Monday bank holiday evening chanced on the Dew drop. From the outside this looks a small place but inside is a very good selection of comfy seats, variety of table sizes and high tables. Typical old pub decor made the atmosphere very pleasant, with chatty bar staff, knowledgeable about their selection of beers. Ordered food, which arrived in a timely manner and was delicious. Three very different dishes, chicken and bacon burger, pan fried hake and chicken schnitzel. A couple of the gunpowder potatoes with the fish were undercooked and still hard but this wasn’t enough to spoil the dish. Desserts: chocolate brownie, baked cheesecake and rhubarb and apple crumble. These were all amazing, the crème anglaise with the crumble was so tasty. There are a number of bench tables out front that were being well used on this warm evening and there was notice for a garden at the back (which I didn’t see) but imagine more seats. Would recommend you give this place a try if you are passing

A great English pub with very friendly staff and homely atmosphere. On the Monday we went they had a trivia night that went down well with the patrons. My wife and I were on our last night in the UK after our visit from Australia and would highly recommend it for a good night out.

Needed to have somewhere to have a relaxing meal with family and friends. Staff were amazing (thanks Lily and Ben for everything). Would thoroughly recommend the taps menu - totally yummy. Where else would you want to be on a Summers day!

what sort of establishment is this ? I went in for a couple of beers sat and watched some sport. now I am obviously disabled but was told to walk to the other side for service even though the barman could have turned around and served me,really poor service and rude bar staff

Fab little traditional pub in Summertown high street. Only popped in for drinks but super friendly staff and gorgeous coffee. Don’t be put off by the frontage it needs a refurb but lovely relaxing set up inside. Sports bar for the lads and garden outside. We didn’t have food but it looked good with pub menu.

We loved the range of cocktails. Cuban mai tai was my personal favourite but the pineapple mezcalita was a close second. Lily the server recommended these for my personal tastes and few others for my friends.

Popped in with my dad for a quick lunch & was more than pleasantly surprised at just how delicious the food was (we opted for wraps) & what decent portions they were too. Would deffo recommend.

The staff were so lovely and made our night. They were out of a couple of things we wanted on the menu but the recommendations we ordered instead more than made up for that.

59 year old lady pops in for a small house red, while her son does football training at Cherwell school. Lady tells bar man her wine is unpalatable. He opens a new bottle of same house red and lets her taste a thimblefull. “Yes, it’s better but still slightly acidic.” “That’s because it is the house wine,” he mutters. Solo lady suggests she might try another red and says she doesn’t mind paying the difference. Barman says: “I still need to charge you for your first glass,” which lady points out she hasn’t drunk. Barman says he has to make a living! Lady asks if she can have a fresh glass of house red from newly opened bottle (that she was allowed to taste). No, he says, because I will need to charge you again!!! Lady says she is sorry but thinks that is unreasonable and asks if he can even do a half glass. Lady asks if she can have old glass (that she paid for at beginning back, given the awkwardness of barman Ben.) “No”, says Ben, “I’ve thrown it away” !!! Lady is surprised and explains she works for a charity and doesn’t want to spend more than £10 on two glasses of wine - one that she hasn’t drunk. Barman tells her to leave as lady says he seems rather ‘jobs worth’ and that she thinks he is contravening the Sale of Goods Act. He says he doesn’t like the way the conversation is turning and lady says he is being rude! He tells lady “Get out of my pub”. She asks to speak to the manager. “I am the manager,” he says. Of course he is. Lady asks who his superior is. He says “we’ll be here all night.” Lady leaves pub upset, saying it is disgusting behaviour. 20 minutes later, lady’s son returns with lady’s debit card to ask Ben for a refund. Ben says he thinks it is a scam! “How is it a scam,” says son? “ My mum paid for a drink which you poured down the sink, so she would like £4.55 back.” Ben barman says to son: “Get out of my pub.” 10 minutes later: Lady makes phone call to Mitchell & Butler head office to complain. Well done, what great customer service!

