Fantastic food, lost count of how many times I’ve had Sunday Lunch! Meat is always juicy and all the trimmings you can ask for

We frequent this fabulous place often and whenever we visit the Sunday roasts are always fresh, very good value for money in comparison with other venues in Chester and the quality is always of a consistent high standard. Excellent place to take the family!

Fantastic local place for awesome variety of craft beer from all over the UK breweries. it has great choice pf beers. Service was quick and good so do the atmosphere very cool and friendly.

I'm a local to Chester and I've been in this venue many times under previous management and names. I have to say the standard of food in there at the moment is exceptional. If you are looking for the best burger in Chester I don't think you'll find it outside this venue. The variety of beers in the venue are also great and it's a really convenient location. When I ever have friends visit I always choose the tap as it suits all needs. Can't knock it.

Very tasty food.Dissapointing though as it was lukewarm and some vegetables a little over cooked. Would return as good value.Just hope it's hot next time!

Really great place. Excellently cooked fresh food with fantastic specials. Massive portions. Tomahawk steak was incredible. Large beer selections with some weird and wondeful choices. Very friendly and helpful staff. And they have all the sport on. Cannot go wrong

I’m a regular at the Deva Tap, and for good reason, I absolutely love it. They always have a fantastic selection of unique and flavourful draft beers and ciders. AND, without a doubt, they serve the BEST BURGERS in Chester. The themed nights are nice, adding variety with different items beyond the regular menu, but for me, nothing beats the classic Deva Burger with hash browns. It’s simply unbeatable. Kudos to the team in the kitchen, keep up the good work.

Always good to find this bar open if you’ve time on your hands when going for a 🚂. Limited variety of cask beer on offer.

Amazing selection... staff know their beers...

Another fantastic meal. This time we went for the chicken and pulled pork sharer. It was absolutely amazing. Perfectly seasoned chicken, pulled pork that was lightly seasoned so you could taste the pork and not just sauce! Hash browns in beer cheese and gravy, seasoned homemade slaw and nachos....all cooked perfectly and huge portion for the price. Great choice of real ales, as always. It was very busy...you have to book weeks in advance if you want to eat, as it is very popular. Lovely staff and great service. It's very dog friendly too.

Superb roast dinner on a Sunday and great selection of beers and ciders.

Visited the Deva Tap and decided to sample one of the German themed meals on offer. I was slightly apprehensive but it was delicious and I was most impressed to have broccoli and mash with the stew! The staff were very helpful providing it in take away boxes as we had a train to catch. Thank you!! (Great beer and cider too).

Not my cup of tea. Good selection of craft ales. My friend was charged 40p more than advertised for a pint. When he complained, the barsteward grudgingly gave him the difference and then promptly changed the price to the new one. Had he addressed the error in a more pleasant way, then we might have stayed.

Couldn't comment on the grub because I'd already eaten before I went in but there was a steady flow of it coming from the kitchen and it looked amazing. I was in digs across the road but thought it looked a bit studenty from the outside so I gave it miss. Only went in on my last night because they had the footy on and I was pleasantly surprised. Bit of a one man band vibe going on but they've made a real go of it and you couldn't ask for better service. Give it a try.

I was recommended The Deva Tap through social media, and it is now our new favourite place to eat! Absolutely amazing food - really recommend their sharing platters. Staff were so lovely and helpful. Great place to eat with friends, family and date nights.

Bit disappointed to be honest. They didn't have any local beers on. As a real ale person, I love travelling and trying local beers. The beer I did have was nice, but did feel disappointed a tad

Booked a table for a birthday last week for food yesterday only to turn up and be informed they don’t serve food on a Tuesday which is not advertised or shown when booking a table, the person behind the bar even said that his manager had told him someone was booked in yet neither had the decency to email or call us before turning up to inform us of this so not only was a birthday meal ruined but we drove there and paid for parking for no reason at all, absolute waste of time and shows a establishment that cares more about lining there pockets then looking after there customers, will not be returning, plenty of much better places in Chester that look after there customers and would have had the decency to call ahead and inform us the kitchen wouldn’t be open

nice pub close to Chester station excellent service. decent range of beers £5-6 a pint £9 for a decent size plate of nachos which were very tasty

From a cask perspective, it was pale ales all around the four taps. Good place.

Sat outdoors on a rare sunny afternoon in May. 2 excellent pints had at a reasonable price for Chester. A Yorkshire blonde ale was very moorish! Our over excitable dog Brynn was made very welcome by friendly staff. 🐾 🍻

Stopped by last night for a late dinner but just missed the kitchen closing. Great selection of craft beers and I enjoyed a Leffe Belgian blonde for dinner instead. Came by again earlier tonight to eat - the Bang bang chicken burger was phenomenal. And I finally found some good fries!

A great pub with a wide range of ales and unusual lagers. Staff chatty and place was busy on the Friday early evening when we visited.

If you look closely at the building, you’ll see it was a Cocoa House back in the day. Nowadays, it sells a decent variety of local and international beers, ales and ciders.

We received a warm welcome on arrival and the service was friendly throughout. The menu was fairly priced and the food was very tasty. I had the chicken burger and it was very generously sized and the chicken was crispy and moist. Also there's a great selection of beer!!

Popped in on Saturday for the first time, pre gig over the road. Fabulous selection of real ales served in a lovely environment.

