Dera in Walsall

Good tasting food marred by a noisy atmosphere. People kept walking in and out of the door near where we were seated despite there being an empty table ready. Can't complain about food but the staff can be trained to work under pressure and how not to blame each other for the missing cutlery or missing salad etc. Would I go there again? Yes, but if only the above things have been fixed .

Food is not fresh bad experience

Decent experience but we had a few issues. We ordered a family meal platter and they gave us their smallest size fries, which seemed like poor judgment from the establishment. They also gave us water at the start unprovoked, which gave the impression it was on the house, but when we went to pay it was added onto the bill. The food was acceptable, but the value of the meal platter was poor.

Been to the place the other day with my friends, honestly the food could've been much better, the wings were literally bones, the fries was given in a cup which did not serve 3 people, the masala fish was small, the meal itself didn't taste great. We paid for the £42 (3 people meal) and if we're honest, this did not fulfil our stomach. They got the fries order wrong and they even charged us water without asking.

Food was delicious as always absolutely amazing will be going there very soon

Awful food & mixed grill tastes like it's frozen not been freshly cooked & found an insect in my rice & very disgusted with this awful standard of service!

Food is normally upto good standards but last night there were 7 of us and today morning all of us where going to the toilet, I'm not sure if the hygiene level has dropped but I'm not going back anytime soon, also they do not like to accept card payments and they are happy to send you down the road in the rain to withdraw cash

Came here today with my family ordered food Full chicken and salad .And my son had chicken balti with rice chicken was not hot pre heated so I complained .They still charged me even tho I did not eat it..I would not ever go again as of you go to the back near til the food has been sitting there most of the day and is pre heated .Customer service was terrible .My son's food was terrible .So if I were you I would not waste my money .Go to sultans never fails always fresh .And hands down a more pleasant place and quality is great.

We ordered lamb khari but was given sheep khari. It was quite spicy as we asked for medium or mild spice, it didn’t seem to be fresh and also it has given us bad stomach since then.

Asked for lamb Karahi but gave us sheep karahi. which was ridiculously spicy.Tables, seats and walls very sticky. But service good but probably because there was bearly people there

Calm restaurant with top food. Had the tawa for 2 with chicken tikka karahi. No complaints and the service was great.

If you want to eat good and tasty desi/ pakistani food in Walsall, your right choice would be Dera @ Caldmore. Have tried all the desi restaurants in the past year, but i would strongly recommend this place.

Well according to price food quality and quantity is good just don’t know why they ask for cash when ordering online they every time gave the same answer have some problem with the system o have to pay in cash really surprised.

Decent food and service is good, sometimes food comes really fast and other times you could be waiting a while. Overall good

The lamb Karahi was just boiled no taste wouldn't recommend and tried to overcharge

£10 for Daal! Very very over priced for what it is. I would recommend to just go and eat at a fancy-ish place and pay less for better food and 1000% better service.

Food is 10/10 . Cooked to perfection and made with traditional spices. Place could do with a make over and staff need a bit more training. Other than that definitely worth going and getting the platter.

I bought lamb ribs take out yesterday, they was very hard and dry and the coating on them was extremely spicy... !! As you can imagine I was very disappointed...a dish I would not recommend to anyone .... !

If you order fries from here its £1 extra for salad and sauce. Avoid them.

The food arrived in good time. The Chaple Kebab was ok I don’t think it was cooked in the traditional style, in beef fat as it is normally done. The food was nice & hot overall it was very nice.

This place used to be a really nice place to eat and take family, the last experience absolutely shocking. Waited ages for someone to bring a menu ended up getting up getting it myself, ordered poppadoms onion salad looked like it was sat there for weeks I knew this was the start of a bad experience, ordered a cheese and garlic naan got given a cheese and chilli , everything else was just right but didn't taste very great. Got charged £2 for a small carton of kids drink. When food arrived had to get up and get my own plates and glasses waiters seemed like they didn't care or don't know what they were doing over all worse place in Walsall, I only rate good on Google it apparent from previous reviews this was that bad had to warn others. Sultans next door way better only if they wasn't busy

Very tricky new staff..plz be careful with Bill....we caught them twice in 5 weeks...I have been coming here for 10 years.. wasn't any complain but since they have new staff .. not happy with service... twice they try to over charge...so pls everyone for check menu prices & Bill... thanks

Been today, absolutely delicious food, the lamb haleem was fantastic,kebabs, roti, , chops,chicken karahi were all superb!!! Having eaten in a lot of restaurants around Birmingham, this is one ranks very high in taste and flavour!!!!

