Very delicious food And my kids really enjoyed food over there....dont take me wrong and take it positive way,this is my experience ,Dine in service little bit disappointed because we going to the counter again and again ,tell them I want this and that but counter boys (bhaji)not even interested to ask what we need or not or most of the time they forgot..One more thing they will try yo do better in future if 5 peoples are coming to your resturant please give them 5 glass of water ,not giving them only 2 glass of water because it doesn't look nice. So, not sure why I haven’t done this years ago but doing it now. This is by far the best place to come for traditional Punjabi food. I regularly drive plus 20 miles just to come here to get my weekend Aloo Paratha fix! Thank you Bala for the years of great food. It tastes just like how i remember my mums cooking .

The staffs are always friendly and you always get a hot, fresh and tasty food. The chilli chicken and Naan are highly recommended. They always take care of their customers well. Only downside is cash only, but worth it.

I saw all the reviews raving about the samosas and sweets and decided to try it. I’m so glad I did! The lamb samosa I got tasted amazing and was jam packed with filling

My colleagues and I ordered food from Bala for the first time to share at work.We all agreed that it was definitely 5 star, taste , quality and service. it was absolutely delicious. Piping hot very tasty and generous portions.When I rang to place the order the gentleman listened carefully to me and got everything right.Nothing missing no wrong orders.Bala will be our regular takeaway from now on.We can not wait to order again. Keep up the excellent service Bala.

THE place for a Friday night takeaway! One of the best samosa’s I’ve ever had and very much recommend the chilli chicken

What a great find! A small, family run Indian Cafe and takeaway. Alcohol cannot be purchased or brought with you and drunk inside. This is not a curry house, and so much better for it. It's not Bangladeshi, not Pakistani but honest to god, authentic Indian and it all about the food. Portion sizes are large. The chicken tikka roll, although described as a starter was the size of a main and took a good 15 minutes to eat. Chilli chicken curry was delicious but not hot - the chillies being mild and used for flavour instead of heat. The biryani was, apparently, stunning. Excellent value for money.

I went to Bala tonight to try out the food. I purchased two orders and mine was a Chicken Curry with Rice with additions of samosa and japatis. Firstly I was impressed with the pricing, second I was impressed with how much there was of the food including extras. When I ate the food I was hugely impressed with how tasty it was and decent it is. It's a natural, healthy and spicy curry. It must also be said that the curry differs from restaurant curry in that it fills you up without bloating you which is a sign of authenticity in the cooking. In my view adding everything up this is now my go to place to get a Curry in Bedford. I would have absolutely no problem in recommending this establishment to family and friends.

Food is fantastic. It may be a little on the spicy side for some but it’s really good. Samosas are brilliant and the naan is good too. Definitely worth a visit.

this is one of the best curry houses. Been going here for 20 years plus and still excellent. Great for quick meals, snacks or takeaways. Love the samosas. best potato and aubergine curry I've ever had and reasonably priced. Only thing to watch is they dont take credit cards, cash only.

Just had their biryani, I wouldn't say it's absolutely the best and comparable to restaurants in Indians but it has that nice home made taste to it. Definitely try it.

Make sure you check you have been given the food you ordered. Got all the way home otherside of Bedford to learn a dish was missing. Rather than enjoy a takeaway as a family I had to drive back across town to collect a missing main dish. Clearly need another system as this did not work & the rest of the food then cold & a waste of petrol. It as a shame as the food is lovely here hopefully better next time.

Food is slightly salty. Not so traditional Punjabi. I've tasted better traditional food.

So I landed in Cambridge for a house sit. By this point my eternal desire to find authentic homemade samosas began. I had the very good fortune to stumble upon this little Gem of a place. If your looking for genuine authentic Indian/Pak food, then look no further. The journey from Cambridge to Bedford was absolutely worth it. The samosas in my opinion are the best i have ever tasted. Almost as good as my mums. I honestly cannot rate this humble place enough. Highly Highly recommended.

I called Bala's to place a large order - I was told that majority of the food on their menu was not available and prices were fixed even though I would be placing an order for 60 ppl. The man on the phone told me if I didn't like the prices I could look elsewhere. Disgusting service and no manners !

Literally disappointed by the quantity they serve for egg fried rice. I never had a fried rice with "jeera" in it, so if you prefer proper Chinese fried rice, don't ever try visiting here. And even it didn't taste good. To be honest, disappointed!

