The Steamer in Wyre

Looked a bit chabby outside ...but very pleasantly surprised was lovely inside and full of history .....

Went into the pub earlier today with a mate that had travelled from Scotland I had been to the pub before apx 5 years ago and found it 1st class with good food, beer and entertainment and it was run by a nice couple who had 2 massive dogs and it was a busy place with decent locals and people from out of the area bringing their dogs. Sadly today was the exact opposite with a totally miserable barman who told us the kitchen was closed for a week so no food,and a pint of Guinness I bought was crap and I left most of it. Sadly the place looked run down with manky carpet, tired fixed seating and scratches on tables. I have heard Sid Little has retired and come out of the pub and his son is running it, if that's true then take a hard look of how it has been allowed to fester. I feel sorry for Sid and how much he had built up it's reputation.

Saturday 9th November 2024 This old-fashioned real ale pub is in Fleetwood This pub is a absolute gem great staff good range of hand pumped ales and a place where can socially mix with the locals this pub has a owner who is famous as a comedian especially from yhe 70s80s and 90s picture on site shows the person I'm speeking of😁😁

Decent pub in Fleetwood right next to the Indoor Market. Awful lunchtime karaoke though.

Amiable service a little quiet when we went in.

Pleasant family atmosphere, nice selection of ales, restaurant is unfortunately currently closed. Mixed range of entertainment throughout the week.

Great food at a great price also superb ales

Went to Fleetwood on the tram. All looked a bit dreary and past its wonderful history. The more we read on the posters and signs outside buildings, the more we were intrigued and interested. The pub was quite empty as it was mid-afternoon, but the barman could not have been more helpful. There was a lack of choice of real ales, but bottled ones were on sale too. The barman even came over and told us about the history of the place. Exceptionally clean, especially the ladies' toilets. Makes a real change. They obviously have live music there due to the evidence of a stage and perhaps other events. Also dog friendly. Do give it a try.

This is a "proper" pub, in the traditional sense. It feels like part of the Fleetwood community and is a joy to visit. It is very easy to access by tram from Blackpool. The bar staff are friendly, the beer is excellent (and reasonably priced) and if the stars are aligned, Syd Little will regale you with stories from the 80s. I really enjoyed my visit here and would recommend it to anyone.

I met a group of ex workers at the Steamer. Excellent choice of beers and a great pub. The barman was very friendly and professional even carrying drinks to our table. Highly recommend.

Nice & quiet in the afternoon. If the sun is out then the beer garden out back is a nice place to chill & relax.

Great for a quiet pint or a pub meal on the dock road.The staff are friendly and the beer prices are reasonable

Brilliant for good beer. The restaurant wasn't open on the day I was in. It was packed & there was some accomplished musicians banging out some brilliant tunes 5*

Quiet Saturday afternoon. I didn't have any food. A choice of good real ales and friendly, helpful staff. The bar looks geared up for live entertainment too. Recommended.

Nice place a mixture of old and new inside and lovely photos on the walls. Well done Sid Little of little and large fame and also sids wife who i believe owns the steamer.

Always call in to the Steemer, for a drink when visiting Fleetwood. Friendly customers and staff. And the food is excellent.

Seems like a nice pub, had a feeling of "local pub for local people" but everyone seemed friendly enough that was in there. Only had a couple of drinks in there but think it had a pool table, dart board and bandit. Live music was setting up and it's dog friendly.

Day our and thought we would have a beer, we are not locals but were welcomed by everyone. Throughly enjoyed our few hours, dj on and good music for a Sunday afternoon. Thanks to all who spoke to us and our two dogs, we will be paying a return visit In the coming Sumner months. Thank you

Syd's pub, only had a couple of real ales, both were great, place is spotless clean, staff were really nice, only a few people in there when we went but I imagine it can get pretty busy, bumped into Syd walking the dog down the street. I will visit whenever I am in Fleetwood.

Really nice place, Syd Little and his wife run the cooking side i think but the barman they had in on Monday definitely needed to up his game, not friendly at all, we very nearly walked back out again which wouldn't have given the place a fair chance, glad we stayed though as it's so nice. We didn't eat here.

Lovely old pub with great character & atmosphere. Nice selection of well kept beers & everywhere you go it sparkles. Very very clean throughout. We enjoyed the Tuesday afternoon singers & company of local people. All very friendly. Special thanks to the cheerful landlady who made us very welcome. Will be back when next in the area.

Very friendly pub ( ive only been on tues/fri afternoon), if u like kareoke, 12-3pm .. these days and times ive met nothing but friendly locals and had a great time. I visit blackpool 2 or 3 times a year and will go out of my way to go here every time 👍😉.

Great spot, great history and very homely. The pub is hosted by the famous Sid Little and family who really make you feel welcome along with all the locals. Fantastic selection of cask beers & ciders that I believe change on a regular basis. Pub is also next door to the market and free port, which we didn't visit. Definitely worth a visit.

GREAT PUB WITH A GREAT SELECTION OF REAL ALES

Very enjoyable Bar and Restaurant that I have visited many times. The bar is large and always seems to have a cheerful crowd in whilst the restaurant, run by Syd Little of Little & Large fame, has an excellent choice of meals all at reasonable prices. I have never had any problems with any of the meals I have had.

The barman was very arrogant,no manners & not very welcoming No please,thank you or anything Was stood in queue of four people at the bar but served locals that came to the bar after me It’s not that I’m not a local I live 4 miles away We were in the area for Fleetwood market Unfortunately we won’t be coming into this establishment again

When I visited there was a karaoke on in the afternoon ,and the atmosphere was pleasant. Across from the market and worth a visit. Prices are reasonable too.

Went to visit the steamer for the first time Sunday evening, I have wanted to visit for a while because of the history of the place and the pub’s significance in fleetwood history itself. Well was in for a disappointment! the barman barely looked at me, never mind a smile, I don’t know if that’s his personality or he had just been told some bad news, just shouldn’t be working with public. The place wasn’t very full, perhaps because of the bar staff.

Staying in Blackpool and to be honest I knew Syds wife was running the Steamer so I caught the tram to pay a visit. Very friendly pub Met syd even grabbed a selfie with him would go back again

Stayed in fleetwod for a couple of nights so thought we would have a drink in the steamer pub, really good atmosphere and a good pint, very nice staff and we enjoyed the live music which was a bonus as we weren’t expecting entertainment, didn’t get a chance to try the the food but after hearing good things we will give it try next visit

The beef was beautiful But although it said roast potatoes on the menu we got boiled potatoes in their skin which ruined it for me Also although the waitress was pleasant she was clearing plates while one of our party was still eating

Family night out food was superb and service was excellent, we enjoyed so much we booked in the next day for the Sunday lunch and again was not disappointed at all.