On Thursday the 27th May, a friend and I were marching down to the bougie middle class establishment, known as Marks and Spencer’s, when an opportunity, which for the last year has been foreign, arose. The glistening lights of the Dew Drop Inn shone in the distance, attracting us like a siren’s call. And that was that. The decision was made. With a skip in our step, we waltzed past the portcullis of M&S, and strolled into the pub. Our ad-hoc trip turned into a first-class dining experience, which was among the best I’d ever experienced (this year). After filling out the obligatory Track and Trace, we were led to our quaint, quirky table which was fortunately quiet, but came accompanied by the familiar, nostalgic buzz of social-butterflies gathering once more. After a perusal through the menu, I profoundly exclaimed “I like food!”. As quick as a jester making jokes, the waiter responded by saying “that’s always good!” His hearty manner was welcoming, and he gave us an impressive run-down of the extensive menu. “The pie”, exclaimed, “is my absolute favourite”. As I gave an unenthusiastic grunt, he followed up his remark. “But have it with mash. Mash not chips.” This was a bold claim. The boldest, some might say. Having pontificated on his rogue remark, for several minutes, I ignored his advice, but did still proceed with the pie. What could be better than Pie and Chips with a crisp pint of London pride? Some might say Pie and Mash, with a crisp pint of London pride, but they be wrong. Now I can’t comment on my friend’s dish, as not only did I not eat it, but it was a salad. However, she did seem to wolf it down with a merry grin. Mine however, after promptly arriving - but not so promptly that I expected to hear the familiar sound of a microwave ‘ping’ - was a delight. The pie, which itself was rich (although not fiscally, I might add), and the accompanying peas and gravy, was an excellent recommendation by the fine server, though I still question his recommendation of Mash. The triple cooked chips were both crisp, and fluffy and paired the pie finely, though at some point I may have to challenge this assumption by trying it with mash. Now although my pint was a delight, I am afraid that this review may end on a bitter note. For some peculiar reason, my friend ordered a bitter shandy. “What’s that?”, you may ask. Well, let me explain. I have been told on the finest authority that it is half a pint of beer, topped up with half a pint of lemonade. “Why?”, you may ask, and that is a fine question which I can not justify you with an answer, other than in the infamous words of Coco Chanel “Beauty begins the moment you decide to be yourself”. Aside from this meagre touch, the whole experience was generally a raving success. Although offered another pint, we had to leave, for a prior engagement with M&S called. This was a shame, though we shall certainly endeavour to visit again!

A bog-standard pub. They've got tons of outdoor seating, which is very handy at the moment, but their ale selection is pretty boring and often in poor condition. The food is standard pub fare and tastes fine, but it is surprisingly expensive. If you're visiting Oxford, you can do better walking over to Wolvercote.However, their pies are actual pies - 360 degrees of pastry around filling. I have given them a star entirely for that. We must oppose the tyranny of stews with a pasty lid!

Just eaten here and thought I’d put fingers to keyboard.Some Covid measure applied, but approximately 25-30% of customers wandering around without face masks unchallenged by staff. This may be due to you ordering by phone at the table and the staff appeared, on entry, to be too busy chatting amongst themselves while waiting for your electronic order. At the end of your online order, you are asked if you want to leave a tip. This however was for a cash amount rather than some advice and as my only interaction at that stage was someone saying “Table 41” (no “good evening” or similar), I decided not to bother. The food is indistinguishable from that served in a Wetherspoons, but you pay a premium to avoid any sort of side dish, decorative salad etc. The drinks range is also limited and expensive. On a positive note, as I don’t live locally I can easily avoid this place in the future. You have been warned.

I like going here because it’s relaxed and you’re made to feel welcome. Menu doesn’t change much but I like the food, apparently it was refurbished a few years ago but definitely needs another one, sorry.

Tuve una gran visita anoche para tomar algo y cenar, nuestra primera vez en un pub bajo las nuevas pautas del gobierno. Hicieron que fuera una experiencia realmente cálida y acogedora, asignándonos una mesa en la puerta, tomando nuestro pedido de bebidas de camino a la mesa y, en general, cuidándonos muy bien toda la noche. Teníamos el bistec y la hamburguesa con queso para comer, ambos perfectamente cocinados y deliciosos. ¡Gran selección de cervezas también! Sobre todo, el amable equipo hizo que fuera una velada realmente agradable. Muy recomendable.

Paré para tomar una copa antes de la cena.Como no habíamos reservado, nos sentamos afuera, donde no había calentadores de patio y hacía mucho frío. Esto realmente impactó nuestra experiencia. No es mi primera visita de ninguna manera, pero en esta ocasión me sorprendió gratamente saber que el jardín trasero había sido renovado. Al tener amigos que fuman, a menudo me encuentro en jardines de pub, así que me considero un poco conocedor y, por así decirlo. Creo que las plantas son muy importantes para mí porque, de lo contrario, se siente un poco triste. Una característica ganadora aquí y parte de la razón de esta revisión son los estantes de plantas contra la pared posterior que le dan color y textura al jardín y le dan un carácter que otros carecen con tanta frecuencia. Eso, junto con algunos muebles imaginativos y calefacción al aire libre, hizo que esta visita fuera más cómoda y menos ruidosa que mis salidas de pub habituales. Las cervezas son buenas y la gama disponible es impresionante. El personal del bar parece cambiar bastante, pero la sensación que uno tiene es siempre amable y acogedora.
