Very sad place. Everything looks cheap and nasty. Except the food is not cheap... £9.50 for a prawn or chicken baguette, err no thanks. The £4 slice of cake tasted factory made, yuck. Cheap chair and tables. Won't be going back.

Dobbies must be in its death throes I was actually shocked about the state of the place we stopped off for a coffee nice bit of cake and look at some plants. Entering the store we see a vast swath has been cleared to accommodate the Christmas tat and it’s just generic crap. The cafe was just horrendous the sandwiches and rolls looked like a child had made them I’ve seen better offerings in the nursing home when I visit my gran. £3.25 for a pathetic dried up nibble of Bakewell slice or £4 for a slice of cake that’s been bought in from a wholesale supplier. The coffees are ok but half filled cups and ridiculous price you can just forget it. The seating area is just a bomb site strewn with food waste on tables and floor, we chose to sit in the dog friendly area and it’s just dawned on my why it was a cleaner area because the dogs are cleaning up. So went to look for plants the smell outside is wild a popped sewer? Someone die from eating in the cafe and body not found? And there’s hardly any plants to choose from, I felt sorry for the plants there all looking really uncared for. The play area has been tapped off for safety so really gives it that post apocalyptic feel. Back inside migrating towards the exit see that they now sell groceries, Waitrose ay the prices are wild! £9.99 for 4 neck oil IPAs it’s £7.50 in Tesco which is basically next door. However I am glad I went I can now warn people not to go there ever. I don’t know how things got this bad it used to be a great place with lovely cakes, coffees and plants. It’s a literal dump right now.

To break quite a long journey we pulled into this branch of Dobbies, we do visit other branches on a semi regulator as I'm a discount card member. Anyway the garden centre area was fine but they have serious issues in the cafe! Unbelievably poor and slow service and the cleanliness wasn't fantastic! The family getting served before us brought their food back to the counter with an issue, the chef came out and explained that the quality of the food supplied by Dobbies wasn't great and basically it's as good as it gets 😂 On talking to a lovely staff member we were told the problem is they can't get staff as it's not a nice place to work, sounds like an issue with the local management. In a nutshell lovely garden centre but terrible cafe.

Popped in to Dobbies Perth yesterday for a breakfast & was very disappointed, cooked breakfast food on offer & on view looked poor, the waitress serving was slow, after viewing what was on offer I opted for toast with beans on top , she didn’t butter the toast just plonked the beans on top, I then asked for a bacon roll you get 3 items but as I said nothing else looked appealing so opted for 2 portions of bacon & a mushroom , the 2 portions of bacon were put on a dry roll , again no butter , I had to stop her & say should it not be buttered? She then buttered it but the 2 tiny pieces of bacon were overbooked , fatty & lukewarm & hard , the mushroom was a quarter of a large mushroom & again lukewarm , coffee was fine , when I went to sit down in the dog friendly area it was dirty & the walls had paint flaking off, overall feel of the place is that it’s not getting the attention it should & lacking management? Not a nice environment to spend over £15 on 2 light breakfast items & I certainly wouldn’t recommend or go back again

Come on Dobbies .. you used to be the place to go for good food .. it’s not rocket science is it ! toilets are filthy , no decent gifts there to buy now and really run down .. disaster of a place ..

Am a regular customer at Dobbies but the last 6 months or so has seen the restaurant go right downhill with the actual restaurant being always piled up with dirty dishes. Ive previously had high teas here and they always prepare the table and make it look nice so I booked three High Teas, two days in advance for a birthday surprise. We arrived today to find there had been no table prepared. I spoke to a staff member in the restaurant who said just to try and find a table just now, I then saw him having an animated discussion with one of the kitchen staff who kept shaking her head. He then tried to take our orders and I explained again we had booked three High teas and didnt need to order. The staff member admitted that although the booking was visible on their system nobody had checked the bookings that morning and therefore there wasn’t anything arranged and they did not have the produce for a high tea. He had intended trying to cobble together a few traybakes and a sandwich. He then offered a refund. There is clearly a staffing issue if kitchen staff are not even checking their bookings. The birthday surprise was ruined and we wont be back in any shape or form and I will be cancelling my card there.