Still waiting for ages then the food was cold and the chips where soggy could not eat I had about two mouthfuls very disappointed

First time I've ordered from this place, ordered online. I asked them to give me more mint sauce even calling them personally because we love our mint sauce and thank god I didn't pay for the mint sauce as it was vile and they were absolutely tiny, even my son didn't like the burger he wanted it was dry and had a crap cheese slice as when we got it, we thought it had no cheese, we went there because it was high rated but even the food was horrible and the mint sauce was off. Never ordering from there again, wouldnt recommend!!! I want a refund

Biggest scammers went here on two different occasions & was overcharged twice the first time I didn't argue it but the second time was charged £15 over my order when confronted the staff member said the prices on our menu are different and told me he couldn't do nothing what a absolute joke daylight robbery wouldn't recommend

I've dined here before with family & friends & the food was enjoyable. However, during my small family visit yesterday evening at 6:30 pm, (only 3 of us) something was off. The waiter was in mood or probably thats how he generally is, just rude, and the lamb karahi had a unusual taste & smell = either old or off lamb. We had to self-serve get menus / Tissues from bar, used side plates, remind about drinks half way through our meal etc! (Worse experience ever!) My daughter just had a few fries and plain naan saying "lamb is really nasty & vile" Unfortunately, both my wife and I experienced stomach pains upon returning home. In hindsight, I should have stuck with Shere Khan's instead! Or gone to Sultans a few doors up.

Food taste is not similar. I went for two times the first time the tawa taste was awesome, but second, it was awful

Strongly avoid. Sultans is 100x better. The toilets are vile. The tawa for 2 was a rip off portion. The lamb karahi was the only nice thing on the tawa. Rated the service high as it all came out quickly and the waiter did nothing wrong.

Kebabs were delicious and I would recommend them, however the three naan we ordered were all burnt and were not naan it was white roti sold as naan.

The restaurant has a warm ambience. The food is top notch. The service was a little slower than the past experiences I have had, but the food makes it worth it. Must try their Peshawari naan. The quantity is quite appealing.

Disappointed with chicken n lamb karahi. Chops were undercooked.put too much of seekh kebabs to make look tawa look filled.satff didn’t bother to say anything when complained ☹️. We had been there many times before but no more , Never again !

The food here use to be generally good overall but unfortunately on new year's day it caused a dismay for me and the kids. Probably due cost cutting measures for the renowned "cost of living" crisis, which won't mind if I know am being served quality food for an increased priced menu but on the contrary we ordered a "Full Chicken Karahi" for £28 but what turned up seemed like some left over chicken remains from a meat shop. There was more bones than chicken. Why advertise it falsely as "Full Chicken" and mislead the customers. It's easy enough to increase rates on the menu card but one must keep up with the quality of service. You can't have it both ways and con customers. Sheekh kebabs were a bit soggy and the masala fish is just basa fillets not cod! I won't be paying them a visit again anytime soon ⛔️

We had a small tawa which was good value for money. Food was nice, service was excellent. Decor was very nice pity that the walls were dirty. Overall will visit again and recommend to friends and family

Ordered takeaway on Uber, food was fresh and tasty. The peri chicken was flavoured well, juicy chicken. The cod masala fish was good. Wings slightly small but tasty. Kebab in naan was fresh and juicy kebabs. All the food was great nothing to fault. Quick collections only took around 15 mins

While I cannot comment on the food, I would heed extreme caution should you have any business with the owner. He is very unprofessional. He will cancel an appointment when you arrive. He has no courtesy or regard for your time.

