I went there with my 2 daughters for a nice meal! Well it was far from it , I had a king prawn puri which turned out to be pieces of fat not resembling a prawn! Because I was hungry I went safe by ordering a chicken tikka but the chicken was like rubber and my daughters dishes was the same and they was even apologetic I will never set foot in there again absolute dog sh_t

Lovely Indian food. We have the prawn purée to share.. Really tasty. My partner has the chicken madras and I have tried the chicken patia and Rogan josh. Flavours have real depth and are so tasty. Wine is very reasonably priced and Mr Kay is very welcoming. Definitely our new local Indian restaurant… Suzanne & Colin

Our first time here and it was fantastic and certainly a 10/10. The food was just perfect, well presented, good size portion and hot. The waiters were so attentive and polite. We were served by Mr Kay who was really kind and made us feel very welcome. I definitely recommend the lamb shashlik with pilau rice. We ate everything up and left feeling nice and full. We are going back next month and this is now my favourite Indian restaurant. Thank you guys!

Tonights experience not so good. They were busy. Waited an hour and 15 minutes for starters. Asked for the banquet menu and waiter suggested the 30% off deal instead but would have to pay with cash. We said no we wanted the banquet menu as we know it works out cheaper and we wanted to pay by card. When the bill came he said "I gave you a discount" which was the 30% he'd offered before. Went to the till to pay and was told it was cash onky. We said we opted for Banquet. Bill was thrn changed and cheaper than the 30% as we knew it would be. Food was ok but onion bahji's weren't fresh. Peshwari Naan had little filling. The rest was good but me and my friends won't be returning which is a shame as I've been had a good experience previously.

Went for Father's day today. We went for the buffet which is 1-8pm. We like the timing session as we wanted to have dinner and most Indian buffets are usually from 12-3pm. So that was a plus for us. The restaurant itself isn't a big one, it's more on the smaller scale. The decor was nice quite modern with a few water features. The buffet price was not bad Adults £12.95 Children under 12 £8.95 The food was tasty. Not the biggest variety but enough. Poppadoms and drinks are paid for separately. Half a pint of juice (apple) £2.50 A pint of soft drink (7up) £4.50 Overall it was nice and defo worth going back. Which we will at some point.

Having lived in the area for a long time we had previously been to this well established restaurant some time ago.Since then it has been refurbished and updated and the tasteful decor was complemented by the warm welcome and friendly service. The food served on the Banquet Night was well prepared, authentic and delicious. The quantities were very generous and the Peshwari naan ,which is my favourite ,particularly good. A return visit will definitely be scheduled.

Terrible first time ordering! I ordered online, email confirmation of order accepted and would be up to 45 mins (I live about a mile away). Arrived well within time, the driver reversed onto the drive and opened his hatchback and took the bag out of a cool / warm box. I said to him is everything nice and warm? “It is” he replied, seemed a nice chap, I paid cash and said keep the change. On opening the bag there was no Peshwari naan ? My online record of the order confirmation shows I ordered one. The food was cold, flavourless and disappointing! I rang the restaurant and they didn’t seem to helpful, they said that they would deliver a naan and would just take my word for it that I ordered one ? Then they were talking in the background and then said the chef is still cooking my order and it hadn’t even Been delivered yet? Totally fed up and having paid cash I certainly not going to be paying again for a second order of cold food! It’s all gone in the bin ! We’ve all had good and bad experiences in the past but this was a total waste of time for me. I won’t be ordering again and will be sticking to my regular “iNaga” in Coney Hall (it’s only because they were fully booked for deliveries that I tried another local company in the first place).

So been getting take aways from here for years, but thought as it's the sons birthday we would eat in....never again They charge £4.50 for a pint of coke..yes you read that right £4.50 per pint, but get this they get it from a 1.5 litre bottle.... And if you want a can well that will set you back £2.50 WHAT A JOKE. So a family of 4 having a pint of coke each is £18 on your bill DISGUSTING You can buy a 1.5 litre bottle of coke for about £1 And to think if you have 2 drinks each £36 added to your bill just for 8 pints of coke £36 is the price of an average meal....DISGUSTING DAY LIGHT ROBBERY.