Just been to Dobbies Garden Centre Perth for coffee. Six of us meet there on a regular basis. Recently the food has been terrible but today we could not eat our scones. They were hard ,tasteless all in all not good. The coffee was cold the cappachino my friend could not drink cold with too much chocolate. Two days ago two of us had macaroni cheese which was ok but the side salad was old the lettuce was curled up and there was a little bit of onion not a salad in my eyes. The prices have recent gone up and so has our membership which I would not mind but the food is well below standard now The ladies toilets were dirty and smelt of urine. This is not the first time I spoke to a member of staff before as three toilets were unusable due to their dirty condition. The whole store is dirty with a dirty paper hankie which has been lying on the floor since my last visit. The carpets are suck down in places with plastic tape a trip hazard. Please can we have the old Dobbies back clean nice food.

This restaurant has gone very badly down hill. Afternoon visit for tea and a scone was not great. Scone fell apart when trying to put butter on, that was after we finally found a table amongst the dirty uncleared tables. Dishes piled up by other visitors having to clear a table themselves. Place was generally not clean. Cutlery trays were full of crumbs, unfortunately not cutlery which we had to ask for. Disappointing as this was the go to place when we visit Perth.

As we were in Perth, we decided to go out to Dobbies for coffee and a cake. We had heard that it was very good and it was. It was much better set out than our local one. We were very impressed and had a walk round the whole building. The clothes section was very well laid out and we bought a few items. On then entering the cafe area, we saw al the cakes were very nicely set out and most inviting, so we decided to have a piece of blueberry cake. The coffee was good and very hot. The cafe was well set out with ample space between the tables. On using the toilets, I found they were spotless. There is a large car park available for clients.

Would not recommend. Arrived for breakfast and from the beginning it was a disaster. Breakfast is displayed on the counter but its a set menu and wasn't allowed to swap items that I didn't like. Once I received the breakfast I was then waiting for a coffee, service was ridiculously slow, staff are extremely unwelcoming & rude. by the time I got my drink and paid my breakfast was cold, the coffee was horrible, it tasted very weak and milk was burnt. Spoke to a younger gentleman about my issues & his response was to blame the way the restaurant works, completely ignoring the comments about service and the coffee, I ended up having to go elsewhere for my breakfast. My previous visits were a delight, lovely staff, fast and friendly service, was always greeted with a "good morning". Its the complete opposite now and I will not be returning.

Arrived for breakfast. Good selection of cakes, tray bakes etc. on display. Also a varied choice of Baguettes (but not served till 11.30am). There is a good choice of hot breakfast items however……by the time you wait in the queue for your hot drink…..then pay….your hot breakfast is only luke warm at best. When I say queue, if there are more than two folks in front waiting for drinks your breakfast will be cold by the time you make it to a table. Add insult to injury, two cafe members of staff (one senior) stood chatting at the entrance to the cafe. Neither took it upon themselves to help their colleagues to serve the customers more efficiently. Dobbies Cafe really needs to up its game. Sadly when my Dobbies membership expires I shall not be renewing. There are plenty of other good quality breakfast venues in Perth.

My Mum, my young lab and I visited Dobbies Perth today for some lunch. We had the soup which was really very tasty. The restaurant staff were so friendly and a number of them came out to say hello to my dog. It was so nice to feel welcome with your dog! Just one negative is that the shop has gone downhill, not nearly as well stocked nor with the same variety or quality of stock that it used to offer. But we will definitely be back to the restaurant again soon.

My husband and I have been frequent customers of Dobbies Restaurants for many years and are extremely disappointed in the drop in standards over recent months. On 13th June we called in to Perth for coffee and scones however the scones were very small and looked unappetising! We spoke with a member of staff who stated that recent management policy had been to reduce costs across the board. While we were there another customer returned their cream scone as it was 'inedible' and the supervisor agreed that it was not acceptable. Other issues included there being no teapots, uncleared tables and lack of cutlery. It was noticeable that the numbers of customers was less than expected. Sadly this drop in standards does not seem to be confined to Perth as we had a similar experience in Stirling recently.

