Desi Bites in Leicester

Second time was the charm after an average first visit. Food was awesome, flavorful and staff were very good. Definitely recommend it. Best to go before 1 PM as gets a bit crowded during lunch hours and service slows down. Well done Desi Bites !!

Our order included a regular thali and a Maharaja thali. My husband's top picks were the Puri, dal, veg, and lassi, while I found myself drawn to the Roti, Bharela Began, and Shrikhand, which I couldn't resist ordering twice. We also had lovely tea. The experience was so enjoyable and filled with pleasure and satisfaction; the only thing missing was Achar and Sambharo (I got plain cabbage, which I did not like) in the thali. Many Achar bottles are displayed at the counter, but I feel sad that they did not serve it with the thali. We're already eagerly anticipating our next visit to explore their menu more.

Worst experience ever, no flavour in the food. Took over 2 hours for food to turn up. When it did it was cold and no flavour.

I went with my family, particularly for Jamnagar ghughra and bhaji cone and I loved bhaji cone and my family, however, ghughra was missing the lasoon chutney taste however it was very nice and we also had masala chips, aloo paratha, karak chai and Mumbai sandwich. The prices are fairly good not too expensive and the quality and quantity were fine too. Definitely would come back next time.

Attending the Diwali sip and paint event at desi bites and it was an fab and full evening. Food was delicious and the painting supplies were of great quality. Would definitely recommend!

Food quality was not that good. Don't try thali. The only recommendation I have is : Masala tea. Everything else was a waste.

I wouldn't bother. Much better places in the area. I was quite disappointed with Desi bites. food was OK but the service was terrible. They bring food out when it's ready which I'm used to, however by the time they brought out the "unlimited" Thali everyone had finished. It took a good 35 minutes for that dish to arrive! It's a place of style over substance and you are watched so you don't share the "unlimited" Thali. Best of crossing the road and walking 100 meters ;)

Attended Desi Bites this evening for their Sip and Paint event. It was so much fun! There's a great selection of food and drinks (which is unlimited), and all the painting materials are provided. Definitely worth checking out for a fun evening.

Very nice place for vegetarian food

I would like to start this review by saying I'm not really into eating vegetarian food but my wife is , we were told about Desibites so we decided to give it a go , OMG....first time I really enjoyed my food so much that I ordered seconds , the staff could not do enough, and the owners are such a lovely couple, please go and experience it yourselves guys.....I think I might be converted !

The bhatura had too much oil, clearly they were fried in oil that wasn’t hot enough in a hurry and were uncooked as well (chewy) not at all fluffy or crispy. The vada pav has the vada which is half the size of pav so be ready to eat just the pav with chutney which has no flavour, not even the chutney has taste. Kachumbari fries are nothing but dry fried topped with chopped onions, tomatoes and capsicum. No sauce at all for £7 plus this was such a let down item. Overall very below average will not be ordering again. Indian restaurant not at all serving Indian portions 👎🏽👎🏽👎🏽👎🏽👎🏽

Was a pleasant experience, the staff were friendly & welcoming. The deco had a nice cosy vibe. The food for me fell short and found all the dishes to be very salty & oily. The chips were over fried to the point that there was hardly any potato content inside. 😐 I did enjoy the tawa panner dish and would recommend.

We booked desi bites as our wedding caterer, and cannot fault their service and food! We have no doubt that desi bites will deliver above and beyond each time! Not only had we received so many compliments on the taste of the food but they also exceeded with the presentation of the food too. Our wedding day and reception went so smoothly. Ritesh ensured he cooperated with all our vendors and was super friendly. I would 100% recommend them to anyone who is thinking of booking desi bites for their wedding, you will not be disappointed!