Great customer service, great food and great arrange of food. 36 years that they have been here, the owner told me. Testament as to why there are still going strong. Ps. My wife attended Bala sweets 4 weeks ago travelled over 30minutes as she was told on the phone she needs to go in to place an order. On arrival the owner was really dismissive and rude. She explained why she was there and that she wanted to order food for 4 weeks time for a small get together of about 30 people. The owner said he cannot talk to her and come another time she explained she travelled and all she wanted to do was try a few vegetarian dishes so she could decide what to order ( at the time she was 34 weeks pregnant). He treated her like she was non existent, eventually communicated for a short period of time and explained he will not take her order until closer to the time. She left there feeling really upset due to the customer service and the way she was spoken to however she let it go as enjoys the food from there. Today she called to place the order as soon as he knew it was her he said he isn’t taking it, we have a birthday tomorrow and she is heavily pregnant she broke down in tears on the phone. I called the owner to ask why he thinks it’s acceptable to be so rude he said find somewhere else to order from don’t call here and hung up!!!!!absolutely insane behaviour from a business and such rude customer service. If you want nice food but poor service from the owner then go knock yourself out.

For anyone who knows there curries Rita’s in Southall is simply the best - I’ve just travelled to Bedford to sample Balas food and I’m Gona Say outstanding your up there with Rita’s ( well maybe second 😂

I have been tbere first time and bought "Gulaab Jamums" only, which I found quite good and very tasty. Definitely can recommend for gulaab jamins but haven't tried anything else yet, so don't know about other items.

We have been visiting here for over 20 years and the food is as good as it was then now. We always buy the Samosas and Pakoras when leaving, after eating in and sharing the most delicious Lamb curry and rice and bhindi bhaji. 😋 Price is spot on, service excellent. Owner and family always makes us welcome 🥰. Will be ordering my retirement food in next few weeks. Highly recommended 👌👍🏽

Lord have mercy. Never expected this from them, came back after years to them and had some tandoori chicken. Didnt taste right and stopped eating after the 3rd or 4th piece. Next day, I started dying for a week straight and had caught salmonella :) Samosa chaat was banging though.

Delicious gulab-jammun and other Indian sweets. And they do loads of other snacks and food you often won't get on Indian restauraunt menus. Seek it out. You won't regret finding this spicy little gem!

Tony and Deep were very welcoming and knew the menu like the back of their hands. After asking me a few questions about my likes/dislikes Tony made some great recommendations. 5/5 for friendly service and great tasting food which was cooked perfectly. Not too greasy and just the right amount of spice. Mixed Indian Sweet box for dessert is a must as you get a bit of everything. Well done Tony, Deep and the chef(s).

After 3 months of lockdown it was so lovely to get out and have a meal with my husband at Bala's. We were greeted warmly by the Owner and his wife and the staff. The place has recently been decorated, looking good.👍🏽 We ordered our usual that we have eaten for over 20 years, lamb curry, rice, bhindi bhaji and chapati. Soooo delicious, tasty and the spices just right. 😋 Thank you Bala's, look forward to another 20 years, see you soon 😊😊

seriously amazing food just had a chilli chicken curry, chicken biryani, roti and mango lassi and it seriously is the best Punjabi food IV ever tasted, so traditional and so tasty! definitely be my regular and I definitely will never be using any other curry house!

Best samosa in Bedford! Only 50p each!!

You get hot Samosas here for 55 pence which is good and authentic.. Never tried other stuff but Samosa is the fastest moving item . You get meat ones also but i prefer the veg option which is filled with potatoes.Its mostly take way food but you can sit there and eat and on the cheaper side.. All Indian punjabi styled sweets and food

Every time I visit my in-laws in Bedford I try to come here to get some of the big samosas they sell here. They are big, stuffed with spicy goodness and best of all, cheap! So of course, I end up buying a bag of at least 10 each time. I like the veg ones, since the meat used is lamb, which I can't stand, although my son does so he prefers those. I do have to take off a star because I was sure they would be open Christmas Day, like last year. We were leaving on C-day so thought we could just drive past, jump out and order some samosas for the road, literally. But alas, it was not to be....

Fantastic food great flavours and 100% authentic

We stopped in here for some lunch as it looked authentic. Not much to go on from the outside but the food was out of this world. I would come here every day if I could and try everything from the menu. We had the samosa chaat which was delicious and lots of vegetarian dishes. Highly recommended.
