We had our golden girls reunion and had an amazing lunch we all enjoyed the food very much it was delicious. Also the service was fantastic Alex our waiter was so attentive and met all our demands. We will definately be back

We ordered a selection of starters and they brought out the wrong food, when we stated they put the wrong order through the younge waiter told us to reorder online I explained we arnt repaying for something we haven’t ordered and he explained that’s what I’ve been told what he was told so we won’t be visiting here again,

Brilliant dinner! Our waiter Callum was super in his recommendations and very attentive. Chateaubriand for two was delicious! Will be back!

Decent guinness (G split on first attempt), local ale warm but enjoyable, best table in house reserved but sniped upon entry, didnt try the food, atmos severly lacking non-race day despite bank holiday, decent stop for a mid epsom venture, faceless corporation of a pub destoying the british local saved by a decent table

Just moved to the area so popped in for dinner. First and last time. The chaps taking the orders behind the bar couldn’t care less. Ordered food which took 45m to come on a fairly quiet night.. they just shrugged. Ordered dessert and not only did that take another 40m but it was the wrong one and they just said “sorry about that”. In the economy, where eating out is becoming more and more of a luxury, it’s just not good enough to be so ambivalent about foul ups anymore

the service was good (yet incredibly slow despite not many people being there, but it was fine as we were family catching up) and staff were friendly, food was very good. only issue was the very uneven floor which wasn't good for my nan who needs to use a walking stick. but that isn't really the fault of the restaurant themselves so im not complaining.

It is a beautiful restaurant to invite your family or friends. The service was very good, and I enjoyed my meal immensely.

Just had a great Sunday lunch with family. Food and venue are great and our waiter Matthew was outstanding - he really made the occasion special.

Dont know if they’ve changed the management and/or staff there recently, but on the last couple of occasions I’ve visited the staff have been surly, unhelpful and unfriendly. Almost like they are doing you a favour by serving you. Didn’t make for an enjoyable experience and, after dining there very happily for many years, I’ll be looking for somewhere more welcoming in future.

First time at the Derby Arms despite being a local. We usually go to the Grumpy Mole or the Rubbing House if we do go to the downs. First impressions weren't particularly great, wobbly table, very loud atmosphere. The latter I usually like, but throughout the evening, being near the 'do not exit' door, we seemed to be swamped by 'youth' doing exactly that, using the door to enter/exit, so felt a little like rush-hour on the Bakerloo line with staff constantly trying to prevent this . Staff were great, and food was good. That said, it was pay day, half-term, so maybe a one off. Worth going I'd say, as the staff were trying their best, just didn't feel like the prices on the menu reflected the ideal of a classy restaurant, if that makes sense. Felt at times like a rowdy pub, that sold food, good food though, so 3/5. Will come back again in the hope the pub-oriented 'clientele' are fewer than today. Not a slight on the pubgoers, but the two seemed to be merged, rather than separate, which I'd expect when paying £30 for a steak etc. Thats The Ivy prices... Kudos to the staff though, kept us topped up with drinks, which was the most important (for me) task!

This was our first visit to the Derby Arms since its refurbishment in October, and we were not disappointed. The new menu is a significant improvement, offering a fantastic selection of delicious dishes. We were served by the lovely Lilly-May, whose warm and welcoming demeanor, along with her attentive service, truly enhanced our experience. We will definitely be returning very soon.

Food was good though they were understaffed in the kitchen so food came very slowly but we were kept aware all the time

Been once before and it was nice. Went tonight Sunday at 5pm and were told they were out of lamb, chicken and beef (most of their menu). Ordered pork belly as had no choice but thought it would be nice as it said crackling. No crackling whatsoever, quite the opposite. Really small portion, I was given one Yorkshire pudding and my partner two (fine by me but confused by the inconsistency) and the gravy was like oily, bland water. Ordered dessert - a mini cake and a hot drink, 20 minutes later a mini cake and no hot drink. I asked for this and the server said he would sort it out to which he never returned but of course it was on the receipt. Nice starter, below average roast, half of a dessert and extremely, extremely slow unhelpful service.

Always a real relaxing atmosphere, great staff and food has always been totally on point.

We visited the. Derby arms for the first time after many years. We visited for lunch on 13 th February and what we discovered was just the most wonderful place to have a meal. The menu was excellent and included a few slightly different options and the food was delicious.. The really outstanding point about our experience was the excellent service by Matt . He was just the most polite and attentive young man and made the whole meal even more special. Well it was so good we are returning later this week ! Thank you Matt

The restaurant was freezing cold with other diners complaing. We asked for the heating to be put on was told it was not working. So we moved table the manager was knoking back a pint behind the bar and was not interested in the slightest we could not wait to leave. I will not be returning.

Very nice pub near Epsom race track. It’s been recently refurbished, has a lot of out door seating, decent drinks and menu.

Visited in Jan 2025 for a work team lunch as well as firm-wide evening drinks. Excellent service by wait staff and bar staff all round , topped off by delicious food. For lunch, there was an interesting promotion on during the month which was seamlessly applied by wait staff, without any noticeable deterioration in quality. In particular the chorizo monkfish was delicious (meaty, flavourful and zesty). For the evening drinks, bar staff were very much on the ball when faced with multiple orders on a single bar tab and quickly prepared all requested drinks.

Went in there for the first time on Saturday evening with some mates, had a couple of drinks. Mia served us at the bar, she was extremely friendly and polite making our experience very pleasant, as her customer service was excellent. Would definitely go again and would recommend to others.