Tuesday 29th August 2023 This real ale pub and outdoor drinking areas are superb the choice of hand pumped ales good and the bar staff know there onions I'm interested in the clientelle though they are more beer drinkers than real ale drinkers and as such it was what it what it was Saturday 10th February 2024 We all came again to sample this Chester real ale pubs great real ales Again, I have said in previous write ups this pubs' hand pumped real ales has good has before and it real ciders are great Please dont mess up a good thing you owners of this pub

We choose the deva tap for my Birthday meal, which was also Valentine's, so glad we did, everything about our evening was excellent. The service was excellent, very friendly, helpful staff, great choice of food and drinks(I am very fussy as I have a hiatus hernia), great atmosphere, it was quiz night and really good fun. The food was absolutely delicious, I was even treated to a surprise birthday dessert for me and my husband with compliments from the team,wow, how lovely is that ♥️. Will definitely return, and highly recommend, thank you all at The Deva Tap.

The food was 10/10 absolutely amazing, the vibe was incredible with nice valentine’s day decorations. Quiz and games night was perfect entertainment for an amazing night.

Very good range of modern craft in keg and can along with some nice cask beer. Food was very nice and just what was needed with the beer.

We only called in here on our way back to the railway station, but as on previous occasions the bar fails to dissapoint. It hosts a good range of both cask & keg beers & is almost gauranteed to hold a beer that will cater for most tastes. Courtesous & knowledgable staff only helps to endorse that. Observing by the amount of reserved tables, I can only imagine It can get busy at times so If you have any doubts, try reserving a place in advance or get there early (before 6pm) I cant comment on the food as I didn't try any, but im guessing it has positive reviews?

A nice find on the way back to Chester station. It's not right outside, but it's very much on the way. A decent choice of beers and ciders. Quite welcoming, but felt a bit cold inside.

Came in here to start a pub crawl. The barman was very helpful and on the ball, even though it was his first day! There's a very good selection of ales at really good prices!

Questo locale seppur non si trova al centro, è uno di quei locali che bisogna visitare. Oltre il cibo, c'è tanto altro legato ad un'atmosfera rilassante e piacevole. Era tutto ciò che cercavo in un pub inglese. Consigliato assolutamente.

Brilliant selection of beers which is constantly rotating! The food was lovely and enjoyed trying the new menu and the mulled wine was the icing on the cake :)

It's like a permanent beer festival. Very nice real ales at reasonable prices and interesting craft ales at craft ale prices. Benches and tables have that Bavarian feel of purposeful socialising.

A favourite or mine. Cracking selection of beers, largers and ciders - not your standard pub stuff. Also great food. Just had the Nachos .... no photos as went too quick. Has a really mixed clientel from couples to famalies to dogs (with owners).

What a find! Super friendly pub in Chester slightly outside the city centre circuit BUT well worth the few extra minutes to get there. Superb *gourmet* burgers at reasonable prices. The Ruben special with pastrami and pickles was to die for! Great range of draught beers in excellent condition. Listed in the CAMRA Good Beer Guide for a reason. Well worth a visit.....

We visited early on a Wednesday night to find live music and a welcoming atmosphere. The food was delicious it all arrived promptly and well presented. The pizza I had was delicious and cooked to perfection. The side orders are a meal in themselves. There is an excellent selection of local beers and ciders. The deva taps own lager is well worth trying as is the White rat local hand pull bitter. Located just round the corner from the main railway station it is definitely worth a visit if you are looking for a good value meal and drink.

Met up with friends and had a few beers and lunch. Choice of beers was great - and fresh from cask / keg. Reuben on specials board was great for £7 and other dishes looked great. Would go again 👍🏻

Tucked away on Brook Street this was the first time we've visited the Deva Tap. There is an excellent selection of beers and ciders, well presented with chalk boards overhead to make your choice easier. I had two pints of a lovely, hazy IPA which was good enough to drink every night without getting bored of it. Both the strawberry and pineapple ciders, one still, were great. The night we attended all the burgers were 2 for 1 which was a bonus. They were delicious and a portion of fries between two of us was enough due to the large portion size. I had some buffalo chicken wings to start which again were excellent. The highlight however were the pizzas. They were huge and tasted fantastic. At the end of the night anything we couldn't eat was boxed up to take home. The service was faultless all night and the prices were excellent for what you got. The best beer tap house I've ever been to.

Popped in here on my own for a half before meeting a friend for tea, wow, very impressed! Staff are lovely and can’t do enough to help you, the selection of drinks is fab. Some people around me ordered food, it looked amazing, I can’t wait to return to eat here.

Great food, nice place to eat and drink, wonderful. Can’t credit this place enough, we had three bites between us and this was plenty, nice beer and lovely bottle of wine. Simple yet so good.

We dropped in just for a drink as I wanted to try the ales. We ended up having a meal as the food we saw going to other tables looked great. The specials all sounded delicious and the main menu was good too. I had the Nduja Burger and my wife had the Chicken Souvlaki special. We were both delighted with the tasty dishes and the portion size. The ales and wine were good too! All reasonably priced and with good, pleasant service and atmosphere.

Burger and a beer 👌 steak burger with bacon snd cheese, couldn't fault it in any way whatsoever. Well cooked, fresh ingredients, good portion size and delicious.

Popped in randomly last week and decided to have tea, we had pizza, chicken burger, blue cheese burger & chicken wings (we had the lemon & pepper and they were so tasty)... All the food was fresh, hot and super tasty and was served in good time.. even better it's also dog friendly with a super chilled vibe!

As the democratically elected leader of the gluten free society at Chester university, I chose to visit this establishment with my fellow alumni’s due to the various options available to us. The food was absolutely corking and I must say what a jolly good knees up it was. Fantastic choice and a real homely feeling. Would recommend to any of my fellows. 5 stars all round…. Dilly Dilly.
