I love visiting Cleveleys for a stroll along the brilliant promenade and this pub is excellent for a stop off and a good pint!. Its great for those who want live sports, I love the Timothy Taylor Landlord pint but it has a very good selection of beers & lagers. I like the central bar and I'm sure it gets noisy and busy in the evenings and weekends. Don't listen to the miserable people moaning and giving poor reviews, this is a proper pub, serving good beers at brilliant prices, pint of Landlord and Stella for less than £7? please please please open in my village in Lymm Cheshire!!!!. I would be more than happy to watch footie there and enjoy a few pints, even my wife likes the place!!.

Visited this establishment through 2021 and 22. Sampled prior to COVID also. Since under new management there appears to be a new chap on the scene called Craig who is untrained and holds no license (Kelly the licensee does) . Mr Craig appears to possess delusions if grandeur , believing himself to be the mouthpiece of Craft Union , aggressive , loud and running the place into the ground with his inssesant desire to intervene in every conversation and bar patrons left right and centre. Very clickynpub that is uninviting to newcomers albeit Kelly tries hard to maintain the standards of olde. This pub is now under the management of a bald bearded aggressive loud muscle man who runs the pub through intimidation. Food hunters will be equally disappointed as crisps, scratchings and nuts are the only fayre on offer here. Perhaps Mr Craig had a hand in the now defunct kitchen. Don't get us on to false advertising... If football is your cuppa then you might not always get to see your team, unless it's TOTTENHAM, when the sound and pictures are plenty. Of course, guess who's team is Tottenham!! The icing on the cake is the usual and frequent fighting errupting out of this den of inequity due to young drinkers taking that one too many. No worries though, Craig is on hand to punch a few more. This is truly an awful place and craft union really need to get a grip of the management such that a return to the decent standards of pre violence is reborn Sorry 1 star

This place is boring unless you want to watch football or listen to noisy karaoke. Needs to go back to how it used to be 2-3 years ago.

Covid rules were maintained with a clear and obvious entry and exit, my mum is 84yrs, she found her way about. Unfortunately only pizza was available on our visit. We could not have been more welcomed by the staff.

While in the Cleveleys area and late morning I saw The Dickens Inn open and decided to nip in for a break. The landlady or manageress was very helpful at the entrance which had a clear social distancing routine as I entered. She gave me the relevant details on what to do and took my order. As no food was being served at the time I had several bags of crisps with my drink, settled down to take my time to enjoy my break before continuing with more tasks afterwards.Overall, the place was clean, pleasant with a relaxing atmosphere given the difficult times with social distancing, and everyone around seemed pleasant and friendly. A nice place to call in for a drink.

Quick couple of beers after watching football in nearby ex serviceman club. Decent sized pub, mixture of punters, popular, decent selection of drinks, reasonable prices for me being Londoner too.

Nice place and very very well priced. 2.60 a pint of fosters. The only down side is when your sat thee with your pint, some come and polish the tales whilst your sat there, which them makes your drink taste of polish, and back of your throat. Another words it puts you off your drink. I asked one lad and I got accused of havin an attitude, he would of known if I had an attitude, I asked nicely and I'm a customer who pays his wages, so he shouldnt be so arsey. Why polish a clean table and why not do it at the end of the night, or when people have left the area. Otherwise great pub, nice staff, depending on who it is. And great prices. Worth a visit, if there not polishing.

There seemed to be too much going on in here. Music too loud, tellies everywhere, too bright. The only sober people in were us and the bar staff. That said, it was a relaxed atmosphere, no sign of any bother. Once used with the noise you could relax, anyone who spoke to you were polite and friendlyWon't be back though.

Recent change of management has sent this pub back to its bad former incarnation. Crap loud music and flashing disco lights, when all people want to do is have a beer, a chat and watch the football. Lots of customers complaining last night (05/10/19).

Called in while in the area for a pint and enjoyed the stop. Could do with a bit of a refurb but generally pretty decent and plenty of tv screens to watch the football if you’re interested in that.

I hadn't been in The Dickens for a few years until the other day. to say it used to be a bit grotty would be an understatement, so I avoided it. But now, wow what a difference! It's been completely refurbished and has a new landlord. I always said it would be a good pub if 'someone did something with it' and now they have and it is. Paul, the landlord, has a great sense of community too as when I asked if we could hold a fundraising event there he went on to arrange for us to have three! Can't get more of a community pub than that.

imagine advertising bt sports when you point blank refuse to put the commentary on but instead blair music over the football when there are more football fans than neutrals. daft decission considering we were willing to put more money behind the bar than anyone that night... silly way to miss out on business taking in the fact you're a pub landlord...

Friendly, warm, family atmosphere. Sunday afternoon is a good time to visit. Kids allowed, at least up to early evening, as far as I know. There are at least four screens in each corner of the pub to watch sports, mostly football. Comfortable, clean, attractive seating and furnishings, Most people hang around the bar. Service was a bit slow at first but picked up. It mostly comprises of regulars who will make you feel welcome. Pool table.

Pleasantly surprised when first went in to the Dickens...friendly service and nice atmosphere. Sadly, the service went down hill quickly. One of the group ordered Diet Coke and vodka. She returned to the table we were sat at and finished her previous drink before starting her new one...around 5 mins. The coke was flat. When taken back to the bar the barman stated she had had it too long to complain and should expect it to go flat when it's sat there. He became quite rude about it and refused to do anything about it. He then proceeded to have his say and tell locals stood at the bar how unreasonable it was to expect it to be changed making sure it was loud enough for us to hear. Following this a couple of the locals approached us and told us they believed the barman was in the wrong...says it all. Needless to say we finished our (flat) drinks and left and won't be returning anytime soon.

What a disappointment Dickens Inn is. Fabulous town centre location, fabulous building, but the good stops there. Tired inside, tired furniture, no atmosphere, no evidence of food. Wanted a sandwich, told "don't do them". Own brew cask ale good & cheap, but it stops there. Won't be returning unless massive changes made

Fabulous food nice atmosphere and very nice service . I had the ribs with salad and my husband had the steak and kidney pudding. Fabulous home cooked taste . Generous portions and reasonable prices . The halloumi fries were delicious too. It was warm enough to eat outside so that was an extra bonus . Great for a walk of the canal afterwards.

Not much of anything on the shelves and now a lot more expensive then even Morrisons, needs to be taken over by a company that can get it back to how it was.
