Really enjoyed my Shakshuka...it epitomises what the "Lounge" brand is all about...interesting varied menu served in comfortable surroundings at prices that give some value. Well worth dropping in for a pint and a plate.

Went to this bar on a friends recommendation. HUGE mistake! We waited at the bar for service when finally, we spotted the (diminutive) bar person, with a face full of apathy, indifference & contempt. We ordered but almost immediately decided to leave due to this bar staffs hostile attitude. Why these kind of people are allowed to have any interaction with customers is beyond me. Won’t be coming in again, one to definitely avoid!

This will short review as we walked out before we even got a drink. The bar staff ignored us and then we went to her she greeted with disdain. We ordered our drinks and the surliness continued so we decided to depart. This place used to have really engaging staff and I was embarrassed that I'd encouraged my friend to come to such a rude experience.

This was my first time here for dinner. We were not disappointed. Myself and my friends all had different meals but they all looked lovely. We took advantage of the 2-1 Cocktails which made them good value for money. It was a nice evening out but we all agreed that the prices were a bit high for what we received. Ok for a special treat but not for a general evening out.

Honestly, ignore the ‘fake’ reviews. I’ve been to more than one of the lounges, this was my first time in Shirley. Food and service is second to none. All of the lounges are very popular due to their diverse menu that isn’t akin to a pizza place, burger joint or an Indian/Chinese. Value for money is spot on in this day and age. Thank you Jorja for great service and a smile. We will be back!!!!

Visited for breakfast. Amazing with allergies. Nothing was too much trouble. Very knowledgeable and as a coeliac I felt safe eating. Food was hot and delicious.

I have not been here before so my sister and myself decided to pop in for Breakfast whilst out shopping. The food was lovely, fresh and hot and drinks the same. We were served by two different ladies who were courteous and pleasant.

Friendly service, poached eggs were vaguely warm on the tiniest bagel with salmon , £10!? no de caff coffee? We sat upstairs, mirrors on the wall were filthy, worst thing was it’s freezing 🥶 in there, nice place fab decor but too expensive for the small portions and felt a little dirty especially behind the tills were the bins were not nice Wouldn’t return tbh

Desco is always a good place to meet friends for a coffee in Shirley. Have popped in several times during the summer for coffees and drinks and have been welcomed by staff, served quickly and enjoyed the Desco experience.

Went after the cinema because we fancied cocktails Desco didn't disappoint!! Food really good too, cheeky Monday offer well worth coming down for, great night at Desco!

Our party of eight a great time here on cheeky Monday after seeing Barbie! Only fancied a cocktail but wound up staying for food and more cocktails. We’d not been able to come to Desco for a while and are kicking ourselves now! A real bargain with the Monday offer which goes a long way at the minute, and our whole group had a brilliant evening. Staff were lovely and really made the experience for us. Great to see one of Parkgate’s staples thriving!

I would NOT recommend going to the Desco Lounge in Shirley unless you like to pay to be sworn at and be treated with aggression by the serving staff which is condoned by management. Terrible evening - went to meet our friend who is back in the UK after moving to Spain. Employee/server, Jack pictured above, swore at my husband calling him a p***k because he asked if he could sit at the sofa area as you come in. The incident was reported to the General Manager (GM) Rob, who agreed that the behaviour was unacceptable and inappropriate. Rob refused to provide surnames claiming it is not company policy. However, Jack came to our table following our discussion with Rob and was verbally was aggressive towards me and my husband following the initial report to the GM. When this additional incident was reported to Rob the GM he said he would talk to Jack after his shift indicating that he condones Jack’s behaviour and was happy to treat the remaining customers in this manner. This behaviour is appalling, inappropriate and unacceptable! Jack and Rob need to be made aware that paying customers pay their salary too. Jack needs to find a job that is not customer facing or undergo comprehensive training and Rob also needs to undergo people management training and customer service training. I have never been so insulted! We are Shirley residents have been patrons of the Desco Lounge since it opened. In all the years we have visited the Desco Lounge we have never been spoken to in this disgusting manner or been subject to aggressive and threatening behaviour by the staff. The standard of service has deteriorated drastically since the new team have been working in situ. As Rob, the GM, was totally ineffective at dealing with the situation and ensuring our safety, our party of 6 chose to leave the restaurant with our daughter leaving in tears. This incident will be reported to Rob’s manager, Vesele - again no surname provided.

I’m still dreaming of the food I had there today!!! So nice, everything was cooked to perfection. Service was impeccable. The people that work here are so lovely, especially a beautiful, tall, blonde lady whose name we didn’t catch but who showed us to our table & then when her shift had ended & we were still eating she checked in with us to make sure we were happy before she left to collect her children. Thank you so much the food & service was incredible plus the massive selection of soft drinks was really appealing.

