We’d booked a table so we’re seated upstairs in the grill restaurant. I was glad of this as downstairs was a bit dark for me. The service upstairs was exceptional- really attentive and on the ball. The scotch egg starter was lovely .. the burgers were good the chips however were a bit cardboardy and the peas were completely cold.

Came for lunch for the second time at The Grill upstairs - had fish and chips which was okay but the chips were similar to a takeaway shop and not seasoned at all. The service was also very slow and not the most attentive, but the price is decent for what it is. Don’t think I would come back but it’s not bad.

A truly lovely, traditional English pub (full of character and history, dating back to the 1700's!) located 5 mins walk from Tower Bridge. Exceptionally atmospheric & very lively; popular with locals & tourists alike. We entertained ourselves (i.e. my party of 4) over a 'quieter' dinner setting in The Grill on the top floor, rather than in the Tavern Bar - however, these options cater to all needs. Very friendly & highly attentive staff. Delicious & well-portioned meals; I opted for the traditional fish & chips & minted peas, and was highly satisfied with my meal. Other recommended choices included the house burgers and chicken schnitzel. Definitely a venue worth returning to!

Such a shame. 15 years ago loved this place, but now unpleasant staff, really bad food, and 45 minutes to wait for it. Ordered 3 pizzas, all cold on arrival, and one roast cauliflower which was so hard my wife couldn’t cut into it with a knife. Ordered from the qr code at the table which didn’t work, so went to the bar to order which was more expensive!! When I pointed this out to the bar staff, they just shrugged their shoulders. How sad that what used to be such an exellent place with huge food portions, fun staff, and brilliant atmosphere has now turned into this expensive mess. Won’t go back there again.

What a gem of a pub in a brilliant location! The Dickens Inn is a large, characterful spot right on St. Katharine Docks, perfect for a relaxed pint with a view. Had a lovely glass of Orchard Thieves cider—cold, crisp, and absolutely hit the spot. The service was quick and genuinely friendly, which made the whole experience even better. Great atmosphere, plenty of space, and a perfect place to unwind.

Ho cenato nel ristorante The Grill. Consigliato. This is a beautiful pub located within St. Katherine’s dock close to Tower Bridge and the Tower of London. A very busy a popular place to visit particularly in nice weather. The drink selection is vast and despite queues you will not wait long to be served. What lets the Dickens Inn down is the food itself terrible what sounds and reads well is nothing better than I would get at a well known UK pub chain ending in Spoons. For the price I paid for a spicy chicken shawarma I was expecting more and when I say more I mean I received a small portion. I would definitely visit the pub again and would recommend a visit but only for drinks.

Lovely location, the sunday roast was a disappointment, as many other reviews have pointed out. The management should really look into customers' feedback and do something about it. The Dickens Inn has a beautiful historical charm and a great location in St. Katharine Docks, which makes it a lovely place to visit. Unfortunately, the Sunday roast was a real letdown. I ordered the vegan roast, which turned out to be a whole cauliflower that was both undercooked and under-seasoned—bland and difficult to cut through. For the price, I expected something more thoughtfully prepared. It’s a shame because the atmosphere is great, but the food didn’t live up to the setting. Wouldn’t rush back for the roast.

I have never left a review that was negative but I had such a poor experience at The Dickens Inn for the Saturday rugby games. The bartenders were purposely picking people to serve, and ignoring others. My partner and I waited 40 minutes in line, and another 10 minutes at the front trying to get someone’s attention. One woman blatantly looked it as and looked to someone else to serve. (Short brown hair, worst behaviour I’ve seen from bar staff). We ended up leaving. I would not recommend this place for anyone looking for a good bar/game day experience.

The Grill at The Dickens Inn has a rustic ambiance with wooden beams and a cozy atmosphere. We ordered a burger n Seabass fish. The burger was generously portioned and well-cooked, while the seabass was fresh and flavorful, though the bed of vegetables was inconsistently heated, with some parts even cold. Service was good, and the overall experience was pleasant. The starters creamy mushroom w spinach was amazing. However, the apple berry crumble was just average—not particularly memorable. Overall, I’d rate the experience a 3.5 out of 5.

This is one of the BEST pubs in london! I absolutely love taking my friends and family here and it’s always a great experience. It’s in a prime location next to the Tower of London / Tower Bridge and sits hidden just off from the Themes at St Kathryns way. The food here is always very good (classic pub food) and the atmosphere here is great! You’ll meet some great people at this pub, it’s not really much of a locals pub as such as you’ll meet people from all around the world just sat on tables next to you. I tend to have the pepperoni pizza and it’s absolutely delicious. The prices aren’t too expensive either given its location. The service is always excellent and the bar staff are always a pleasure to talk to. This is my favourite London pub and I always recommend it to anyone I know who’s going to London.

Lots of dirty tables when walking through to find a table. Ordered a pizza and loaded fries. The smallest bowl of chips for the price arrived with our pizza. The pizza itself was nice but the egg on the top was raw, still lots of uncooked white. I took it back which they replaced with a new well cooked pizza and a very rubbery over cooked egg. I wanted the runny yolk just not the raw white! Won't be coming back unfortunately.

The entrance boasts "the best Sunday roast in town" - though which town remains a mystery. Externally, the Dickens Inn looks appealing, but the interior disappoints. The atmosphere lacks cosiness, with a cold room and poorly insulated windows that allow chilling drafts. The food falls far below expectations. The Sunday roast is arguably the worst I've encountered. The roast beef was tough and riddled with nerves. Vegetables were barely cooked, particularly the carrots and broccoli. The chicken was chewy, and the fish and chips were equally subpar. Service was imprecise. When we ordered 250ml of wine, only 175ml arrived, requiring us to request the remainder. Desserts came with a custard cream or ice cream option, but the staff arbitrarily served custard cream without asking our preference. I don't think I will dine there again, the city offers much better places than this.

Disappointing Experience at The Dickens Inn (the Grill) The place itself is charming, with a privileged location by the marina. However, my experience as a diner left a lot to be desired. I went on a Sunday with the idea of trying their famous "sunday roast," but I was greatly disappointed. The food was mediocre, a piece of chicken that seemed hastily cooked and mixed with vegetables without much care. The worst part was the service. The waitress assigned to our table seemed disinterested and unwilling to meet our needs. Not only did she have difficulty understanding our questions, but her attitude was quite unpleasant. It's a shame that a place with so much potential is marred by mediocre food and such poor service.