Dear Owner or Manager , Today we had really bad experience with your restaurant and your staff, girl who was serving was very unprofessional and very RUDE, we had hair in our dish today when we informed her she just ok and walk away, also she was not serving fair to us . She knows the customer who was seated next to our table so she just more towards them , but we were also. Paying same amount but not getting fair service, staff should treat customers as equal respect. We really disappointed 😞 20/06/2024 and time is nearly 7 pm . We ordered thali and just gave small amount of mango juice to my little one she was just came to my face and said you not allowed, I do understand your policy and we did order separate food for my kids but when your kids want something from your dish as a mother I can’t say No to her , and I think none of parents do that , I have to think twice before you visit again , and recommend to anyone,. Just want say that we are paying money not eating free

This is my favourite place to eat when ever I visit Leicester . Food is so delicious, love the authentic flavours and variety of choices available on the menu. The food is very reasonably priced, the portion size is good and the service is excellent I wanted to update my review I visited on 1st June 24 my dad Amin who booked the table for lunch, they went out of there way and made my birthday very very special, they organised a beautiful cake on my dad's request. What a beautiful surprise, this was the best experience and made my birthday was very special and memorable. The food was delicious as always and the ambience was lovely the surprise was cherry on the top. Perfect day ❤️

We had a small family party at Desi Bites yesterday and everything was exceptional. The food was fresh, delicious and well presented. The service was outstanding, especially from Bhakti. Every time Bad experiences and every time surprise. Mostly i ordered Jamnagari Ghughara. Everytime i request like give me separate chatnis, some Time they forget to put Green chatni, sometimes forget to put red chatni and sometimes other. Today i ordered 3 plates take away and requested for make sure everything will be ok but again they forget to put peanut and Ghughara was very worst. Burn 🔥 waste of Money

The food was really amazing. As the customer service was also top notch. The best thing I remember when there was one gentleman (he seemed like the owner of the shop) who made sure that all the customers are satisfied with the food and service. Best budget friendly restaurant in my opinion with great taste. Strongly recommend for daily meals. They also have (must try, it has so many items) exclusive Thalis too.

Food was amazing just like home food. Maharaja Thali was so yummy with lots of varieties.staff was very friendly and atmosphere was nice.

We went for dinner with family last night, after reading all the good reviews and I felt like I must share my experience. The curries that come within the thali were very average, the mix sizzler was very tasty, my MIL loved her masala dosa. But let me talk about the service, we ordered two maharaja thali. This means you can eat as much as you want. It's not buffet but you can keep asking for more if you like. So, upon asking for ONE additional bhatura, this is all I asked for and wanted. The girl seemed puzzled, so that got me confused thinking if this was "unlimited thali" as they call it. But then she said OK, I'll bring it out for you. I waited 10 mins and asked if it would take long. She said she'll go and check and never returned. 5mins later an another lady came to check if everything was OK with our food. I told her I have been waiting for more than 10 mins for all I asked for 1 bhatura. At that point, I was just very disappointed and asked for the bill. We had a 3 years old and 1 year old with us. So, I couldn't keep the family waiting to me to eat an extra bhatura. So desi bites please don't call the dish "unlimited" to mislead people. This is my personal views from my experience.

This was our first visit at Desi Bites. I must say that I had high expectations going by the reviews. Unfortunately for me, it did not live up to expectations. The place was ok, nothing special, and the food was ok too. The food was pretty much what I have tried at other vegetarian restaurants. The one good thing was the waitress Bhakti. She was very helpful,despite being called to do other things whilst she was serving, which to me was a bit unprofessional. Maybe we were just unlucky on the day. So overall,not bad but nothing special.

The environment is nice and welcoming. Staff attentive. The food quality however is poor. There's fresh food and stale food and you know the difference between the two. Cheap ingredients and shortcuts equals poor quality food. The dishes are really cheap hence why it might be popular place: I think the place has potential. Make dishes a little more expensive and use good quality ingredients will make a difference. We have eaten here twice and both times I've felt the same. Only this time we fell ill with a stomach upset, due to stale food (Had chole). If you want cheap cheerful then this is the place.