Staff is nice and so is the decoration. A lot of the foods ok but a few items are poor. Service is slow and barcodes on tables don't often work.

If you want to eat from people who love not washing there hands and cheap crap go for it I never go there again

Remembering last year when we came here I asked to make sure the plates were hot what the breakfast was coming on , 😂 yes the plate was hot with cold mushrooms, beans and tomato, hash browns nice and hot sausage was just about warm toast had gone soft with egg on top of it reminded me why I haven’t been in since last year breakfast was cold then as well I really don’t understand how you can wait 20 minutes for a breakfast and it’s not even hot.

Came for a quick meal before listening to the Birmingham Symphonia concert at Shirley Methodist Church. Made to feel very welcome. Bar staff are delightful. A customer leaving as we entered offered fulsome praise of the food. Two steaks were well prepared. The buttermilk fried chicken was absolutely delicious. Thank you for your impeccable hospitality.

Me and my friends have been coming to Desco lounge for a while now but I can truthfully say this will be the last time that we visit. We ordered 2 lounge breakfast, whilst the drinks arrived promptly we had to wait a fair while for our food. When it arrived the bacon was burnt and the beans were cold. I went to the bar to speak to one of the servers as none had bothered to come and check back our food and were clearly far too busy on a Monday afternoon to accommodate us. The portion size difference was crazy aswell considering we had the same meal! We wanted to order some extra beans and toast so we asked one of the ‘waitresses’ if we could order with her, she answered very abruptly we don’t do table service. And were told we have to go to the bar or order online. It was as if we were being a pain asking her these questions. As we were waiting for our fresh beans our food was getting cold so once it had been 10 minutes since we had ordered the beans I asked the same server how long they would be she replied ‘you haven’t been waiting 10 minutes’ so I showed her the proof on my order. She walked away as I was still speaking with her and a few minutes later returned with my food. I wouldn’t even understand this behaviour if she was new as she was so rude to us, as if she forgot we were the guests. The worst thing is when you order online it asks if you would like to tip! The cheek of it!🤣 a tip for what? You have to order online so what exactly am I tipping for! For these reasons I will not be returning. I would suggest some staff training or perhaps just get some manners.

Menu looked great…I was disappointed with results. I had high hopes after searching for a good breakfast on my visit for my birthday with my family. The menu was suitable, lots of choice so it seemed. I ordered a avocado smash with a poached egg. What I got was a piece of white bread with avo/onion/massive chunks of tomato and egg. It tasted horrible and the presentation was iffy. All for 8.50 pounds. I’m not one to complain but did mention the white bead was a disappointment, they claimed to have ran out. They did offer another breakfast, and I chose the poached eggs on muffin with mushrooms. The toasted muffin was not toasted and the mushrooms looked like they had been boiled last week. (I didn’t know you could boil mushrooms!) Again, I mentioned it - but at this point I was just hungry and ate it. Staff gave the impression they didn’t care too much, it was an expensive breakfast for all of us and we will NOT be back.

I visited today for breakfast with my children and granddaughter. All the meals were fine and the service was fast and easy using the website. I even gave a tip, which is an option when ordering online and direct to your table. I ordered the stack of 3 pancakes with berries and mascarpone cheese. The mascarpone was definitely ‘off’, it had that sour milk/ sickly smell and taste and it covered one out of the three pancakes and the berries. I told a male member of staff that I was sure it was ‘off’, only to be told sorry and that was that. I had paid £42 in total for this breakfast and I feel like really I should have received a refund for that one meal. To serve ‘off’ food isn’t really acceptable. I hate to leave bad reviews for any business, especially under this current financial climate, but we’re all in the same position. My daughter wasn’t happy and chatted to another member of staff at the bar as we left. They did say next time we could get a free meal, but I have nothing to prove that, no voucher or anything and would they even remember? Customer complaints should be listened to and dealt with better.

Having been to Desco Lounge many times, we came for an all day breakfast on a Sunday morning. Virtually everything was cold; not what you want in an English cooked breakfast. As we were sitting outside, there was no one around to complain too. Such a shame as we have previously really enjoyed Desco Lounge.

