Deshi Spice in Bedford

The butter chicken was too light in colour and lacked flavour. The other curries were also tasteless . Ive tried this place twice now and it’s the same story.

the worst food I ever had , it caused me food poising I. the name of chapati they send half cooked ready made chapati,chicken tikka was just chicken pieces marinated in some masala and fried very untasty .and the daal was nothing but half cooked daal which was not cooked enough to be edible so they granted it and send ...how people could this irresponsible when they food to people ,I hight recommend this restaurant to serve healthy authentic food at least fully cooked. very disappointed

I have eaten here for the first time and I really enjoyed it. Hussain has been very attentive and provided a great service. Will definitely be returning.

Fantastic evening at Deshi. Only ever ordered takeaway, but sitting in was next level! Wednesday banquet for 15£ per person is a bargain so much food and all. All fresh and hot…and tasty! Service was top quality all the guys were chatty and attentive. Ahad was brilliant chatting with us at the end. Even with a massive table in they still looked after us well. Will 100% be back soon!

Had the butter chicken and the chicken tika massala , both dishes were extremely bland . Very disappointed seen as they have an award , I have had alot better from other places in bedford . I am disappointed with that because it's not a cheap meal

I tried a chicken Bhuna for the first time and it was really nice! I wasn’t so keen on the Tikka masala as the sauce was really sweet, still nice but not as much to my tastes. My fiance enjoyed his curry too :)

Tonight we were served but Hussain and the service was impeccable and the food was really great and he even offered us complimentary drinks which was a nice surprise. My Frist time coming here but will definitely be coming here again.

Food was excellent and service good, however think they had far too many bookings tonight as we booked 19:30 and they were asking us to leave at 20:40. Did get the feeling we were being rushed through whole meal, which spoilt the evening. Suggest they think little less on how many covers they can cram into an evening and little more on customer satisfaction. Would I book here again....not sure! If I did I'd clarify how long I had table for and make it clear that offering a complimentary drink to get rid of me is bit pointless if I've no where to sit and enjoy it!

Came here tonight after we googled "best curry house in Bedford". Truly lives up to its reviews. Excellent food - not greasy and tasted lovely and fresh. The highlight was the service though. Really friendly and genuinely seemed like they wanted you to be there. Looking forward to returning!

Found Deshi Spice searching online, turned out to be the highest rated in Bedford. Lived up to its exceptional reviews - delicious food, first class service and great atmosphere. Proven by how busy it was but no loss of attentive and charismatic staff. Highly recommend and will be back.

Asked for split payment from the beginning and ended up racially profiling group of 6 and treated us like thieves. They took full payment before even serving us which is unheard of even after showing them a corporate card with British pounds inside. Very bad service till the last moment where they tried to stop us from leaving after paying because one guy was washing his hands so he was last to pay. (so silly) At the end they gave us a piece of chocolate and we gave it to the homeless.

Absolutely beautiful food! Friendly and welcoming atmosphere and attentive staff. The Goan fish curry is my wife’s dish of choice, having chosen that on all three of the visits we’ve made to this restaurant. I have thoroughly enjoyed their traditional biryani dish & the last visit I had a lamb shank dish that was possibly the nicest Indian dish I have ever had in a restaurant.

Food was great and very affordable. Service was very quick and friendly from Hussain. Will definitely be coming back soon.

Great food! You can taste the spices clearly and the food choices are varied. The rezala was excellent. My starter was great, very original- the deshi mixed starter. Onion bhajis were ok. We will be back.

Great service, a very warm welcome from all the staff. Fast, efficient and friendly. Clean & beautiful interior. Food was delicious with a nice Bangladeshi kick. We had king prawns jalfrezi & chicken shaslik buna, special rice and keema naan.. all cooked on point!

11 of us went to Deshi spice for my sisters 30th. We were supposed to be a party of 14 however due to unforeseen circumstances there were only 11 of us. The manager demanded to know whose birthday it was and then shouted at my sister, on her 30th birthday, for not letting him know that 3 people were no longer attending, one of which being a baby. My brother in law went and requested the manager apologised for upsetting my sister, on her 30th birthday, for 3 out of 14 guests not attending. I left my poorly baby at home to be shouted at, utterly appalled by this behaviour and will not be returning. I will also advise my family and friends not to go here. A real shame as the service from the other staff was lovely - who even apologised on his behalf for ruining our evening.

The food was excellent, the servers were nice. And the place where i was sat was also good and clean.

First visit. Bedford has a lot of choices so Deshi has a lot of competition. Food was absolutely excellent, service was superb. Definitely a top place to eat. 2 starters, 3 mains, 3 sides and 2.5 beers came to £85. Can't fault the place or the staff.

My parents love the curries from this place which is probably the best compliment you could get!

Only 2 onion Bhaji’s in a pack now, we’ve watched it go from 4,3 to now 2 (understanding of ingredient prices going up etc but I wish I had known what I was getting prior to ordering)

Really good food . And the staff are really approachable if you have a problem. Really big portions for a very good price. This restaurant goes above and beyond for their customers. No wonder local people recommend it all over local social media.👍

Asked my Vegetable Pathia not too spicy, and was perfect… lots of great flavours. My wife ordered Vegetable Bhuna, delicious, came with free popadom and two pots of extras… top marks.

Ordered Takeaway & I genuinely understand why they’ve won so many awards now. This was my first time trying & we had the Chicken Korma, Chicken Tikka Masala, Boiled Rice, Garlic Naan & Popadoms with sauces. Everything was amazing ! The only downside I would say is delivery took longer than the hour the site stated. So if ordering, do so maybe 90 mins in advance or so. Other than that, I will deffo be ordering again.

I'm yet to have a bad meal here. Been about 6 times over the past couple of years with a friend who moved down south. Food is always hot, nice quality and so far no upset stomach the following day. Staff helpful. A bit cramped and tables quite close together but no more than Indian restaurants I've been too. We'll be coming back again soon I'm sure. Also had takeaways from them. Also perfect.

I ordered the mixed starter which was okay none of the flavours really stood out to me they all pretty much tasted the same . The lamb Bhunna I ordered was also too sweet for my liking and lacked depth in its flavour . Overall it was an okay meal won’t be ordering again

The restaurant is very organised in their communication with customers and the place is very nicely decorated. i have been coming here with my family for a couple years now and we’ve never had any bad experiences with the food or waiters. The food presentation is perfection and doesn’t take long amounts of time. My last experience there was as usual great food and atmosphere, Ahad was very kind to us and offered us a complimentary drink at the end too. i recommend this place to anyone i know.

Went there for a friends leavers do was a party of 20 people the staff where very polite and friendly the atmosphere was lovely and had light music playing in the back we where offered great selection of foods to accommodate all dietary requirements the price was very reasonable and the food was amazing the way it was displayed on the plates was a 👍from us presentation was amazing would definitely recommend

The food here is always fantastic. I normally have the salmon special which is delicious. The staff are always accommodating and Ali is fantastic.
