You have never experienced Indian food like this until you have come here. The Chef is the best there is. Amazing flavours that are unique. Will not go to any other Indian restaurant now. Desh you simply are the best.

I recently visited over the bank holiday weekend and made a booking the day prior. We arrived early and were fortunately still able to get a seat as the restaurant was very busy (always a good sign). The waiting staff were very attentive and the service was superb. The food was amazing, some of the best tasting lamb I have had in a long time. I was recommended to try the lamb chops and they did not disappoint. Will definitely visit again if I'm in the area.

My husband and I came here for dinner and we absolutely loved the food, atmosphere and service. Everyone was really helpful and took extra precautions due to my allergy which I was really grateful for. My favourite menu items were the saag paneer and daal makhni. Thank you.

Our 2nd visit to Desh in West Malling and both times the food has been excellent. The menu choices are varied and a great selection for brunch/lunch if you want a smaller sized meal. The staff are very friendly and the atmosphere relaxed. So glad we found this place and look forward to returning for an evening meal soon.

It’s a Yesh for Desh. As someone with experience visiting India. This was like coming home. Brilliant food and service.

First the positives. The staff were brilliant, really friendly, attentive and polite. The restaurant itself is well kept, nice decor and looks clean. Unfortunately the rest of the experience was pretty disappointing. I appreciate that taste is subjective and I can see that the owners are trying to provide an alternative to the typical high street curry experience but I just didn’t enjoy it. Starters was chilli chicken, a kind of bizarre Chinese/Indian hybrid of pieces of low value chicken thighs/wings wrapped in a sweet sticky sauce with sesame seeds. Mains an underwhelming butter chicken dish with again predominantly thigh meat (and not much of it). I had some zeera aloo on the side which was effectively boiled potatoes with skins on, fried with a few spices, but oddly a bit flavourless. The papadams were ok but the sauces were bland. The menu was very limited and prices were higher than average which you don’t mind if it’s enjoyable. The supposed USP of this restaurant is the authenticity and again I guess it’s subjective but having spent 6 months travelling in India I have to say I didn’t ever come across food like this. Judging by the other reviews on here I seem to be in a minority but personally I found It all a bit strange and not for me.

Back again for another fab evening out. This time, girls night out for my birthday. Staff are, as always, so pleasant and helpful. Food is amazing, love the sea bass curry. The ambience on a Saturday night is brilliant. Lively, though not over bearing. Fabulous cocktails!! Great choice on the menu, and a must if you're a lover of spicy cuisine. Definitely coming back.

It is a delightful restaurant. The staff were friendly and attentive. The food was amazing. The portions were perfect size, so no waste .

As a group of three friends we chose Desh because it is local, but mainly because of its reputation for excellent modern Indian food. We also chose to go of a Tuesday because we had heard about Tuesday Thali nights. We were not disappointed. The Thali experience was a great way to try new flavours, served by helpful caring staff. Everything was explained and advice given on our choices. The restaurant is modern and spotless. We had a fabulous evening and will definitely return Thank you Desh!

Portions are too small. Food is excellent quality, but 4 small bits of chicken for a £14 curry is not great. Great service though.

I have been coming here since they first opened three years ago and have been a regular customer always recommended to others however tonight I was greeted at the door but the manger rudely explaining because I didn’t turn up for valentine's due to not being able to attend (after I tried to cancel no one answered) that I’m not welcome unless I personally phone them up and give them a deposit for any future bookings if I want to ever eat there again luckily I was with a friend not a business associate I felt utterly embarrassed and alienated I wish they had phoned me or taken me to one side if there was a problem or if I wasn’t welcome anymore such a shame their unprofessionalism has really ruined my experience I really wanted to turn around and go back out but had to make light of the situation in front of my friend and luckily I know one of the waitresses very well so she was lovely and made me feel a little more at ease the manger never smiled at me all night which I find strange as she was always so welcoming before this situation it really was very unpleasant experiences evening and my friends and family will not be returning again

Our second visit last night. Again a very good meal in a modern looking restaurant. The staff were attentive without being intrusive, we had a good evening. On our previous visit they were so good with one of our party who has several allergies, very impressed.

Very expensive and not really worth the money.

We celebrated my mother in laws birthday at Desh. We were a large party and I thought the service leading up to the booking and at the restaurant was great. Very professional and considerate. I asked them to put together a last minute slice of cake with a candle for a Happy Birthday and it was no problem- very accommodating! The food was also great.

The food was great. It is very different from normal Indian food. I usually have my normal, but I decided to try something different. I tried some small dishes, jungli tikka chicken, lamb tikka boti, lamb chops, zeera aloo. It was all lovely. The lamb chops were a bit average, but everything else was great.