I have just arrived home after eating out here with a friend and I am so DISAPPOINTED and upset, I feel the need to write a review. When ordering, she was very specific about what food she was intolerant too, she even wrote it down for the chef. Unfortunately when the meal arrived it was not what she had politely requested. Eventually, after putting bits of food to one side that she was UNABLE TO EAT due to dietary issues, she was left with very little on the plate so decided to get a refund. As it wasn't just a minor mistake, she didn't feel confident enough to ask for a replacement or an alternative dish. These errors have completely ruined my evening out as I had to sit there eating my food in front of an extremely hungry person!!! I felt so guilty that I rushed my meal and we left. Very unsatisfied

Can't believe I haven't been in here before now! Has to be Shirley's best bar/restaurant.Spacious, well decked out place with mucho kitsch artwork adorning the walls.Staff are excellent and Covid19 rules followed very closely.Only popped in for a beer and a lite bite so no extensive review on this occasion.Oh yeah. During a busy last night of Eat out to Help Out scheme, Descos Lounge offered excellent service with a smile. Gluten free options here are very good - especially the GF friend chicken. Our table had complicated orders but staff handled it with a good manner, were quick and ensured all allergies were accounted for. Will return.

Desco Lounge offers affordable food which taste good. Dishes are made to order. The restaurant has a great offer on a Mondays- get any burger or main and get a dessert or drink for free. Their gluten free fried chicken is the best I've tried (and there have been many). The gluten free brownie and ice cream is so yummy, it was sold out on our visit tonight - you know a gluten free product is good when people who aren't allergic order it! They obviously make it fresh as by the end of the meal it was available again and was a good end to our meal. Decent coffee too with non diary milks available. It has a gluten free, vegan and regular menu. The food of Desco's is tasty and affordable, atmosphere is laid back casual and this is both family and dog friendly. Staff are well humoured and attentive.

Great family & dog friendly restaurant/bar. Something for everyone fab selection of food and drinks, staff are always super friendly and helpful. Definitely our favourite local place to chill rain or shine for a sunny cocktail or a bottle of red!

Great atmosphere and vegan food that is better than any other restaurant I’ve been to. Really considerate and friendly staff! I also really appreciated the way they were handling the social distancing and keeping people to their seats, I’ve been to many other places since the opening of bars and food places and this has been the most well managed. Will be coming again.

It has become a regular spot for lunch as we have enjoyed the food and friendly atmosphere. We have tried quite a few of the options on the menu, from a fish finger sandwich to burgers and the Lounge eggs, all have been well presented and tasty. Staff are helpful and efficient, the tables are cleaned and disinfected after every customer.

Popped in for lunch with the family today, we were all shocked at how efficient the team were. There was not a spare seat in the place yet, the team didn’t stop, constantly working the room, ensuring the place was clean and tidy. Getting tables turned over for the next people waiting. The food was great and as always a great place to be. Keep up the great work Desco

I went for dinner with friends last night and any concerns over feeling safe and well looked were immediately alleviated by the friendly and attentive staff. Food was top-notch, as always, and a great time was had by us all. Thank you Desco, looking forward to coming back again soon x

As the title states, I am in the business of procuring artfully bound, fine leather tomes. After a long and strenuous day of admiring my fine, leather tomes by candlelight in my oak-panelled library, I enjoy nothing more than a vegan breakfast and a Biscoff cheesecake cocktail at 9:55pm while I browse the internet on the wireless internet, provided free of charge to patrons.He has been mentioned in other reviews prior to my musings, but I especially appreciate the labours of the willowy, lissom gentleman with the hooped ear-ring.I only wish they did a continental breakfast on weekends: the danish pastry, from Brussels. Yoghurt, which flows like water in Greece. A true delight to the senses.I’ll have what I’m having!

Looking after our friends' dog we took her to Desco for her first pub experience. Loved it! She made friends with the boss's retriever Sunny and other pups. The staff opened the goodie cupboard and plied her with doggie treats. What's not to love?!

This has especially delighted every venture into lovely, impeccable Shirley. When I think how I need mojitos, everyone serves a very exceptional, yummy, outrageous, unmatchable, resilient, stupendous, enormous, liquid. Very efficient service.

Was a bit worried about going out during the current situation but walked past Desco Lounge and thought I'd pop in for a quick drink and a bite to eat as it looked like a safe and spacious place to go. I could order drinks from the safety of my own table and was under no pressure to finish up and leave like some other places. Plenty of space between other tables and a large clear area to order safely from the bar if you wish to. Prices were fair, food was good, staff friendly quick and attentive. All round an inviting and safe place to drink!

Popped in today with a friend for some lunch. Fantastic food, drinks were delicious and the Lady Manager on the bar, Grace was so lovely! Made us laugh, great service and made us feel so welcome which is reassuring these days in these uncertain times. Love the decor too! Thank you Desco lounge I’ll definitely be back soon!

Visited here with my third wife Braylee and her two sons, Bairon & Tannis. Particularly enjoyed the bearded man, the long-haired man, and the tall, slender boy in the long-sleeved shirt. Nice to see such a diverse workforce.Food was delicious and the staff alluring. We travel extensively - for business *and* pleasure, and belong to a global network of likeminded individuals, so will be sharing our experience through the relevant channels.Will be visiting again...

