Desh in Tonbridge and Malling

Staff were excellent and very helpful on recommendations. Food was very tasty. The Aloo Tikki Chaat, Chilli Chicken and Lamb Achari were very good. We will definitely be back

Best restaurant in West Malling! The food tastes fresh and full of flavour. The service is always attentive and no rushing. We have visited a few times now and have never had a bad meal.

Such a great night. Lovely, amazing staff so if you are in West Malling I would definitely recommend going. Coming from Bradford, curry is important to us. I've never had anything that comes close beyond my home town, but Desh is a lovely place with fabulous staff and enjoyable food. It's a must place to visit if you are in the area.

The food was a little on the spicy side. There wasn't any indication of spice strength on the menu.

Extremely disappointed firstly at the cost a curry is a curry ,sauce and meat or vegetables doesn't warrant a price of £15.50 just for a Korma.Service was OK a curry was forgotten about and the chips that arrived was dropped on the table. I'll stick to my local curry house where a beautiful Dhansak is £6.95. Being in west malling and putting al carte on your menu shouldn't make a curry over priced.

We went for the Sunday roast. Amazing twist on the traditional English meal.

Excellent service and quality of food

Great food! And if you go on Tuesdays, they offer a special menu where you can choose a variety of item in small portions, so you get a chance to try everything. And their Chili Chicken starter dish is out of this world! I’ve never had anything like it, so highly recommend.

Definitely a five star experience. We will definitely be back again

Absolutely incredible experience, best restaurant I've been to in a long time. The staff were all so friendly and helpful. They recommended particular dishes to our preference, which turned out to be perfect. The food was delicious, best authentic Indian food I've had locally, and probably the best garlic naan ever! Would 100% recommend

Great cocktails - loved the Berry Desh with fruit, grenadine and a brilliant balancing hint of ginger. The Disarrono Anar was wonderful on my most recent visit. The Traditional sharing meal was wonderful too with lovely marinated half roast chicken, gorgeous beef biryani and a wonderful dhal murkhani. On my most recent visit both of us branched out to try new dishes and all were fantastic, so I'd encourage you to try whatever looks appealing.

Some of the best Indian food I've eaten. Their cocktails are yummy. Try their chocolate samosas and gulab jamun, you will thank me. Service is always welcoming.

It's possibly one of the best authentic meals I have had. The staff are so welcoming. Us and our friends had such a great night. We will definitely be coming back.

Rather underwhelmed by the decor, food and service.... Booked a table, turned up to a sad looking restaurant interior. I was told all the tables are free go find your own and I'll bring a menu. (Not seated) Everywhere looked unclean I got poppadoms and a coke after being asked Five minutes later two lads bowl in clearly regulars, get seated personally with menus drinks and poppadoms straight away and their order taken before I even got a menu. After another 15 minutes I finished my snacks (that tasted awful) got up and left. I never even got to see a menu or order any food.. I'd give the premises a 1/10 Service 2/10 because the young lad was good The little food I tried also a 1 The mint sauce tasted awful and wa like water, the mango chutney was out of a jar and the other sauce was acrid and tasted like a tapas side out of Asda. I couldn't be more dissapointed and for west malling I'm shocked..

I had a lovely Sunday roast at The Desh today . I went for the beef . The hint of spice enfused into the food was perfect . I'd definitely recommend it and will return . The service was excellent and friendly . Thank you .

Had a takeaway from Desh last night. Wonderful food. Not your standard curry house. Bought the set meal, everything was tasty, with delicate balances of flavours. It lived up to the hype.

Fantastic food, authentic and great taste. Quite a small selection of fish/vegetarian options & expensive with £4 for a small serving of rice… but curries themselves are excellent

A fabulous Indian twist on a Sunday roast. Your chosen meat is pre ordered in advance, we had the beef and chicken but the lamb shank looked fab too and fell off the bone. We absolutely loved it !

The Garlic Naan was one of the best naans I've had, you can actually taste the garlic! Everything was well presented and the food was lovely and more classy to your usual Indian/Bangladesh restaurant. Great selection of cocktails and the decor was lovely. We all said we would return.

absoloutley horrible food and staff, i witnessed a customer find a cockroach in their food and the staff tried to hide it and treated the customer inhumaine and dragged him out because of his complaint. the food wasnt that great and bland. not woth the money and the chicken tasted like it was offff

i found a dead insect in my food fried and curled up, lookeed like a cockroach and i pointed it out to the waiters and they quickly took my plate before i can take a picture then when it came to paying they charged me even though my apittite was gone and i didnt want anymore food. when i refused to pay they assalted me by grabbing me on my hand and throwing me out. food was bland and horrible stafff

Been to Desh before , always left very happy. This🤷🏼 occasion was my 50th all the staff have gone above and beyond to make my meal amazing, the food is always 5star but the service is amazing. Thank you for making my birthday a very special one. Liz x

I recently visited over the bank holiday weekend and made a booking the day prior. We arrived early and were fortunately still able to get a seat as the restaurant was very busy (always a good sign). The waiting staff were very attentive and the service was superb. The food was amazing, some of the best tasting lamb I have had in a long time. I was recommended to try the lamb chops and they did not disappoint. Will definitely visit again if I'm in the area.

My husband and I came here for dinner and we absolutely loved the food, atmosphere and service. Everyone was really helpful and took extra precautions due to my allergy which I was really grateful for. My favourite menu items were the saag paneer and daal makhni. Thank you.

Our 2nd visit to Desh in West Malling and both times the food has been excellent. The menu choices are varied and a great selection for brunch/lunch if you want a smaller sized meal. The staff are very friendly and the atmosphere relaxed. So glad we found this place and look forward to returning for an evening meal soon.