The food was bland and not all nice. We did not get some food we had ordered but were charged for it, and we were charged for some food we hadn't ordered! It all seemed random. Been coming here on a semi-regular basis several times a year for the last 20 years or so - nothing wrong with the food (it’s bog standard Indian food to be honest, solid but nothing special) but the last couple of times, the service has been distinctly lacking in efficiency and class. Plenty of other Indian restaurants within walking distance (the Indian Diner is far better imho) - I recommend people in West Wickham are a bit more careful about where they go if they want Indian food.

We have been here several times over the years and had a number of takeouts (which don't disappoint) but our recent visit here was not great. It seemed that the two waiters were not coping with the small number of clients. There was always an older man who had his eye on how things were running but he was not here and it lacked his overview. The food was ok, nothing special but the couple alongside us were offered coffee and complimentary drinks but we were offered nothing after the main meal so asked for our bill. It was not the standard of past visits unfortunately so we will likely only use it for takeouts from now on.

Been eating at the Diwana in West Wickham for over 12 years now and seen big changes in the décor twice now, and Head waiter Surav has always been front of house and still is presiding over the most amazing makeover in the last couple of years! The owner Alli has retired now and his 2 grandsons have taken over the running of the Diwana, and all dishes are still well presented and full of the right ingredients and flavours. The banquet nights from Sunday - Thursday are great value offering poppadum, starter, main course, any rice or Nan bread and a vegetable dish and an Ice cream or coffee, all for £13.95with no restrictions on prawn and king prawn and other fish dishes like some Indian restaurants do.You can go out with friends for a lovely meal, and you know exactly what the cost will be. We always leave a good tip for the staff as they always work extremely hard to make us welcome and nothing is too much trouble.A drink of your choice on the house is always offered, which is a nice gesture, and although situated on a red route, you can park on the single red lines from 7 p.m. onwards without any problems and there is also a huge car park up the High Street behind Carpetright There are about 6 curry houses in the High Street, but the Diwana will always be the one for us! Keep up the good work Surav and the boys !They do deliveries and takeaways, but you need to eat in to experience the real deal.Phone 0208 777 7159 / 6399

Although the curry house is out of my way I will be going back with some family members. We rocked up on Thursday which turned out to be banquet night, starter, main meal and a vegetable side dish with a pudding if you could eat it for £13.95. All decent size portions and very tasty, in fact you can choose anything of the menu, I would happily recommend these guys.

I frequent this establishment a couple of times a month, since the new Management came on board, the experience is one that you want to experience again.Firstly, the food is AMAZING & of very good quality.Secondly, without even knowing, the Management / Staff keep you wanting more of their fabulous company & food. So very polite and softly spoken throughout the visit, nothing is ever a chore, always able to rustle you up a special dish on request (which has always been outstanding). The newly décor is also very welcoming, a pleasant place to be and eat : )To top this off, they go above and beyond at the end of your meal, treating each customer to a drink of their choice (after submitting the bill)... I always indulge in a large bottle of Cobra for the road (via a taxi of course). If you fancy a take away, swing by and make your order, while you wait they will pour you a cold beer of your choice (again on the house... what great people), you are then left to enjoy the background music and that cold beverage. Finally, they even offer you a discount for collections... win win!!!This place is a MUST!This is the first review I have ever written, but felt is very necessary, these great people are worthy for all to know of the great restaurant they have in West Wickham.Make sure you introduce yourself to the brothers... Great, prompt service and we were warmly welcomed by the staff who were expecting us we booked in advance. Great to see Tiger beer on the beer menu for a change instead of your popular Indian beers such as Cobra and Kingfisher, which are both great, but you would only expect to see Tiger beer in a Chinese restaurant normally, so it's nice to be different from other restaurants. The decoration was pleasant, warm, elegant, welcoming and the staff dressed very smartly and professionally. The choice of dips with the poppadoms were impressive and plentiful with mango chutney, coconut paste, lime pickle, mint sauce, date pickle and onion relish, all very fresh and moreish, in so much that we ordered two rounds of poppadoms and did not need starter! I had a Balti Chicken Dhansak as my main meal, as I had never seen that on a menu before. I was really surprised how tasty it was, with a perfect balance of hot and sour like a Dhansak should be. Normally I dare not go near a Dhansak in any restaurant to avoid disappointment. Dhansaks they take a lot of time to prepare, use lots of ingredients, a hard such a dish to get absolutely right because of the attention to detail required, and it is rarely a signature dish in any restaurant. I really enjoyed this one and was very pleased with it as it was not smothered in chilies to disguise a bad Dhansak, as it was very nice indeed and I could not believe how nice it was. My friends enjoyed a Lamb Bhuna which was equally as delicious which I tasted. When we asked for the bill, I thought it was never going to arrive as the staff made us feel completely unrushed to leave, it felt like we were part of furniture. Nice touch at the end for a free drink on the house, and to confirm the food was that good, my doggy bag was warmly welcomed via my wife's lunch next day, that validates my four star rating. Well done Diwana for being different and serving above average Indian food in West Wickham, someone had to do it soon, so well done and I look forward to seeing you again soon. My compliments to the chef.

