First visit to The Pickled Goose and was very impressed. The Sunday Roast Dinners were cooked to a high standard and the Roast Beef was perfectly rare as it should be. The Beef & Ale Pie was very good and the Roast Potatoes were the best I have tasted in along time. Proper Check backs from the staff carried out at the right interval instead of most places who tend to do it after one mouthful of food. Having managed large Hotel groups for over 30 years the balance of good food and customer service as well as good management is a winning formula and I will return.

Lovely meal at the Pickled Goose this evening, we’ve visited a few times for their tapas style menu which has always been delicious, however they have extended their‘mains’ menu and we were delighted to visit again. The food was really very lovely, well presented & most of all good quality & very tasty. We had the chicken dish, cheese & onion pie & our son had the bacon chop all from the mains menu. All three of us devoured our dishes, we said we would happily order exactly the same dish again even though there’s other dishes we would like to try too. We will be back again soon Pickled Goose, great service too!

Came on a Sunday evening. Pub didn’t seem too busy, but there were quite a few people dining. Was shown to a table swiftly and the service was friendly. Choice of real ales was poor (just 2 Marstons beers). So, either the pub is tied to Marstons, or they aren’t really that interested in the beer side; which is strange, as they advertise a cask Wednesday. Food took 45 minutes to arrive, after ordering. Sunday dinner was quite nice, a good selection of tasty vegetables, but maybe could have done with a bit more beef for £20, (which is slightly more expensive than other similar establishments). The beef pie had a nice filling, but the pastry was dry and not particularly nice, also would have benefited from more vegetables, rather than sitting on some red cabbage. Overall, not too bad, but could be improved.

Went for anniversary, it was a Saturday night. Busy but not busy where you have to shout to talk to the person next to you. Had a lovely starter and a main. The special touch was they brought out a small pud saying happy anniversary without asking for it. Made our night. Would recommend visiting and we will be back again for sure.

Mediocre at best. I thought this was more of a bistro place but it’s more like a food chain place unfortunately. Atmosphere is lovely and so are the staff but the food just doesn’t quite meet that high standard. The prawn and crayfish cocktail was delicious but the steak really let it down, wasn’t allowed to rest, chips were frozen ones and the sauce wasn’t the best. It was ok but I wouldn’t rush to go back here I’m afraid

Visited tonight with friends as we are staying in a cottage locally. Friendly welcome from staff and shown to our table - very cosy by a window and radiator. Ordered our drinks and after a look at the menu, finally decided what we wanted. Lots of choice so was uncertain but we opted for - steak and kidney pudding/mushy peas/chips and gravy; chicken breast/mash/vegetables and chicken sauce; beef burger with pulled pork, cheese, bacon/chips; steak and ale pie/chips/red cabbage and gravy. Everyone was really pleased with our meals - tasty, good quality, ample portion size and value for money. Definitely recommend and will return when next in area

We visited the pickled goose last night after passing it many times and never before trying it. I have never given a 5 start review before but I reckon they deserve it. The food was fantastic, the honey glazed pork with black pudding and perfectly poached egg just melted in the mouth. They also gave us a number of freebies like a serving of brownies and ice cream to celebrate our anniversary. A good diverse menu and the place has obviously had good money spent on the interior. Will defo be going back again.

We booked a table online leaving Blackpool. Booking was confirmed, table was ready when the waitress/bar staff checked. Orders were quick for both drink and menu but wasn’t rushed. Staff were very accommodating to change items out on the menu and cook the steak to order for a pain customer (me). Food was great, portions good. Kids menus nice. Deserts went down well. I had the pleasure of dinning at the Pickled Goose a few days ago, admittedly, I was expecting a fancier affair based on the appearance of the website. We visited the pickled goose this weekend and were slightly disappointed. The place itself is well presented, lovely decor and welcoming. The staff are very friendly and attentive. The food was well presented, and tasty however everything was luke warm, nothing other than the pardon peppers were hot. The dirty fries were our least favourite they didn't really match the description, they were quite soggy and undercooked. We ordered most from the snack menu and the meats so the bill was pretty reasonable, however the meat / veggie dishes are quite expensive and I'd have been hacked off if they came out cold like the others. Unfortunately no one asked us how the meal was which we would have politely told them. I wouldn't rush back unfortunately.

We visited mid-week and really enjoyed everything we ordered. The restaurant is spacious and so much care has been taken with the design inside. They have lots to choose from and we especially loved the baked Alaska dessert...it was the best dessert I've had in ages. It's an independent restaurant serving delicious food that you can tell is all fresh, and their prices are about the same as most chain pubs, so what's not to love!? I really recommend it!

We have visited this restaurant under many names over the years and decided to give it another go on Saturday 2/12/23. An excellent decision it was too. The staff were warm, friendly and engaging. Considering it was freezing the restaurant was warm too! It is a big old place to fill and the rear section was full as we dined mid evening on a Saturday. Word is clearly spreading about the food and dining experience. Lots of small starters (tapas style in method) were complimented by good sized mains. All in all it was a great night and a very good dining experience. We will call again. Between 4 of us we tried croquettes x2 =4, dirty fries (Brie & crispy onions) squid x2, olives, salad, meat & cheese platter, pigs in blankets (good portion), pork meatballs (5 good sized in tomato sauce) fish & chips (good portion) with four sweets to follow. I may have forgotten something! Price wise it wasn’t bad and with plenty of drinks (Bottle of Prosecco 7 beers, 3 large white wines and two calypso type coffees) I may have forgotten something! it came to less than £60 per head, pre tip. A very good night and I’d recommend a visit.

Food was really nice however the menu on the website isn't the current menu so was disappointed they didn't have what I was initially looking forward to (steak and ale pie), seems to have been replaced with a steak and kidney pudding which is what I ordered. It's also tapas style so the mains don't come with any sides so what looks like good value, actually ends up being very expensive. For example if you want pudding and chips this would be about £18. When you have The Roebuck just down the road which has just as nice food it makes it hard to justify coming back. Negatives about price aside the food and atmosphere were great and looks as though they have live music from time to time. Would recommend if you want a fancy date night and have a bit of money to spend but if you want a social meal and drinks probably not the right place.

The staff were friendly and helpful and were very happy for us to sit early. We all had the Sunday roast which was sirloin. It melted in the mouth. Everything was made and cooked freshly. We asked for extra gravy which was no problem at all. In fact nothing seemed too much trouble. Inside was very nicely decorated and it had a great atmosphere. £18 for the roast isn’t the cheapest you will find ( not the most expensive either) but for the quality of the food served it was very good value. The pickled goose is a lovely gastro pub that serves great food and drink. The staff are friendly and professional. If you're passing by pop in, you won't be disappointed.

Food was good, took a long time to arrive. Service was poor. We weren't told about unavailable meals, until we ordered them. We had to ask how to order etc. Our booked table was given to other guests.

Dropped in while visiting area. Spacious and bright room and welcoming manner from young lady serving. Only two cask pumps on so had Thwaites IPA at £3.50 a pint. Not bad but past its best and it seems most people were drinking lager or keg beer of which a choice of 12 including Guinness. Friendly and relaxed atmosphere. Would visit again if in area.

It's changed hands. Disappointed to be honest. Food OK but very pricey for OK food. Thought it was odd it wasn't busy but found out it's changed hands. I've given 3 stars which I think is fair.
