Busy cafe with tasty looking food. We both had coffees. The cappuccino had rather too much foam for me but it was well made.

Sadly this is not a patch on what it used to be. The cafe situated in the cycle shop used to be friendly, personable and with a good choice of snack / lunch options. The new cafe is cold, inflexible, over priced and has zero customer service. Doddington Hall, you’ve killed what used to be a great location. There are far better options available elsewhere.

Called in today for coffee and cake. The girl who told us where to sit had no customer service skills. One of the staff was talking to another staff, well swearing not about her but to her. Same staff member was on her phone when she stood about. The hype of the place on tv was the complete opposite of our experience today

Doddington Coffee Shop is on the Doddington Hall Estate. The shop is a standard country house/garden centre set up. An onsite butcher sells wonderful fresh produce, from cuts of beef to scotch eggs in a variety of flavours. It's all there. And as well as the meat, there is a alcohol section, full of beers, wines, whiskeys, etc. Then there's the chutneys, the biscuits, the chocolates, the quality frozen meals, it's a Santa's Grotto of expensive groceries. Attached to the shop is Doddington Coffee Shop and it compliments the shop perfectly. It's not cheap, but the food and drinks are undoubtedly very nice indeed. However, it can get very, very busy and you might have a long wait for a table. Excellent, but pricey. The Scotch eggs from the butcher were chuffing delicious though...

The new revamped bike cafe is open but it seems without the previous level of customer service. Previous staff have been courteous however on enquiring about a table yesterday I was met with we are full. No sorry or would you like to wait. In fact when I asked when a table would be free I was told everyone had just sat down and I should try the other cafe! Really? This person was meant to be welcoming but she had obviously had enough that day and no training. It is bad enough that Doddington seems to be the last place in England where there is no diversity now we can add rude to the list of reasons not to visit.

Nice and warm in the café this afternoon, the staff were very obliging and welcoming. It was a cold day so i chose a seasonal latte and was offered soya or oat milk as I avoid saturated fat where I chose. I particularly noticed the staff diligently wiping tables which is a pet 'thing' of mine!

We ate there a couple of weeks ago. Two coffees, carrot cake and scrambled eggs on toast. Coffee was cheap. The carrot cake was to die for and instead of scrambled egg on toast I got a fruit tea! Went back today. We wanted two hot chocolates, one with cream. What did we get? Two lukewarm hot chocolates, mine had the cream! But marshmallows too! A very average hot chocolate at that. We’d waited that long for our drinks, sat in a drafty old tent that we just couldn’t be bothered to complain. Needless to say we won’t bother again.

Disappointing. We arrived at around 9.30 a.m. after a very early appointment at hospital and my husband ordered a full English Breakfast and I had the Vegetarian version. Nothing was hot - even the plates were cold. The bacon my husband was given had either been under heat lamps or had been cooked for a while as it was tough, the beans were cold, the mushroom wasn't properly cooked, toast only appeared toasted on one side - no side plate offered for the toast by the way. The vegetarian version was OK but I'd sincerely stop doing the veggie sausage, it was dire. My sauté potatoes were 'old' - they'd been cooked for a long time or recooked. If there is a next time I'll opt for a pastry. The tea was dreadful and I did advise the waitress of this - the tea was far too strong for such a tiny pot. Yes, we could have complained but what would have been the point? In all probability the feedback wouldn't have been shared with the kitchen staff.

I am a loyal customer of Doddington but I must say that recently I have been disappointed. The young staff on a Saturday need guidance. They are confused and do not provide the same level of service as is offered on a weekday. The young waitress spilt my coffee and said she would go get some ‘toilet roll’ to mop it up. The coffee was quite cold and my son didn’t really enjoy his breakfast as it wasn’t cooked very well. You have to go find the staff rather than them being attentive to you.

We return here each time in the hope that things improve. Unfortunately nothing does!! The bike cafe has been ‘temporarily’ housed under a fixed marquee , which joins on to an open, large room for about 18m now. Fully equipped and to all intents and purposes, permanent. The food is good, but the service is deplorable. The system seems to be that only designated people take the order, or should I say designated person. I’ve never seen more than one. The waiting staff who can’t take orders, consists mostly of young people hanging around chatting. No one has any sense of urgency or duty. I was watching behind the counter after our order had been taken. About 5/6 people were behind the counter, drinking coffee or water and eating. They were chatting about where they were going that evening. One guy was making coffee. Two coffees went out the back, to staff presumably, and after what seemed ages, our coffee was done. By now, all the staff had disappeared. Then a guy appeared took the coffees but didn’t know which table they were for. Our food appeared, (she didn’t know which table they were for either). I had the jumbo hot dog which was, without exaggeration, the most charred sausage I’ve ever seen. I said I couldn’t eat it and the girl quickly offered to replace it. BUT WHO ON EARTH THOUGH THAT IT WOULD BE OK TO SERVE IT? I’ve no idea who, if anyone is in charge in this cafe, a young girl did go and sit with her lap top, looking officious, next to colleague who was eating his brought in lunch, but she didn’t appear to have any authority or awareness of the appalling service. We have had this experience a number of times (minus the charred sausage) but nothing seems to change. Doddington are missing a trick here as although not heaving, it was busy. I do hope they don’t blame the temporary situation as that’s no excuse. There are plenty of staff and there is plenty of good food. Buck your ideas up!!

