea to help it go down. This is the first time in this cafe which was very clean and tidy. Very polite staff and great service. Good prices though I did use cash as 'No cards' policy was active. I'm definitely going back again!

A great little place in Hertford town centre, we sat outside in the sun on a Sunday morning with the dog. I started with a delicious vanilla milkshake which was thick and tasty. My partner had a vegetarian breakfast which was a big plate of food and I had a chicken salad baguette which was massive. Great value for money that’s for sure but also very good quality and we both thoroughly enjoyed our meals. The staff were super friendly too. One thing to remember is they accept cash only.

No smiles, orders always wrong and they forget items, even the drinks you order they can't get right. Its not the first time either so won't be going back.

The best cafe I’ve been in for a long time, sometimes I go to Wetherspoons but whatever one I go to the breakfast is cold , so for £2 extra I got a hot more substantial one with 2 slices of thick fresh bread and a coffee, good service and clean well done .
