DISTRICT in Manchester

Interesting atmosphere, very small meals. Using the word Thai in the description is very misleading, there is very little in the meals that represents Thai other than the odd word on the menu. Visited with my wife (Thai national) and daughter we ordered 3 different starters, mains and desserts, other than the desserts and all but one of main the meals were far to salty which obviously was the dominant taste.

Buzzing modern Thai eatery in the Northern Quarter. The menu consists of mostly small plates. The kohlrabi salad had an interesting mix of peanut and fish sauce. The monkfish yellow curry was bursting with Thai flavours. Small pieces of monkfish were topped with slices of perfect scallops and prawns. I had some chicken rice with it. The rice was delicious )although some would have preferred a plain rice to not interfere with the curry.) The pickled and burnt gem lettuce was delicious too! I finished off with the coconut caramel which was a small cube with a delicate hint of tumeric. The service was efficient and the restaurant was buzzing with a large table of Thai customers enjoying themselves. I would definitely return! The bill came to £45 without alcohol. (The reservation required a £20 deposit.)

Back for our second time and it didn't disappoint! Amazing bursts of flavours with cocktails to match and impeccable service. We've already booked again to bring the family next time!

Amazing food, service + atmosphere ! Wasn’t quite sure on food portions or how / what to order! Waitresses really attentive and recommended some amazing dishes. My favourite was the pigeon satay + Iberico pork. Amazing tastes and each dish was better than the previous ! Will definitely be back !

Went to District for dinner and we were blown away. Incredible food, amazing flavours, great drinks, super knowledgeable and friendly staff.

This was our first visit to this restaurant and we didn’t really know what to expect . we had tried to do as much research as possible but nothing prepared us for just how good it was and what a different experience we had. We arrived early on a Thursday evening and it was quite quiet but, by the time we were leaving two hours later it was doing very well indeed. I would recommend booking for sure. We went for the smaller of the two set meals and there was more than enough food. Seven or eight small plates each of unique and interesting Thai themed dishes. From start to finish everyone was fantastic and it was very difficult to pick out a favourite. Thai is easily our favourite cuisine but we had never had food either in this country or in the Far East that was of this quality and depth of flavour. We took advantage of the sparkling water offer and bought some of their bespoke beers. These were fantastic and made a great accompaniment to the food. The restaurant itself is excellent and done out really nicely. The music wasn’t too loud as some people have said and we could easily have a conversation together. The service was spectacular and every dish explained carefully. Everyone we encountered was excellent but a special mention for Faye who was superb from start to finish and really cared that we had a good time. If you get the opportunity, without hesitation I would recommend a visit as soon as possible.

We visited District on a trip to Manchester for our anniversary. We opted for the Discovery menu. This was amazing, each course was delicious. The spice levels and flavours were unlike any Thai food we’ve had before. From the zingy fish starter to the passion fruit desert, each complimented one another. The courses were served with a great intro from the staff , just enough to know what each was but not OTT as some tasting menus often are. The service is friendly and organised, never missing a trick. Water topped throughout and courses held when we nipped to the loo etc. It was a lovely touch to be given a glass of bubbles and an additional desert to mark our anniversary. This really topped off an outstanding meal. The setting, music and staff were great. District is such a fab experience, don’t expect a luxurious setting, this is an other worldly dystopia and was right up our street. We will remember the unique flavours and setting and the thoughtful gesture for years to come. We’ll be recommending to all our friends visiting Manchester. Thank you District!

Its really not what you get at a normal Thai restraunt , its better. Modern funky food in a modern funky place. There were 2 waitress's who were really invested in the place helpful chatty and nice, there is music and its a little bit on the loud side but not too bad and I hate loud music these days. They do have a weird booking system where you pay upfront including the tip, which nearly put me off booking at all but I did and Im glad I did.

This was quite possibly the best meal I’ve had for Years. The food was sublime. Every course was a hit. Flavour bomb after flavour bomb. The drinks also a hit. Not often you get amazing cocktails as well as food but this ticked every box. Big shoutout to the staff especially Faye and Kate. They were professional but also friendly attentive and fun. We live in Cambridge these days and to come back to Manchester and get such perfect service was the icing on the cake. We also regular frequent Michelin star restaurants and this is well up there!! Thankyou all. We will be back for sure!!!

Amazing experience from start to finish. Every course packed a flavour sensation and service was brilliant. Really nice atmosphere and a fab sound track to top it off. Brilliant!

Just had the most stunning meal at District. Everything was spot on: great ambiance, excellent food, fantastic cocktails and awesome staff. If we still lived in Manchester this would be our new favourite haunt for sure!

Really lovely food and service Distinctive Thai flavours without being too fiery Small plates all done precisely with finesse and presented beautifully Raw bass then not tacos super starters pork and chicken skin rice top notch. The only dish that was spicy hot was the kohlrabi. Decent parfait to end with good local ipa beer and 5 wine options by the glass. Just round the corner from Flok Will recommend

Do not miss it. Absolutely amazing. Food is phenomenal, staff are lovely and atmosphere is great. Worth every penny. The flavours and the combinations are spectacular. We had the taster menu, I recommend you book in advance as some items are only available for booking.

My favourite meal out Iv had in Manchester! EVER From the aesthetic to the atmosphere, the music, the staff and the food, oh my god the food! Me and my fiancé couldn’t talk about anything else! Inbetween satisfied nods and smiles at each other as we ate each course! Had the six course wish had done the 12. Favourite was the chicken coconut curry and the sea bass with the hot sauce and Thai basil! Insanely talented chefs 🤌🏽

Amazing tasting menu for lunch - absolutely lovely dishes for each course!
