Dobbies Garden Centre in Huntingdonshire

everything was fine but i was shocked at the attitude of the old short haired woman in the cafe… she was being so nasty to the young girl making drinks!

So sad to know this is closing. I do not live very near to it, but have been in quite a few times and much prefer it to the Dobbies which is a village away from me. I cannot understand why this one is closing, while my local one is staying open!! This one was always far superior....though the cafe was not good, but nor is the one locally! I only heard it was closing a few days ago, and was very surprised. Shame.

A very wide selection of produce, but a little on the expensive side when compared with our local garden centre. As of December 202r this Dobbies is closing.

Now well organised with good range. Always a queue for coffee. Closing down sale in progress.

Good day out. There is a mini golf course available to keep the youngsters busy, pity that that garden centre will be closed soon.

Great instore Waitrose butchers, Pavers Shoes and Weird Fish. Such a shame it will all be closing soon.

It will be a sad loss to the area when it closes at the end of the year

Really going to miss this place... Loved a good wander round. Sadly depleting stocks now but still worth a visit for a bargain in all the sales. Christmas stuff is up in abundance and there seems to be a mini golf course we had never seen before!

Helpful staff today checked item on their radio, then priced item at till as was not in stock at present but was on order, thanks for your trouble 👍. Update visited today bought good produce at Walter Smith butchers & boots at Pavers but this store will be closing by the end of the year.

Looking depleted after closure notice, but generally stocked with bedding.

Unfortunately this icon is closing down, not more beautiful cakes and coffees. Great range of plants, gifts, and food. You can take your partner there, loss them and have a great shopping experience, because they will find something of interest for them. It literally has everything, even a Waitrose.

Dobbies , what can I say ,it's good to walk round and see the stock to what they have to offer but the prices there a bit high for the market price , the layout is very good , it's a shame COSTA HAS GONE lol , the staff there helpful but only if you can find a member ov staff that's where the problem is there's not many ov them around , but in all that's said and done if you can find what yr looking for here enjoy your time looking round. ( DOBBIES ARE CLOSING DOWN they are having a sale on different items in store THIS GARDEN CENTRE WILL CLOSE DOWN BEFORE THE NEW YEAR !

Luke warm coffee and disappointing cheese scones. Poor. The garden centre was ok, but I wouldn't recommend the cafe.

This is not just a garden centre It sells lots of other things. There is a in-house butchers, marine shop, very nice restaurant. Coffee shop and lots more.It also has a thing called Little Seeds which is for children gardeners. Parking for disabled and easy entrance. You can have a Dobbies Card which entitles you to two free drinks and discounts off things you buy in store. Their is also a Waitrose in the store which is handy for groceries. A crazy golf course has now been opened. The restaurant is now open again. If you hold a Dobbies Card you get a piece of cake and a free drink on your birthday. Their is a large section devoted to Tropical Fish. Unfortunately their is talk of Dobbies Closing down but nobody seems to know anymore.

It's a shame this garden centre will be closing in the new year ,a lot of hard working ,good staff work here . Although we don't live in Huntingdon, we always call in if this way while travelling through . I'm not sure what this centre needs to get people back, so make the most of it while it's still there

As a visitor to this area, I found this place very good and not as expensive I have thought. Got some good deals.had to update today , went there today to eat and there was dogs in the restaurant which has put me of .

Service was appalling. We waited nearly 20 minutes before our order was taken. Then 20 minutes later we still hadn’t received our drinks let alone our order. We’ve given up waiting. Avoid this place at all costs.

Smiths butchers always first class. Disappointed in the restaurant offering, we would have just liked a. bowl of soup.

They always are closed for service. I think after 2.30 u can hardly get anything. No buisness sense!!

I had a Tuna baguette for my lunch in the restaurant. It looked like it was a part- baked baguette but it didn't look or taste like it had even been baked. I expected it to be crispy on the outside but it was soft. It was horrible.

Really nice garden centre plus has other shops inside would have been a five but quite expensive but products are well made and the plants are normally looked after

I went to the garden centre to go to MOUNTAIN WAREHOUSE, as I am doing the Yorkshire 3 peaks. I went there asking for advice on what I would need/ purchase. After lengthy and knowledgeable conversation with Iain the manager. He showed me what i would need to purchase and a few tips on what to expect. I was happy to purchase what he recommended. From start to finish, I felt reassured and confident in my purchases. Once again thank you to Iain and his team. Highly recommend!! 5*'s

Nice garden centre with mini golf, plenty to have a look at.

Popped in to the restaurant and had a sandwich. Very nice. Good quick service. Parts of the restaurant are dog friendly as is the rest of the shop.

Good selection of shops. There was a very long queue at the cafe and there was a poor selection of food, so I didn't bother.

Probably the best section in Dobbies is the butcher’s, very friendly and produce is of high quality. A bit like an indoor market with the franchises here, would be nice to see less high street and more independents. Not tried the cafe, looks quite dark.

