Docklands Fish and Chips in Liverpool

My first fish & chips and it was wonderful (haddock). Fast and friendly service. Very well served dish, I liked it and I will be back.

Clearly this is a tourist trap, everyone knows it given the location, but first time trying the place. £5.00 for a portion of chips!. They were the most dry and depressing chips i've had in years. To top things off, service was utterly dreadful, staff looked at us as though we were an imposition, when we asked if there was salt and vinegar they just grunted and said it was on the tables, and looked like they wanted to be anywhere but there. The vinegar was so watered down I used about half a bottle to try and get any flavour. Based on this experience...an awful chippy with rude staff and extortionate prices. Ive never reviewed a chippy before (never thought i'd want to!) but never returning here.

Seems to have changed ownership not the same fish was ok but chips were not good at all definitely changed don't taste like chippy chips price is ridiculous £14.99 for fish and chips way over priced sadly we won't be back and we had always gone here shame really

Myself and a friend popped into Docklands fish and chips during a sunny Sunday at the Albert dock. I've never visited this chippy before, so we thought we'd give it a try. Upon entering, the place is bright and clean, and the staff are friendly, and we were served promptly. We both decided to have fish 🐟 and chips 🍟 and mushy peas. The price for this meal was £14.99 which is a little pricy for such a meal at a takeaway, although there is a dine in option which we took. The portion size was good. The piece of battered fish was pretty big. The batter was light, although it lacked any real flavour, I thought. The fish was moist, and the chips were ok 👍🏻. Overall, it's not the best fish and chips I've ever had nor the worst. The Albert dock attracts a lot of tourists, so this place is aimed at the tourist. Overall, the place is worth a visit if you want some battered fish 🐟 and chips. There are no toilets within the dining area. However, public toilets are close by and free.

The owner employs very vulnerable people and takes advantage of them.

Not reliable closing time. Never find it open!

Fish batter was saturated in fat, the fish had no taste due to being undercooked, chips were tasteless and poor quality, mush peas good but not worth the £14.95, what a rip off and avoid this place, not very inviting at all

Best fish I have ever had the. I fish on the Mersey and it was was my first time here all the lads say its the best and it was.

Small chips , curry sauce and a small sausage between me and my daughter was a great portion size. The staff are so amazing & friendly, they made us feel so welcome. ill definitely go for another visit !

When I am down the waterfront and really fancy some chips there's only one place really worth going to and this is it!! I have never been disappointed here their chips are always fresh, the fish, tender & tasty and it's served in a neat box along with sauces and a nice pot of mushy peas. Add your own salt & vinegar! Which is great as I douse mine to the max, grab a seat outside by the dock and enjoy. This is in my estimation the 'Go to chippy' in & around the Pier Head & Albert Dock. Great quality food, served with friendly banter, clean, tasty. Don't take my word for it, go and see & taste for yourselves.... You will not be disappointed!!

very nice place i came here on 22nd oct 2023 had nice cuppa tea and chips great value for money gorgeous views would come back here again for the staff they work extra hard on busy days and for the views its self. highly recommend lovely staff very pleasent and friendly couldnt have done more for me. I would like to have a stirrer for my cuppa tea wasnt given one but staff on hand and fast service lovely chips done to my liking thanks thank you for the service. Would recommend

Absolutely delicious meaty fish, only down fall was tasteless vinegar. The service was 100000% lovely friendly, chatty just what you want. No miserable staff

Agree with other people mentioned here: hygiene is on a low level and high risk of getting an intestinal infection since employers do not follow standards of meal preparation. For example, one of the employees has gloves but it was completely useless because they served dishes and dumped garbage with those gloves and at the same time. Better to find more hygienic places around.

Not a tourist, having been born in England I like to think I know my fish and chips. A bit on the pricey side for portion size.. could have done with a few more chips, amount was minimal at best. Decent enough food, no issues with taste. Seating outside and inside, nothing special. Tables dirty, not sure how often they're cleaned for those wanting to sit outside. Like most businesses here it's a tourist trap hence inflated prices or lower portion sizes. With this on mind you'd be much better, ofcourse in a pub like the pump house for example, in a warmer and comfortable environment but as a grab and go at the docks this is a good enough place to stop for a quick bite to eat.

£35 for two Haddock, chips and mushy peas plus two cappuccino coffees. Our grandson had a free lolly., he ate at McDonalds later. We sat outside the chippy on their tables. The battered Haddock was well cooked and tasted delicious. The coffee was good too! The price may seem expensive but it was a treat and it was at a premium setting in the docks.

I work in a care home and took some of our lovely residents for lunch here today, the staff were so friendly, the young lady behind the till was so helpful! The food was great, reasonable price and big portions! Great 😃

The best fish and chips we ve had the fish is so fresh I took a picture of Hassan holding the two massive cods. Initially the first time we went we shared one portion, we decided to go back next day for lunch for each and it was so tasty. The staff are Excellent and friendly.

Only problem with the meal is the petty charge for extra ketchup packet. You get one it was extra for two.

