Friendly and attentive staff serving great home baked food. They excel in looking after their customers

I called in to Denela's Coffee Shop (attached to the bakery) on a 1/2 day visit to Shepton Mallet. The first thing to state is that this is not a full-blown cafe so the menu choice is limited. I chose a steak and kidney pie with a cappuccino which came to £6.65. The woman standing behind the counter ignored me as I approached to order, she seemed to be busy making up a previous order. So I was served by a second woman, however the first server then piped up with "we don't do chips" as I enquired whether I could have chips with my pie - so not what I would call good customer service. There was also a constant loud noise coming from behind the counter during my visit - something to do with the bakery perhaps? The food and drink were OK but nothing special. There seems to be a dearth of good cafes in Shepton.

At the Shepton Show today, unfortunately the service was appalling and there was no respect for client's / my Covid concern. Absolutely no Covid precautions available for clients. The member of staff was almost mocking. I know this company is well respected locally hence my shock.

Regularly get my lunch from here, would everyday if waistline & budget allowed. Imo I find the subs best value, it's packed with your choice of filling + any salad you wish, although I always go for coronation chicken. Delicious own bread & more traditional cakes are also top quality, all baked by Danelas, best rocky road bars I've ever had. Highly recommend. Obvs it's only been takeaway for the last yr but still worth standing in the rain for.

Always fabulous sandwiches, rolls and jacket potatoes, pasties and cakes - always plenty of filling. Our go- to lunch place when we don't bring our own.

Ordered two pasties and two lattes to sit in and eat. The pasties came with a few crisps and bits of salad, the actual pasties were quite small and nothing special. Didn't like the cafe, there were lots of electric bulbs out and some of the ceiling had come down but didn't notice this until we had placed our order. Also, lots of scary metalwork above the counter, which didn't seem to fit in with the surroundings, but then they still had the wood Christmas tree and lights up, so obviously don't care. The lattes were okay, but we won't be visting again.

We visited the stall whilst at Glastonbury Festival. Ordered one veggie and one breakfast pastry. £9.00 for the 2 so looking forward to a tasty treat. The breakfast was good however the veggie was bland with a very small layer of filling reminded me of baby food. We have often bought rolls and cakes from the Shepton Mallet shop so quite disappointed with the hot savouries

Really nice lady who runs or owns this Bakery. Good amount of filling in sandwiches (does depend a bit on who serves you - the younger staff may be less generous on filling). Great cakes. Definitely recommend this place.

Love this place, always try to pop in once a week! Much better than what you will buy in a supermarket! 10/10 on all counts!

Great local bakery with freshly made sandwiches and fabulous donuts. "The bacon and cheese turnovers are the best turnovers ever" according to the guy with the beard who sits opposite me at work.

Great place to grab food in your lunch break. Salads, jacket potatoes, sandwiches, pasties, pizza, bread, cakes and plenty of other things to choose from. All prepared in front of you. Also takes food orders and offer hog-roast services for functions. There is also a cafe out the back, so you don't have to eat on the run.

A craft bakery with nearly everything cooked on the premises. The cafe is an adjunct to that but the food is simply and tasty, home cooked. There's a lovely garden.

The café is an offshoot of a craft baker's who bakes on the premises. It's mainly snacks, good quality and reasonably priced.

I popped into Denelas earlier today, I have never been in before, various folk in there stocking up on their provisions, two very friendly ladies behind the counter. Two pasties purchased, piping hot, just under £4, very reasonable, well filled and tasty.

The best iced ring doughnuts you'll ever have. And the best bakers full stop! Very popular especially at lunch time when the office crowd are in!

You might call this a patisserie-boulangerie, but it is far from being a Kensington-style fancy cake and bread shop. It is just a superb bakery and you have to queue at most times because it is such a popular place (it also has a café at the rear of the shop). . . . . and the Cornish pasties are to die for!

Great place to get lunch, or take out. The sandwiches are made to order, all the products look freshly made that day. The pasties, cakes, bread and rolls are all made on site first thing in the morning,

Excellent ice creams, great variety and flavour. I visited with my dogs on a really hot day in July. Perfect way to cool down. Also a special mention to the pet shop Wiggle and Wag which shares a site with the gelato shop. Both great.

We don’t really know Dorking but came for a comedy gig and wanted food and drink before the show. We booked a table online and then were a bit confused when we walked in as it’s looks like a work space but then has a bar and says it served food. The staff explained they had a limited menu currently. As we were there and we’d booked we thought we’d give it a go. We ordered halloumi fries to start and then various burgers - whilst initially worried this was just going to be a zap in the microwave job; how wrong we were. The food was so good. The food was restaurant quality!! The staff (particularly the gent I assume was the manager) were so friendly and helpful and couldn’t do enough for us. We will definitely go again; and look forward to when they have their full menu.

A truly great evening was had last night. We went for a Christmas meal, and from the point of arrival when we found “Thatchers Zero” in the fridge for the designated driver, to settling up at the end of the evening the experience was great. Super friendly staff, and a well behaved pub dog who just had a look of “please love me” on his face. The food was superb, and the price was good value for money. I would definitely recommend the pub.

Visited Glastonbury whilst on a weeks break in Crewkerne. Popped into to this lovely cafe as it was dog friendly. Forgetting my glasses I asked if they catered for gluten free, they did (it stated it on the menu). As I ordered the lady behind the counter asked if I was coeliac, I told her I was. When the food was brought to the table, the lady explained that she had cleaned the kitchen and prepared my food using all new unopened ingredients. All I had was a corned beef and onion sandwich, but the attention to detail was second to none. Really recommend this place to coeliacs and non coeliacs.

The Sunrise Cafe may look like an ordinary cafe on the outside but inside the food is something special! Choose something from The Thai menu if you like Thai food and you will experience some of the best authentic Thai cooking outside Thailand! We stopped here for lunch after driving around the Malvern Hills all morning thinking it was just a normal cafe but discovered that it also had a Thai Menu cooked by a delightful Thai lady Chef called "Jim". I am not sure how she came by that name but she was definitely a woman! We chose Tom Yum chicken soup and checked that would not be too spicy hot first. It was perfect and also contained Mushroom, Sping Onion and Tomato. Incredibly tasty with a mild warmth aftertaste. We followed this with a Chicken Massaman Curry which included a Jasmine sticky rice. The curry was the best we have tasted. It looked so appetising with it's rich golden colour. The friendly Hungarian waitress also supplied us with water and afterwards my wife Angie had a hot chocolate and I had a White Cofffee. A fantastic meal and drinks for just under £20 a head. If you are touring the Malverns this is worth taking a detour for! It is open from about 8:30 am to 4pm this time of the year and has a garden available at the back for outdoor seating in the summer months. The Cafe also serves a range of cooked breakfasts and lunches or hot sandwiches, some deserts, milkshakes, hot and cold drinks.