Had a lovely Sunday roast with the family. The food was amazing (especially the pork belly, divine), service was really friendly and great at talking us through everything (shoutout to Lydia!). We’ll definitely be making a return visit 😌

Always have a great experience at the Derby Arms. The pub has a lovely atmosphere and the food is great too, although it’s the staff that really make this place. I’ve always had a great experience when coming here but lately one of the staff members, Lydia, has really gone above and beyond to make our experience special. I would recommend!

Had a great time at the Derby Arms with my boyfriend last weekend. It’s a great location after a long walk on the downs. The service in particular was great. Lydia was our waitress whilst we were there and she was so polite and really made our whole experience more enjoyable! Highly recommend a visit!

Great, friendly service. Good value with 50% offer on mains, giving us scope financially to enjoy more than one course. I was a bit chilly as it was a cold day, and would have felt more comfortable if my feet and legs had been warmer. A cosy open fire would have been welcome.

This used to be our favourite pub for a meal about 5 years ago. Things gradually deteriorated and we stopped going there about 3 or 4 years ago. Heard good reports after recent re-furn so decided to give it another try. Service was good, nice friendly staff but my meal was disappointing (Beef duo Sunday roast). To be honest apart from the superior demographic of the clientele it was no better than one of your Toby Inn carveries but twice the price. Had it not been for my Shareholder discount I would have felt seriously ripped off.

It was very cold as the heating wasn't working and the service was very slow. They did take money off the bill but will not be going back.

Wonderful local pub on Epsom Downs.

Giving one star is too much for our experience!!! Dreadful food, dreadful pub, and dreadful service!!! First time ever I’ve ever had to send all our meals back as they were inedible!!! Vegetarian dish was utterly disgusting, cod and chips - cod was off, given dried peas instead of mushy peas. Lemon sole was very oily and tasted horrid. - potatoes that came with it were inedible. We were offered free dessert and even this was dreadful!! Frozen chocolate bomb with Luke warm reheated sauce! Drinks too ages to come. This was my first and LAST visit to this pub!!! AVOID!!!!

It’s a lovely and clean place with a friendly atmosphere however this is why I give three stars only. 1. We waited 40min for our food and that was before it even got busy. Our meal orders for 3 adults and 1 child got in 5min before the kitchen even opened. 2. The shrinkflation has hit this place, as well. The Aubergine Lasagna special was a tiny portion for the price asked. The sauce was a bit on the ‘too sour’ side and the chicken in the Panzanela salad was grilled to the point of a burn, so it tasted quite bitter. 3. It was extremely cold inside, some people kept their winter coats on! It’s a shame because it’s a beautiful pub with a great location just across the Epsom racecourse.

Fantastic pub right opposite the racecourse on Epsom Downs! We had a large group for an early Christmas dinner yesterday and the food and service was excellent! Special thanks to David who worked his socks off looking after 12 of us for 7 hours! Would highly recommend

I booked the private dining room along with 11 friends and we were extremely well looked after. Nothing was too much trouble and we had a really wonderful time. I had provided our Xmas menu choices and they arrived, beautifully presented and in good time. The starters were perfect, the mains tasty, my only gripe were the roast potatoes which were small and over cooked. All the varied desserts were delicious. A really lovely time in a newly decorated venue with terrific staff, thank you very much!

Took my aged mum for lunch on a cold miserable Monday and the warm welcome we received by the roaring fire cheered us up no end. The staff were exceptional - especially our lovely waitress Lorraine ( hope I got that right!) made a mundane lunch really special for Mum. Decor is fab - menu delightful Highly recommended

Your restaurant staff did not work together, the young waitress literally dropped the menues on the table without t even talking to us, it took 30 minutes to take order another 35 minutes for food, two of our drinks orders were Coke no ice, when they eventually arrived is was a glass of ice. Your dining area is cold we asked if they could turn the heating up and your waitress said she didn’t think it was working, at this point the e female couple on the table next to us said they were cold also, then a male member of staff came to the open fire place and tried to drag the fire closer to the opening, overall quite poor, food looked ok but was rather tasteless not as good as your social media posts would have to think, as a online creator you need a few tweaks to improve as the local competition is of a more polished standard.

Forgot to put reserved tag on table, when hostess walked to what she had detailed it was already occupied with now reserved. Told us to sit where we wanted. Table we found was unstable, asked bar staff , twice to help out, was given a bunch of napkins to stable it out.

New refurb looks brilliant. Host Megan was great can’t wait to come back.

What a gem, the foods amazing I can highly recommend the Lamb it was cooked to perfection. Staff are lovely and friendly. The only disappointing part was they wouldn’t give me the Gravy recipe 😂 seriously what a gem and atmosphere is cosy and inviting.

Went on Friday 1st November as part of their re-opening week. The food was absolutely top notch, as was the service. The refurbishment has given the place a fresh feel while retaliating its' quirky features and calm atmosphere. Will definitely be back.

went to the derby arms on Thursday, which had been closed and refurbish. on entrering the derby arms it was a real wow as its absolutely stunning when you enter.My family and i were seated on a beautiful table we had a lovely 3 course meal the staff were very attentive. There is lots to choose from on the menu. I would definitely recommend the Derby Arms.

I visited today following a beautiful remodel. The atmosphere was warm and inviting with happy, enthusiastic staff. Fantastic service and the menu has delicious gluten free options. I would definitely recommend a visit!