Visited Dobbies Perth today with my colleagues for lunch. There was only 2 things on the menu for vegans: one was not available and the other was quorn sausage and chips for just under £11. We went out for a special lunch (not unhealthy fake sausage and chips). Surely they could have come up with something a bit more inspiring and tasty. Also l'm not a child - that's what you'd expect on a child's menu. There was not even a vegan soup option! The server did not seem too bothered about making up something from the salad bar so I ended up sitting at the table with my colleagues drinking a small coffee while they all had their lunches. They were so apologetic while they eat. It was too late for us to get our lunch somewhere else. I was so embarrassed. In this day and age where plant based/vegan is so widely promoted as one means of saving the planet then surely a company such as Dobbies should be embracing this? I won't be back and I'm pretty sure my colleagues said they won't be back either. In fact both of them complained about the poor quality of their food too. Also, the toilets were filthy - all dirt and dust on the floor around the toilets. All round bad experience.

Clothing assistant seems rude and unhelpful. Upon my partner trying something on and deciding the style was not for him, they grunted and seemed dissatisfied. Usually staff would ask if there is anything else they could help with/offer any other options however this was not an offer extended to us. Also the receipts do not give the current points total - why?

Restaurant was almost empty (unusual for such a place on a Sunday lunchtime) - we should've taken the hint! Had to queue three separate times to buy 1 coffee, one can of juice and two slices of cake. There were plenty of staff, just not doing much of anything in a lot of cases, not even acknowledging we were there. Their one coffee machine wasn't working (but they did have 4 signs saying there was no hot choc either) so we had to queue for the self-service coffee machine (again, only one) and the staff stood behind the coffee counter watching the elderly couples who couldn't figure it out for a while. Paying was also an ordeal with the non-coffee-making staff taking their time discussing logins and not letting on we were there. On the plus side, the cakes were nice.

Dropped in for breakfast on a trip North. To start no bacon, no fried eggs no China for tea or coffee!!! Paper cups only!! Finding a clean table, major task!! Either they hadn’t been cleared and obviously not cleaned either. Perhaps that was the reason for paper cups?? We had to clear a space and use wipes to clean the surface!!! Food only edible being almost lukewarm at best, the small bit of mushy tomato was slightly warmer, toast was brick hard!!! Staff at the service area, well there was enough of them but let’s leave it at that!! Will bypass on any future trips unless I read something good about this place. Recently visited dobbies for some lunch as I do a couple of times a month. I was shocked by the attitude of one member of staff, raising her voice at other members of staff, this should not be done around customers, maybe behind closed doors would have been better, food was good as usual, just would like to see a change in the staffs attitude & faster service!

He usado Dobbies a menudo, especialmente sus restaurantes.

A chance to buy some lovely plants for the garden and to have coffee and cake. For me an amazing Victoria sandwich of three levels and flavoursome rapsberry jelly layers. My friend had the lovely looking strawberry tart. she said the pastry was just right. The coffee was excellent.

Not a bad place to stop for a coffee and if its convenient for you journey to take a stop here then do but its not great or special. Toilets made up for the average coffee.

Very average food, but a convenient location to catch up with a friend. Lunch time, 1 member of staff on the till, although there were 3 tills. We queued so long to pay, the food was cold by the time we got to the table. Freshly cooked ham, egg and chips, took time to prepare and was ready at the same time I got to the table.....

We had the Chicken, Ham, and Leek Pie. It was very tasty, however a bit overdone with a thickness of the pastry. The cheesecake was very good. With a lovely pot of tea.

The restaurant staff really deserve a big thank you they work very hard & do an excellent job especially when large groups arrive by coach. On Saturday they happily served three coaches within an hour most of the staff missing their breaks to do this.. Big thank you to everyone. Food very good & reasonably priced. Plenty seating & tables cleaned regularly. Overall Excellent.

Today, i ordered in Dobbies Ham and Eggs and Chips...What came: 4 slices of Ham (two would have been plenty), straight out of the packet, i.e. Ice cold, two fried eggs, rock hard, nearly dusted out of my ears and chips, which, no doubt, had been kept "warm", since they were soggy and lukewarm.

Only one redeeming thing was the price, a traditional and wee breakfast and two pots of tea, just over £14. Items had obviously been lying on hot plate for sometime, fried egg inedible, toast cold, I could go on. I would suggest a radicle change, better quality produce and more frequent cooking if it. We won’t be back!

