I like the ambience of the restaurant and food is tasty and worth paying the price, I think there is too much plastic in the packaging for takeaway.

Super delicious food (the Biryani was the best I’ve had in the UK) staff are kind and charming. We really enjoyed the calm, relaxed and breezy atmosphere. The ceiling fans make you feel like you are abroad having a brilliant holiday! Wish I could give 6 stars!

Lovely restaurant, quick food and tasty. Highly recommend it. Only down side is if you have a large group the table is quite small but they catered for us and is understanble.

We had biriyani, sev puri and naan. Staffs lovely and friendly. Everything was nice especially the biriyani. It was flavourful and yummy. I always crave biriyani but never liked anything from any Indian restaurants across UK. Don’t know why the authentic South Indian taste is always missing so I and my family loved only my homemade biriyani .. but this one at Desi old cafe satisfied our craving

We went on the of chance of getting a table and WOW! Was it worthwhile. I can’t praise this restaurant and the people who run it high enough. The service was amazing the food was the best Indian food I’ve tasted and me and my family will definitely be returning. It’s a must in my opinion. This is a real gem. We'll prepared, flavoursome, delicate Indian cuisine. Great polite, friendly service. This is not your typical 'curry house'. Worth noting that alcohol is not served here.

after many recommendations from friends, we finally had an exceptional experience at desi tonight. we had the house chaat, sev puri, chicken tikka karahi, nawabi murgh korma and degchi chicken biryani. one after another, each dish stood out. highly recommend everything we tried and cannot wait to come back again to try more.

I think this is the best Indian restaurant I've ever been to. Everything was perfect. We had starters, curries, and sides and they were all perfect. All the staff were warm, and welcoming and the decor made it feel very authentic. I'd honestly travel again to visit here.

Last time I had a curry that good I was in Delhi at the Imperial hotel, lamb was soft and fresh and the sag aloo was really well seasoned

A nice change from your bog standard Indian restaurant. The food was good and the atmosphere matched. I think the restaurants suffers with a small kitchen meaning dishes don’t come out regularly for big groups. All the staff were extremely friendly.

On our way to France from Portsmouth and wanted to eat somewhere before boarding the ferry. After searching the internet and reading reviews we found this fabulous Indian restaurant . Not your typical tradition English style Indian . Much more interesting and modern …. A refreshingly different menu . Wonderful flavours and tastes . We wouldn’t hesitate to recommend and look forward to returning next time we are travelling to France .

I recently dined at this restaurant and had the lamb and chicken biriani. It was absolutely delicious and very authentic. The flavors were amazing and I highly recommend trying their spice biriyani. The staff was also very friendly and the service was excellent. I will definitely be coming back to this restaurant for more delicious meals!

I was superexcited to go to this place as their menu online looked amazing but to my surprise the menu in the restaurant was much more less than what was available on Internet. Ok so we ordered whatever was there in the menu. Apart from the lamb that I my husband ordered everything was garbage. Specially the saag paneer, this is worst ever I had in the UK. Even the dal makhni tasted like ready to cook dal makhni. Garlic Naan was priced at 5 pounds. And I was surprised to see that 1) it was store bought 2) it was 1/4 the size of store bought naans. Overall I was throughly disappointed! Though I will mention that both the staff and the ambience was good.
