Simple, unpretentious decor, unobtrusive service, and plenty of Asian clientele- all good signs. However, if you have food allergies, be VERY CAREFUL here; my dining companion ordered pork and radish dumplings which were mostly full of peanuts, with a strong fish taste too. I'm not sure if he even got the right order, given the ingredients. If not, this was an error that could have potentially landed someone in hospital or worse. If so, then there's a huge discrepancy between the item on the menu, and the reality. I'd strongly recommend all allergy sufferers to make their allergies known BEFORE ordering, and double check the ingredients, which are not listed on the menu. We couldn't help feeling a little let down by expectation v reality, but with such an extensive menu, we'll maybe steer clear of the dim sum next time just in case.

We had a walkout after staying down the front to find a good Chinese restaurant, and we struck Gold. The whole meal came out, piping hot, all tasted fresh, and we left the restaurant so happy. The only disappointment was the heavy rain at the end of the evening, but the kind gentleman organised us a taxi to get us back to the hotel. I wish we lived closer by as we would definitely become regulars.

This is my restaurant to go for authentic tasting Chinese food, by this I don't mean the western style things like sweet and sour and curries. Having lived in China I know what the food should taste like and this is as good as it gets, the dim sum is great and the flavours of the regular dishes are always spot on. On my most recent visit I took work friends to introduce them to the place, we had siu mai, fried radish cake ( luo bo gao) slow cook beef brisket, tripe, fried veg and some rice. We even managed to get the last few egg tarts. If you want to be adventurous and try proper Chinese food I suggest you visit here, if you find you don't like the food it's because of your taste in Chinese, not because of the quality.

Visited Dim sum hut for the second time - it was just as good. Lovely selection of dim sum and traditional Chinese dishes.

The sweet an sour chicken balls had thin soft batter. The house special fried rice, had hard under cooked vegetables, tuff in edible beef, bland and tasteless. The Chicken chow main was tasteless. Sorry to say, the best was the complimentary prawn crackers. Needless to say I won't be returning.

Literally the best fish and chips in Portsmouth and Southsea. Great service from a family run business and consistently the best take away.
