Dew Drop Inn in Eastbourne

This is mine and my colleagues' favourite place to go for a burger at lunch. The lunchtime deal is great value for money, and the burgers are incredible. We always look forward to seeing what the "Burger of The Month" is! Do not be fooled by the overall rating, a lot of the negative reviews were during covid or complaining about the head on a pint. The food is definitely a great reason to visit. The staff are very friendly, in particular the manager.

Lovely experience last night. Beautiful calm atmosphere with its unique beautiful interior. We left smiling and full!! Food service was brilliant 👏 Food it self was absolutely delish.... the food combos and flavours of the burgers where spot on and morish. Loaded fries where epic 😋 Cocktails so different and flavoursome Highly recommend- living tequila loca and the - jam shot ! Looking forward to going back 😀

Great choice of beers, enjoyed the Harold's Eye from Battle Brewery. Burgers were epic, perfectly cooked. Loaded fries very good.

A meat eater, a vegetarian and a vegan went out for lunch and we were all delighted!! A friend had come to visit and we wanted to show him Little Chelsea. The Dew Drop is the jewel in the crown. You'd have to go a long way to find a better burger. Sorry no pics because we were all hungry. Friendly staff, comfy sofas and above all it was nice and cosy on a freezing cold day! Top place 😊

I really like this place. A Blue Moon diligently served by a couple of lovely staff to the accompaniment of Alex Reece on the sound system. Great stuff. Oldie worldie and modern marvellousness in one beautifully-smelling package.

Not been in this pub for years, and was glad to see it had not changed that much. Was with a group of old friends and found a big table with comfy seats. It was 2.30pm and the bar was busy, always a good sign. After a couple of beers, took a look at the menu, with the burgers all themed around song titles (bonus points for a Hawkwind inspired burger title!) I ordered a couple of burgers with fries/curly fries that came to £30. Food arrived shortly after and was piping hot and really tasty, best burger I’ve had in a long time! Washed it down with a full afternoon of drinking and left the pub a few sheets to the wind later that evening. Bit of a weathespoons mission to get to the toilets, but there are disabled facilities on the ground floor. A great pub.

We stopped by for a pint and ended up lingering far longer, captivated by the incredible ambiance of this pub. Its prime location and cozy, intimate setting create a truly inviting atmosphere.

Went to this pub with a group of ten colleagues, the youngest of which were in their late twenties. Two of our group got asked for ID and despite showing images of their passports were not allowed to buy a drink. It seemed beyond a coincidence that these two were the only two Asian members of our party. Disappointed to see in other reviews that this is not the first occasion this has happened. Flagrant racism- this spoiled our evening- we won't be returning.

Great pub with a good menu... well as long as you like burgers that is. They have gluten free buns and choices if needed.

Amazing food, drinks and service

The place is lovely both outside and in. We had roast beef and lamb. The meat and gravy were delicious and the veg very nice and fresh. However, that’s were the good points end really. The food came suspiciously quickly like within a few minutes of ordering and there were only 3 potatoes when the meal cost £21 pounds each, which seemeed mean, all of which were overdone and dry. It tasted reheated. The Yorkshire’s also overdone and too hard and dry. The veg for some reason comes as a shared plate for two and there wasn’t enough for two people really. Again mean for the price. No one checked back to see if the food was ok nor when they collected the plates. When we left feedback at the desk when leaving, the staff didn’t Really sound like they cared, although they did promise to pass it on to the kitchen staff. Disappointing on the whole.

£17 just for burger and chips? £17!! Are you serious? If you wanted a pint youd be looking at £21/22.. absolutely ridiculous! Blame 'Inflation' all you want.. that's called greed! You dont need to charging that amount for burger/chips/pint. It's almost actually offensive. I think they over estimate themselves to thinking charging that much is ok. Apart from the extortionate prices... it was clean enough areas, and atmosphere was pleasant, with respectful, and decent bar staff.

My friends and I tried getting in with our valid BRPs (government-valid IDs). However, the guard outside did not let us in and told that we needed either UK driver's license or a UK passport to be able to get in as per the bar policy. My partner and I have visited here multiple times before and this has never happened before. More than a policy issue, it seemed a very race/nationality-based gatekeeping.