My Son booked a table for 12 for Mothers day, this would be our first visit for some time. We used to be "regulars" here a few years back, 1 because of the food, 2 because of the staff, 3 value for money, well none of our party left the restaurant on Sunday wanting to return! On arrival we were told "you have to be out by 3.30pm!..........a very warm welcome, when we were all seated NONE of the staff (and there were plenty) asked if we would like any poppadoms, or even asked us if we wanted drinks!.......one of our party had to ask a "waiter", not a great start. The food was very average, there was some cold potatoes "things" I think they should have been pakoras? these were not "topped up", there was two currys and a massala and a vegetable "stodge" sorry "dish".Anyway we made the best of it as there were three Mums celebrating their day! After a while the staff collected all of our plates (not asking if we had finished!) AND the table mats!....I took this as they wanted us "gone"We asked for the bill, paid and got up to go, NOT one of the "staff" said "thank you" "come again" "did you enjoy your meal?"SO if you are thinking of going for an Indian, I would seriously think again about visiting the very nicely decorated Diwana, (bring back the old place and the old staff) there are some good restaurants local to Diwana where you will get a welcome and some good service.

We have been going to the Diwana for over 20 years and in the past it has been the best curry around. In those days, Ali ran the restaurant with Sourav out front, you were warmly welcomed and the service was excellent. The food was great and the decor not so. But now the decor is modern and swish, the food is still good but the service is very poor. About a month a go we went on a Saturday in a party of 8 and there were plenty of staff on but it seemed an eternity before the orders were taken and the food arrived. We were in there almost three hours and the staff were not that apologetic, having previously not been that welcoming. The new owners spent most of the time behind the bar instead of getting out to check all was well and keeping the waiters on task. This would not have happened with Ali at the old Diwana. So we thought that Sunday buffet would be a better bet and turned up about 4pm. Only three tables taken, with two waiters. We were not offered drinks straight away, in fact I had to go to the counter - nor did the waiter explain the arrangements for the buffet to us or other customers. People on another table had the main menu yet with an empty restaurant they still had to asked to order. At least with the buffet, we could serve ourselves. It is sad to see a place change so much. And no more drinks on the house or loyalty card it seems! Maybe our experiences are just exceptions but the new owners really need to sort out the quality and friendliness of the service or they will lose business to the many other curry houses in West Wickham.

Best Indian food for miles aroundOnly complaints are for takeaways where extra order of coconut chutney is often left outAnd that over the years the korma has got sweeter and sweeter and is now too much for us

Diwana have spent a fortune on a refit, but shot themselves in the foot. The black PVC seating in long rows is like sitting in a Doctors waiting room. All that was missing were last years issues of 'Home & Garden'. Food was swimming in ghee, which was really not necessary. We were the only group in there on a Thursday night, but when I left the curry restaurant next door,'Curry Corner' was packed. Do they know something we don't!!