Visited Desh over 5 times now and cant knock them at all, every time the food and service has been 10/10.

Really lovely Sunday lunch. The onion bjahi stuffing balls were amazing! Desert samosas were a special treat too. Will definitely be back again!

Nice atmosphere and delicious food!

It’s a Yesh for Desh. As someone with experience visiting India. This was like coming home. Brilliant food and service.

First the positives. The staff were brilliant, really friendly, attentive and polite. The restaurant itself is well kept, nice decor and looks clean. Unfortunately the rest of the experience was pretty disappointing. I appreciate that taste is subjective and I can see that the owners are trying to provide an alternative to the typical high street curry experience but I just didn’t enjoy it. Starters was chilli chicken, a kind of bizarre Chinese/Indian hybrid of pieces of low value chicken thighs/wings wrapped in a sweet sticky sauce with sesame seeds. Mains an underwhelming butter chicken dish with again predominantly thigh meat (and not much of it). I had some zeera aloo on the side which was effectively boiled potatoes with skins on, fried with a few spices, but oddly a bit flavourless. The papadams were ok but the sauces were bland. The menu was very limited and prices were higher than average which you don’t mind if it’s enjoyable. The supposed USP of this restaurant is the authenticity and again I guess it’s subjective but having spent 6 months travelling in India I have to say I didn’t ever come across food like this. Judging by the other reviews on here I seem to be in a minority but personally I found It all a bit strange and not for me.

Desh is a fantastic restaurant. The food is fabulous every time and the service great.

As a group of three friends we chose Desh because it is local, but mainly because of its reputation for excellent modern Indian food. We also chose to go of a Tuesday because we had heard about Tuesday Thali nights. We were not disappointed. The Thali experience was a great way to try new flavours, served by helpful caring staff. Everything was explained and advice given on our choices. The restaurant is modern and spotless. We had a fabulous evening and will definitely return Thank you Desh!

Back again for another fab evening out. This time, girls night out for my birthday. Staff are, as always, so pleasant and helpful. Food is amazing, love the sea bass curry. The ambience on a Saturday night is brilliant. Lively, though not over bearing. Fabulous cocktails!! Great choice on the menu, and a must if you're a lover of spicy cuisine. Definitely coming back.

I have been coming here since they first opened three years ago and have been a regular customer always recommended to others however tonight I was greeted at the door but the manger rudely explaining because I didn’t turn up for valentine's due to not being able to attend (after I tried to cancel no one answered) that I’m not welcome unless I personally phone them up and give them a deposit for any future bookings if I want to ever eat there again luckily I was with a friend not a business associate I felt utterly embarrassed and alienated I wish they had phoned me or taken me to one side if there was a problem or if I wasn’t welcome anymore such a shame their unprofessionalism has really ruined my experience I really wanted to turn around and go back out but had to make light of the situation in front of my friend and luckily I know one of the waitresses very well so she was lovely and made me feel a little more at ease the manger never smiled at me all night which I find strange as she was always so welcoming before this situation it really was very unpleasant experiences evening and my friends and family will not be returning again

Our second visit last night. Again a very good meal in a modern looking restaurant. The staff were attentive without being intrusive, we had a good evening. On our previous visit they were so good with one of our party who has several allergies, very impressed.

Very expensive and not really worth the money.

We celebrated my mother in laws birthday at Desh. We were a large party and I thought the service leading up to the booking and at the restaurant was great. Very professional and considerate. I asked them to put together a last minute slice of cake with a candle for a Happy Birthday and it was no problem- very accommodating! The food was also great.

The food was great. It is very different from normal Indian food. I usually have my normal, but I decided to try something different. I tried some small dishes, jungli tikka chicken, lamb tikka boti, lamb chops, zeera aloo. It was all lovely. The lamb chops were a bit average, but everything else was great.

Food is out of this world. Tastes amazing and cooked to perfection! Not your average Indian cuisine by any stretch of the imagination! Have been many times and will continue to do so ! 😀

What a gem. Dining on my own, as I was travelling on business, the staff were kind in finding me a little out-of-the-way corner, and from that welcoming smile and thoughtful attention onwards, were excellent throughout. The lamb chops on saag were perfect - beautifully marinaded and seasoned, grilled to almost-perfection (they could have had a tiny bit more char for my preference, but I appreciate that might not be everyone's taste) and nicely presented on a bed of fresh, vibrant, perfectly spiced wilted spinach. The accompanying dhal makhani, a useful barometer of a good Indian restaurant, was rich, creamy, aromatic and hearty on a cold November evening. The naan was also just right - fluffy yet crispy, and really delicious in a way bread often isn't. The Malbec '1300' was robust, juicy and kept pace with the big flavours of the lamb and the dhal. Meanwhile, the staff were delightful, kind, attentive without being too much, and it seemed that everyone else there was enjoying their meals too.

Fantastic Food & Service Group of 14, service was on point from greeting to service. Pre-ordered as a larger group, can credit highly an organised and super attentive and friendly service. Personalised delivery from order to dishes to the table, staff were fantastic, enthusiastic and knowledgeable. Not one negative. Thank you and a big shout to Enya, Nathan, Marie, Charlotte and Rhiannon that serviced our table. Food was exceptional, the flavours were outstanding! Amazing thank you. We will be back!

Chilli chicken combo is a scam and you should order the starter and chips seperately. You will receive the same amount of food, but with more chips and £3 cheaper. Woman on the phone tried to gaslight me into believing this wasn't the case, while I stared at the food in front of me. Shame, because the food wasn't too bad.

Family meal out and as always Desh didn’t disappoint, service is always so friendly and food was as tasty as always our family all love it there and it definitely won’t be long until we return👍
