This cafe is under new ownership (second week under the new regime) and it didn't disappoint. I visited with a friend at around 11.30am and it was quite busy both with customers eating in and those buying takeaway food too. My friend ordered the butter pie which was served with beetroot and grated cheese. It smelled delicious and was declared to be excellent by my companion. I opted for a blueberry scone and it was light and fluffy and "loaded" with blueberries. It was absolutely scrummy. A pot of tea and a huge cup of coffee completed our order and both were perfect. The takeaway counter was doing a roaring trade with salad boxes and other takeaway food. The menus for both eat in and takeaway were extensive and a wide range of goodies also listed on the specials board. In addition to all of this we received a friendly greeting and smile from the staff. Give it a try - you won't be disappointed!

A friend and I stopped for breakfast whilst we were taking part in a charity walk. We both had a full English breakfast and a pot of tea. The tea arrived within seconds in a proper pot, not a stainless steel tea pot! The food arrived pretty quickly. The breakfast was cooked properly, the portion size was good and they obviously buy local from suppliers who care about their product as much as the cafe staff do! As you can see from the attached photo, there was nothing left! We couldn't fault the food, or the service. I don't get into Garstang too often but I will make sure I visit the Deli Cafe when I do!

Very busy (frenetic) cafe on market day. The cafe is small & was full plus 4/5 people queuing for takeaways. It’s good it so busy but sure it could be less stressful as a customer. Food good, but small portion (quiche & salad), I used to struggle to eat this, not now. What was there was tasty & excellent quiche. The issue was the service, owner & daughter (?) bickering at each other isn’t nice to see or hear. I’m sure it’s meant in good humour but personally I find it uncomfortable. The way the daughter spoke to a customer over the price wasn’t great & then proceeded to have a rant about him to other customers when he’d left, again this was unacceptable. I’d hate to hear what she had to say about me after I’d left! Probably go again as nice food, but not looking forward to the Basil Fawlty approach to customer service.

My lady had been here twice before so suggested give a visit as she had not been well and not eaten anything of note this week. Gosh is this a busy spot and deservedly so. E had fantastic quiche and I had a superb ham salad, unbelievable the sheer no of different salad elements provided and all assembled from the salad bar near to where you sit. None of this putting together in a non visible kitchen(this is a real + point). The service is exemplary, staff really pleasant and helpful. Gwen you really deserve nothing but praise and success for your lovely establishment. Also clear how you are an element of the local community almost knowing all your customers by their names. Well done, most certainly will be back

A small family-run deli-cafe offering quality food in a cosy friendly environment. We are regulars here and enjoy the soups, the roast beef and onion sandwiches and quiche salads especially. For desserts there are normally a range of cakes & tarts, and of course Gwen's famous blueberry scones. Well-behaved dogs are welcome too. Downsides - opening hours are short, and payment by cash only.

Visited this small, but very friendly cafe, whilst on a visit to Garstang with my son. It was a terrible wet day and we wanted something to warm us up. It was busy as lunchtime but the ladies quickly found us a table at the back. We were shown the menu on the blackboard on the wall. My son had a sausage sandwich on a white bun - the quality of the ingredients was very good. I chose the hot beef and onion sandwich, which contained plenty of meat and onions. We were both offered condiments, but declined. I did think the food was overpriced as literally a sandwich on a plate with very little presentation - maybe a few crisps or garnish could be added. However, overall good service but if in Garstang again I think would try other cafes after reading reviews on here of other places.

Another lunch time visit (takeaway). The cafe has had a bit of a decorate / rework & looks much better. I think there is now a little more seating inside, which is a good move. Homemade quiche & salad, excellent. My only observation is that the salad portion size was definitely smaller this time than any other visit. Staff very friendly.

This is the most amazing place. The food is delightful, and all home made. Very welcoming, came today and was allowed to sit with the dogs in the little cottage style garden in the rear. It was beautiful and sunny. The staff are so friendly. Always love to come here from Blackpool..the lovely lady even offered us refills of coffee, she is just lovely and very dog friendly. The quiche was beautiful, probably the best quiche I have ever had and hubby was impressed with his beef sandwich which came on a large roll. The salads are so beautifully put together with lovely fresh produce always. It is the best place ever. Thankyou for all your hard work and keep up the good work. Amazing!

IF YOU WANT SERVICE , CIVILITY, COURTESY AND A WIDE SELECTION OF MAIN MEALS DO NOT GO NEAR THIS PLACE.They are currently running a policy of minimum order. "No main meal, no entry"Although the hospitality industry has suffered through the pandemic and our thoughts are with establishments as they attempt to recover, we do have serious doubts about this particular outfit and the owners attempts to win back custom. We were told to find somewhere else to eat and to leave the shop immediately when a civil complaint was raised.Needless to say, our family WILL find somewhere to eat in future. This gem of a cafe is quickly becoming my go to place for quick delicious home cooked food. The staff are delightful, pleasant, kind and down to earth and it feels like a home from home thanks to the warm welcome everyone receives! As for the food my top tip is go early- such is the popularity of this place and the quality of the food the best dishes sell quickly! If you love home baked food and cakes this place will not disappoint- amongst a menu of home cooked delicacies there is an array of mouth watering treats and their quiche is quite simply the best I have ever tasted anywhere- it’s divine- a little taste of paradise with every bite:- it really is that good (cream cheese and spinach is my fave)If you have room for dessert then their selection of cakes will leave you in no doubt - they are just liked grandma used to make :-there really is nothing like the fresh light airy texture and delicious farm fresh lashings of cream, with fresh local raspberries cascading out of their Victoria sponge.Quite simply divine the five star rating doesn’t do the food justice!