Had a lovely afternoon tea in the cafe today 5/08/24. I’d made a mistake ordering on line but Chris sorted it out without any problems. Cakes, savoury’s and tea very nice.

A lovely, surprising hidden gem we discovered recently after moving to the area - the staff were all very friendly and helpful, they had a wide range of outdoor & indoor plants, as well as garden furniture and all the ornaments & pots you could possibly need. Plus it's got a huge Café, as well as a WHSmiths, a Pro Cook shop, a Pavers Shoes, a Mountain Warehouse and a Waitrose with fresh meats & deli counters. We've been twice now (both weekend trips) and given the size of it we were astonished that it wasn't busier. If you get a chance, check it out before all the crowds find out it's here!

Nice place, plenty of selection. It's a bit pricey 😡 The cafe is sooooooo slow. 20 minutes to get a cup of tea!! This is not a one-off either. Each of the last 3 visits has been the same. Plenty of staff but headless chickens come to mind 🙄☹️😤😤

Easy to park, and lots of availability in the actual garden centre. Cafe was a massive disappointment. Food was way below par, none of us ate it all. Very overpriced-£40 for 2 adult meals, 2 drinks and 2 sides. Will not be returning to use the cafe!

We went here for the crazy golf, it was really fun the 18 holes took around 40/50 minutes. We arrived at 11.30 just before quite a few people so I'd expect some waiting around the course. Great fun for the whole family for a decent price.

Garden Centre with restaurant and cafe as well as franchises including WH Smith, Pavers, ProCook etc.

Dobbies has been my favourite place for many years. An abundance of well kept flowers, shrubs and trees, plus a super coffee shop and restaurant. Take all this and then add facilities such as in house shops including Waitrose, their deli that serves one of the best pork pies around, finish it up with books, magazines and papers then you have a truly winning combination. Oh, and don't forget the fish supplies and pet items, I could go on and on! Go and find out yourselves.

The garden centre itself is very lovely and there are plenty of other shops inside to browse in, no issues with this. The low score however is for the restaurant service. I went for breakfast with a friend and after 30 minutes of being served, we had still not received our food. My friend asked one member of the staff if he could check to see if our food would be much longer and he didn't even bother to go and check. I asked a different staff member and she mentioned they were short staffed so everyone is having to wait for their food, not just us! We had however seen other families come in well after us that were getting their food so we felt we had every right to be annoyed. After almost 50 minutes our food finally came out which we were not happy with. I can appreciate it if a place is understaffed but if we had been told that and that there would be delays in food coming out we could have easily changed our order or gone up to the counter and got something. I would happily come back to the cafe as the food/drinks are lovely but I will not be using the table service again!

More non garden stuff than I would like but all well displayed and plenty of variety

We really like this garden centre, the range of products and services are plentiful. The only complaint I have is from the staff who serve in the restaurant. We've been there more than a couple of times lately and the the restaurant staff are not rude, but not friendly, there whole demeanor is stand offish, it's a shame.

Arrive for a coffee this morning Sunday 28th July about 11ish finally got our 2 coffees 25mins later served by staff that looked as though they really didn't want to be there, we decided to sit outside as it was a beautiful sunny morning, bearing in mind the time the tables outside were littered with trays, plates and cups and saucers and the floor hadn't been swept from the day before with drinking straws,cans and cartons and serviettes laying around, we went to find a member of staff but this fell on deaf ears as 45 minutes later nothing had been done to sort, why are you offering a service you clearly can not manage.

We only go to mainly use the cafe with our Dobbies pre paid coffee card bought for us by family £15 for 2 coffees a month and free birthday cake for 2 on your birthday the toilets and seating area are spotless clean and staff are friendly and helpful ,large car park and EV charge points ..

Variety is always good. Plants, seeds and bulbs are good quality. They have a variety of garden furniture and accessories but are expensive for what they are. If you don't mind waiting, have a shop online. Staff are helpful and the addition of Waitrose is what the place needed to make it a one stop shop for essentials too. The butcher's (Walter Smith) are brilliant. For value for money, they are the best around and always have excellent cuts on show. If you want specifics and volume, I call them a few days ahead and its always sorted. Took away a star for the food hall. Good food at good prices but the queues are always long and slow. Even on a mid-week visit it isn't great. Weekends they seem understaffed but still work hard to get everyone through. Still, 20-30 minutes stood in a queue with the kids isn't ideal. Ice cream van that is outside at the weekends is the best around by far. Very reasonable prices but the quality is immense. Great variety and lovely service. Would love to hire them for parties and events.

Went looking for an idea for sheds. Good choice but a bit pricey. Brought 2 nice hanging baskets tho.

Great place to de-stress. Awesome plants, fish shops, clothes, and shoes. Recommendable Restaurant.

Not much to say really it's a garden centre. Tables were cleared and chairs and floor could do with a clean.