Great selection of booze - local real ales, fancy guns etc. Very friendly staff. Gorgeous-looking interior decor. Good outdoor area.

Almost £20 for burger and fries so it's in 5Guys territory.... However, it's just as good! The Chicken or Beef burgers are superb! You will not be disappointed.

I came here twice now and had a good time. Its dog friendly and has a nice outdoor garden. I ordered food which is burgers or wings. The beer selection is great and prices are high average. This place would be great for a date to catch up with friends or a cheeky pint or cocktail.

Utterly charming helpful staff, fantastic vegan hotdog for me, meat dish for my friend, well priced bottle of wine. Dog made welcome. Sat in the garden at the back. Food was lovely, very relaxed and happy vibe. Will definitely go back

Went Saturday evening and it seems noone here knows how to keep real ale - had a pint of something which I wouldn't even put on my fish and chips + it's expensive and unhygienic. Supervisor on shift (blonde bloke) was extremely rude when I raised issues and was also rude to staff. Not a welcoming place for older clientele

Came here for a little birthday lunch, and I have to say that burger I had was hands down the best burger I’ve ever had. It was the vegan version of the bacon and Brie one. Mind blown. When I say it was the best burger I’ve ever had, this includes when I wasn’t vegan. The fact the chef can veganise just about anything on the menu is brilliant too! Coming back very soon, needs me another burger!

Really friendly and welcoming staff, with a quirky/interesting vibe (especially for us rock’n’roll folk) 😉 the burgers were delicious, although we are not local, we’d love to come back again.

Went early evening on a Friday, got a table no problem but by the late evening it was very busy but still a good vibe. Food was so so good, the staff were super friendly and the cocktails were very nice. Toilets were clean.

Nice pub staff very positive and helful

I am from eastbourne originally and regularly went to this pub. The last three visits (over a six month period) I have been very disappointed. The reason is that it is not clean at all. All the carpets are black and sticky, the stairs and rails up to the loos are black and sticky. The men's loos smell so bad, the walls are black and grimy, the urinal cystern has stuff growing on it. Utterly disgusting. These are the areas we can see, imagine the back office and kitchens.... This level of attention is totally unacceptable in this day and age! I hope they read this and get it sorted, it was one of my favourite place to have a drink.

There is a daily dear so it's a great place for lunch. The staff is great, prices are alright. Burgers were devine about a year ago, they must have changed the 🧾 as they are "only" super good nowadays.

Interesting green tile exterior. Great pub inside with heavy metal background music. Poor barman had a crooked arm but the service was fast and friendly. Good range of beers at London prices.

Unfortunately I have really unpleasant experience today in Dew drop. This is a first time in 7 years how I have moved to UK that I couldn't buy an alcoholic drink because my EU ID wasn't accepted. I really felt discriminated !!! After incident my friends left dew drop together with me. Never coming back!!!

Looking for dog friendly pubs in Eastbourne and choose the Dew Drop inn. We were not disappointed, surprised at the décor but it was very friendly, good staff, really nice food and friendly locals who would speak with you. Dog treats and water were available. Not expensive, small menu but great. The real ale was simply great. Its not the "W/Spoons of the wind bar but basic real pub (except for the décor on the stars!) Our Charlie liked the local Postman who gave him treats) Will return when next in Eastbourne,

Xenophobic and discriminating security guard did not want to let me in, because my Identity card was not British. I used it to get in there before and had no problems ! I used it to get into other locals the same night and again no one had any problem. I felt humiliated and discriminated against. I couldn’t attend my friend’s birthday due to this and it ruined mine and her night. It was absolutely disgusting and have never in my life had to deal with such horrible situation.

Wonderful pub, open fire, beer garden

Nice atmosphere but agree with previous reviews regarding 2 finger head rule. One female bartender managed to serve a perfect pint, kindly warning of the extortionate price but the second absolutely massacred the drink by pouring a 3 inch head then pouring it out into a second glass repeatedly to achieve a two finger pint. Result was a flat pint. When questioned about the beer she seemed rude and inconsiderate. I’m assuming dirty lines as I was sick afterwards. Never been served a beer in such an unappetising way, especially considering the £7 something it cost.