Called in for lunch, all three of us opted for small mushroom soup with smoked salmon and cream cheese sandwiches. The soup was just perfect, beautifully seasoned and a real winter warmer. The smoked salmon an cream cheese sandwiches, seasoned with black pepper and lemon, were generously filled and just delicious. They came with a lovely side salad, coleslaw and couscous. To follow, one chose Victoria sponge and another chose blackcurrant tart with cream Neither disappointed. The sponge was a light as air and filled with a tasty raspberry jam and fresh cream. The blackcurrant tart was a crisp and thin pastry case oozing with fruit. Friendly and witty service made this an all-round happy eating experience and we will be back!

We had a lovely lunch at this local cafe. The place was very busy with lots of locals lining up, but most of them were taking their lunch with them, so we were able to get a table. We sat right in the window with a pleasant outlook out into the town square area. The service was friendly - we had our orders taken at our table, and despite it being a busy time, our meals came out quickly. The portions were generous. My husband ordered quiche and salad - there were three quiches to choose from and the accompanying salad portion was large and varied. I ordered the soup and sandwich option - once again, there were three different sandwich options (tuna, cheese or ham) and three choices of soup. I went for the spicy Thai soup which was tasty. I was surprised to discover that I also received a selection of salads with my meal - a very substantial and tasty lunch. For those like me who are not local - I often forget that a cheese sandwich in this part of the world can mean a grated cheese sandwich which always comes as something of a disappointment. I should remember to ask first. The bread was lovely - not just brown, but with grains. The coffee was really not good, but again, that is not unusual in this part of the world and you are probably better to stick to tea, as my husband did, rather than hold out for a cafe that serves reasonable coffee. Garstang is a pleasant small town with a narrow high street that features many pubs and a few cafes. However despite enjoying our lunch at Delicafe, I don’t think we would make this town a stopping off point while driving north in future - parking being the main issue. We drove for some distance from the nearest off ramp on the M6, the town parking was at the other end of the high street from the cafe and was expensive - but having charged a high rate, the toilets in the car park then required us to pay and to have the right coins. Garstang is clearly not in the business of welcoming passing travellers.

We chose this cafe from Tripadvisor as our lunch destination for our bike ride and we're really glad we did. The friendly owner and staff welcome you as you walk in the door, but not in a pushy way. We had a delicious big slice of fresh, warm quiche with a wide variety of fresh salads. The food looks delicious, and the taste does not disappoint! Watching the staff prepare fresh food for the customers with a real but casual attention to detail is a delight. They slice the bread freshly for sandwiches, and slice the ham by hand too. This cafe is certainly on our radar for future visits.

Went to Garstang market today and popped in this cafe for a coffee. We were greeted wth a smile and a very sincere welcome from all the staff. The atmosphere of the place made us decide to have some lunch here and the staff were great, please sit down we will come to take your order and they did. We had two salads my husband had the sweet chilli chicken and I had the rare roast beef. Both were very good with plenty of meat and a great variety of accompaniments on the plate not just the usual leaves, tomato and cucumber.During the time that we were in the cafe the staff were chatting and including us in their banter making us both feel very comfortable, a lovely atmosphere. All the baked goods looked delicious too but off limits for us. Café is way too small, unable to relax/unwind, as passing customers continually bump into you. Coffee was not of a good quality either, which is most important when you are paying reasonable/barista prices…. Very Disappointing! Gwen Dunn has been running the Deli for circa three or four years now, and I have been a customer from almost day one...calling in for a bite to eat at lunchtime when I worked in Garstang centre, and sincere "retiring" calling in for lunch two, sometimes three times a week. The food is excellent. Gwen, daughter Jane and grandson Ryan make a good team...with contrasting personalities. The takeaway side of the Deli is always busy with shop and office workers from the town...the proof of the pudding (and all other dishes) is surely in the popularity of the place. I particularly like the quiches and salads. Can't praise the place enough.I'm clicking the "solo" button for this, but I am often in with friends or family. If I have friends visiting I usually go to the Deli.

I don't know why I have not reviewed this cafe before. I seem to have been going there for years on a regular basis and feel like one of the family who own and run it. I have yet to find fault with anything there - the food, the atmosphere, the service - and most of all in my case, their kindness when going through difficult times - including provision for my wife's wheelchair and their careful attention to her needs, leaves me full of gratitude. The attention to detail and the variety of delicious offerings is remarkable for such a compact facility - recently altered to rationalize seating. Lunchtime is sometimes cheerfully hectic as they provide take-away lunches for many-a shop, office or workshop in the area, whilst dealing with those happy customers who choose to dine-in. Well done Team Gwen. Your hard work has achieved the results you deserve.

After a lovely walk around Garstang, was disappointed to see a notice saying there is a minimum spend of £4 per person - the first time I've ever known this in a cafe. All my party of 4 wanted was a pot of tea and one of their lovely fruit scones each (cost £2.45 ppn). Don't think you should penalise people just because your cafe is small. Could be put off this town 'cos searching for a cafe for a cuppa seems impossible.

Home made doesn't always mean good, but at Delicafe the food is first class. Sandwiches, soups, home made cakes etc are the order of the day. salads, Hand carved ham and beef on the counter are mouth watering. We had soup. Chicken-vegetable broth and sweet potato with beetroot, served with doorsteps of fresh brown bread. Both were delicious as were the home made scones my friend had. We all had something hot and nourishing with a really nice cuppa and it cost about a fiver each. Great value. The service was also quick and friendly. Be aware though there is only seating for about a dozen, so you will need to keep a close eye for a table at busy times.
