Nice experience have lot of space

My husband and I went for a meal there yesturday for our anniversary, the food wasn't the best, one of the dishes looked like it came out of a jar and was very over salted, I had an upset stomach with in an hour of eating there, i do not recommend never going back.

Didn't have lamb even though it said on the menu,served chicken without asking if that was an ok alternative. Only one option of rose wine which was warm. Staff was lovely and helpful I guess but atmosphere was dead. No mints or hot flannel at the end either 😞

Beers were warm which was disappointing, and the service was OK, but the food was amazing particularly for the price. Will probably return again just to see if it was an off nights.

Visited tonight. Didn’t know the restaurant had now lost its licence so you take you own drink and is also now cash only! The restaurant was filled with smoke making everyone cough and eyes run as clearly no working extraction. They then opened the doors and it was freezing . I’m home 4 hrs after leaving the restaurant and my clothes and hair stink of grease and curry. Never have I experienced this before. I would never return here.

Back on form. We haven't been for a long while since the refurb because at the time they had gone downhill a bit. I'm well impressed with the standard of the food now. Mixed grill, lamb chops, Ceylon curry, all excellent. I may have been ambitious with the heat though. My mouth is on fire and I'm sweating. Very enjoyable, will certainly come back. Now for the bill...

If you are going to the Nottingham Arena and looking for somewhere good to eat, you will not be disappointed with this restaurant. The pickle tray was normal, nothing special, but all nice and fresh and the poppadoms

Been going here for 10+ years! Food is great as always but please, please sort your lighting out! Bright white LED lights is like having your meal in an operating theatre! You feel like your about to be abducted by aliens it's so bright. Something changed a few years ago with the lighting and now we won't eat there as the ambience is ruined. Sounds dramatic but it need to improve their lighting situation.

Without a doubt one of the best Indians I've ever had. Biryani rice - superb. Aloo Ki Bujia - superb. Lamb Seekh Kebab - superb. All with some real heat to them. Quick, friendly delivery. Excellent

When you buy a lamb shank curry you expect meat. However on this occasion, I was presented with a large bone with little meat attached in a large watery gravy? Never mind I will never waste my money in this rubbish restaurant again.

Dreadful. Ripped off. Countless emails and phone messages have gone unanswered. Double charged for all starters. All they have to do is reply but they don't bother.

I was here yesterday but the guy who works kind but too slow doesn't go anyone we were for sisha… I will never come back…

Went for a work Xmas dinner at £25 per head, drinks not included, but we took our own booze! Restaurant quiet on a midweek chilly Wednesday evening but food delicious...lamb so tender and a very tasty pilau rice with chickpeas! Will be back!

Worst customer service. Food is average. They are not there to serve but to fight.

Serious shout out to Desi Downtown tonight. Menu wasn’t marked vegan but staff made EVERYTHING I wanted vegan (EVEN THE GARLIC NAAN) And believe me when I tell how obscenely tasty it was AND IT’S BRING YOUR OWN BOOZE Is there a better destination for an in-house Christmas curry? I think not. 🌱 (And omni partner lost his mind about how good his was)

Just took my husband for a meal and desi down town and was pleasantly surprised! We ordered a tower for 2 absolutely beautiful, lamb chops being the star of the plate.. CREDIT TO THE CHEF! atmosphere was nice not to busy or loud or sitting on top of each other. Staff seemed nice welcomed us with a salaam and was overall polite . although I would say could do with a little more attentiveness to customers as we had to wait a while to get someones attention for sauces which we ended up going to the front counter for mid meal. FOOD FANTASTIC.. !! THANKS GUYS

Desi's is amazing! The food is tasty and great value for money, the staff are lovely and make a great effort to make us feel welcome and the atmosphere is warm and very family friendly

We went as two couples after hearing good reports. The staff were lovely, attentive and friendly and the food was incredible. Food is delicious and had a home cooked feel with fresh preparation. You take your own drinks too. A definite hidden gem and I wish them well!

You would be mad, absolutely bonkers not to come here, it has amazing staff who are great, friendly amd attentive food is magical, superb and every other superlative you can think off. And you can bring your own booze, so as I said you would be mad not to dine here. So do yourself, your family and your friends a massive favour and eat here and enjoy, like we have!!!