Excellent karahi, pure desi taste both lamb and chicken. We also tried daal, which was great. The roti were fresh, warm, and mouth watering. The prices are very reasonable. The service was good. They can do better with the atmosphere. it felt cold sitting there. The food was nice.

Lovely Tawa for 2 though price was a little high for our liking, but food was nice and fresh.

Decent food, good size of tawa. There was 5 of us but we ordered tawa for 6 and food did finish easily so be aware. Curries are too saucy rather than home made taste.

Brilliant authentic Pakistani/afghani food. We always order the family meal which consists of 1kg Chicken Karahi, fries, wings, masala fish, 4 Sheesh kebab, 6 roti, salad, tarka daal and big bottle of pop. All this food for £40 which easily feeds a family of 6 with plenty left over. Brilliant value for money.

We had a very bad experience, ordered Haleem which seems old and bitter taste. Owner started arguing, we had other food and asked to return Haleem, he was quite rude, said that once you order food I would charge even if you just taste it and didn’t like. Truly unprofessional behaviour. Wouldn’t recommend anyone going there.

Customer service has become terrible taking wrong orders, and waiters are becoming angry and rude. The environment is dirty and needs updating as well with the waiters' clothings. Food quality has become terrible. I wouldn't recommend this place anymore.

great place for families, have separate section, they provide tapwater without even asking and don't try to force you to buy drinks, the lamb cholistani Karachi 1/2kilo I had was delicious although to much bone included at least 50%, my wife's butter chicken was generous, not really my cup of tea,they also gave free naans which was a result,overall good experience and well defo return.

I went to this restaurant with my friends on a Monday night. We ordered the lamb chops, lamb karahi, and roti. The lamb chops were not tasty; they were dry. The lamb karahi was okay, but it was a bit bland. The roti was really good; it was soft and fluffy. However, the restaurant was stinky, and I think they have hygiene issues. There was a strong smell of grease and food waste in the air. The tables were greased, too, and there was food on the floor.

Decent starters and good lamb karahi

Ordered a tawa for 2 Choice of chicken karahi or lamb karahi Chicken tikka,2 lamb chops,2 sheesh kebabs, 2 chicken wings, rice, fries, 2 roti, 1 naan, salad and you get 2 drinks We opted for the boneless lamb karahi which you pay a little extra for off the bone. Taste wise it was quite decent but unfortunately it was seeping with oil, as you can see with pictures attached. The sheesh kebabs tasted good, meat was nice n tender likewise the chicken tikka.

Nicely represented food looked really nice and photographable. Tasted 10/10 would definitely recommend. Come here often. Great family diner or a place to come with friends or alone. Has a seperated family area which is nice. Waiters are really helpful and check up on the tables a lot. Overall amazing experience.

Great food, I had Goat karahi, Daal tadka and kashmir tea. Every thing was delicious. I especially liked the big size of roti, so really had a wholesome meal, which is quite rare here.

Absolutely mouth watering food. Do visit it if you are a true foodie and love curries and barbecue. I loved their fried fish, very yummy and not at all heavy. Do try it on my recommendation 😉. Don't go for atmosphere. You will always remember the taste of food. Highly recommended. Thumbs up to the Dera Team. Ali was a considerate boy with a welcoming smile 😊.

Absolutely disgusting service, wouldn't have give 1 star. My daughter ordered food, and it never arrived, called deliveroo where they ordered it from to be told that the restaurant use their own drivers, called the restaurant and the manager spoke to me so rudely saying that they will not issue a refund, I asked what their customer service is and they put the phone down! In the end we had to go to the shop to get a refund and all of the staff was circling my husband and my 2 12 year old girls, in the end we got a tenner back from the 13 that they spent, disgusting.

My friend was looking forward to a Doner Kebab 🥙. He was very disappointed when they told him that they don't sell Doner Kebab. They sell everything from burgers to currys and peri peri chicken but no Doner Kebab. Ended up have Burger meals was nice. Just a bit standard. Price reasonable and open till 4am I think.