I have been using Diwana for about 20 years for takeaway and eating in the restaurant. Unfortunately tonight was the last Straw when our delivery failed to arrive after two hours. Very rude staff who said our order had been given to someone else by the delivery driver and it wasn't their fault. Apparently I was lucky he was taking my call as they were so busy. We waited two hours and all he could say was to reorder. So rude and obviously don't need the business at the moment.

I used to use this restaurant at least once a fortnight, until I got horrific food poisoning. No complaints about the food at all, always great.... But on the final visit, at a cost! So bad I visited hospital. I checked 'scores on the doors' report and Diwana scored 1 star = poor. (At the time). They are of course not alone, other 'Indian' restaurants on the high street also do badly. Current rating is 2 stars, so still not safe to eat in. For safer 'Indian' food try Sonargaon or Tandoori knights.

If you want an unpretentious, no frills, tasty & hot curry then this is the place to eat. The staff outnumbered the customers but each waiter was friendly and curtious. Service was efficient and food was hot and tasty. The experience was only spoilt by the tired decor, menus and service china. But do visit as the food outweighed the negatives.

We have had many, many meals and takeout orders from Diwana over several years but this evening we were absolutely appalled with both the food and the staff when dealing with a potentially fatal error made by the restaurant. Our takeout order this evening was the same as always and was dished out as normal. I had not eaten very much when I realised that there was something in my mouth that I did not recognise and asked my husband if he knew what it was. He wasn't sure but thought it was shrimp. On telephoning the restaurant to check what the mystery ingredient was and explaining the situation he was told not to make a fuss as it was a 'free' dish (it wasn't as we only received the number of dishes ordered) and that he shouldn't be complaining! As a vegetarian for over 30 years, I have never eaten shellfish of any description and, as such, have no idea whether I may be allergic to the same. Fortunately, I have had no ill effects from what turns out to be prawn but I dread to think of the consequences had I had an adverse reaction. We returned the food to the restaurant and were given a refund but the staff, including the manager, seem totally oblivious to the potentially fatal outcome that such an error could have. Needless to say, we will not be returning ...

My mum and dad have been going here for years, with me eating here for as long as I can remember! their food is delicious and the Sunday buffet is great value for money and is ideal for people like me who get bored of one big meal and like to have a little bit of everything! I always get take aways and the quality is always the same as when you eat in the restaurant which usually isn't the case in other restaurants as the food is always still hot when it arrives. I would recommend this place as the staff are all very friendly and the food is very tasty

Ordered several times from here and the food is always very nice and not overly expensive. Delivery times are also usually relatively quick and the food always arrives piping hot. No issues at all and overall a reliable takeaway I will continue to use.

The Diwana Tandoori restaurant in West Wickham high street is a long-established business. I hadn't been for years but went with friends at the beginning of February on their 'banquet' night. Had vegetable samosa, tandoori king prawns and garlic and chillie naaan for a tenner!! Amazing value and such friendly, welcoming staff. Nothing was too much trouble. The food was perhaps not as spicy as I would like, but I am sure they would accommodate individual preferences/tastes if asked.

Been going to The Diwana for almost 15 years and there's not an indian restaurant around that matches it for its friendly and kind service. The management haven't changed since i have been going although a few of the waiter staff now work 3 doors along at Curry Corner. It is small and always packed so book in advance for larger parties and at weekends. I've never had a bad experience of this place.

Numerous family trips to this small and cozy Indian restaurant. The food is always tasty and good sized portions. Good deals and special nights mean the bill is always reasonable. Only reservation is it can be a little cramped when busy, but the service doesn't suffer as a result

We have been coming to this place for 20 years and it has always been the best curry house within a 5 mile radius! Always 5*, and despite the length of time, the ownership has not changed and remembers the regulars. Love love love the Diwana.

Such a shame, has changed hands and didn’t like the food. Had a special offer for early diners but even at a cheap price I wouldn’t eat. No flavour, bad taste and a waste of money. So sorry but not my place to go to anymore.