I’ve been to Desi numerous times in the past, eating in was a pleasure , the food was excellent. Not actually been in the restaurant lately but have ordered takeaway’s, and still very happy with the quality. Last order, there was a bit of confusion about delivery but they sorted it out. Highly recommend, food, friendly customer service….. Absolutely first class 👍

Great restaurant, by the Ice stadium in Nottingham. Really welcoming helpful staff and a good selection on the menu. We love Indian food and this was some of the best we’ve had. Freshly cooked, great value and delicious. We had the Tawa for two, plenty of food. We will be back soon.

A friend had a party here and the staff were unprofessional and disrespectful. First problem was that they had took the booking wrong and then allowed someone else to book in for a party that same night. The manager was lying and pretending he didn’t remember what had been said to us. The men were making inappropriate comments towards girls that came to this party. Overall they were inappropriate, disrespectful and rude.

Excellent food and service at reasonable prices. Staff were very accommodating and polite, and the food was to die for. Complements to the chef. New ownership and the only downside was no alcoholic beverage, although you were allowed to bring your own. Apparent lack of customers, but I think that was down to the open planning. Put some blinds up and make it a bit more private looking, and it's definitely a winner. It's certainly worth a visit and is now my goto restaurant for Indian cuisine.

Came here on a bit of a whim. Very welcoming staff. We ordered a tikka masala and bhuna, couldn’t fault it. The staff are lovely, very attentive and welcoming. We had a lovely meal, also went to the Shisha Lounge at the back. Loved it! Would a million percent come back.

A fairly basic restaurant, no tablecloths on tables ? Cheep & cheerful dining. Visited with my Daughter prior to a show. We wanted to order a hot drink but informed the restaurant was not serving hot drinks until they launch the new menu. Ordered Chicken Sagg & Tikka Masala, rice & 2 naan breads. Drinks, J20 & diet coke £2.95 each. Food was good, service average, total cost £ 34,85. Would I return.........ummmmm not sure.

Quiet early friday evening. NO VEGETARIAN MAIN COURSE!!. Surely in this day and age a restaurant must have at least one Vegetarian main. Wont be back until it does. Note that the menu we received was not the same as the one shown in another review.

I have celebrated my 30th birthday there. I could rent a whole room for myself and paid reasonable price. I could bring my own food & drinks. Room is big enough for a party of 30-40 people, has a mini fridge with a space for a bar, storage room, good sound system, beautiful modern design and staff is extremely friendly - they will do everything to make your experience special. I do recommend this place and will return there soon ☺️

Pleasant restaurant. Quiet when we were there early on a Friday evening, but there are NO vegetarian main courses on the menu. Fortunately I eat shellfish & there were two prawn dishes. These days it is just not acceptable for a non meat eater to go in & find only two main dishes I could eat. If I didnt eat shellfish I would have had to leave, which would have been embarrasing for all concerned.

We booked the party room downstairs for my neices 5th birthday party for 40 people. The kids and adults enjoyed the space and the music, lovely and spacious room for kids party games etc. Staff were very attentive, Food was tasty and on time. Service was brilliant.. will definitely be hiring the room again.

Superb venue for our leaving do for a great friend and work colleague - 28friends all dining together with a mixture of dietary requirements and preferences! And what’s best…great service and its BYOB! So for myself as coeliac, I got to drink GF beer with my curry! Delicious food- thank you!

Got a delivery from Uber. Outstanding if spicy lamb and spinach, unusual but very tasty mini aubergine curry and first rate Peshawar naan. The meal was spoilt by there being a missing mixed grill, obviously not Desi's fault. Samuel from Uber decided he was hungry and made off with it. Uber made a refund but Samuel I hope you enjoyed OUR food. We'll definitely be ordering from Desi again but think we will be collecting in future. PS: It's a good idea to take a screen shot of an Uber delivery when the courier's name and phone number are visible.

Food tastes inconsistent each time I’ve ordered, this is not like your typical apnah style curry, it is catered more towards the milder and western tastebuds. You have to also keep ringing them to make sure they get the order right and not miss anything when they deliver

Absolutely amazing food, service and atmosphere. Really close to the motorpoint arena too. Best Indian restaurant iv been too ......one thing to note is they don't sell alcohol at all here but they allow you to bring in alcohol if you wish or buy soft drinks .

It was our first time visiting just over a week ago and it did not disappoint! The decor is not super fancy like other competing restaurants but dont let that fool you. Clearly they have no need to over compensate because the food alone is fantastic and speaks for itself. We ordered way too much because we didnt know the portion size but they provide you with takeaway boxes for anything you wish to take home. To be honest, i carried on eating because i was enjoying it! The service was great. Every staff member was friendly and we were constantly checked on. Even by who appeared to be the manager/owner. I will say that the restaurant did get a little smoky but i imagine thats due to the open kitchen and it being a busy saturday night. However highly recommend and we will be going back.

