Devour at the Dyehouse in Kirklees

Just wanted to say we had a great lunch here yesterday. We've come to Devour for lots of special occasions (birthdays, anniversaries etc), and decided to bring our new baby son for his first meal out. The staff were super accommodating, the food was delicious as always, and we can't wait to come back!

Another incredible meal at Devour on our third visit. Service fantastic as always and every dish we’ve had here has been superb. We’ll definitely be back again soon!

First class Easter Monday lunch for four of us. Young professional waitresses. Clearly trained and motivated. Original takes on classic dishes and an excellent wine list. Thoroughly enjoyed it back soon.

What a special place this is.....the bar, the restaurant, and the outside areas are all top quality. The thought, knowledge, and work that has gone into making this an extremely pleasant environment in which to eat are very evident. The staff are all very polite, very helpful, and very happy - this all adds to the general "feelgood" atmosphere you experience the moment you walk in. The main event of course is the food, and that was second to none - quite simply some of the best Italian/Mediterranean style food we've ever had, prepared and delivered without fault. Top notch!

This was our first time dinning at Devour. The food and service were exceptional. Highly recommend visiting here. We will definitely be returning.

Food was delicious, service was slow. Our table was booked for 8pm on a Saturday evening. We arrived to find there wasn't a host on the door and the bar area was very crowded. We were seated at the table at 8.35pm and our starters arrived at 9.15pm. We each had three courses and all the food was delicious and well presented. The decor and atmosphere were lovely. We would dine here again, however it would be appreciated to have more efficient service.

The food was good. Not too keen on how the vegetables were served, all mixed together. I also thought that there was far too much salt added to the food. The meat, roast and mash was delicious and plenty of it. I couldn't fault the service. The staff were wonderful and couldn't do enough for us. I was with a group of 19, so the atmosphere was good. I've been told it's an expensive restaurant. I don't know, as I didn't pay. I would go again in a group.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️Nothing to fault, visited numerous times now and never had a bad experience. The staff went the extra mile to make my birthday special and the food was exceptional.

Was expecting great things, but we found Devour disappointing. Our starters were tasty enough, but our mains were...well boring, and expensive for what it was. Service was mediocre. Can't recommend I'm afraid.

A lot of parents treating this place like a soft play centre, lots of children running around although I appreciate this isn't the restaurants responsibility. We had a significant wait for our food when we came for dinner on Friday. There was not much acknowledgement or apology for the long wait which was disappointing when you're paying so much for the experience. Aside from that, food was delicious although small portions.

Amazing restaurant, so happy it's so close to my house, I'd honestly eat there every day if I could. Seems to be getting more expensive each time we go though. Lobster Ravioli has had a 50% price increase for example, from £8 to £12 for a starter portion over the last few months. What was a great regular meal out, has moved into the once in a while treat category.

Lovely restaurant with great Italian food.

We visited on 16 December with friends. What a wonderful place with great food and wonderful atmosphere. We will definitely return.

2nd visit, last minute booking for early evening so wondered if we might be 'encouraged' to finish our meal and leave if they had a later booking and needed the table but no. Lovely informed staff able to answer queries from 2 vegan companions, food was excellent and great surroundings. Thank you for another lovely evening!

First visit and really enjoyed the food. A nice beer and wine selection and an interesting menu. Everyone was extremely happy with their meal.

Hugely expensive and don't assume the extras the waiter offers are included in the price, they're not. The meal would have rated five stars, but my sea bass was frazzled on one side. The vegetables were perfect, and the flavour was exquisite. On the whole, it's probably worth it, but spoilt for me by the fish. Would I go again? Possibly, but at those prices I'll be very un-British and complain next time.....probably

Second visit in two days! What does that tell you about Devour. Today’s experience was wonderful catching up with ex work colleagues, some who had never experienced Devour but I’m sure will come again. Service from start to finish was exceptional . We had wonderful food , service and not rushed at all. Would love to have stayed longer but had been there a while chatting and catching up. Thankyou Devour you were outstanding

We booked an outdoor table on the last beautiful Saturday evening in September. It was glorious, and for the outdoor dining to be fully appreciated, the weather is everything. The setting is beautiful, they have got it so right. You can hear the river, the music is fantastic and the lighting as dusk falls is perfect. The menu is pretty basic, we had pizzas and a few sides, all of which were terrific. The pizzas are just fabulous. One of the pizzas didn’t arrive, but we were sharing the order anyway and we had plenty so no harm. My only issue is that the chairs are sooo uncomfortable, maybe an addition of a seat cushion could remedy this. I’ve eaten inside before and while it’s lovely, the outside in the right weather is pretty unbeatable.

