Desi Cafe in Sheffield

Gorgeous Coffee. The staff are very friendly. Miss understood my order but were quick fo fix it. Couldn't be happier with service.

First visit, but won't be the last. Cafe is accessible, clean, simply styled and comfortable. Service was friendly, maybe a bit patchy but they were unexpectedly rammed. Food was tasty, the puris were the flakiest I've ever had, the kashmiri chai was well spiced and very pink! Excellent value for money.

warm, nice atmosphere, comfy chairs. a while to wait for food. chicken curry with paratha excellent, gobi paratha good but ate it with the chicken curry, 'desi breakfast' v disappointing.

My wife and I love Asian food and have been coming to the cafe for a long time. Food hygiene rating is 5 star BUT both the man who serves and the very short waitress have sneezed and not washed hands or covered their mouths and continued to serve food. Wholly unacceptable!! This has happened on lots of occasions, so much so we have stopped coming to the place even though the food is out of this world. After our last visit my wife ended up with a cold and enough is enough I’m not putting her or myself in the path of any unhygienic measures especially as I work in the medical field and know these practises displayed cause the spread of germs. We did notice the bench and chairs were not really wiped down and grease marks were on them and in order to not cause issues we sat on the them knowing they were dirty and the floor had food that was not brushed up. My wife and I both feel that standards have dropped in terms of hygiene and will not be coming again. I rarely leave reviews but have used my sons Tripadvisor account to leave a review. We do come on weekends so we are unsure if this happens on weekdays but a weekend visit is out of the question for us again. The food is delightful though it has become rather expensive especially as it’s vegetarian food mainly which should not be that expensive regardless of rising costs, a bag of flour is cheap so to charge 6 pounds for a flat bread paratha is rather extortionate in my view.

Been a few times,food is excllent,service very good,but a bit pricet for Desi Food which should be low cost and cheerfull just how it is back in the Indian Subcontinent.

We visited this place after recommendation from a local friend for breakfast. It was good start when a friendly girl took our order. We weren't suggested anything but it didn't matter much as we had already decided before entering what we would order. The food arrived early, generous serving size good taste, unfortunately it went all downhill from there. Tables were filled with some customers who most probably were local families or personal friends of the restaurant management. Whatever, we were completely ignored after that. Ordered water, didn't come despite asking twice. We gave up on that and decided to pay the check and leave. Though the manager was standing at nearby table for 10 minutes chatting with them, he ignored our multiple gestures asking for check. We also asked a server girl at nearby table to bring the check but she didn't show up again. Finally, We went to the counter and paid the check directly. For a token of consolation, the girl who had taken our order at start did ask my wife if she liked the food. I don't know why they were so bland when we were enjoying our breakfast and wanted to order more. It kind of overshadowed the food quality. I hope they address this issue of attending everyone equally as regular customers are formed by consistency in service.

Would be considerably better if the service and mannerism of the gentleman, I’m guessing it was the owner was better. Regardless of the food tasting pleasant, you don’t feel like a valued customer even though you’ve a attended on a few occasions. To add, those time I have been it’s always a new waiter, from that you can infer what kind of owner he is to be working for. Hope this improves, you may regain a repeat customer. If you’re concerned that is at all.

We visited it for a large group family brunch, and weren’t disappointed by the service, and experience. We ordered Channay halwa puris, sweet lassi, parontas (various), desi chai.

The best south Asian restaurant in Sheffield. Authentic home made wholesome food. Great service. Must go place in Sheffield. Got Desi breakfast ( the Channa and puri) is to die for. Loved it.

I have been to this place many many times. Food is always spot on. I must say they serve best desi breakfast. BUT, I think they need to improve on few house keeping things. They need to be a bit more polite and considerate. The main person who runs this place always comes across a bit harsh and angry. You don’t feel welcomed at this resturant. May be it’s just him, but it doesn’t work for everyone. Hope they will reflect. But amazing food no doubt. Will keep going there.

Enjoyed one of the best Omelette "Special Desi Spicy Omelette " at desi cafe, presentation was nice. Will visit again to try more dishes on the menu for lunch. Good environment and friendly staff.

Fantastic authentically made food, tasty as anything and so damn cheap! The parathas are a must have. Perfect place to sit and grab lunch for an hour.

We decided to visit the cafe to sample the desi breakast- the unique attraction at the restaurant. The owner welcomed us into the restaurant, accommodating 8 of us (3 adults; 5 children). We chose a selection of paratha meals with spicey egg bhuna, desi omlette and Channa. We were surprised by the fresh, crispy large (size of a pizza!) parathas-gorgeous. The desi omlette had chilli and spice, the channa good flavours. The desi chai and Kashmiri chai had the homemade authentic taste. Hot chocolate-topped with cream and a jammy dodger. Kids given a treat lollipop! The service was great. The food brought back memories of my mum’s cooking-a flavour that should not be forgotten. Overall an original restaurant which deserves to be experienced.

The food was well cooked and tasted good but the delivery guy took his time and then when he did arrive, he expected me to walk to his car to pick up the food. For a £5 delivery fee he should have brought the food to the door!

Food Ok. Really Really Really bad service.... took more than 1 hour to come and incomplete order came (forgot the coke). When asked the delivery person he said dont ask me they just told me to give this. When called the restaurant the manager said i cant send it now will send it tommorow. Next day they said we will not give it to you now next time you order will not charge you for coke and a dish complimentry. Think the service is absoultely disgusting.

The food was good but food tastes better when you get it hot the naan were cold and the starter which we ordered had gone soggy, Which is a great shame the food is not bad but it took a very long time for them to delivery to come so I do not know when it was despatched as I had to ring the restaurant three times and yet no one could tell me where the order was before we even got the food which was over half an hour late then the time stated. The food is not bad but I would have liked to get my food hot !!!!!