Desco is always my first choice when arranging a meeting with a client or food with friends. It’s quirky, clean and the staff are super friendly. When so many businesses (including big chains) are struggling in Shirley desco is thriving and that is all down to the amazing staff. Can’t recommend this place enough. LET’S GO... DESCO!

Really enjoyed their vegetarian Taps and our son really enjoyed his steak . The only down side was that the social distancing was a bit lax.

We popped in for a drink after shopping. The bar staff were friendly and the drinks refreshing. Relaxing environment and you can sit out on their frontage if you prefer the open air. Highly recommended.

As we live close by, we've eaten out at Desco quite a few times so it was an obvious choice last night. We arrived around 6 PM and chose a table inside, although there was the option to sit out in the early evening sunshine. Hand gel is available on entry, tables are socially distanced and you have the option of ordering via their website whilst seated or ordering from the counter behind a perspex screen. My husband chose a burger with fries with a glass of stout while I went for Halloumi and falafel salad with lime and chilli dressing and a glass of procesco. With the discount, this came to £22! What a bargain! We followed this with a chocolate brownie and ice cream and a sundae with raspberry compote, another pint of stout and a coffee. This was £11. Everything was totally delicious and the service excellent. We'll be back.

Just arrived in Solihull we were looking for a great place for a good dinner. We discovered Desco Lounge: cool design, friendly staff and very good diner. So good, that we decided to take a breakfast next morning! The breakfast (see photo) was scrumptious. We will come back.

Been here before for drinks with family. Thought I would pop in here for a coffee and sneaky bacon sandwich while my good lady finally gets her hair done.The food and coffee came swiftly with a small NHS ticket, which I guess you can optionally fill in. I choose to do so to help out any traceability.The sand which was delightful.The staff are very professional and friendly considering these harsh times.I will definitely come here again and again.

Oh so nice to be back at Desco lounge! Actually went twice this week - once for a meal and then called in for drinks. The layout has changed ever so slightly and I actually like it better than it was before. Great to see Bruce and the team again - there're obviously delighted to be back in business. Since the lockdown ended some of the places that have reopened feel a little sterile and lifeless but I have to say Desco has hit the ground running and their vibe is 100% back to what it used to be. If you're a little anxious about venturing out again well this could be the ideal venue - it's spotlessly clean and the high ceilings and large doors give an airey and reassuring feel. And of course they've got the terrace out front. Great food and lovely staff. See you again soon guys!

I went early evening the second day of opening after lockdown. I have to say I had a lovely experience. The precautions they have taken are simple. You can sit where there are menu's, the tables are distanced and menu are single use.There is an option to pay via the website or the bar. The menu had a good selection and was very pleased as someone with a wheat allergy that there were many options for me to pick from and were very accommodating.The staff were lovely, smiley and made the place have a nice atmosphereThe food was good. I had a gluten free burger which did not fall apart and was a good consistency. My mum had a mexican superbowl. which was tasty. Our drinks were awesome and gluten free dessert was a very nice end.overall Ii will be back soon as could not fault the experience.

I've been here a few times. The food is great, the drinks are too. Some people might find the cocktails limited in variety but I would argue that they are so tasty that it doesn't matter. It also stops you spending ages choosing from a massive list. Great for adults and children. There is a corner with children's toys and books. Dogs are welcome and they even have some dog treats on the side. Upstairs tends to be more adult while downstairs has usually been more child friendly when I've been there.

We did have a dubious trip a while ago, but the Descos team were very quick to respond and do everything to reprieve this visit and i have to say it worked well. We have since been back another 2 times and its great to see it back to its original form. Fantastic staff, great food and drinks. Ambiance is great and fab to take the family. Thanks for listening and cant wait to go again!

Lovely restaurant with great vegan options. The brunch was really delicious washed down with pink lemonade. Staff are friendly.

Haven’t been to ‘Desco Lounge' for about a year now..& decided to hook up with friends here at the weekend! As always a lively,busy atmosphere with its Funky decor & a real mix of people...& Dog friendly! I think every other table had a canine companion! The staff behind the bar are very efficient & friendly! We chose a few sides to nibble on with our G&T’s! Cheesy Chips & Halloumi Fries with Chilli Jam. Lovely..but very disappointed with the portion size of the dishes. Quite shocked actually at the amount that was served..tiny wee bowls.. for the price we paid was.. However,great atmosphere & fab place to chill.

Vegetarian breakfast was overcooked and cold, with a big delay , very nice interior but food was a let down