4th visit to Devour and thoroughly enjoyed the visit once again and as always great atmosphere, food and service. We will certainly visit again in the near future for one of the pizzas because they always look amazing.

The Devour Restaurant is set in a Beautiful setting. The Building is classy and atmosphere is lovely. Unfortunately, the food options were limited, the food is very expensive and the pasta I had was very salty. Please consider family friendly deals as if the prices were more reasonable we would go more often as your Pizza's are good.

Great place, beautiful food. On site parking a real bonus- just be careful if wearing heels as tricky to walk across the gravel

Love it here. Great atmosphere. Food is great although service can be a little slow at times. Never enough to put us off and looking forward to our next visit.

Lovely restaurant with great ambiance and amazing food. Thoroughly enjoyed each course. Special mention to the salmon starter and tiramisu. Will definitely go again. We went for our anniversary and they were so lovely they even wrote a little card on the table.

Can't believe this place was hiding from me! A great all-round experience from the moment we arrived. Has the trifecta of lovely atmosphere, great staff and, above all, brilliant food. It's a special one!

Really really like this place!! The best Italian in the area. We come from Penistone to visit at least once a month. Love the vibe, the food and the cocktails. The staff are also very friendly and helpful. Recommend!

Magnificent dining experience everything is really well thought out

Ordered a Parmigiana pizza. When it arrived there was no cheese on it. Mentioned it to waitress who took it away. 10 minutes later they brought a pizza with cheese on. By that time my fellow diners had finished their meals. Wasn't that impressed with pizza as crust took up a big percentage of the pizza. Disappointed.

Visited this establishment with 10 friends, the setting is absolutely beautiful, the restaurant is vast with loads of room between tables, nice vibrant atmosphere. The welcome was warm and inviting the staff were extremely hospitable and the food was great, service was constant with regular drink orders being taken, no long wait between courses, will absolutely visit again if you’ll have us.

Great birthday celebration meal

Ordered food and a bottle of wine (37.00) for a bottle of white really !!! Waited well over an hour for our main coarse , staff asked us if we’d like to see the desert menu and we’d not even had the mains ,left and had a great pizza from davincis Honley , will not revisit Devour ever again , shame such a lovely place just not run correctly , unlike Meze Brighouse !!!!

Such a fabulous evening! From the really well made aperol spritz, (I’m very fussy), chilled glass of Lugana, and lovely choice of music in the bar (all be it a tad loud,) to a superb starter,(braised octopus), main course (fillet steak with peppercorn sauce) and amazing dessert! (Chocolate pannacotta) everything felt special. The staff were very quick and attentive. This place just gets better! Would highly recommend!!!

Relaxed atmosphere, top food, good craft beer. Accommodated an off menu request. Friendly staff. A wider vegetarian (non-pizza) choice wouldn’t go amiss but didn’t go hungry :-)

Excellent ! I believe it is harder to be highly rated and popular within smaller communities. In large towns and cities there will be always someone who will enjoy some kind of food whether good or not. In villages rating group is usually smaller, therefore statistically less objective so if you let it slip once everyone will know. But good god this place should have 5 stars no matter what. Could be a bit busier and louder than some places. So if you enjoy intimate atmosphere this might not be it. While dinning hall was packed still offered plenty of privacy, clever use of decor elements such as plants divided room and people seated at the table next to us were pretty much invisible. Service was pleasant, not taking too long with food or breathing down our necks with famous “how is your food or is every thing ok” of course that was there but just not as direct and blunt with each pass repeating same question and you trying to answer with full mouth. Selection of food and drinks was good! Not too overwhelming though but plenty to decide from to hit everyone’s tastebuds. My approval might mean nothing but but here it is anyways!

Really lovely food. Very tasty. We all ordered pizza and would strongly recommend these to others. The fresh side salad was beautiful and fresh. A few things to consider: Waitress who served us spoke to us very little. Didn’t see her smile once at the table. Charging £1 to have the tiny Parmesan pot to sprinkle over pizza is absolutely disgusting. I have never eaten at a place where they charge for this. These factors can stop a returning customer and I am unsure I would return.