La zona del puerto es muy agradable para pasear y disfrutarla. En los soportales del puerto se encuentra Docklands Fish and Chips. Los camareros son muy agradables y educados. Hay que pedir en la barra y después sentarse a disfrutar de las vistas. Los precios están muy bien teniendo en cuenta que es una zona muy turística. La comida está bien, nosotros tomamos Salmon Fishcake y Dockland Special Dinner, para 2 adultos y 2 niños está bien. Hay aparcamiento en el mismo puerto (es importante abonar el ticket, por cierto, es económico). Te agradezco que pulses en "Útil" si te ha venido bien esta reseña y que sigas mis reseñas (pulsando en "seguir") si te parecen interesantes.

Wish I read reviews beforehand - order the specia and battered sausage. Battered sausage was doughy and the calamari and scampi was bland. The tables were dirty and tables were all cramped together. Wouldn’t recommend for the price.

Only had some chips with gravy which were fine but for two portions and two cans of coke it cost us £17 which is expensive! The lady who was attending to the tables was polite however the man who I assumed to be the owner was nothing less than awful. The way he was speaking to a young female staff member was like something from the dark ages. Management lessons needed there…will not return…that poor young girl will expect all of her managers to be like that in the future (and if she reads this…they’re not all that awful).

The owner or manager was talking to his staff in such a rude manner, it made us feel uncomfortable. We’d already placed our orders or we’d have walked out. Food is fine but very overpriced. Lots of better options along the dock.

I mean it’s fish and chips at the end of the day, but, a good fish and chips to be fair. Various options as a chippy. Friendly staff, and a tasty menu.

Each time I’ve visited I’ve left angry at myself for being foolish enough to dine here again. The food is beyond overpriced, and leaves much to be desired when it comes to taste. If you eat in, you’ll be doing so in the shadow of pigeons walking around the restaurant or flying overhead, with little done to try and deter them away. Terrible food, expensive prices, poor service and disgusting dining spaces. Hard avoid.

Went here for dinner. The cod was good and redeemed the meal but the calamari was horrible! Not pleasant at all and sauce couldn’t even save it!

Massive portions of lovely food. You're served quickly by friendly staff. Location is great. Prices aren't bad at all given the location.

The fish was pretty tasty and a portion was big enough. However, service was awful. Cashier just put fork and knife on dirty rack in front of him. Tables were dirty. It seemed they were not cleaned at all. The result of such attitude was food poisoning and nausea. I recommend to find pub and taste fish&ships elsewhere. Price will be the same and you will avoid potential food poisoning.

One of the best fish & chips I’ve ever had!

We spent 3 day break in Liverpool and stayed in Albert Dock area. We had the pleasure to sample the best Fish 'n' Chips that we ever tasted! Fully recommend this gem!

Best piece of cod I had in a long time. Batter was nice and crispy, yet light like a tempura. Good portion size and loved the mushy peas!

Finally paid a random visit here whilst walking round the Albert Dock yesterday. Generous portion size for the cod. Lovely food in a great place too.

The taste of the food was very lovely but this is how many chips I was given ...which was meant to feed my child and myself. So the fish, that amount of chips, little tub of curry and a can of coke £18 SHOCKING price!

Keine hausgemachte Remoulade, sondern nur eine winzige Menge fertig Remoulade im Plastikbeutel. Fisch extrem fettig. Da der Fisch auf den Pommes serviert wird, wird das Fett von diesen auch noch aufgesaugt. Im Lade selbst ist die Luft sehr „fetthaltig“, da möchte man eher nicht essen. Aber man kann auch draußen essen.

Horrible owner!!! I spent almost 50£ for super simple fish and chips and when I asked for extra sauce sachets he said you need to pay 3£ extra! I said ok give me and I’ll pay after we finish (I didn’t have money with me) he said no go bring money first! Unbelievable and rude! An angry man! I felt sorry for staff

Just by the dockside, in a happening area. Yummy foods, fishes are just too good, so are the fries. Further options for cold and hot beverages. Totally recommended.

Amazing food and service! Not the cheapest but the view over the dock makes it all worth it. Some of the best service I've received to rival fine dining restaurants, thank you!

From the beginning, I think it's not a very good place, it's a bit expensive and it doesn't have much flavor, it's not bad, but ultimately I didn't like the food and I think I wouldn't recommend it. No customer service staff no polite no friendly.

Great chipper down on the Albert Dock, always get good chips here and the view isn't bad. Staff are usually dead friendly too

Disappointing. Veggie burger (£4), no salad, no bun, no sauce. Extra £3.50 for greasy chips. Underwhelming fish (£12.95). Would avoid.

It's good fish and chips. The reason I didn't give 5* is I was expecting it to be good. It was quite expensive (14.95 for a cod and chips+iced tea) but again that was expected, it's at Albert Dock and the rent is probably high. The aesthetic is great:classic chippie and you can look at the docks while you eat. If you want good fish and chips in a great area of Liverpool it's a good pick. The service was also excellent.