This is only 3 stars because the staff were friendly and there were working toilets. You know that taste left after eating a red onion as though it were an apple? No, me neither; but the red onion was the only thing of any flavour in the Doddington Nourish Bowl. I could still taste it 2 hours later despite eating breath mints. The bowl, like everything else served was a child sized portion: glass of tap water in one of those little glasses provided at primary schools in the 70s/80s before glass became suddenly dangerous to children and everything switched to plastic. I mean. Really couldn’t they spare the 150ml? This is the rundown from the menu, followed by what I actually found in the side salad, sorry Nourish Bowl. “Grilled mediterranean vegetables”: 2 pieces of courgette ring halved. (1 cm thick and 2cm diameter. Nearly half an uncooked small red onion. A couple of random bits of thinly sliced red cabbage that possibly escaped from a coleslaw mix. “radish”: 3 slices of radish. Kitchen Garden mixed leaves, 3 leaves from a baby gem lettuce. “tomatoes”, 5 halved cherry tomatoes. Whoever was making this salad likes cherry tomatoes. “British pea guacamole”. A tablespoonful of this. It was utterly tasteless as there’s no seasoning in it at all. “Hodmedod's grains”. A dessert spoonful of this. Again withoutseasoning, tasteless and drier than a camel’s foot in the desert. “& boiled egg” : half of a hard boiled egg. 1 dressing: mayo- really cheap catering mayo diagonally squeezed across the top. And the cost… a mere £9. Yes. You read that right. £9 for something that didn’t amount to a side salad. This is the third time I’ve been to Doddington this year. It’s getting progressively worse. Still good for coffee, but the rest of it is either believing it’s own hype, or knows that the tourists will pay because they’re trapped. I won’t be back and won’t recommend. Oh and the 3 green algae lines bowls of minging water for dogs outside don’t exactly scream “dog friendly”.

Visited for my birthday lunch with family on Sunday. A few little issues to mention which is unusual as it is normally great. Hot dog roll was too small for the hot dog which made it hard for my son to eat, burger was a little lacking in flavour and my chips were very ‘scrappy’ - a few good ones but a lot of little hard ones. Nobody came to ask if we needed anything else or clear our plates. Had to go find a waitress to order coffee and cakes which were brought to the uncleared table. Waitresses were pleasant and friendly but were just hanging around the counter rather than looking to clear tables or take extra drinks orders or cakes. Maybe this was because it was a Sunday but I am used to better service in the week when I visit. It won’t put me off but I felt a little disappointed as I was celebrating a special birthday

Ordered the Welsh rarebit on thick cut tosst but without the advertised Boston sausage as I am vegetarian. What actually arrived was a muffin cut in two with melted cheese on it with a desultory scattering of chopped parsley. The top was not bubbling and crisply brown but just barely melted cheese as if heated in a microwave. It looked like it had been tossed on the plate too. I spoke to one of the waitresses there and asked if this was it. She looked confused and when I asked if she thought this was worth the £5.95 price tag without the sausage she said 'that's what we do here'. No apology or offer to improve anything. I then pressed it with another waitress and asked if I could have some sliced tomato and salad garnish. A discussion ensued with the chef and waitress and I received my original order back topped with a wildly generous two slices of tomato and the now heated parsley garnish. Having been on a long walk I ate it but it was a very disappointing experience all round. The staff barely acknowledge you and the atmosphere was one of caring very little. In addition the coffee was pretty flavourless too. A pretty poor experience and one not to be repeated. Buck up your ideas!

We come here a lot, sometimes by bike and sometimes by car when we stock up on fresh produce from the farm shop.We went to the coffee shop at 1145 and wanted a bacon and egg sandwich. This is usually delicious. We were told that the menu had now switched to the lunch menu. We couldn't have what we asked for but we could have a crispy bacon stack with an egg. I couldn't really work out the difference. The bacon was now crispy bacon rather than ordinary bacon. To call it crispy is an understatement. It was so dry I left most of it.Now, I appreciate that cafes do switch menus from breakfast to lunch menus but I don't understand why the only difference is the bacon. The rest of it was the same: same bread and an egg! Either you can do a bacon an egg sandwich at 1145 or you can't. There was a price difference though. Unfortunately, we paid more to get inedible bacon. Not the fault of the staff. They're always great but a management decision, I guess.Confusing!

I am disabled and live a good 40 miles from Doddington but once a month I am driven to Doddington hall cafe to meet with a dear friend for a full morning of catch up. This is the only time I see anyone socially. We meet at around 10 and always have breakfast. Now I am on crutches and don't drink hot drinks so I opt for a cold bottle and a glass from the chiller and go to pay. Upon arriving at the counter there are usually a couple of women serving and chatting to each other. I always pay cash and take some time whilst maneuvering my crutches and getting my purse out of my handbag and hand over some money. When I am given my change I always have to lean across the counter meaning I lose control of one of my crutches and it sometimes falls to the ground. I have never been asked if I would like some help nor have I ever been asked if I need any help getting to my table. Imagine two hands on two crutches how do you carry a glass and a bottle of juice...answer with difficulty. Obviously, if my friend arrives before me she comes across to help. The food is always of the highest quality and I have never had any cause to complain and it is because of the quality of the food that we return monthly. We then enjoy a stroll around the gift shop and then on to the food quarters to stock up on treats and sausages from the deli counter. My message to you is if you could retrain your staff to be disability aware and I know a lot of us want to maintain our independence but if your staff could lean over a little further when giving change and offering to assist with carrying things to the table when it is blatantly obvious someone is struggling that would make the whole experience 100%. You waiting staff are always brilliant, I just find the staff taking the orders are too involved with themselves and not enough with the paying customer. To show you how much they are not paying attention, I ordered scrambled on white and poached on brown and two scrambled on white was served. I didn't want to cause a fuss so I said not to bother replacing as I wanted to eat with my friend not afterward. This to you may seem trivial but to me, it's a huge deal, I cannot eat white bread and I have an issue with eating alone. Yes mock me but we all have our quirks.