Been trying to book a table for 9’people, you can’t book for a group this size online, left 2 or maybe 3 voicemail messages and no calls picked up 4-5 times over a 4 day period ! Must not need the business

Such a pity that when we asked for parmesan, it was charged as an extra. I have never been charged anywhere for requesting parmesan with my pasta.

We had an absolutely fantastic bank holiday Monday afternoon here. We tried many of the small plates and two pizzas (all of it gorgeous). The terrace was beautiful and the DJ really added to the ambience. Our server, Laura, was attentive , full of personality and professional. Thank you Devour, we all loved it!

Called down for a Bank Holiday afternoon of chilled Ibiza vibes. Not exactly Ibiza weather but still a good afternoon with rosé wine and pizzas. Always made to feel welcome.

Really Stunning place. location is 5star, rather pricey for wine 9.50 for 250ml. pizzas ok, will go back for drinks. Menu not to my taste and expensive but location is fab.

Great place, lovely eating spaces inside and out. The inside can be quite noisy even when it's quiet. Great food, never had a bad meal here which means it's not cheap, however the food and service do make up for that. I would recommend 100%

Another wonderful meal at Devour. This time we took visiting family & everyone loved it! Its such a beautiful setting & always a lovely experience. The food was delicious as were the cocktails we treated ourselves to. The staff were attentive & showed good knowledge of the food and drinks on the menu. We will definitely be back soon!

What a great evening, starting with cocktails outside on the terrace before being called to our table. Friendly and smiling staff then took our orders and to be honest we were spoilt for choice. There were five of us and we all loved our starters, we shared a bottle of the specially recommended Italian red which was really good. For mains we had mushroom tortellini, chicken Caesar pizza and chicken risotto and our young granddaughter enjoyed her cheesy pasta. All beautifully presented and very tasty. Puddings all looked stunning and tasted just as good. A big thumbs up for devour. Another big plus is the fact that you have your table for the evening with no annoying time limit. Will definitely come back.

We’ve eaten here a few times and had a good experience, but after our visit last night I had to write a review. The food was absolutely unbelievable!! I have Coeliac disease and on previous visits I had always been a little underwhelmed with suitable options, however I could not fault the new options and food last night! Kudos to the chef and the team they’ve really stepped it up and you can tell! I’m excited to come back again soon!

Great food, great service and a beautiful old building staged impeccably. Not cheap but you get what you pay for. Highly recommended.

Very nice atmosphere however the food left a lot to be desired ,the menu was very limited and I am not a fussy eater but couldn’t find anything i liked except for the sea bass which was a small fillet with very little meat and on the mashed potatoes were hard my husband wanted the pork which was sold out ,not worth the money for the size of the portions will not be going again .

Firstly, what a great place. Lovely setting next to the river. We ate outside but inside looked incredible, superb decor. Pizza is Neapolitan style and was very good. A basic Margherita done properly. Recommended

Very limited response by way of an apology I’d expect fairly attentive service after that, but slow to clear the table and take desert order (also disappointed with the lack of ice cream flavours given we had mostly come here based on the great looking picture of the ice cream on the website). It would have been a nice gesture to offer to reduce the bill for the mess up with the order, especially as it was the children left waiting for their food, but very little acknowledgment at all.

We've been coming here for a while now and we love it. The past few times we've been the food has been outstanding and the service is always excellent. We are very lucky to have this in Holmfirth!

Nice spot, very well thought out, looks exclusive. Prices are on the high side, for the area. Large groups were seated around us, which can be off-putting when you can't speak to each other without shouting. This lets the place down a little.

Great atmosphere, appetising dishes and reasonable quick service

Lovely place, fab location and the food is wonderful but the service really let the experience down, it felt as if the girls didn’t want to be there. Had to ask several times to order drinks which then would take 20+ minutes to come. The cocktails weren’t consistent in taste which felt disappointing given the price, 2 of which we didn’t drink as they were so bad. Feels like they need to do some improvements to get repeat customers.

First time visitor to the area. First time visitor to Devour. But I was very impressed with the food quality. It took some time for the food to arrive but it was worth the wait. The restaurant was almost full, inside and outside. When I will be back in the area, I will certainly go back to Devour again. That's for sure.

It was mine and my partners first time visiting here Last night and we will definitely be coming again! The team were so friendly and the food was amazing. Great portion sizes!