Bit pricey, sometimes there offers don't go through at the till & you often don't get the free drink with the 'dobbies card' which is rubbish.....

First time going to this dobbies, and I was very impressed with how many different companies they had inside. Very helpful and useful for everyone. They also have a mini golf area.

Good store, it's nice that you can buy fish and fish tanks, there is also a Mountain Warenhouse store, a large selection and a lot of discounts. Next to the store there is also a place where you can donate clothes to charity.

Absolutely the worst place ever to try and eat. You queue for ever as the service is beyond slow. We went back today to give them yet another chance for some breakfast which is meant to be served until 11.30am. Arrived at 11am, left waiting to be served so had to find someone only to be told they have 'sold out' of breakfast! Don't waste your time going unless you have 2 days to wait to not get any food!

Twice in a row we have visited with small children & guests, only to be told they aren't serving food (during the advertised food times). Staff not particularly friendly and no apologies offered. We will avoid from now on and visit somewhere more reliable (we've driven across the road to the Hartford Mill instead both times which has been great).

Used to be a lovely garden centre, not so much of late. The service in the cafe, even midweek at 10am is shocking. Queued for nearly 25mins while staff members just stood around literally doing nothing. We found the staff in the garden centre were also slow and quite unhelpful.

We went here today and the staff are super lovely, the food was amazing. Mandy is the nicest colleague that works there, she is so nice and always tells you the best deals

Usually go to Dobbies in Peterborough and they are very similar but the restaurant in Huntingdon falls far behind Peterborough.

Cake was nice and the decor is good in the coffee shop, but the service is really poor and the cleanliness leaves much to desire. Trays are left on tables for hours which leaves new patrons nowhere to sit or resorting to try and clean your own area as much as possible to find a gap. If they want you to clear up like many other places do, then at least put trolleys out to collect the dishes and bins. 4 -6 staff all behind the counter all doing everything at a snails pace resulting in a long queue. Literally dumped slice of cake on plate smearing have the icing down the side and bottom of the plate thinking it is acceptable to serve a paying customer like that. Staff all looks grumpy and not welcoming. Definitely need better management and training of staff and some cleaning staff.

The food hall has some of the best meat and pies you could hope to find and they are of a good quality and price. 23/11/23 Finally managed to get a breakfast here, as often we come it is closed or the restaurant is full. The full breakfast was Ok, unfortunately they hadn't got any sausage in stock so had to have extra bacon, which was then missed off the plate by the kitchen, luckily the waitress serving was really good and very helpful so she sorted it out.

Car park pretty full because of half term. Weather perfect. Plenty of garden goodies and more! Tea, coffee and grand selection of cakes and other yummies. Very glad for good company on my trip, most enjoyable alround.

Very poor! We turned up for lunch at 1.50pm (they stop serving at 3pm) and were seated. Only to be told they had stopped serving lunch early as the manager said so. This is the third time it has happened to us here. Last time it was breakfast they stopped serving early. Shocking service.

Reasonable selection of shops and goods, but the restaurant is a disaster. Twice visited, first time the staff were rude, second time we were told there would be an hour wait because they had a party in. The restaurant was just about empty!

lovely garden center, went to the cafe for lunch with family. got seated after about 5 minutes of waiting which wasn’t bad at all. drinks come as they are, not cold and no ice offered or anything which i thought a bit strange. service was okay - no complaints there. i had the bacon, brie and cranberry toastie on brown bread as they had ran out of paninis. it was pretty delicious and the bacon was cooked really well, however the amount of salad you get on the side is paltry and left my plate looking quite empty and sad! if you go, bear in mind that they don’t serve main meals until 12.

Fantastic place to go, staff are always helpful and friendly. Cafe is always above expectations. Brilliant for a day out with the kids

Met family for lunch. Light menu. Drinks were not cold which I prefer (cans poured into glasses). Value for money 50%. Nice ambience, dog friendly, garden centre is large and well stocked with a variety of sections from arts and crafts to fish, candles to food hall.

Great cafe. Friendly staff, fair portions/price/quality. Free WiFi but you do have to sign in with social media e.g. Facebook. Lots of parking

Service is non existent. Waited to be seated as per the sign and we were ignored by staff. Sat down ourselves and ignored further so we left. There was enough staff, they just don't know what they're doing. Don't waste your time. Update May 2024 - came in for my free birthday drink and cake... nothing has changed, service is painfully slow because of lack of staff and inefficiency of those staff who are here. I'm sure management have a "this is fine" attitude.

Quite short of veg plants today and some very dry, deli area busy. Think there may be better centres nearby.

Arranged to meet a friend for coffee at 4.30 after work, checked opening times and cafe closes at 5.30 so perfect! However, at 4.30 we were told that the cafe was closed so we sat down in the restaurant briefly to catch up and someone came over and said we could have something from the fridge if we wanted…….I would suggest that the website is updated asap so that other people do not make the journey and make alternative arrangements. Very frustrating!!