What a gem. Dining on my own, as I was travelling on business, the staff were kind in finding me a little out-of-the-way corner, and from that welcoming smile and thoughtful attention onwards, were excellent throughout. The lamb chops on saag were perfect - beautifully marinaded and seasoned, grilled to almost-perfection (they could have had a tiny bit more char for my preference, but I appreciate that might not be everyone's taste) and nicely presented on a bed of fresh, vibrant, perfectly spiced wilted spinach. The accompanying dhal makhani, a useful barometer of a good Indian restaurant, was rich, creamy, aromatic and hearty on a cold November evening. The naan was also just right - fluffy yet crispy, and really delicious in a way bread often isn't. The Malbec '1300' was robust, juicy and kept pace with the big flavours of the lamb and the dhal. Meanwhile, the staff were delightful, kind, attentive without being too much, and it seemed that everyone else there was enjoying their meals too.

Fantastic Food & Service Group of 14, service was on point from greeting to service. Pre-ordered as a larger group, can credit highly an organised and super attentive and friendly service. Personalised delivery from order to dishes to the table, staff were fantastic, enthusiastic and knowledgeable. Not one negative. Thank you and a big shout to Enya, Nathan, Marie, Charlotte and Rhiannon that serviced our table. Food was exceptional, the flavours were outstanding! Amazing thank you. We will be back!

This was lovely place for lunch. Really enjoyed the popadoms whilst we read the menu. Had a couple of the main meals were both delicious.

Chilli chicken combo is a scam and you should order the starter and chips seperately. You will receive the same amount of food, but with more chips and £3 cheaper. Woman on the phone tried to gaslight me into believing this wasn't the case, while I stared at the food in front of me. Shame, because the food wasn't too bad.

Party of 8 friends and we enjoyed superb food and perfect service. The food is amazing and cut above the usual. Thoroughly recommended.

Food is good but our starter came when we had eaten half our main course. Then when we came to pay they added extras onto the bill what we didn’t even order or receive and didn’t even apologise for charging extra and the starter being late.

Had been told this restaurant was amazing afraid to say it isnt. Over hyper and over priced. £6 for poppadoms that were dripping in oil. The only decent part was the curry we had and even then £15/£16 for a couple pieces of meat seems...

Haven't been to west malling for many a year , But what a lovely spot to have lunch...food was delicious..and got to talking Rhiannon about the area and was the perfect host and will definitely go back for dinner in the evening.

Great cocktails - loved the Berry Desh with fruit, grenadine and a brilliant balancing hint of ginger. The Traditional sharing meal was wonderful too with lovely marinated half roast chicken, gorgeous beef biryani and a wonderful dhal murkhani

It really does pain me to be giving you this review as I have come to know the staff very well and get on with them they are lovely people always very friendly but after coming here from first opening and being loyal customers last night I had to say was not a great experience since coming back to you after a break away we were extremely disappointed with the food the standard has massively dropped After ordering the food it came out in a matter of minutes so pre made up rather than fresh and it really wasn’t up to its past high standards It was not flavored with anything but extreme spice and heat bearing in mind it was a butter curry so normally very mild and tasty before The bread was average also All in all what was a little gem we looked forward to eating at has become another generic restaurant which I’m so disappointed to write I really hope you guys can pull it back up to the standard it us to be so we can come back and enjoy again as at this stage I regretfully think we wouldn’t return

What a fantastic experience. We stopped for lunch with some friends and a few toddlers in tow. The staff could not have been any more helpful with my wife’s gluten free / coeliac requirements. Every item off the small plates menu was top notch, reminded me of my Indian father’s cooking as a child. And butter chicken sauce as a side portion, just brilliant ha. We also accidentally left a phone on the table and the waitress must have ran after us towards the entrance to Manor Park, hats off. That’s what you call customer service. Our friends and our family will, without question be visiting again.

Visited with a few friends for first time. The waitresses were very friendly and provided excellent service. Poppadoms and dips were ordered. They were light and tasty and a portion for 2 was quite large. I had the beef biryani which was tasty but for me I found it a bit dry. This might be how it should be but I'd wouldn't have it again. My friends had the lamb shank rogan josh and they were really impressed by the flavour and the shank was huge with plenty of meat. Another friend had the half cooked chicken which she said was delicious. A good evening and would definitely visit again.

My overall experience was nice until I was given a alcoholic mocktail!!?? When placing my order I made sure to order a mocktail as I don't drink alcohol! At first I just thought the mocktail did taste different, Every place makes it differently and I don't like making a fuss so I continued to drink it. Not long after I started feeling a burning sensation in my chest and just thought that wasn't normal and I started feeling super hot. So I asked the waiter who worked behind the bar as he walked past the table if he had put alcohol in this drink he replied with yes, I then said I asked for a non alcoholic drink I mean I had a hijab on if that wasn't enough of a clue. I was then approached by another waitress who apologised and said the lady behind the bar just presumed it was a cocktail, the drink was replaced but to be honest I didn't drink it and it was taken of the bill. Honestly just felt like they did not understand the seriousness of serving someone alcohol, could be for many reasons religion medical pregnant etc, perhaps something should be put in place in order for this not to happen again. This is a big deal!! Food - starters was great but the mains (curries) seemed very watered down, didn't have much depth to the sauce.

Food rather good. Great service. Excellent value. Small plates we chose were a bit average (chicken, Dahl, among others), but mainsmade up for it: Dahl makhani , lamb, butter paneer, chicken tikka - all particularly recommendable.