We've been first time to this Fish Bar but we will never go again! The food its very greasy and the service its shocking! The waiter [youth], if I can name it that way just threw the order on the table and all the cutlery dropped on the floor. Guess what, he just put it back on the table in the front of us like nothing happened! Not sure how come this place has 4.2 stars as the chips are sticked to the paper and food its bad. I do not recommend this Fish Bar, feel free to have a bad experience though!

Very disappointed today, chips hard had to ask them to be changed, waited ages for bread and butter despite telling the lady we hadn't got it and pie was completely dried out and smelt awful! Did get money back for pie dinner but very poor experience, won't be in a rush to revisit

El restaurante está en una buena ubicación lo malo que no tiene baño. Nos atendió una chica la verdad que no nos gustó mucho, un poco seria y antipática para trabajar cara al público. Sin embargo había un hombre que mejor. Bueno, que decir del famoso Fish & Chips, es la primera vez que lo pruebo y la verdad no me pareció gran cosa. El pescado se veía fresco cuando nos lo enseñaron antes de freírlo pero poco más. Era lo que me esperaba la verdad.

Ein belebter Ort um das britische Nationalgericht zu verköstigen. Sehr gut zur Mittagszeit besucht. Der starke Geruch von Fett sollte einen jedoch nicht abschrecken, nach kurzer Zeit gewöhnt man sich daran ;). Zum Essen. Wir hatten eine Portion Schellfisch (Haddock) mit Fritten, Erbsenpüree, Mixed Pickles, Remoulade und Mayo. Für unsere Geschmäcker war das Erbsenpüree das beste am bestellten Mittagessen da es gut gewürzt war. Die Fritten waren gänzlich ungewürzt und lapprig. Womöglich ist dies landestypisch, für uns war es jedoch enttäuschend. Die lockere Panade tat dem großen Stück Fisch gut, aber auch hier war es letztlich frittierter Fisch der gänzlich geschmacklos war. Es kann durchaus sein, das unserer Gruppe die Landesgepflogenheiten nicht bekannt sin, aber das eigene Erlebnis soll ja bewertet werden. Daher faire drei Sterne für einen angenehmen Aufenthalt und ein Gericht was keiner Wiederholung bedarf.

Liverpool’de en güzel fish and chips yiyebileceğiniz yer. Kalamarda gayet iyi. Fiyatlar uygun. Tek eksik tarttar sos az geliyor ilave istemeniz lazım. Patatesi biraz daha süzmeleri lazım. Kesinlikle tavsiye ederim.

Service very poor they not informed about 10% service charge and they don’t make refund. The Manager is very rude. I’m not happy with this place and definitely I will not recommend this place.

L'odeur du gras peut etre surprenante en arrivant, mais le fish & chips est typique et très bon. Le service (à défaut d'être agréable) est très rapide. La terrasse n'est pas la plus belle ni attrayante (ni la salle à l'intérieur d'ailleurs) mais la qualité de ce que vous mangez y est.

A very nice place to have the traditional fish n chips. Combined with the view and these fish n chips 🍟 we enjoyed a lot! The fish was really fresh and crispy served with mushy peas. Overall, a really good place to visit 👍🏻

They are alright, nothing special. I just went there for a munch, because me and the Mrs were hungry and it was lunch time. Service is whack though. I asked the guy what you recommend and he just said have what you want, and the girl with glasses is just an arrogant person really. Not polite at all, and hate to admit because I'm a different minority, I felt like I was treated different compared to most other people that walked in. She might have also acted like that because I actually questioned the bill. It was like £30 for two fish and chips with drinks.

The potato 🥔 scallops are gorgeous. Highly recommended.

Tuesday 30th August. Shopping round liverpool for a few hours with the kids. Promised them a trip here as a treat for being good.. got here at 2pm and it was shut. Kids were starving and very upset. The sign on the door said open but no lights on and all locked up. Very poor not sticking to your opening times. It was lunch time and your shut. Very dissapointed. Albert dock management company should be having a word, it's also a tourist destination and this place is lax with its opening hours. Look at other reviews they are bad.... there should be a standard to meet for a location in liverpool's hottest tourist location to prevent locations such as this dragging it down

Firstly, £4 for a large portion of chips. The batter on my jumbo battered sausage was so dark - cooked so long the sausage was like leather: inedible. Blonde woman on the till coughing without covering her mouth. Save yourself (and some money) and go to Yanni's instead! It's far cheaper, much better food and really friendly service!

Good quality food but overpriced. The service from the lady behind the counter was poor. Will not be returning or recommending.

Food (fish and chips) was nice, but service from the lady who took my order was unpleasant. She seemed like she didn't want to serve me for whatever reason. No please or thank you, change was placed on the counter even tho I had my hand out. Same again with cutlery, she placed it on the counter and not to my hand. Wouldn't go again as the behaviour was rude. From previous reviews, the bad service was not isolated. 2 stars for the food, the food may have been more enjoyable if I didn't take the bad service personally.

Fish and Chips greasy and tastless. The woman serving with blond hair rude in her manner. Don't know why people like that work in customer service establishments.