Food suffered from being on the cool side. Always a problem with hotplate servery. Toast again cold. £5 for Traditional breakfast - Ok but I left half of it because it was too cold to enjoy

My husband and I go to Dobbies onec a month and always enjoyed the 7 item breakfast. You could chose the items you liked from a great selection. On our recent visit we were disappointed to find the menu has changed. It is set breakfast choices I asked if I could swap a couple of items to be told no I could only swap 1 item. I was then told toast is not included with the small breakfast. Don't think we will be going back as there are loads of restaurants nearby that allow you to decide what you want on your breakfast

If you are passing on the A9 do call in your morning, lunch or afternoon sustenance. You will not be disappointed. The food is well presented and delicious. It is definitely a five star garden centre restaurant.

We enjoyed two excellent dinners at the Terrace Restaurant. A special mention for our young server Harry who provided excellent and friendly service he was open he was a recent start but his desire to be the best he could be shone through and he had a very positive personality which made the whole experience very enjoyable. Management take note he is a keeper!

Avoid at all costs, I asked for a carrot cake to be heated( I have done this numerous times before) first guy said we can’t (I think he was training- so no problem) other guy said yes let me take it for you. The coffee took 5 to 10 minutes so carrot cake was cold, I asked for a re-heat and was refused after spending £18 plus for 2 coffees and 2 cakes. He said the chef recommended it cold - I can’t eat cold cake as it’s too dry and I have no saliva due to cancer treatment - do I feel like explaining this, no. I was here to collect a winter coat, I treat myself to something every year, never will I frequent House of bruer again, extreme reaction ? - No. I said to coffee guy I’ll speak to manager he replied “good luck then sir” I’m fuming.

I would give two stars for the food and one star for table etiquette. We were unimpressed when we sat down to a table setting of basic low-quality, stamped-out flatware with sharp edges. Three of us ordered meat (duck, pork and beef), the other fish. No alternative, appropriate knives were brought to suit the food, nor was the cutlery replaced after the starter. There were splotches of dried food debris on the underside of all the placemats, which apparently never gets wiped off when they are stacked. The food itself was okay, but portions were on the small side and overpriced for what it was, e.g. two slices of duck breast, 1" slice of sea bass, very little vegetable to accompany. The chicken liver parfait starter was good but came with only three small slices of toasted baguette and bread was £6 extra. There was an abundance of wait staff operating on high-speed settings. We had trouble understanding what kept so many staff on the run (literally) given the restaurant was not full and could have been disruptive were it a romantic dinner for two. We just watched the show. Overall, a four-star restaurant should pay more attention to detail, quality and cleanliness, if it wants to have a four-star reputation.

Last time I was here the fish and chips was really good. Afraid to say this time my wife had the fish and chips and it was cafe standard at best. I had the mac and cheese and I have to say this was the worst mac and cheese I have ever had in my life. Microwaved with what little sauce there was at the bottom of the bowl. The parmesan was probably fresh about a week ago and been sitting out since then. We won’t be bac. Pity as we are local. Staff (waiter, bar staff and receptionist) were pleasant enough though and can’t fault them at all.

We had an enjoyable lunch at the Bein Inn. My partner said his burger was good, his purple coleslaw looked appealing and I have to say his chips (something neither of us is fond of) were probably the best we've had. I ordered a chicken fajita, which was the most unusual I've ever had: *everything*, including the rice (either pilau or basmati, not long grain as I'd expect), wrapped up in one big dod with three sauces on the side. It tasted fine and was filling, but looked tragi-comical. The young waitress warned us they had no avocados, but on questioning thought they may have guacamole; however it was substituted with some kind of chutney, which was ok if unconventional. On the plus side, it all seemed to have actually been cooked rather than banged into a microwave, which we appreciated. The service was good and friendly, and our food arrived in a timely manner, noting that we arrived at the beginning of Friday lunchtime when it was quiet. We're not in a hurry to go back, as the menu was limited and a bit overpriced, at least for my weird offering at £17. There seemed to be some renovation work going on in the entrance area, all good, but didn't add to the ambience. We'd originally looked into this for a Sunday lunch, which seems popular with others, would possibly try it for that in future.