Absolutely shocked by the way the bar staff treated my friends and I tonight. Staff was incredibly rude. The man behind the bar was really condescending. Gross behavior. As someone who has worked in the industry for over ten years, it’s shocking to be treated in such a way. Nice pub. Shame their staff is trash.

One of our neighbours has been talking about the fantastic burgers at The Dew Drop Inn so my husband and I decided to come and see for ourselves on Tuesday lunchtime. We were warmly greeted by the lady on the bar (she was the only person serving) and she talked us through the burger menu and the special weekday lunchtime deal. My husband chose the BBQ burger whilst I had the bacon/cheese burger, one with curly fries and the other with skinny fries. My husband had one of the guest ales whilst I had a soft drink. We were advised that it would be about 20 minutes until our food was served, but that was no problem to us. It meant we could enjoy our drinks whilst people watching and seeing what others were eating! Our burgers were absolutely delicious - and the portions were far bigger than we expected. But we managed to finish everything! The food had obviously been cooked to order (on this particular day there was no brie so I had cheddar instead) and I would much prefer to wait a while for fresh food rather than it appear immediately! Total cost was £25 which we felt was excellent value for money. Thanks for a very enjoyable lunchtime burger meal deal.

Another victim of the ‘two finger’ policy for a head on a pint. That equates to approx 20% of a pint. £6.90 for Beavertown Neck Oil so effectively stealing £1.39 each pint they pour. Every 5 pints they get a free one. Has to be a scam. Manager clearly didn’t understand their glassware and tried to convince me that a beavertown glass is a pint up to where the word ‘Pint’ is printed, i.e about 1 1/2inches from the rim. I asked them to demonstrate with another glass and a pint of water but it seems it’s the only pub in the world without a standard pint glass. Will forward my experience to ESCC Trading Standards. Other than that, lovely vibe in the place, no football or TVs either.

Short measure on a very expensive (£6.90) pint of Neck Oil. Bar staff refused to top it up despite it being approx 20% short of a full pint. Manager argued black was white and then fell back on ‘company policy’. Will take up with Trading Standards. Shame as nice enough vibe without teles/sport etc.

After frequenting this bar for many years I can confidently say I will not be back after our experience this evening. After raising an issue about not receiving 2 of our drinks following a large order, a young member of staff got upset. She seemed very overwhelmed as it was so busy being the weekend before Christmas. For clarity we asked very politely and calmly about this. This was eventually was corrected by a manager (I think) without apology, and we also felt quite reluctantly. A friend of mine (whilst ordering our second round of over £50) made a comment to the bar staff how she felt this was handled inappropriately as the manager was quite rude. This then escalated with a member of staff, called Tim, saying he would not serve her any further drinks. The bouncer then came and asked her to leave which felt completely absurd and unwarranted. We had a whole round of drinks which we had to abandon which we felt was due to some feedback about a rude staff member being taken completely out of proportion. We had to leave our full drinks as we would not let our friend leave on her own. This is honestly feedback to help your service going forward, not a rant. I just felt genuinely upset and compelled to share how this made us feel as customers.

I asked for my pint of ale to be topped up. The barmaid said no, two finger widths above the liquid to the rim was the law. I asked to speak to the manager who then said the barmaid was correct. I will be speaking to weights and measures on Monday

One of the best burgers I've ever had from anywhere in the world. Also it had a gluten free option.! Sadly can't have the chips but not a problem. Burgers can be made gluten free safe for coeliacs.

We come here everytime we're in Eastbourne. The burgers are delicious, such a huge variety which I've never seen before at another resturant. The vibe and decor is a mixture between classic pub and modern vintage. They have a photobooth which I love, but also...

We had a brilliant lunch here - 2x burger and chips deal for under £16. I had the katsu chicken burger which was amazing, and the curly fries were great. Really friendly staff on the bar too (Friday 26th August) What a lovely find!