Will start by saying how friendly the staff are here, they couldn’t do enough for our party of 8 so thank you. New owner is very welcoming too and it’s nice to see the owner liasing with customers. Food was absolutely delicious. Bhajis are something else, a must try! The chicken was melt in the mouth and the curries were very flavoursome. Chef cooked our curries to just the right spice heat as requested. We will recommend and definitely return. I would like to see some of the lighting off for a more relaxed cosy feel as it’s very bright in there, that’s my only negative and only reason for not giving 5 stars. Thanks again to all the staff

We enjoyed food very much, although place doesn't have any atmosphere and it was very empty. It's looks dated with decor and run down. Young waiter tried very hard to learn. Smile, it always help. Did like music from side of kichen. Would definitely be back. Food is worth it.

We've been going to desi's for years and it was sad to have a disappointing meal last night. There were bright overhead lights that impacted the atmosphere. The restaurant was exceptionally smoky. The service was very slow, staff were friendly but not attentive. The food was not as good as usual, one meal arrived cold. Sadly less likely to come back.

Hands down the best curry in Nottingham. Especially their lamb dishes; the meat is always super tender. There isn't a super huge variety but what there is is always good. You can also bring your own drinks.

We visited on a groupon deal but will definitely return as prices were reasonable for the city centre.Huge portions,tasty food and good service.Plus you can take your own alcoholic drinks. Only minor criticism was I had to ask for a separate vegetarian menu but good choice when it arrived.

Excellent service. Fresh and tasty food. The portion is perfect and the naans are big. Bought the groupon deal and it was so worth it. Everyone had a lovely time.

I could not fault the service, staff were friendly and attentive and no complaints about the poppadoms and accompaniments but unfortunately that’s where the positives end. The menu was very uninspiring so I went for chicken tikka masala as I thought it would be safe, five small pieces of over cooked chicken in a sauce that was a cross between cream of tomato soup and Thai red curry. The pilau rice was just plain weird and although the garlic naan was ok it wasn’t enough to save the meal. Not for me I’m afraid, back to Birmingham for a decent curry.

Authentic south Asian food; you can tell by the majority of their clientele unlike Mowgli down the road. Food is very high quality for the price. Proud to make this one of my regular spots!

Been going to Desi for years and enjoyed what they offered. However, a recent delivery was very disappointing from the Chicken Boti to the Jalfrezi and even the rice. Whilst beautifully hot (temperature wise) and delivered in a timely fashion, the dishes were poorly cooked, flavoured and unappetising. Done with Desi until things markedly improve.

The serving size of the main course was a bit disappointing. Taste was good and garlic naan was exceptionally soft! Overall had a nice experience.

Very nice food for great prices. I was told that this is the best Indian restaurant in Nottingham and maybe this is true!

Booked for a pre motor point arena meal. Warmly greeted by Suhail who remained perfectly professional and attentive throughout. My mum and I shared a mixed grill with a side of marinated grilled prawns and masala fries. INSANE! Honestly cannot recommend enough. The perfectly home cooked food or the charming service, you don't have to choose. Only slight issue (or bonus depending how you look) is they don't serve alcohol, BUT you can take your own.. so no complaints!!! Thanks Suhail and the team. Our stomachs are perfectly lined 😅😍

Placed an order through their website, 10 minutes later they then cancelled the order and will take 3 to 5 working days for a refund. They shouldn't allow orders to be processed if they can't handle them.

I've not been for a few years but the quality of food and overall experience is still second to none. One of my favourite places for a curry. I cannot fault the place. They no longer serve alcohol so you will have to bring your own if you want a drink

Great price and good food. Its also bring your own booze which is a great bonus. It can be a bit cold in the restaurant which is annoying, but I would go back. There is also shisha in the back, if yiu wish to part take.

Lovely food, great prices, yes it's not the highest quality but the flavour and satisfaction for desi food is absolutely there, and for the price you cannot complain. Came here with the family and we had a good time. My only complaint is that I wish the food was sizzling and a bit hotter when we ordered.

Delicious food but it is bring your own alcohol so if you want a beer etc, take it with you.

Quality of food is very random. Sometimes is very good but other times twice grilled or reheated that smells bad and tastes even worse.
